I always find what Im looking for. And, sometimes I find better stuff.
Comprehensive selection and excellent displays covering all the disciplines your heart could desire. Reasonable prices. Excellent assistance from friendly staff.
Incredibly broad selection of artsy treasures at very reasonable prices. Add in helpful employees and a general un-rushed/chill atmosphere, and you got a real gem of a shop, here! Highly recommend 👌
Had a great experience buying supplies for my daughters art class. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. ❤️
Rad local spot. The BOGO deals can’t be beat. Been going here for over ten years and never disappointed.
Omg, hide your wallet, theres so many great deals it could break you!
This place is great! Maybe a little dangerous because they seem to have all the things I want to spend money on. Hard to stop in here for just one thing because before you know it you have 3-4 items in hand contemplating 4 more and want another 2 haha.Nice, friendly, very helpful staff. And quality clientele. Overall a great place to be.
Huge store with every art supply that I never knew existed. Large selection of journals and folios. Surprising amount of practical items for the lay person. Definitely an emporium for artistic people.
One of the partners here is an artist and this is the best art store in Portland! Knowledgeable staff, great product line, easy in and out parking.
What a gem! They pack a sick amount of variety into this store, it seemed like they’ve thought of everything that an artist might need other than clients(amiright?)Also, the person that was at the counter immediately shifted from what she was doing in order to guide me to what I needed for my drafting supplies so that was very helpful. Small business really succeed where the internet cannot; this place is a strong example. Go buy something!
One of the great art supply stores in Portland. Prices are very good.
This is my favorite art supply store of all time! They have a great selection of colored pencils, pens, sketchbooks (usually buy one get one half off!) And paint! Ive spent too much money here and I love it ❤️
My partner and I recently moved to the area and we love walking in and browsing and typically leave with something. As a calligrapher I really appreciate there extensive inventory of calligraphy pens, nibs, inks, automatic pens, and drafting supplies. The prices are as good or better than online. The staff has always been helpful and kind.
Excellent store. Good staff and helpful.
I love this locally owned art shop!
Massive independent art store. They have been around for years.Well curated selection of products; prices are fair for brick and mortar. From student to artist/professional supplies; from drafting; sketching; inks; acrylics; oils; watercolor; spray can; airbrush; on and on.Staff are very helpful and patient, I hear them answering stupid questions with grace all the time.
Large selection of acrylic paints and canvasses. Everything I want in an art supplies store! Lots of sales and BOGO deals, definitely less expensive than others.
I fell in love with the store when I walked in! I love shopping here in the employees are very helpful and nice!
I get most of my supplies here for so many reasons. Prices are great, there are always deals that are relevant and useful to me, they have everything you could need and overall the store is just my vibe. :)
Very helpful and good prices
Amazing selection of art supplies at good prices.
They will let you use their paper cutter. pretty rad
Love this place for art supplies. Large selection, friendly helpful staff. Well organized, easy to find what you need. Also they have great sales.
Great selection. Some fantastic deals on supplies. Staff attitude was low/poor. Felt like they were doing me a favor just to ring me up. No greeting. No thank you.
Amazing!!! So much variety. SERIOUSLY skip the big chain stores and come here.
My favorite shop in town
Great selection of old school creating. Hands on alittle bit if everything. For me Tye dye supplies.
Excellent customer service and generous sales!
They have everything!! I love the wide variety of paint colors, brands and types. Will be back forsure.
Great store, could do better on pricing stuff though. And the clerks could have a little more decency and respect for paying customers
We found everything we needed. Friendly and helpful staff
I am gonna build an alter to this store and worship it daily......GOODBYE BLICK!
If they don’t have it here, it probably doesn’t exist.
Always reliable. You can count on them to have the supplies for almost any project
They have a good range of supplies. I wish they had more pens and markers on hand, but I have mostly been able to find what I need. My daughter who will soon be connecting an allowance said she loves the place and would save up to buy stuff here. 😁 I like that it is a locally owned shop and I am happy to support them.
This is where I start when I have a project. Large selection, knowledgeable staff, competitive prices.
Great products, great prices.
Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I was getting a gift for my mother and dont know anything about art. The saleswoman gave me several suggestions and helped me pick out the perfect thing!
This is my go to spot for art supplies, whether Im buying for myself, my classroom, or as a gift. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and they have a wide selection of merchandise.
Great little arts and crafts store but it takes literally months for back ordered ship to come in. Thanks Obama
This place is so fun to get lost in. Great prices for hobbyists with outrageous selection also available for pros.
This store has the most complete inventory of things regarding graphics and graphic supplies. you could spend a whole day in there browsing and thinking of projects....
Great customer service! Interesting products
Every thing you need is here.
This is a great local place for artist supplies..especially brushes, pencils and more
I was looking for some inexpensive substitute art supplies for an non-funded public elementary school program that I teach. I found materials that are nearly as good as the professional materials for a fraction of the price. I was also impressed with the teachers discount! My kids were thrilled with our project and felt like real artists to boot!Loved the experience enough that I am returning today to get supplies for myself.
Great staff and they have a great selection of fine art supplies.
