An iconic Portland music venue supporting PDX’s rich music community. Featuring talent at many levels from world famous to local grown. This place reminds me of the Village Vanguard, a place I so enjoyed in New York. Everything works for a great music experience.

This is the greatest place of all time and if you are smart you will see the Funky Knuckles here time and time again and never give up your dreams. They are a world famous squadron of cabbage eating ostrich men with impeccable dental hygiene. Most of the horse meat on the menu is locally sourced and organic.

The Jack London Review is in the Rialto Pool Hall, where it occupies the bottom floor. The bottom floor is self-contained and self-sufficient, meaning that it has its own bar, restrooms, etc., so youll not have to leave once youre down there. Ive seen several shows here, and the layout, stage height, and PA system are all great. Please be sure to bring earplugs, though, as oftentimes, the sound engineer turns it up way too loud. There are many parking garages immediately in the area, so parking is generally never an issue.

Friendly people, amazing music. Chatted with the promoter for Sunday night Soul Night. He goes around Portland finding the best musicians in the city and gives them a place to do their thing. Would highly recommend checking it out for some of the best live music acts in town.

Best underground jazz club in town. Getting through the Rialto can be hairy but once you’re downstairs, it’s paradise. Strong bookings combining up and coming players as well as established greats.

Very cool vibe. The food is quite good and not too pricy for a night club vibe. Most of the bar tenders are very friendly. The reason to go here would definitely have to be the live music. In the absence of Jimmy Macs, this place is one of the main spots for quality jazz/soul/r&b.

This venue was perfect for what I needed: a comfy cozy night out by myself to see some talent. The venue had warm cozy lighting, and the sound was perfect for the UK jazz group I saw. No earplugs, and no ringing in my ears after the show! Thats huge for me. I hate fighting the sound volume at almost every other show Ive ever been to 😣. Extreme loudness does not make players sound better. Luckily at this show that didnt get in the way.Thank you Dan!The crowd was so good too. No pickup vibes. Just enjoyers of music. Sooo good.I had the steak salad which was on super fresh baby greens and delicious.Maybe the positive vibe from the band helped to create the events atmosphere, but Im hoping this venue is just the place for me and people like me: music and ambiance lovers and dance revelers of the positive kind.Amen.

This basement jazz club feel classy and intimate without being stuffy or pretentious. This was a great place to see live jazz in a cozy environment with great ambiance. The unfussy drinks, fast service, and comfortable seats made this a great first stop on a night out. Even though its a little hard to spot, since its in the basement of the Rialto, its definitely worth making the effort to check out.

Really enjoyed the booth seating and the fact that its an unpretentious jazz lounge. Food was good, but not outstanding. Live sound mix definitely came across as muddy and vocals from the talent definitely got 100% lost a few times in the instrumentals. It wasnt excessively loud though, which was nice. Drinks were far too expensive though - $12 for a Spanish coffee? Give me a break.

The ackward room makes it nearly impossible to see the band unless you have seats right up front, and there arent many. We got there when doors opened to get a seat and ended up having to sit behind a post.It was a very crowded show and I thought a three piece was playing. It wasnt until we were leaving that I saw they were a four piece, the guitarist was standing behind another post! When I mentioned to the manager that we couldnt see anything at all and they had oversold the show, he said, Yes, you wont be able to see anything unless you stand wayyy to the right or wayyy to the left of the room. Swell. We certainly didnt get what we paid for. One doesnt go out to hear a show, one goes out to see a show.

Would give NO stars if possible. The drink mixing, which was unworthy of anyone calling themselves a professional, prompted my friend to write a note complimenting the food and the service from the lady bartender but telling them the drink mixing was substandard and left something to be desired. Within our group there were two of the same cocktail mixed back to back with wildly different proportions and both tasting terrible. We tipped 20% regardless, being restaurant industry workers ourselves.THE AWFUL PART was a friend in our group forgot her bag at the bar and when she went to retrieve it the bald grizzly bouncer with the unkempt beard swore at her, asking if she left that f***ing note, after which she was further berated by the latino bartender. When called the establishment was completely unreachable by phone. Will actively discourage patronage of this bar to everyone I know. Absolutely shameful behavior.

We’ve been to the Jack London many times for the music.THE MUSIC IS AWESOME!!!! So go for the music not for the food or the service. Our last experience...Upon arriving we were going to order food. The menu had a few items crossed out by what it looked like a 2yr old. After deciding what we wanted to order the server told me that was the old menu..ok well where is the new menu? Hum? Anyway placed our order which proceeded to take 1 1/2 hours to receive. After 1 hour upon checking on what the heck was going on we were told they were out of chicken for my salad. Ok well we ordered chicken wings at that point. 20 minutes later she told us they made the salad if it was ok to have crispy chicken . I said Fine... the salad arrived about 15 min later with chicken strips. She also brought our chicken tacos at the same time (1 1/2 hours after ordering). I asked for a condiment & that took another 20 min. In the middle of all this we ordered a beer...She came back & said they were out. Ordered another beer, out of that too. (I’m betond frustrated at this point). Never touched the food. Went to the restroom & they were out of soap. There was a yellow mustard container with soap written in it that was also empty.
