Summer Salt ice cream became our new favorite ice cream shop over the summer. The staff is always friendly and are happy to let you sample before making your decision. I always get one scoop of the ooey gooey butter cake. It is amazing! And with a homemade waffle cone, you can’t go wrong. I’ve never had a flavor I didn’t enjoy. They will also let you get two half scoops, so you don’t have to get a double scoop to order two flavors; which is very helpful for my waistline.There are several places to sit outdoors and a few stools to sit inside. You can also order outside at the window if you don’t want to go inside.

Wonderful, unique ice cream flavors. Friendly staff. Great location. This has become a huge hit in our community since replacing a neighborhood staple.

I went the hot afternoon of 2021-08-23, around 4:50PM or so. For me, my experience was wonderful. There were two young women working, one handling the in-store customers and one handling the walk up window. I went inside and the young woman I interacted with was kind and helpful. I can confirm that there are about 6 to 8 bar stool height chairs available for indoor eating; the outside seating, as other reviews have mentioned, is copious. Due to this being my first time eating this ice cream, I cannot speak to multiple flavor experiences. What I can say it this: two scoops of snickerdoodle ice cream in one of their waffle cones was a delight. Ill definitely be returning. Thanks Summer Salt Ice Cream!

I love little ice cream shops like these.. They had a large area with tables to eat outside and they have this Lavender Honey flavor that is the best ice cream Ive had in a while. Also recommend the Cookie Dough - its like cake batter with giant dough pieces 👌👌💯💯

We were looking for a new place to try. This place exceeded all our expectations. Ice cream was great with all kinds of yummy choices. The waffle cone was like no other. It was sweet and crispy and did not get soft. We will be back even though it is a drive for us.

Decent ice cream. Tastes homemade-ish. Have most basic and a few specialty flavors. Waffle cone was quality. Shake was really thin however.

Great ice cream shop. I really appreciate the commitment to sustainability. Metal tasting spoons, wood/paper cups and a compost bin for trash. Hopefully more shops will follow their lead.

Have only visited once, and not impressed by employees. Lack luster service, and although the mint chip and vegan chocolate were tasty, $10 for two small scoops is seriously ridiculous. Had the service been better, and therefore the experience enjoyable, I likely wouldn’t have minded as much about price. Unfortunately, the experience was much less than I would expect from a high dollar ice cream shop. Will give the shop another try, and will update if I see improvement from last visit. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Highly disappointed with my first experience there. By word of mouth through the KC vegan FB page, I was excited to try this place based on their good selection of vegan ice creams. Unfortunately, the staff had no knowledge if any of their cones were vegan friendly and they seemed extremely uninterested and unmotivated to find out for me. When I asked what cones were vegan friendly, their response was “I don’t know” and proceeded to just look at me. I had to ask for them to find out. I felt very unwelcome there. Also, I find it very unappetizing that they handle money and touch many other non-food items without changing their gloves before preparing a food order. Gross. I will not be going back.

Great place the owner was very personable and knowledgeable. He was homemaking toffee. Not only do they have regular ice cream they have vegan ice cream and sherberts

Love this place! The dogs do too! We often get the lavender honey vanilla, the cookies and cream and the soft serve! Always friendly service, that is prompt and kind!

Great ice cream and waffle cones! Just please, please stop running out of the vegan chocolate (not the soft serve version, the other one). Last three times we visited, that one was out. I can’t eat dairy and I only like coconut based ice creams so I’m missing your chocolate!

Literally the best I’ve cream hands down! We get two pints almost weekly! The service is amazing. All the employees are so helpful and are just the sweetest people! I’ve tried ice cream from all over the country and summer salt is definitely my new favorite place!

Sure, Summer Salt has wonderfully crafted ice cream flavors that run the gamut from expected to exceptional but they have, arguably, one of the best tasting waffle cones Ive ever eaten. I think they use spun/toasted sugar and salted butter in their batter because the resulting texture and flavor is super crave-worthy.To be honest, the one thing keeping this from getting 5 full stars is the fact that these awesome waffle cones really arent very good at keeping the runny melt from the ice cream inside the cone from seeping through the super porous texture and onto your hands. So, eat it quickly... or youll be sticky. But it is worth the risk! ;)

Yummy ice cream. Theres a walk up window or you can go inside to order. Theres chairs & tables outside to sit at.