They are so nice here! My son, who is 10 years old and an artist, and I came in to get a couple little things for a school art project. The prices were very reasonable and they have a really good selection. We didnt have a lot of money but I was able to stretch tour budget to get him a few really nice drawing pens. When the clerk saw how serious and knowledgeable my son was about his art, he went and found some very nice pens and paper in a back room that he just gave us, one artist to another. This is definitely our supply shop from now on.
Best art supplies store in Portland! They have everything and much more...
If youre in the market for for art supplies for just about any task, they have much of what you might wish. Additionally, they have a line of transport options (e.g. - portfolios, pen/pencil wallets, paint caddies, brush rolls, etc.) that are hard to beat both quality and price wise. They also have a good selection of easels that are very reasonable.I would be remiss to not mention their airbrush selection. They have a great supply of brushes and paints. Definitely worth a trip.
Best art store in town! Most diverse selection of all supplies.
I love this place. I dont get there enough. They have tons and tons of great options especially when it comes to paper. Lots of good stuff to choose from. Their pen selection is great. Lots of options to buy individual pens rather than just boxed sets. If I could just win the lottery then I could easily buy a truckload of art supplies from this place.
Great customer service and friendly staff.
Great local art supply. Its always fun digging through their clearance shelves. Good for artsy gifts for the novice, as well as legit art and framing supplies for professionals.
Closed on Sunday, no parking, wasted trip. Ill try again another time.
Well if you have any thought that you might be able to to draw, or do art, this is the best place for you. Tools, equipment, and supplies for all your needs. And the staff, knowledgeable and charming knowing where various supplies are is well worth the money your going to spend anyway. Its still the go to place for art supplies.
Great selection and excellent prices! BEST place for good sketchbooks.
Just had the best experience phone shopping with these folks. Ive always been a fan, and theyre especially awesome during the COVID-19 of it all.
Great range of art supplies from professional to young kid art. Helpful staff who know their stuff and talk to every age artist with respect.
Super helpful team with a great selection. I bought a Tran Products portfolio and the carabiner of the strap unexpectedly broke a few weeks later. I brought it back and they replaced it no problem.
Been going here for years and it has not changed. Still great prices, huge selection, and friendly service every time. Love this place.
This place is pretty good, got as much as a selection as blick, however the clerk ( older lady) was a little rude when asked to point me in the direction of an item, still give it 5/5
They literally have any and everything I could ever want to work with
A very well organized and expansive store for nearly (probably every) art supply need. “Competitive” prices and sales. Products sold are high quality regardless of tier
One of the few locally owned art supply stores still left. Im pretty sure its bigger on the inside, given how much fun fun stuff theyve managed to get into that space.
They were all (4 total) very helpful when it came to letting me stash my bag and winter gear behind the desk, find the right kind of paper for my project, and offering me a student discount. The fellow checking me out was also very patient in explaining how a certain markdown meant I could choose a free product of lesser value. Its quiet in there and roomy compared to other art store suppliers.
I always find what I need here and the staff are super knowledgeable. Ive been going to Columbia for the better part of 10 years now and choose them over other supply shops in town when I can!
Great selection, great service
Love this place! Affordable and great selection
Great little store with all the things you can imagine for the drawer, painter, and more!
This store is my go-to for art supplies. Big selection of well known and trusted brands, and they always have some buy one get one sales going on. Just about anything you could need! Not a lot of photography supplies, but otherwise, its got something for everyone!
Lots of good deals to be had
Cant beat this place for fine art supplies. If youre here looking for customer service then you arent really serious about what youre shopping for. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful, maybe not as peppy or social as people expect, but this is a place for finer crafts of all sorts, and you cant really expect that out of artsy people. Whatever you need, they more than likely have it, as well as a better product to compare with it. Always satisfied with my purchases and quality of product.
Once I got there I was over whelmed with the amount of supplies. The employees were very helpful, and I found very well priced items. In the end I have gotten everything needed, and more!
My favorite place to go for art and drafting supplies. Prices and selection are both good, especially for a small store. Their framing service is one of the most affordable in town. I come here quite often.
Exciting to find what New Had Been Added. Please, Do Not Keep Raising Prices. Too Expensive, And eventually you could go Out Of Buisness. I Live Below Poverty Level, So... But I Love That Store, Very Much. Thanks Guys..
The employees answered questions providing actual knowledge regarding the products they were selling. When I went it was a less employed time but everyone went out of their way to help my friend. Prices a bit much for the specific acrylic brand I use, but better than most. A great selection. I recommend this place for the discerning artist.
This place sets women Artists back. Go to Blick instead. It’s cheaper and they carry a better selection. I have a bad experience with one of the employees at Columbia Art Supply every time I come here. Some of them are nice, but there is a middle aged woman with brown hair who works there who is the most hateful, cankerous woman I have met. Both times I was in she asked if I needed help, I ask her if they have what I’m looking for and she rudely spouts “No” before abruptly walking away. Twice she has done this to me, months apart. Both times I have gone on to find what she told me they don’t carry.I’m surprised that she continues to have a job here treating younger woman like me the way that she does. It doesn’t seem that she has a problem with young men as she is always helpful to my boyfriend and offers him suggestions if they don’t have exactly what he’s looking for. Why should she be treating men and woman differently?I’m so furious about the discrepancy based on gender that I want to call and complain. But seeing as how she continues to work there treating women Artists poorly while treating men like customers, I doubt the owners care about the harmful rhetoric she is pushing. In a day and age where patriarchy should not exist, especially in the art world or at an art supply shop, women like her set us back twenty years.
