Honestly, if we didn’t want/need the car we would have walked. We did a lot of research prior to getting the vehicle, but still had some questions we may have been unsure about. We got a lot “I don’t knows” and “I’ve never had that asked before.” We also were very thorough in reviewing the things they wanted us to sign for the lease, as well as had some questions about what we were signing, and got those same answers. We also felt like we were annoying everyone by just trying to make sure we understood what we were getting ourselves into. Not to mention the “offers changed,” so we ended up paying more than we were initially quoted. Fortunately, I LOVE my car, but wasn’t happy with the process at this dealership.

10/3/21 - I arranged, for a fee, to have Berlin City Toyota pick up my car on a Tues.and return it after repair was done. My appointment was for 7 am. They came for the car after 11am. I received one phone call, was told that I could view what needed to be done online and that one of the parts wasnt available until Friday. When I tried to have a dialog, the guy said to just look online. I did. There was a list of parts I needed and a price, no breakdown for parts and labor. 3 days later, Friday I first tried calling at 8:30 am, called twice more, about 10:30 and about 12:30. No one picked up. Recording said leave a message, well call back. I left 2 messages, no one called back. All of Friday passed and I never heard from them. Nobody had the decency to call and tell me that my car would not be returned on Friday. That is outrageous. Tomorrow will be Monday and maybe Ill get my car back. That would be 6 days after it entered the shop. 6 days during which I received one brief phone call, informing me that I could check my email if I had questions. But the scant details they sent just prompted more questions with no way of having them answered. Ive never experienced worse customer service in my life. I wasnt able to give zero stars, so that one star is an error.

Sam Sharif was a wonderful help to my husband and I in the purchase of our new Toyota Tundra. He took the time to track down the exact truck we wanted. Then to make it as easy as possible they did all the wheeling and dealing over the phone and delivered our truck right to our door Step. Steve in finance was also wonderful to deal with. Thank you Berlin and your great staff for making this a wonderful experience for us.

My husband and I had a great experience this week with Berlin City Toyota and Sam Sharif. My lease was up this fall and Sam found a great Highlander to replace my old one. Steering didnt feel right after, so I took it back to the original shop and they said the alignment was fine but something was still up. Made an appointment with Berlin City immediately. My husband and I saw a truck at your dealership that weve been looking for. Drove almost 3 hours to take a look at it. We are definitely a Toyota family, so weve bought many Toyotas before. This experience was hands down, one of the best experiences weve ever had. Melanie greeted us right away, we test drove the truck and started the whole process right after. Huge shout out to Sarah. I had a wonderful experience getting my tundra service two days ago. Had a mix up with them going above and beyond making sure my tires were in sync with the TPMS. They realized what they did was not necessary and did not charge. It’s important (most important) to have a skill set in communication, especially when they were just trying to make the truck 100% when they saw the light.I appreciate their understanding, and covid masks don’t help. I am not writing this review with one experience but multiple experiences. I was sold a used car with multiple issues which was ready to be scrapped in a year. I was there to service my car I waited 2 hours and I saw that my car was ready and I asked for the keys the guy was like I am not your advisor so don’t talk to me which was rude . I have been going there for 4 years and this is not the way you treat your loyal customers.

I was online and saw a truck that caught my eye and asked for more info on the website. I was lucky enough to have Sam Sharif be the one to call me back! I purchased the truck which had loud custom exhaust pipes. I realized a day later that the pipes were too loud and I felt I had overextended myself on the monthly payment. I called Sam right away and he was amazing. He didnt make me feel like I was trapped in the situation. He really made me feel comfortable and said that we could come up with a solution so I would be happy! Well he did!!! He made sure my trade in was still available, and also had some other options for me. He had another nice truck option delivered the next day from their NH dealer along with some ideas for keeping the original truck I had purchased! In the end he was able to lower my payment and switch out the loud exhaust pipes on my original truck! It was such an easy and enjoyable process! I really felt like he had my back! Its clear he takes pride in his work! Keep up the amazing job Sam!! I am so happy with my new truck!!

My wife and I were on vacation when there was a problem with our Prius. Even though we didnt buy the car from Berlin Toyota, and even though we werent from the area, we were treated extremely well. The problem was diagnosed, the repairs were completed, and we were on our way. The service department is very professional, and Id go back to them with no hesitation.

