Got two americanos, one iced and one hot. Both of these coffees tasted exceptionally sour even though we were told the coffee would taste smooth with hints of caramel. The most dominant flavor was sour, and we both ended up tossing our coffees. This may be a preferred flavor for some coffee drinkers, but was not my cup of coffee.
Came to the downtown location at 11:30am this morning for like, the 100th time in my life. Had to go pee really bad as I have an overactive bladder and when I gotta go, I gotta go. Asked the barista if I could get the bathroom code and she said “you have to be a customer.” I said “I really have to go and I’ll buy something after I use the restroom, I came here for coffee!” She still wouldn’t let me go, and then some person (probably a tourist) jumped in and said “stop giving her a hard time she said you have to be a customer.” Fml. Ironic this place is called Heart. I promised to buy something and pleaded a couple more times, but the mob of social justice warriors had descended and deemed me unfit to use the restroom. As someone born and raised in Portland, it’s this kind of pretension and lack of good neighbor ethos that has killed the friendly spirit Portland used to have. Lost a loyal, local, social worker customer today who always tips extra.
Exceptional coffee! Visiting from NY and had on my last day. Friendly cashier, too!
The place has a very nice environment. Very open space filled with a very friendly staff. There is a lack of outlets and wifi, so be mindful that this place may not be the best for doing much computer work. However its a great place to catch up with a friend or two. If youre looking for a place to work on your latest writing prompt, this place would suffice as well. The coffee prices tend to be higher than average, though I wasnt disappointed with my Chile Hot Chocolate.
I really loved the coffee and chatty baristas here. The modern design makes the space very comfortable, clean looking (also it was kept very clean) and plenty of space. It is also on the quieter side which was nice. I tried an iced coffee an iced oat milk mocha which were both great. Note: they do not have almond milk here.
Delicious coffee from knowledgeable baristas. ☕
Stopped here on the recommendation of local friends who knew I was looking for good coffee while visiting Portland, and they didnt steer me wrong. Friendly service from the barista who gladly obliged when I requested my latte over ice since it was about 500 degrees outside. The honey cardamom latte is amazing. Never tried anything quite like it before. If you pick up a package of whole beans youll also get a cup of drip coffee for free!
I called both this location and the roastery to confirm they were open. Nobody picked up the phone, said if you left a message theyd get back to you in a few days. However, the recording did say that they were open 7 days a week as did their website so I figured that was confirmation enough. Nope, walked all the way over there to find out theyre closed on Monday. What a waste of time.
It’s a big beautiful space with lots of light. For nearly the cost of a full day of parking in the city you can get an egg sandwich and a cold brew coffee and have a leisurely morning. While the sandwich is delicious, it was messy to eat. The cold brew was also pretty good but since there is a glut of good coffee shops in this city, it’s the price that will keep me from coming back.
The decor here makes me feel at home, its super comfy and the coffee is also great.
One of the few espressos served in a paper cup a la Covid that I can say went down real nice. Normally I have no patience for espresso served in paper. This location is cool since it has some outdoor sidewalk seating. However there is a major construction project right across the street. That outdoor seating going to suck for a while 😢. Hence 4 stars not 5.
Honey cardamom latte! A special on the menu and I wanted to try it. It had a very interesting taste and made me feel warm inside. I would order it again if its available when in Portland. Im guessing this place is popular because my coworker knew the cafes name when I mentioned honey cardomom latte!
From the industrial aesthetics, the fantastic location, the homemade walnut-almond milk, and drinks like the Honey and Cardamom Latte, this place is worth checking out. I will note I did not observe gluten free options in their small pastry offerings, but the drinks are the thing you have to try! And look how pretty the drinks are!!
Holy wow this coffee is great! Iced coffee with oat milk and simple syrup and it’s packed with flavor and nothing about it is bitter or burnt. Coffee came out quick and staff was friendly🥰
The savory bowl and sweet bowl were both wonderful. Honey-cardamom latte was very good. The vertical wood paneling is dizzying to look at if you’re facing it, so consider sitting at one of the central tables.
Very delicious food. Great environment to sit and relax and enjoy music while having your breakfast. Make sure to order Chocolate Banana croissant. Strongly recommend this place to everyone who is happen to be in this neighborhood.
One of the best Americanos I’ve had in Portland.
I will not be returning.Their large latte was only 12oz, they didn’t offer almond milk, and it cost $6. I opted not to give a tip because it was my first time here and I wanted to see the quality. Before I paid the barista was kind and friendly. After I paid and it was revealed she wouldn’t be tipped she almost immediately lost all costumer service. No eye contact, not smiling, short answers. The level of entitlement is usually high among baristas, but if you’re not satisfied with your compensation you should negotiate with your employer. It is not the responsibility of the customer to subsidize your wages.
Very bitter cappuccino and drip coffee. Do not recommend. Headed for another cup elsewhere to get rid of the taste! I am sorely disappointed considering I’ve had a good latte (Heart coffee beans) at Nuvrei...
Love me some Heart. Great space and good seating. Yummy standard bites that go well with their delicious coffee.
