I love this place, I really do but I just found out the owner is anti-pet friendly. Interesting. That anti-pet friendly sentiment seems to extend to OUTSIDE as well. Very disappointed to learn this and will unfortunately be cutting back my visits to this place. If you love beer, please go! If you love beer AND your fur babies, look elsewhere. It’s Portland; there’s plenty of pet friendly drinking establishments.
One of the most relaxing beer places with more than 1000 different beers.... Must check out! ❤️
Look guys, Portland has a problem. Were infected with too many IPAs, all competing over which jerk can add more face-melting gobs of hops to try to fix their botched brews. The Beermongers has solved this issue with a GIANT selection of delicious porters, sours, and ciders!
What a great shop! they have an amazing selection including Fullers London Pride a rare find. Great staff, helpful and friendly! Highly recommended
Highly recommend this place. Fantastic bottle shop with an absolutely excellent selection of brews. They also have 10 rotating taps offering great stuff as well. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers they are serving as well as the local beer scene in general. A must stop for me every time I visit Portland.
Awesome beer selection! Incredibly cool staff, and great location!
What more do you need? This place feels like home from the first sip. Yeah some people put bad reviews on here. But not everyone likes pizza. 10 years as the only place to go for friends and foam (the bartenders are great at pouring. I am referencing Orval. To which the Owner has propagated the now national Orval Day) to drop in for a quick one. Only one. Then bike back to Lake Oswego. I Realize it is worth the wait for a beer if its packed. Or I come early and talk to Chris. He is the mayor of this a here watering hole. He will be at the bar with a novel in his hand. New swill in the glass. So, Cheers! Oh. And its winter. So drink something dark
Was not impressed with paying 9 dollars a pint for mediocre beers. This is not what I remember about beer mongers. SadDon’t remember the beers exactly but one was a Pilsner. Still confused at the 18 dollar total
One of the best in Portland. Rare, special, or premium taps; and a great can and bottle selection.
Always top notch! The beer tenders here know all!
The Beer Mongers is amazing. If you want fantastic beer and a great place to drink it, this is the best place to go.
Great place to have a beer and talk with friends.
I called and asked the price on just a single can of beer(A spefic one i wanted) and the owner himself didnt answer he just said im busy i have people in front of me and hung up on me. I called back& asked to speak to the owner and surprisingly find out it was him who rudely answered. I asked why he hung up and couldnt just answer, so i didnt waste a trip to the store and he says and i quote I have people right here in front of me& if youre calling to just buy this one beer its not worth my time...... wow just terrible customer service. I dont just buy one at a time i buy it by the case if not lots of 4 packs and for him to rudely assume im not worth the time makes me glad i didnt go in and support him!I get that stores get busy & hectic i work retail myself im a manager.... but that was not professional at all. I even said ok i can wait in the first call but he just hung up instead. So shop here if you want to be treated like a second class human being! Theyre awesome at that!
Sweet bunch of people with real good beer.
Rolled into Portland, walked down the street to this bar, and almost never left! Friendly locals, great beers on tap, low key vibe. If you like craft beer this is it - the Mexican restaurant kitty corner will sell you a burrito to wash it all down with.
Seriously my favorite beer spot! Great staff, great beer, great atmosphere great greatness!
Unprofessional delivery driver couldnt let things be he had to come out to my car and harass me over the parking situation. To be clear nothing was marked loading area for Beer Mongers, I was picking up a delivery myself only to have this guy yell from a pickup truck I shrugged it off.I did take the high road and hay maybe I was in the wrong I apologized, but next time I wont be friendly about it if harrased again. And you need to understand that things would have been different had I felt threatened.
Pretentious employee, with zero customer service skills. Try to hide your disdain for people or get a job that does not involve human interaction. I will never return and will tell all those I know theyd be better off shopping somewhere else
Great, if limited, tap selection buoyed by massive bottle collection.Awesome bartenders who readily answer any questions.Great bottle prices, although they recently added a corkage fee. You can still bring your own food or order it for delivery.A quieter alternative to Apex with no outdoor seating (there is one little table).
Great place with the exception of parking capacity. I dont drink there, but I do stop by occasionally to fill a growler, and parking is almost always a problem. I usually take my chances in the No parking - Pick-up Only area on the Division St side of the lot, but its iffy. Bartenders have always been attentive, and the beers always been fresh! No complaints!
Best bar in Portland! The staff have always been able to answer my tough questions without hesitation. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Best part are the mongers though... always willing to offer a pour of their personal cellar collection to a new face.
Excellent draft options, wide variety of canned and bottled beer, plus the extra friendly and knowledgeable staff keep me coming back regularly. One of the best bottle shop/taprooms in Oregon.
Their bottle shares are pretty great, the fridges are alright but on the moderate pricing side. Bartenders here are real nice and laid back. Food nearby delivers within the bar. If they have an event, get there early or prepare to stand holding your beer - not enough seats or counter space for the bigger stuff like sport games and tap takeovers.
Love this place. I only come by twice a year, but I am always treated like a valued customer. Great place to get your Apoth fix and other special releases.