Most people complain about having to purchase a new car however this was the easiest new car buying experience I had. I had been wanting a RAV4 Prime and in my home state in the upper Midwest where currently there’s a two year waitlist. Mody Botros reserved the one they had in their pipeline, kept me up to date as to when it would arrive in Portland, and after flying in I was leaving with the car I wanted at a very competitive price for the vehicle in less than an hour. The business manager provided me with the material I needed and the shipping details about additional paperwork to make paying for the new vehicle taxes in my home state easy eliminating questions I had on how to do that.

I purchased a preowned Jeep Wrangler in April with the help of Keegan, who is the most laid back sales person you can imagine. Absolutely fantastic at his job and making that connection with the customer. The whole process felt entirely too easy, the staff was so kind and helpful. This will be the first place I go back to when it’s time to purchase my next vehicle!

Matt Walls was very helpful. I was a little unclear about what my car needed. I think I received the services I needed, and only the services I needed. The timing was tight because I wasnt sure of what I needed, and I had to get more information. He was patient with me, and with the patience of the mechanic, as well, I got my car back before the end of the day (just!).

I worked with Sam Sharif and he did an incredible job. After searching numerous lots for the right car at the right price working with Sam was a breath of fresh air. I laid out what I wanted to do and he made it work, not to mention I was in and out of there in an afternoon workout the long back and forth process I had experienced elsewhere, that inevitably went nowhere. Multiple bad experience with Jeffrey. Got car fixed for window trouble, was told I needed a new regulator, paid for it and the labor just for it to continue not working 3 months later (in winter so I wasn’t using the window much during those 3 months). Went back and was told they couldn’t fix it and to take it elsewhere. Was not given any informational explanation as to why the previous work done didn’t fix the problem. Jeffrey was unsympathetic and extremely rude. Was not offered an apology or anything. Complained to multiple people including GM and have not heard back. Do not recommend

Sam Sharif was an absolute pleasure to work with! Normally I loathe the car buying process. It takes way too much time and there’s an unnecessary amount of back and forth with layers of management. Sam made the process quick and easy. About 95% of the transaction was completed over text and I only spent 10 min total at the dealership signing paperwork. This was hands down the best car buying experience I have had!

Bobby was attentive. He listened, he took notes, he relayed the notes and got his team to get everything done in the 2hr scheduled time.

EDIT: I spoke with Eric Johnson (see reply below). He apologized for the experience I had, and provided me with a new remote for the Blu-ray player. Judging the whole sales process, this has helped with how I will remember the experience. My new recommendation would be to contact Eric Johnson to see if theres something that can be worked on to improve your time there if you feel youre not given the best service possible.This dealership really struggled to delivered on its promise of Easy. I bought a used 2017 Toyota Sienna late on a Wednesday night, so the car wasnt ready yet. The next day I came down at the agreed upon time, waited 90 minutes for it be ready, which it never was. There was also no phone call that evening to report what, if any issues had been found/worked on/resolved.The following day, Friday, Berlin City delivered the car to my home after working on what they said was a battery issue. After driving the car a few hours later, the Check Engine came on, and we had to drop the car off again.The car was then left at the dealership for all of Saturday, all of Monday, and finally, I called to get it on Tuesday. I cant stress enough that these long times between communications happened because there was no effort by Berlin City to contact me, and ended only because I had to call them.You know how you get a temporary plate thats good a couple weeks? This is important to know, because it started on the Wednesday night that I didnt get my car, to the following Tuesday of the following week that I did, meaning I had a much smaller window to get my car registered. And this is important, because once I brought the paperwork to the town hall, they noticed that the title number and state of origin was missing from the dealerships paperwork, meaning I couldnt register the car.Minor other things;- The car has a Blu-ray player, but no remote. That essentially means it does nothing, except taunt the kids by being there. This is a pretty minor complaint, but they insisted my lease being brought in had almost no value because of a scratch. Seems hypocritical to then advertise a car being sold has a Blu-ray player, but it cannot be operated.- A rental was only offered on day 4 of my experience of trying to get the car. I was borrowing a car from my parents for the first few days. Seems like it should have been an offer on day 2.- I requested work orders of what checks were done no the vehicle, or what repairs or changes were made more than once, and the requests were simply acknowledged, then ignored.TL;DR - My experience was not a great one. Perhaps it was a bad day or two, and maybe this was an outlier. Its possible that Im a nightmarish customer with unfair expectations, and you should take this review with a grain of sale!But the problems there seemed to be multilayered issues; from paperwork being incomplete, to long repairs, to a very poor focus on communicating. It was the antithesis of Easy.I hope my experience was something that can be improved upon by Berlin City for other customers. I know Ive learned what I need to know about it.