HUGE locally owned art store with a massive selection! They have practically every medium you could think of. Ive been going here for so long, Im basically an investor. The staff are always friendly and check to see if I need help frequently. They love to hear what new crazy thing Im working on and even ask how the previous creation came out. The layout is pretty intuitive and moderate prices.
Oh my God this place is AMAZING. Great prices, incredibly large variety of art supply, kind staff that will help you cut down poster board if you need it. Always a BOGO sale going on of various supply. Its on my way home from work and I stop their too often.
Great art supply store. Consistently has a large selection of items that are BOGO, making them very competitive on pricing. Selection on certain items is small (for example, their fountain pen selection is somewhat limited but they have aisle after aisle of paper and notebooks of all kinds). They have a really great selection of quality kids art supplies as well.
This is a nice art store. Lots to choose from and great name brands. It would be nice if the owners didn’t watch you so much that you start thinking that maybe you did steal something. You might have too though, prices are outrageous!
This is Portlands best store for new art supplies. Best prices, easy to find parking. What is more important, however, unlike almost every other store these days, is the employees know all about the materials, their uses, what theyre for, etc. Very knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly, as opposed to most stores where the employees havent a clue about anything and just stare at you and shrug. Thats fine if your buying beer, but I prefer knowledgeable staff who can actually speak and discuss. They also have tons of art supplies that arent main stream, like air brush supplies. They have everything.
Stopped by with my wife looking for a certain type of paper. The lady who helped us clearly knew her stuff. She also showed us their clearance section helping us save a few bucks. Much appreciated.
Love this place. Always has what I need for whatever project I am working on. Today it was a drawing compass. Picked up some sale coloured pencils too.
Sooo many paints, markers, papers and surprises... Take yourself for a happy shopping trip, soon!
A large selection of supplies at reasonable price! Very good customer service.
Had a great experience with the staff here. Had to bring in a piece of equipment wed recently purchased and they were really quick to help and even gave me the part we were missing. Will absolutely be going back.
They have small copper/aluminum/brass sheets that youve been looking for at home depot
This place is great! The selection is fantastic, Id compare it to the late great Pearl on the east coast and Sam Flax in Florida, two of my favorites. Or Plaza Arts, if it were much larger. These are the kind of stores focused more on supplying the artists and craftsfolk, more than simple arts-n-craft stores.Ill be back!
Ive been going here since around the time I was 15/16. I was always followed around the store like I was stealing things. After 15 years or so, they dont follow me around anymore. Prices are decent, the 2 for 1s are good. I mainly shop here for emergencies or getting stuff for framing. Its hard to support a business when youve had many friends that were employed there and treated like garbage. Most staff are great and very helpful, but probably deserve better.
Great locally owned arts and crafts supply store. They carry everything the artist or drafter could possibly want and have quite a good selection. Many of the items are buy one get one free so its a great place to get a bargain. They have a custom frame shop as well as selling standard frames and matting materials. Friendly knowledgeable employees.
Three stars for good prices; but Im taking two away simply because of the 3 women I talked to only one of them was even remotely nice. I was scoffed at when I explained what I planned to do with my supplies and I particularly didnt appreciate the mocking tone of the woman who checked me out and sarcastically told me Have fun with your commission as I left.TL;DR- Great prices, unfriendly staff
Great stuff and lots of sales! I come here whenever I need a new sketchbook or just want to try something new
Outstanding art supply shop. Beats the heck out of the national craft store. A pleasure to go and experience. Pricing is competitive. If you need supplies, just go here.
Very well stocked and organized store with an impressive variety of products. I was put-off by the staff however. I asked one employee a question about the benefit of a product that was 4x as expensive as I usually pay (maybe its a better brand?) and she just turned around and put her back to me. I didnt mean to be rude with my question but I felt that her response was unreasonably cold and made me want to leave the store immediately.
It worked out well considering what were going through. I found what I needed and wished everyone a safe day.
They had exactly what I was looking for, and the person helping me was very friendly and knew what she was talking about and knew where everything was. Pretty great. Ill be going back for sure.
Great family-owned art store. Local students with ID get 20% off most purchases, which is worth it. Not a great selection of Canson paper, but they have a lot of canvases, papers, notebooks, art pads, pens, markers, India Inks, etc. Their clearance section is usually pretty good too. The only thing that bothers me is that every time I go in here, I get followed around, which is really uncomfortable. I dont know if theyre being really over-ambitious about helping customers, or if they just suspect everyone of shoplifting, but it does make me uncomfortable to see someone always standing at the end of every aisle I go down, slyly watching me. Like, what?...I usually walk in there holding only my wallet, not even carrying a purse, so I dont know. Overall, I like supporting the small business and the 20% off for students is great.
