Doug is the best! I got my Sansui 6060 back up and running with the fuses he keeps in stock. Cool retro receivers, amplifiers, and speakers on display. I need to bring my old Denon in and have it gone through too. This is the only place in Portland / Vancouver you should ever bring your home audio equipment for repair. Ive been going here for years, and I always look forward to seeing the cool stuff he has to offer. Go in and check out the retro Macintosh amplifier! Hell plug it in if you want to give it a go. They dont make sound like these old systems do anymore. Old school or no school when it comes to audio for me! Cool store. Keep it up! :-)

This is one of those finely tucked hidden gems for HiFi aficionados. The proprietor of this shop obviously does it for the love of good quality music (great jazz was playing when I came in) and the equipment that can reproduce it. Think wooden cabinets and 70s Pioneer amps and speakers. If you have an old but refurbishable component from the 70s, he may buy it at a fair price, and lovingly replace worn components to give it a new lease on life, destined for a new home that appreciates the golden era of solid-state HiFi.Even if you just need a repair, give them a call before relegating to Goodwill or a trash bin.One last note; the storefront itself is located on 122nd on the NW corner of the building, so dont get confused if you are looking and dont find it from the parking lot. Best to park on the S.side of the building and walk around to the shop.

I was having issues with the right channel on my cherished Marantz receiver. Took it in, described the issue, and was told it would be done in about three weeks. Just under two weeks later, I received a message that it was ready for pick up. Im back home with it now and its like a brand new receiver. A+ experience all around. Thanks Doug!!!

Doug went above and beyond & cleaned components that were not specifically requested. I brought in a vintage Technics RS-M45 cassette deck that, one day, failed to Play/FF/RW. Not only was this fixed, but he also cleaned all of the dials, cleaned other internal components and demagnetization. It functions like new. Could not be happier and the price was great! This is my new go to shop for my gear.

Doug at Audio Specialties stands by his work. Took in my Mitsubishi vertical turntable—Ive been told by another technician that this is a very hard model to work on. As requested, Doug replaced the belt, but when I can came home something didnt sounds right. I took it back, Doug worked on the speed (at no charge) until it sounded amazing. Thank you Doug for going the extra mile.

Doug is the man. Hes repaired both a ground on my vintage Kenwood, and also gave new life to my early 70s Sherwood receiver -- it sounds amazing now that the stereo channel works. Never thought Id get to hear it. Their repair rates are very fair and reasonable, plus they have an awesome collection of vintage systems for sale at the shop. 5 stars all the way.

I really like Doug there, I was born in Portland and he (Doug)does not argue about electronics! He just rifles through his electronics like there is no tomorrow,he is the houdini when I see him working back there on the electronics. I was gone for 9 years and I to find out that everybody like Hollywood,California is arguing about electronics. Been to Switzerland, France, Kingdom of Netherlands,UK,Central America,Mexico(16) times and all across Canada and they do not argue about electronics like Doug. I even bought this this laptop from a gal in Vegas,I kept repeating myself that I took vocational electronics in high school,I sold 2 others for her, diagnosed one bad in 35 minuets and she was rude? this never happens in foreign countries? I dont know how many times people have tried to sell me Beats headphones and I tell that I have Akai and Sennheiser and they say that dont know what I am talking about?

I took in my late husbands Denon cd player to hopefully get it repaired. Well when I got the call about how much, I asked if it was worth the price.........well I received a honest answer no. I was then told he had better used cd players for less than the repair quote. I am now a customer for life! Great customer service and a great experience. I would recommend this business. This might be my first negative review for amy business... I went in to purchase a new (to me) receiver. The shop was empty. He didnt seem interested in answering my questions, and literally picked up the phone and started making a phone call then turned around while I was in mid-sentence. Wow. Too bad. Seems like he had some decent stuff in there, but that was just too rude to spend my money there...

Doug the shop proprietor, really knows his trade. He repaired & refurbished an old Marantz Model 26 receiver that Id inherited from my dad. He also gave me a decent deal on a fresh turntable stylus for a vintage Technics Sl-D3 that I recently acquired. In addition, he showed me how to properly adjust it, as Id never owned such an elaborate record player before. Now Im having a blast rediscovering my old vinyl. Its a pleasure to be able to support and recommend this local business. Thanks again, Doug!

Doug repaired 3 pieces of Marantz gear for me and did it for over $100.00 less than a shop in Beaverton had quoted. They had charged me $25.00 per piece for the estimates. When I told them their quote was too much they told me to go packing. They refused to even refund a portion of my $75.00. The shop in Beaverton has no integrity. Stay away from this repair shop in Beaverton. They are located on the corner of Farmington and Watson. Echo Audio had recommended Audio Specialties to me and am I glad they did, Doug is the best ! Fast and reasonably priced.
