Best experience Ive ever had at an auto shop. Brian is a real one and the most friendly mechanic Ive had the pleasure to work with. They saved me easily a hundred bucks at least giving THEE best price on a new battery AND installation. NOT an easy task for my car either (battery being behind the front headlight & having to literally take the tire off to get to it).These guys really do go above and beyond to give their best and it shows. Could not reccomend them more. Keep up the good work guys!

My 1990 Ford pickup would not start so I heard from my window washer that the battery exchange was a great place to go with a reasonable price and that they are very honest so I tried out Brian. He had the truck for about 3 days trying to figure out why there was no power when you tried to start it and finally he figured it all out. I was pretty amazed and very happy . He was very reasonably priced be priced and a great guy to work with and kept me informed every step of the way. He went above and beyond trying to figure out what was going on with my truck and in the end he did . I am so happy and I would absolutely recommend him!

Called them up a few weeks back looking for a deep cycle battery and inverter for a small off grid solar setup.I had a 12v, 100ah battery pretty firmly in mind. They asked some excellent questions about what I had in mind and then pointed me toward a better option for off grid backup storage, at roughly the same price/wH.Really appreciate how they took the time to carefully answer my questions and choose the best batteries for me.They could have just taken my money and sold me exactly what I asked for even though it was suboptimal, but they didnt. They took the time and provided expert advice to help me understand why a pair of 6v, 224aH batteries were much better for my needs.They also helped me compare prices and capacities and talk through the pros and cons with the other batteries I had in mind.Then they ordered the batteries and inverter from the warehouse and I was able to drive up and pick them up within just a few hours.Really happy with the batteries. Would recommend and will be back if I decide to expand my storage.

Ive driven past Battery X-Change for many years, never before in need of their services, but always enjoying this building as an example of what SE Portland used to be like.A recent set of issues with my car made it necessary to have a professional deal with it, and the kind Local Guides who have reviewed this place before me made it easy to decide on a specialist.A preliminary phone call made it clear that they could help me, and would be able to do so without an appointment. Their layout, with 2 driveup parking spaces under the canopy, made a Covid-distanced rainy day visit perfectly pleasant. The technician was able to work under the hood while I stood by the rear quarter panel, and could easily hear and see his commentary and progress.My car was fixed quickly, without being sold anything unnecessary. Its good to know that helpful experts are still available for traditional car troubles.

I made a review of this place back in May that was somehow removed and I feel strongly enough about how bad the experience was to repost it. The extremely rude employee twice refused to honor a recently purchased battery warrantee and told me my charger was bad. He made me feel stupid, was arrogant, and blamed me for the battery no charging. I bought a bi-mart battery afterwards and havent had a problem since. I will never go here again. My charger is fine.

Got there on the day it was hotter than hot, they were closed when google maps had it posted it was open....hmmmm...it was pretty hot tho lol literally I don’t blame them it was too hot to be trying to sale anything that had to do with a car I was like I’m good LOL. Great place tho

I love this place, awhile ago I went to Jiffy Lube and said my battery needed replacement, so I got a second opinion. Came here and the fella, hooked up his machine checked battery fluids and said it was in good condition. After that, this place has earned my business, just recently brought my different car, this time the battery was the problem after he checked. Affordable pricing and was in and out. Definitely recommend this place to everyone I know or who is reading this review.

I brought my battery in to get tested, and it was in fact going bad. Scott was very helpful in recommending a battery for me and did not pressure me like a salesman. I ended up doing some research on my own that afternoon and came back the next day and purchased an optima red top for my battery. Scott did a great job installing the new battery along with cleaning up the wiring from my harness to the terminal posts and custom fit the battery I wanted. Scott was great. I took my car to O’Reily and Les Scwab for advice and the both tried to sell me things I didn’t need. I took it to Scott and he fixed my car FOR NO CHARGE. It was a small battery issue but still, trust these guys over the larger auto shops. 10/10 recommend.