One of my favorite local tap house/bottleshop here in Portland. They have a very good selection of beers on draft and bottles to buy. I really enjoy the fun and relax atmosphere that this places has. On occasions they will allow bottle-shares. Great place to hang out on a week night or weekend.
Love this place.
Great selection and friendly staff. This was our last stop on a long day of drinking so probably didnt get as much time here as I would of liked. What I saw I liked though.
Very good bottle selection & prices and you can drink then in house without a markup. Very high quality and oft rare taps, six total. + Friendlier than any other bottle shop in town.
Best bottle shop in Portland
Great selection of bottles from just about everywhere, and always 8 great draft beers to choose from which are rotated frequently. You can always find something you like whether it be a bottle, can, or fresh pint. They will open a beer for you to have there at no extra charge and will always select the appropriate serving glass for your beverage. The great bar made of salvaged wood is a really comfortable place to just sit relax with a beer and partake in a conversation about favorite brews.
Where everyone knows your name! Actually, I share the same name as the owner so I think it counts....
Mongers is my go-to beer spot in town, either to sit down and have a few or to grab-and-go. The quality and variety of draught, cans and bottles cant be beat, the staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and the pricing is competitive.
Highly recommend.Went here during the World Cup...was super busy but the crowd was friendly, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating and even had time to talk about the beer selection despite the chaos. The popcorn was interesting and tasty as well and GMO-free! (warning: fairly spicy for the American palate)
Great variety of bottles. Usually some rare/choice selections on draft. Staff is always friendly and willing to help with recommendations or provide samples. If you want to try a new beer this is a great spot to start.
I love these types of places. Somewhere you can go and enjoy a plethora of beers for a relativity decent price. Growler fills are a great deal. I say a good place to enjoy a good beer.
Are looking for bottles of Samuel Smiths? Want a cool place to hang after or before some open mic down the street or the nearby Bahn Mi place? Like good beer and being overwhelmed by fridges filled with bottles? Then this is a place to check out. I think they have other things, but I have no idea because the extensiveness of the bottles from England to California, Oregon and Belgium and beyond is plenty to deal with :)
I love this place! If you want to be treated like family from complete strangers this is the place to be. Best staff in the business!
Great beer selectiob
ShawnShaughnShaunSeanChaughnChaunChanHowever you spell it, he rocks!
Consistently great beers on tap. Extremely pleasent staff. A lot of fun on game days, we spent a lot of the NBA playoffs here. Its just a great local bar!
The plainness of the building that houses Beermongers belies the gem contained within. Located at a fairly busy intersection of 11th and SE Division its good that they have on site parking and are very convenient to most of the busy cycling routes. Beermongers is sort of the baby bear of the bottle store Cinderella story, not too big, not too small, not too hip, not too snobby, just right in size, and selection. There is the required TV screen, and a couple of taps, some seating, and a bunch of coolers stocked with some great and really inexpensively priced beers from around the World. Been here a handful of times, gone out of my beer comfort zone twice, and always been pleasantly surprised by the beer I was drinking, and how much money was left in my wallet after.
A great selection of craft brews. Also have hard to find bottles. This is a great place to explore the expanding world of beer. The servers are very knowledgeable and can help you expand your palate.
Went here with a couple of friends to attend a tap takeover by Ballast Point. Was not disappointed and cant wait to return. There taplist is small but always has great beers, in a lot of ways its refreshing so you dont have to try and choose from 30-50 different beers. The fact that it is a more intimate location really makes for a great experience as well.
My favorite spot in Portland! Great selection, wonderful vibe, and excellent service. They deserve your patronage.
My go-to bottleshop/beer bar. Knowledgeable beer crowd without being snobby. No better place to watch a Timbers match or World Cup game.
My favorite brewpub & bottleshop in town. They offer 8 unique and hard to find beers on tap plus countless beers in bottles and cans. Bottles and cans are priced the same here or to-go. Also, they are open everyday of the year!
Cool place to read awesome books hand picked from its own diamond library supplied by a local master drinker and librarian... Mastery!!!
By far my favorite taproom/bottle shop in Portland. Not a large draft selection, but where they lack they make up with a thoughtful beer menu and a large selection of bottles. There bottle prices are also the best in town.
Cool hangout spot. Great beer selection. Staff very knowledgeable about beer.
Just an awesome spot for a drink, and bottles to go. Very cool people
A great small beer store and bar. You want a unique beer list. Drop by.
Great selection!
Place is awesome. Laid back vibe, super knowledgeable beermongers, interesting taps, extensive bottle selection and cheap prices. Yes Ill have another.
Great beers, often and eclectic selection and always a knowledgeable staff.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Beers are Yummy . Great selection!
Great beers on tap and an amazing selection for carryout. Cozy space.
Bottle shop with an amazing selection. Quality over quantity. Taps for tasting fresh and cellared beers. Friendly staff, tip well! Anyrhing in the case can be opened for a cap fee.
I had totally made a mistake and had rated this low because I got it confused with the other taphouse across the street (Apex) - so correcting that now. I just went to BeerMongers for the first time and it was fantastic - small and friendly, with a short but well-rounded tap list, and hundreds of bottles you can either take with you or drink there. The bartender was very helpful, and the crowd was laid-back. Will definitely be going back.
