Met w/super friendly staff and cool atmosphere-wish I had made dinner reservations!18 oysters to-go and staff helped me pick them out-loved the local stories behind the oysters. Left w/oysters, 2 different mignonettes, an ice pack and a oyster knife! Full of flavor, clean and crisp-absolutely perfect and worth the drive. A must stop! Thanks so much!

The best oysters Ive ever had. Found this place down the street from the Airbnb we were staying at and glad we did! Service was quick and the servers were very friendly. Our drinks were delicious and the oysters were so fresh. Will definitely come back if in the area again! The best part of our Portland visit.

I just happened upon this oyster shucking class when looking for a location to eat some oysters in Portland. It seriously was the highlight of our trip! The class was wonderful, the oysters were fabulous and we learned a new skill! Highly recommend this to pick up on some local culture and enjoy some fine dining! Slurp!

The best oysters we have ever had. Fresh as if we had picked them ourselves. Will be making a special trip just to visit this wonderful little hole in the wall. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved the fact that the person behind the oyster bar explained the oysters origin and even showed us how to shuck. Loved it!!! Number 1 lobster roll.

Weve had oysters from all over portland and these were by far the ones we liked the best! Very nice, small oyster bar and the staff was so nice and very helpful. Dont let the area its located deter you from stopping here because you will not regret it. Call for reservations because the seating is very limited. I will recommend this place to everyone who visits Maine!

Tried every oyster in the house. All scored over 7 on 1-10 scale, most 8-10. Emily and Zoey complete a picture of perfection here. Worth the few steps extra to get there, great environment, beer selection, and oyster shooters ! Won’t be disappointed!

No wonder this place has an avg 5 stars. It is *outstanding*. The oysters are wonderful and below market price, the drinks are inventive, and the service is hands-down the absolute best in Portland. I just want to live here.

We decided to do Oyster happy hour here... walking in we assumed all oysters were half price because of the way it was presented in the ice box. The waitress never shared with us that only one oyster was on “special” for happy hour. (She wasn’t the friendliest)The Oysters were delicious! The menu was very descriptive with details about the Oyster and their locations.

This was the best experience of our entire trip! What a FANTASTIC place! I thought it would be kitschy, commercialized, and jam packed...the total opposite. This was a neighborhood place with prosecco on tap, and fantastic oysters that were only overshadowed by the excellent serving staff. Note: all the shuckers were women!Then, one of their oyster farmers came with a delivery and they gave us a half dozen of his fresh catch COMPLIMENTARY.Holy cow...what a great place!

Best oysters in Maine. Great service. Owner/manager gave us the process of farming oysters, walked us through, and the food was phenomenal. Also I visited Boston before Maine, tried lobster roll at a lot of places, this place has been by far my favorite lobster roll!

Oyster shucking class was a ton of fun and was very enjoyable for my wife and I. The owner and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The oysters are grown local and were delicious. Highly recommend!!

An absolutely wonderful spot you should not miss if you enjoy oysters. Great relaxed atmosphere and the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a ton about oyster farming and how valuable that process is to the ecosystem. Also they have a great happy hour special, $1.25 for a particular oyster and $5 draft beer (and its good stuff like Maine Lunch). Come here!!

Ive ordered from them twice so far during the pandemic, once to CT and once to NH, and they are just fantastic. The oysters come quickly, are absolutely delicious, and they come with a delicious mignonette and information about where they come from. I went here for my birthday yesterday (and I NEVER write reviews-- everyone was so helpful and passionate about oysters (including a nice fisherman at the bar) I was treated like an oyster queen and got the supreme oyster treatment. I had never tried them before and everyone was so helpful in teaching me and my love how to shuck/eat/enjoy oysters. I even bought a shirt to commemorate. I loved it here! Cannot recommend enough! Maine Oyster Company is a hidden Gem in Portland. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but also very welcoming. The staff was super friendly and provided great service, and the owner took the time to come and chat about the oysters and shared some knowledge on the new caviar that was just added to the menu. The oysters and the caviar were phenomenal! The drinks are great here too. Its one of my new favorite places and I encourage everyone to stop in and experience this wonderful restaurant!

I had my first experience at Maine Oyster Company during a seaweed event a few months ago during a seaweed event. I had a blast. The Oysters were delicious. I cant remember the origins of the oysters I tried, I enjoyed each type. The dipping sauces were really good as well. The cocktails that night were seaweed themed and delicious. There service was friendly and helpful. I was not embarassed at being an oyster novice at all. It is a wonderful addition to the renewal of the back cove area of Portland. They seem well informed and supportive of the aquaculture community that it depends on. It was a fun night and I hope to get back soon.

Great seafood place, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The best part is the oyster menu, of course, which explains where each variety comes from and what to expect from the taste. They also brew their own Oyster-stout, which I havent gotten to try yet, but sounded quite good. The place itself is a little out-of-the-way, but definitely worth the trip.

Not keen on giving reviews but wanted to share ordering experience. placed 2 orders on december 5th; 50 oysters for december 23rd and 50 oysters for december 31st. didnt get any shipping notification so called. the receipt was for the two separate dates but they combined them and planned on sending 100 oysters on december 31st. too late to get anything sent for christmas since its the weekend. hoping for better luck on the 31st.update; ordering snafu rectified; very professional and courteous! oysters arrived today; freshness, quality second to none! highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.

The oyster marionette was so good you can drink it on its own! The oysters are hands down the best I had in Portland. Take a walk if the beaten path and explore MOC- you wont regret it. The lobster roll and oyster shooters are fabulous as well!

My partner and I went for the first time tonight. Writing a review right away as we had a great experience. Excellent food for sure, everything seems sourced locally which really came through strong in the flavor department. Best oysters I think Ive ever had. Good atmosphere and we had some enjoyable/educational conversations with the staff. It was also significantly less crowded than some of the other restaurants just a 5-10 minute walk away. This place was worth the short walk though, will be back.

Great oyster bar, by someone who obviously has a passion for them. Simple, not trying too hard which always ruins a good thing. Bayside is changing fast, as the developer gold rush moves in. I hope anyone new finds a way to be part of it instead of just calling the cops till its gone.