Its weird to say about a battery shop, but this is one of the Portland businesses I most highly recommend! When I was going through a hard time financially, but realized I had to get a new battery, they were extremely professional and kind, helping me find a used battery that I could trade in for full credit toward a new battery within 6 months. I definitely came back and the process was seamless, taking less than 5 minutes each time.Later, my battery kept draining and my door open light kept going on. I could tell it wasnt due to any fault of the battery, so I tried hitting up several repair shops in town but there was a days long wait to be checked out at all of them. In a rush, I stopped by Battery Exchange on a Hail Mary. They looked at my battery for a minute, then came to my door, immediately finding that screws were loose from a repair at another shop. They screwed them tight right away, refused to charge me, and had me on my way in about 5 minutes.Its scary to be strapped and dealing with car trouble. Battery Exchange will treat you with respect and honestly walk you through your options.

Had to go here yesterday after our battery finally failed. Scott helped us and was incredibly speedy and professional. He gave me two price options (with honest pros and cons) and when I opted for the lower price he wasnt pushy. No upselling here, just haggle free service! And when I say speedy, we were in and out in under 7 minutes. Would definitely recommend and Scott will be our go-to for any battery issues.

Great place with excellent staff. I couldn’t get my car to start or mange to jump it. Brought the battery down to Battery X-Change and they tested it. Totally dead, bad battery, tons of corrosion, it was all bad. They hooked me up with a replacement battery and a two year warranty with my exchange for around half of what it would have cost anywhere else. They even told me to bring my car down once I got it moving so they could clean the terminals and check my alternator for me. Made it home and she turned turned right over. I brought the whole car back and they cleaned it up and reassured me that my alternator was fine. You can’t beat the service or the price that this place provides. I’ll be back, just hopefully not for a while.

I bought a car with a weak battery. The battery was from BATTERY X-CHANGE. The sticker showed that it was a reconditioned battery that was about 5 months into the warranty. They exchanged it quickly and without hassle for another reconditioned battery. That battery works great; I am very pleased with their service.

Apparently, previous management was terrible because these guys were great. I went in yesterday, 1-20-16, to buy a used battery. I called beforehand, the battery I needed was charged and ready to be installed. I mentioned I thought I needed new terminal ends, they said they just needed a thorough cleaning. They couldve gotten me for an extra 10 dollars but they are honest and cleaned them at no extra charge. 40 bucks for a used battery with a 6 month warranty. If I wanted a better warranty, I wouldve bought a new battery, dont fault them. I wont hesitate to go back again and tell everyone I know to go there. Thanks Bill and other guy, I didnt catch your name but you guys are awesome. Id rate them 6 stars if I could, yes, they are that professional.

The guy checked my battery, and it was so dead. He replaced it really fast and even cleaned/replaced the wire ends for my stereo which connected to the battery.Great service! I definitely recommend.

Thanks to these amazing techs i was able to find out my alternator was broken AGAIN even though i just replaced it 6 months ago (thanks OReillys). Although I made a bad decision by trusting the big-box-car-parts stores I humbly suggest YOU DONT DO THE SAME! just go to these specialist for your Alternator / Battery needs. These people KNOW what they are talking about, they WONT LIE, and they charged me so little for all their knowledge and wisdom i literally had to BEG the guy to double charge me for his time and service (which he still didnt).Point is dont trust the minimum wage puppets who dont know the difference between an AMP and a WATT... just save yourself all the headaches with the lifetime warranty on sup-part parts I have had and go to Battery X-change.

Definitely would recommend this place they do oil changes timing belt and basic mechanics and have just about any battery you would ever want allso windshield wipers they have great customer service but you may have to wait a little bit if you just drop in definitely recommend you make an appointment

The man that works there scott, he broke my head light casing and wrapped the wire round battery bolt so when i drove my truck later that night it caught fire. They refused to pay me for the damages they caused and scott lied in arbertration under oth. This has got to be the worst place in the world to go. Make sure and go any place but here its horriable!! If i could have i would have not given any stars at all.

I took my 94 Toyota pickup there for a new alt belt and it cost $55 to replace and instal (in 06-2011). they are rough around the edges, but seem to know what they were doing and I didnt have to wait long. I liked the service I got this time and that I have had in the past.

Emergency battery and alternator issue that they were able to correct incredibly quickly with great customer service. The part for the alternator appears to be bad so well see how well their warranty work is.