Great low key beer place with a small but well curated tap list.
Amazing craft beer selection!
This place is super beer-focused (surprise). The bartenders are totally knowledgable and are super agreeable to chatting about the beer.
Great bottle shop with huge selection, lots of imports as well, and they just started offering sake. Sean and Sam and are very friendly and VERY knowledgable about the beers they sell. enjoy a bottle in house with no corking fee!! Hosts great beer events, and they have a big flat screen to watch soccer games for you fans. Small parking lot so you may have to park across the street, but dont let that stop you from visiting this SE Portland gem!
Great friendly staff and enjoyable place to watch the Timbers games.
The guys running the place seem like they really know their stuff, and have a fantastic selection of beers, especially if youre looking for local or uncommon types. I will definitely be back.
Great place for craft beers (draft or bottle) and camaraderie.
Awesome experience....great customer service and the bartender noticed that I had left my card and ran it back to me...
These guys rock. One of the best beer selections in the city and quick with recommendations.
Great place, good selection no cappage fee and can bring food over. Wish there was some outdoor seating but still good.
Great beers, open every day, cool staff that know their product especially the new arrivals.
Fantastic selection and great staff make this place one of the best beer joints in town.
Always an excellent selection of beers on tap and easily the best prices on bottles in town.
Beer, they haz it. 4.5 stars for the overall selection and knowledge. Not quite perfect - they could really stand to have more taps but thats just my dumb opinion.I mean, if you cant find something among the huge bottle inventory to sate your thirst, youre in the wrong town. There isnt much in those coolers that I wouldnt drink to the last drop, mmm k? The staff are very helpful and if theyre busy theres someone sitting nearby who can probably help or comment on the beers youre considering. Its a little worn, with a nice feel of your local corner store without the usual riff-raff panhandling out front or lotto ads.And the location is just perfect for bus beers, if youre adventuring on division or even Hawthorne its very accessible.
Great bar, awesome bottle selection, the best staff.
Great place to gather with very friendly people.
Great place for a pint and a timbers match!!
Great selection of beers, friendly hangout atmosphere, friendly service. Will definitely be back.
Easy going atmosphere. Local bar, with a beachy weekend appeal. The staff was friendly. The locals are pretty easy going.
Cool place with tons of beers. Hang out, have a couple, take a couple home
My personal favorite beer bar in Portland, Beermongers is a place opened by dudes who had a passion for beer. Situated in a dual-purpose building on the northwest corner of 12th and Division, the front entrance consists of a door and a roll-up door, which is usually open during decent weather. A half dozen round tables and and an L-shaped bar offer limited seating options, with nothing outside...so if its busy you may want to pick up a few bottles to go.If you end up finding a seat you can enjoy either bottle or draft, with 10 well-curated taps to chose from and coolers full of bottles from respected breweries near and far. A cappage fee applies to bottles but this allows you to try out amazing beers side by side in proper glassware, on-the-spot and without compromise (ever have a sampling party? The amount of dirty glassware is obscene).Timbers games are played on the two medium-sized tvs and, when the local teams arent playing, soccer tends to fill in the rest. It is most certainly not a sports bar, although it might feel that way at times. I tend to find great conversation while bellied up to the large-slab wooden bar, either from other customers or the bartenders themselves. There is no lack of beer knowledge in this place, you might strike up a conversation with a brewer or delivery guy or an architect or even Sven from Sveden (true story, he was in town for a conference).Make sure you pick up some swag, the beeriodic table can be had in poster-size or smaller, and a plethora of hats and hoodies are available to share with your jealous friends back home. You can be confident in your selections with the help of the staff and owner, and unlike some places (right across the street) theres isnt much of a snobby attitude to speak of. Id say its more fitting foir a certian, older crowd but thats a bit much...its just a bit more mellow at Beermongers. They dont have a HUUUGE taplist but the bottle selection and pricing more than make up for it.
It can get to standing room Only quickly, but thats never stopped me from enjoying a drink there.
Beer selection is fire.
Best place to just get a beer.
Always an interesting selection of taps and a wonderful bottle selection.
Great selection of some hard to find brews. Ok, bottle shops have been popping up everywhere. The key is to find a niche, and beermongers has. They specialize in some hard to find brews, especially oversees. If you are looking for a hard to find Belgian, stop here.
Tasty rotating taps, huge bottle selection, friendly & cozy atmosphere.
Great place for a variety of beers.
Definitely one of the better bottle shops in the area.
Excellent tap and bottle selection for beer. Hosts many great beer events in the city of brewvana.
Good selection of beer and some good help finfint the right bottle
Absurd selection of nerdiest of beer nerd brews (I mean that in only a good way). Great Portland drafts, bottles from all over.
Best beer selection/prices in town
SUCH A HUGE SELECTION. this place was amazing, people were helpful, and the prices were reasonable.
A great bottleshop in SE that reminds me a lot of Saraveza. They frequently do tastings of some of the smaller breweries in Portland, and the staff is awesome.