I very much enjoyed going through the car-buying experience at Berlin City Toyotas Portland location. For context, I did a lot of my research before ever even setting foot on a dealership. I knew that I really wanted a Prius, but was open to other Hybrid options. The salesperson I worked with- Brett Kapteina- didnt try to steer me away from what I was interested, and provided honest feedback that didnt propagandize in anyway.I felt free to consider the pros and cons of trim levels and the salesperson didnt use my communication as a way to push harder. What I mean is, the conventional wisdom of you should be careful about showing enthusiasm or conveying your wants, because the salesperson will use that against you. Rather, Brett (and I assume, most at the dealership would act similarly) used that in order to provide factual information to me about the pros and cons of features/upgrades from his perspective.Finally, when purchasing, negotiations truly were easy. I know price is always a sensitive issue, but upon furnishing a competing quote, there was no hardball involved to arrive at a match.Being a shopped from out of state, a major consideration was the number of trips that the car-buying process would take. I spent one afternoon seeing the car, another test-driving it (and actually enjoying a day on town), and then the best part is that they offer delivery. I didnt need to make the 90-minute drive back into the dealership after my decision was made.The dealership lives up to the tagline- purchasing here was, in fact, easy.

Purchased my last two Tacoma trucks from Berlin City Toyota of Portland and have been very satisfied. The last Tacoma came with a two year free maintenance option. Well I have never been one to return to the dealership for maintenance, but figured free is free, Ill give it a try. Exceptional service, timely, efficient, and friendly staff. So maybe the team was off their game today; and I will be forced to revise this review. Maybe...Arrived for a 1000 appointment for a recall fuel pump replacement. When the appointment was made the repair time was one to one and a half hours. Not bad, they have comfortable outside seating, thats about how long a round trip from home would take - Ill drop off the truck and wait. When i dropped the vehicle off the repair time was confirmed. About 45 minutes goes by and I take a walk around the parking lot, theres my truck. all done? I go check. No, not even started yet. What, I had a ten oclock appointment. Well thats not when we start the job, only a time for you to bring the vehicle in for service, What? Sometimes it can take all day, What? Why was I told its a ninety minute repair if its a possible day long job, and you dont even know when you will start the repair? Well thats just the way we do it What! Further investigation revealed, and this is my take, that the truck with the earlier appointment arrived late, and that was pushing the schedule back.In the end, repair action rescheduled for the first time slot, a wasted three hours and a reminder why I do not use dealership service.

Had to bring in my Tacoma for a frame replacement recall. Service was great. Service agentJeff and manager Kevin were awesome. The whole job was done in just two days. They even washed my truck when it was done. Amazing! This is a huge job and so far everything is working great. Fingers crossed, but overall, these guys do a great job. Thanks a lot to everyone at Berlin City.

I went to lease a car from him and when I told the other salespeople out front who I was looking for, they told me I was lucky. They were right.I am a graduate school student on budget but Sam really worked with me to help me get what I both wanted and needed from a car. This was my first experience leasing a car and Toyota was great for a recent grad like me because of their great grad discounts. Sam especially was personable and helped us feel at ease. He also was very prompt and quick. I leased my car in the morning and had plenty of time to do everything else I needed that day after. It was so refreshing to have such an easy car shopping experience.

My family has bought Toyotas here for twenty years and have had great success and service. This review, though is specifically for sales person Colin Kimball who three weeks ago sold us a certified preowned (our first, everything else had been new) 18 Corolla over the phone and then brought it to our driveway for test drive and signing paperwork outside. Colin was great and super pleasant!! His help allowed us to buy a car with less than half an hour time on our part. He wasnt pushing. He just had all the info immediately. We couldnt be happier!! The car is great!

My experience with Melanie was great! She was very knowledgeable and helpful in my deciding whether to buy an XLE Corolla or a Hybrid Corolla. I wanted the hybrid but with heated seats which she arranged to have installed the morning after I bought the car. She was very helpful in making sure I knew how to work all the bells and whistles before I drove away and has been quick to respond to any questions I had at the dealership or when I got home.