A nice coffee shop. The interior has an all white-and-black minimalist design. Its got some good lighting and feels very clean (except for the odd bathrooms shared with the business next door). Bench seats and hard chairs available for seating. Overall a very good experience, even if the prices of the coffee can be a teeny bit high.
Heart coffeeModern and sleekVery spacious cafe, can’t really say much about this place but they have a house walnut almond milk which puts them apart from the rest. The latte art was on point and the latte was actually very tasteful.Overall I would come here to get work done and have a great tasting quality coffee.
This is honestly my favorite coffee shop in Portland. Their coffee is excellent and well brewed, they have a lovely selection of chocolates that pair well with the coffee and the atmosphere is well lit and warming. Highly recommend this place on cold rainy days where you just want light music, a warm coffee and a perfect atmosphere to read a book.
Acidic coffee if that’s your thing. I prefer more bitter and earthy. But great ambiance and solid service. Prices are fair. Clean bathroom and near lots of great things.
Great spot to sit and get some work done. Lots of natural light. Great atmosphere
Among Portlands chic cafes in its suburban, this is a cool spot to stay in the city proper. Clean and friendly staff and also a great place to work. Heart Coffee is surrounded by a few restaurants around so youre good on the go if you happen to look for a place to eat after your little coffee time.
The coffee here is delicious! And it is a calm, chill atmosphere with a super clean and spacious bathroom, plus outdoor seating. Try the Rich Kid! Its excellent! 🤩
Coffee is really fresh and wonderful. My go to spot for yummy pastries in the area. Staff is always friendly. It’s a small place, so sometimes it’s hard to find a seat. There is outside seating when it’s nice out though. Great place for a casual meeting
Stopped in for a quick coffee on the way to a workshop. Service was friendly and efficient. The pastries looked amazing however I never tried them. Great atmosphere so I will be back the next time I am in the area.
Pros: great feel, quiet, clean bathroom, pretty latte art, tasty coffee, semi-friendly staff.Huge con: you have to go into debt to get a 12oz coffee. Since when is $5.50 the going rate for 12oz? Or $3.50 for about 8oz of tea? Absolutely nonsensical. I definitely wont go back.
Great coffee!! Very busy, so you know it must be good. Even though there was a lot of seating, it was pretty full.
Spicy chai was good. Decent seating, and warm staff. If you need coffee accessories, they have those too
Honestly my favorite coffee in Portland. If youre looking for perfectly crafted, specially coffee, this is your place.
Everyone at our table was glad to be there. The service here is great. It has an awesome atmosphere.
Coffee a highly acidic. Food is very good but also very expensive. $2.5 for an egg or a slice of cheese. Staff is friendly and nice. For those prices you can afford to provide free wifi, specially since your building is a dead spot for connectivity.
Usually go for pumpkin spice latte or cappuccino, both fantastic. They have a good selection and a relaxed vibe. Great place for a coffee to go or working on a couple emails.
And here goes Heart off to “corporate coffee land”. No more home made walnut-almond milk now just oat. Bigger location has lost the vibe.Sad 😢
I wouldnt stop here unless you identify yourself as a hipster. We were out-of-towers who just wanted a nearby cup of coffee before hitting the road. The atmosphere is very sterile and there is no sense of urgency when the line is 5-10 people deep. The largest size up of coffee they offer is 16oz from what I can tell and Im not sure what kind of milk they use, but it had some extra flavor to it that I wasnt a fan of. If you are a hipster and have all morning to lounge around, then this coffee shop may be for you.
Love the stereo espresso for a cappuccino! A little more expensive, but Id say worth the price. Free WiFi and relatively quiet atmosphere. Great for working but maybe not for meetings if you dont want everyone to hear your conversation.
Heart is one of my favourite coffee roasters in North America so I was not surprised to love this location. Coffee was understandably fantastic, as was speed of service and staff knowledge. Of all the places to go for coffee in Portland, make sure Heart is on that list.
Delicious Americano, thanks!
Great coffee shop with delicious tea options as well. The atmosphere is sleek, modern, and hip. I would recommend this spot if you have some extra time to stay and relax, theres outdoor and indoor seating available for you to sit and enjoy your drink.
Good coffee, friendly service, and fair prices. I ordered a cappuccino which was fine, but the shot was somewhat over-extracted. It was a bit slow but they were also pretty busy when I was there. Check it out!
I wasnt able to spend as much time as I would have liked to here as I was riding a bike through the city to try to take it all in.I ordered a Gibraltar and am use to talking to the barista for a minute, but he didnt seem to friendly. Anyways, the coffee was delicious and the outside seating was refreshing. This is a great little spot to stop for a coffee.
Beautiful space - hip, chic, open, industrial. Friendly baristas! Awesome taste in music - indie and world music! What I loved the most - the fact they had choices of delicious espresso to choose from. My biggest complaint about Portland since I moved here in 2013 was that while I can find amazing coffee, the espresso has been consistently disappointing...but not at Heart, this place knows what is going on! Thanks for being awesome Heart
Had a vanilla latte, smooth as could be and the baristas were the friendliest ive seen in a while. great experience!
