I LOVE this store. Its become one of my favorite places to shop. The items are priced fairly and everything is so beautiful and made with so much love and care. The staff are always friendly, honest and helpful; never pushy.Artisan and vintage combine into an eclectic but calm style. The word pizaz comes to mind! Im always looking for something a little less mainstream, something you cannot doubt is quality, something that feels genuine. So far, I have two favorite vases by local ceramic artists, a gorgeous handmade walnut desk, and a hand-crafted bench. I plan to look here for plenty more as I make my home cozy and enjoyable, and for gifts sometimes.I cannot rave about this place enough, just walk through and youll find something that speaks to you. This opportunity to support so many artists in one space is magical.

Urbanite is a wonderful resource for the unusual reclaimed decor pieces that will highlight your home and make it special. They are far more than an antique mall. Their range is from industrial to mid century to old world. Each vendor’s booth is staged to spark your imagination and help you think beyond your expectations. I found two mid century chairs at Urbanite that still make my mind tingle when I look at them. I often stop in just to get ideas or to spark my imagination. Also the staff is very helpful.

(check out the nice response from Urbanite below) : Nice local Portland treasure with new things every day. Been coming here for a long time and every time I try my best to not leave with new purchases. A bit on the pricey side for many items like some other reviewers mentioned, but the quality is great and the service is awesome. Highly recommended on your list of thrift and similar stores to visit when youre looking to bring something special to your home.

👀 So much to look at!!! It all falls under the category of home decor but what type of home decor you ask? Antiques, modern, retro, plants, craft, art, wood, plastic, lamps, so much. We have been there a few times and stay for quite awhile. We love the succelents, vases, and chairs. Each area is divided up into separate spaces and its very easy to spend lots of time there. The day we went they had food at the front, lots of food. I got some black and white photos of 1920s Portland. We have been there when they have a swamp meet out in the parking lot too. Its a great place to roam around. Thank you #Urbanite

I have made three great purchases from here now. I love spending 30 minutes walking through getting ideas and enjoying the beautiful things. Lots of cool vintage and reused, upcycled items. And the staff were beyond friendly and helpful. It was lovely. If youre a tourist, I suggest getting your Portland souvenir here.

I paid for this dining room table that was covered up with display/sale items (see 1st pic) and agreed to pick it up the next day. There were no warnings that the covered portion was in different shape than the visible portions. I came to pick it up yesterday and saw it was badly scratched/marred (see 2nd pic) and said I wouldnt have purchased this if I had known the real condition. I was told that, all sales are final, there are no refunds and that I should just refinish it.

Urbanite appears to be an attempt at rebranding Grand Market Place. If you visited GMP youll recognize many of the vendors, some signage and staff.Even before the rebranding GMP started to move away from more unique vendors to those who specialize in trendy kitsch. Now many vendor spaces are managed by other antique vendors like Lounge Lizard. Theres nothing wrong with these vendors but they have their own store fronts just a few blocks away.

A positive blend of old world kitch and new styles offer something for everyone.A lot to see in every corner! This is a organized business that works very hard on keeping everything tidy and clean. Multiple vendors are represented in each booth in the classic fashion of many stores nowadays of its kind however at the only downside I noticed that they dont negotiate or accept offers. As you can see from the photos there are a lot of offerings of variety. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and very helpful. Bonus for remembering what customer service actually means. The attendant went above and beyond and even called one of the vendors to ask questions on my behalf for some research how about a particular item belonging to one of their vendors.I would go back. The prices were pretty steep for some of the items but thats not necessarily the stores fault as individual vendors that they represent. There are many good Bargains to be found among the higher-priced items and certainly a lot of fun to go look at. The spaces are very open with in each of the displays making it very easy for those who are handicapped to go in each display.Overall I had a good experience and found a couple of items for my own collections.*******UPDATE 6/26/2020******I have been back to this store and made another purchase and they were every bit as professional, helpful and kind as previous visit for this Google Reviewer. They get a BIG GREEN THUMBS up for that!

Holy cow! Urbanite is a Portland must! I was not expecting how huge it would be. They have a great selection of other local collectors and shops. Urbanite is awesome! We arrived to some very hospitable people at the door, and indeed throughout the store as we ran into various vendors displaying their wares. We had no idea it was as big a space as it is.Music piped throughout the store contributed extremely well to the ambiance of the place. We didn’t plan to stay long, but found ourselves perusing the many and varied collections much longer for all the fabulous finds! This vast enterprise was created with such great taste and an obviously energetic work ethic. I hear that the proprietor once designed interiors for Ralph Lauren. That design sense of style, color placement and flair is available to purchase to bring to one’s own home!

Review №78

Urbanite is very clean, well manicured, and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The two star review is a mere reflection of the evolution of this store, formerly Grand Marketplace, from an eclectic antique shop offering a wide range of styles, periods, and authentic old stuff of value, to a more commonly seen super trendy, marked up, ultra midcentury/modern shop. Its part of the hip trend towards antiques and things that are rough but still clean in home furnishings. This isnt to say there arent some great things in this store, but over the years it has become harder and harder to come across that find. As antique and reclaimed become even more desirable this is bound to happen. Prices go up, variety reduces, and a new trend will eventually be born. Think about the changes seen to Rejuvenation Hardware now that its been taken over by Williams Sonoma - everything is just cleaner and more magazine friendly. If youve read this review this far, I want to reiterate that everyone who Ive ever encountered at this store has been truly wonderful and pleasant. Theyve also been helpful in suggesting other stores for specific needs. I still recommend this store if youre out for some causal window shopping and want to walk through a museum of ultra trendy decor; its quite fun really. And, despite my perceived change in the store over time, Ill still stop in whenever Im in the neighborhood for sure. However, if youre seriously looking for usable antiques at a reasonable price and for something outside of the mid-century era, youll have a harder time finding it at Urbanite.

Mostly cheap, mass produced, faux-vintage items. Questionable prices.Response to owner: I did take the time to walk through the entire store twice over. What I saw was mass-produce items with manual destressing so that the items looked vintage.