All good! I did not purchase my vehicle at the dealership. I found my vehicle and did the research on their website. I used the chat feature on the website on Sunday. Got a call from Melanie by 8:30 on Monday morning. Completed the deal by 3PM that same afternoon. My new Tacoma was delivered to my house 6 and a half hours away Wednesday afternoon. All a very positive experience.

We were on vacation and on a whim, stopped in to Berlin City Toyota out of curiosity. Ended up trading in our Honda (the offer was a lot better than we imagined) and getting a great deal on a RAV 4! Mark Hunter was very helpful in trying to get the deal done as quick as we could since we didnt have much time. There was no pressure felt though on our part for a sale to be made.One thing we werent told was that we didnt get a title with the vehicle when we bought it so when we got home 2 days later to register it, we were surprised that we didnt have needed documents to register. In spite of that miss and wasted trip to DMV (waking up early and standing in line to avoid really long lines), Mark made sure we got the title as soon as possible. He also noticed we left behind a garage remote in our traded in vehicle and kindly sent it to us.We recommend Mark and Berlin City Toyota for a really good deal!George.

We were just driving past this location today. I decided to stop in and view a vehicle in the lot. The vehicle was one I had been looking at at another Toyota out of state. While there, my current vehicle needed assistance and the man who assisted us was helpful. In the main area there were a lot of employees who were chatting with other employees in between customers. We were standing in the waiting area and had no negative experience. My rating doesn’t have to do with a purchase, but the overall interaction with the man who assisted us and our hospitality while waiting.

I guess because of COVID-19 or it being miserably cold, no one came out while I was looking at Tacomas.

Sam Sharif helped us find the perfect vehicle within our budget. We went to a few other car dealerships before going to Berlin City Toyota and it was a night and day experience. The other dealers we went to had salesmen who were pushy and didn’t listen to what we were looking for. At Berlin City it really seemed like Sam was more interested in helping us find what we needed as opposed to pressuring us into a sale that wasn’t a good fit.

I would like to share my recent experience with your service leader, Matt, in car repair.I brought my car in on a Saturday with the understanding that your mechanics would take a look at it and fix it. This was done and then they fixed the recall on the vehicle after having the car for 5 days waiting for the parts to come in. When I picked up my vehicle the report said if this repair didn’t work I would need to bring the vehicle back in so the part could be replaced. Right after getting my vehicle back it was clear the repair did not work. I called back to schedule a time to get this repair completed again, offering to bring the car in on a date that worked best for your service schedule. Matt said I could bring it in that Saturday after calling me back to verify that he had all the parts and materials needed to repair the vehicle. I brought my vehicle back in on May 9th. My vehicle wasn’t looked at until the afternoon and therefore the repair wasn’t completed. Matt offered me a loaner vehicle at which time he informed me that any damage done to the vehicle would be at my expense. Matt is aware that I am a painter. There is no way I can guarantee something wouldn’t happen to the vehicle which prevented me from being able to take the loaner. I had to leave with my vehicle that you had all day with the repairs not completed.It doesn’t sit well that my vehicle wasn’t fixed the first time I brought it to you. Even harder to swallow is that I brought it back to you with a plan in place and left again with my vehicle not fixed.Matt cannot keep assuring people that their vehicle will be fixed and not follow through with this assurance. Furthermore, Matt cannot keep assuming that he can hold onto peoples vehicle because not everyone can take on the liability of driving your loaner vehicle.

My maintenance checks are always scheduled. Service Techs are prompt, courteous and knowledgeable! The waiting area is clean, comfortable, and supplied with drinks (hot & cold) and fresh fruit. The job was very well done in excellent technicalities, and I very short time no time consuming.

The first window that pops up on Berlin City Toyota website states face masks required therefore I was surprised and disappointed when I walked into the building to see a female employee sitting in the lobby with her mask under her chin. Appropriately, the gentleman working with me was masked but as I looked around the office, less than 50% of the their employees were masked. And many of these employees were within 6 feet of each other.We were prepared to purchase a car today and Berlin City Toyota just lost our business. As customers, we can choose whether we support a business that is appropriately masking and social distancing. Unfortunately, that is not Berlin City Toyota. Ill be taking my business elsewhere that is doing their part in keeping our community safe.

Colin Kimball is an awesome salesman. Super responsive and will listen rather than push. Everyone I interacted with was great. Would be 5 stars if not for the server crashing which caused some issues but they were eventually resolved.