Good Flavors. Price is more expensive but it is 100% Natural homemade ice cream. Soft serve and dipped flavors available as well as toppings.

Really good ice cream. The ice cream cookies are excellent, from the freezer. The cookies and cream ice cream is awesome. So are the New Orleans Praline, the Grasshopper, and the Waffle Toffee flavors. Friendly staff.

Not a place for winter enjoyment. No indoor seating. The outdoor seating was not heated and some was covered in snow.The ice cream was a bit better than store bought. We ended up eating it in our car. Not the experience we wanted for date night.

Ice cream was great. But one of the staff was rude. I had just put my spoon down after she had given me a tester. Staff blurted out you need to put your mask on if you are not testing. I did tell her I had just put the spoon down. I found it to be rude ...... was it an issue that I was wearing my scrubs???? If there is one that knows the precautions it us nurses coz we see it everyday and take care of the patients .

Quaint ice cream shop in Prairie Village that is family owned. Ice cream is flavorful and delicious to satisfy my tastebuds on a hot day. Lots of clever and crafty flavors to choose from at this shop. ❤ the vegan selection. Outdoor seating plentiful and we enjoyed our treat spaced out. A bit $, but worth the treat.

It was OK. Would I go out of my way to go? No, but if Im in the area Ill go again. It has vegan options though for the vegans out there.

Finally, a cure for being grumpy has been discovered. Ice cream is so good, it will turn any frown upside down. Great flavors and menu. Excellent customer service. Super polite and respectful staff. Highly recommend. :)

Not too small, not too big...just right.The staff is large enough to work through a summer rush fairly efficiently. The outside seating is plentiful with sufficient space to accommodate the bikes of several cyclists at a time.The ice creams available vary from childhood favorites to new flavor adventures.

I love this place! There is so much heart and soul put into their ice cream! Soft serve, ice cream cookie sandwiches, tons of gluten free & seasonal options, floats..on & on! I have always loved everything my family has gotten, & it’s a good think I don’t live closer! Follow their IG @summersalticecreamco and it will have you salivating!

A tad pricey but well worth it. I had the salted caramel and it was devilishly good. Store was very clean and the staff was friendly and fast.

Walked up to the outside window after a group of three placed an order with no one inside waiting. 5 minutes later still no help at the window while people entering inside were getting helped now. Guess I’ll try again some other time and just go inside…

It’s a blessing and a curse to live so close to this gem! I have tried SO many flavors, and I’ve loved every single one. They have fancy flavors for those who want the adventure - like fit/goat cheese - but even their classics are above and beyond. My whole fam is obsessed this this place!

Lots of choices if you cant consume milk or gluten!!

I saw on Instagram that they offer gluten free cones and dairy free (vegan) Ice creams. I messaged them to see what their vegan base was made of as I have many food allergies. They have ice creams made form oat milk, almond milk and coconut milk. I explained to them that I was allergic to coconut and oats so I would need an almond base but was also allergic to strawberries. They messaged me back and said that their owner Curtis was working on new flavors and would make me a new flavor with an almond milk base. They made me a mocha fudge chocolate ice cream with almond milk! It was fabulous! It wasn’t too sweet, the fudge was made from dates and cocoa and tastes amazing and actually had an ice cream consistency unlike some vegan ice creams you purchase at the store! The gluten free cone had a great flavor but was a bit chewy. I haven’t had a cone in years though so I didn’t mind! Also, they have all recyclable products (wooden spoons, cups and napkins) so that makes me really happy! My partner got their snickerdoodle ice cream and said it was fabulous! It was a bit pricey but def worth the splurge!

The kids that work there are always super sweet and patient. My son gets a little excited and can never decide what he wants. The Lavender Honey is worth writing home about!
