The high praises online convinced me to try it, and the feeling of familiarity has made me into a returning customer.I wanted to get something special for my girlfriend’s birthday, not just another store bought cake. As this was my first custom cake buying experience I can honestly say I am very new to this. The woman on the phone helped me every step of the way to craft the perfect cake. (06/02)It was ready for pickup the next day (06/03). The bakery is located in a beautiful area right in the heart of Federal Hill. The bakery itself is a sophisticated shop with a warmth to it. I knew I was about to win boyfriend of the year.The staff was very friendly and very easy going. I felt like I was picking up an order from a bakery I’ve been going to for years. The cake came out better than I could imagine. The frosting was thick. It was the perfect consistency. The cake itself impressed me the most. It was everything you could want in a cake. It was moist enough so that it wasn’t dry, but not a soggy cake. I impressed everyone at the birthday and it’s all thanks to Scialo’s Bakery.

A shadow of its former self (pre Covid). The new owners, don’t seem to be ready for prime time. I was there at 9am, when a bakery should be stocked and smell delicious. The store was 80% empty of products. The few pastries were day old. The kitchen was dark and no one was even baking. Like this? It won’t survive long, especially with Roma, Tony’s and Constantino’s all 1 minute away.
What a wonderful surprise to see Scialo Bakery open again. The people there are so wonderful.

When my daughter was born in 1977, my husband, who was a Russian major at URI, went to Scalios bakery and bought Russian tea cakes and brought them to me at the hospital; I had never heard of them but they were the prettiest cakes I ever saw and the frosting was super. On my daughters first birthday, I bought more.
Italian cookies picked up Friday and served in Vermont for graduation Party! Huge success!
After several disappointing appointments with other bakeries, including a tasting where the owner offered to sell us cupcakes to try the flavors they carried (seriously?) we happened upon Scialo for my sisters wedding. They were so friendly and the (COMPLIMENTARY) cupcakes and then her cake were so delicious, when I got married my husband and I didnt even bother looking elsewhere—we got our cake there also. Weve been back almost every year for our anniversary cake (when my toddler was an infant we stayed home on our anniversary—no one had the energy to drive an hour!) and its always delicious. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the one time we were disappointed by the decoration on the cake (the usual decorator was out sick) they made things right immediately. Cant wait for next years cake!
Had our wedding cake made here. Design was fantastic. The white almond flavor was so good that people are still talking about it 1 year later. They even honored their promise of giving a small cake to match our wedding cake 1 year later. Maybe a bit more expensive than some others but this is definitely a step above.

On every driving trip to New England (5-8/year), I stop in bring home an enormous amount of pastry and bread. The bakery goods in Providence far exceed the quality of anything weve ever found in the greater Philadelphia/Northern Delaware area. Worth dragging home 300 plus miles!!

I got the raspberry walnut crumble and the pistachio cranberry cookies. I was in RI on a business trip and thought, Ill save these goodies until I get home. Omg... Now I wish i had bought more!! As I was admiring the beautiful wedding cake in the window, a passing stranger recommended I try the Russian tea cake. It tasted as good as it looked! Beautiful yellow, red, and green cake with a fresh berry spread beneath the frosting. The bakers were friendly and informative, too.
This place has been a staple for more for at least 25 years! Fresh and Tasty! I couldnt even tell you my favorite item....its all too good to choose just one!

I came to New England to visit my husbands family for Christmas. We made sure to head into Providence to explore where his parents grew up, and of course, we had to go to Scialo Brothers. The employees were very nice and helpful. We were given pizza strips for free (perhaps because it was so late in the evening, perhaps because Im from out of state). I bought many treats to bring home to share; I only wish I wasnt 2,000 miles away!
So much love here! I ordered a custom cake with fondant work and not only was it gorgeous but it was amazingly delicious. I grabbed zeppoles and eclairs and tiramisu... it was all so good! This bakery makes me want to move to Providence!

This bakery is probably one of the best in Providence. Small mom-n-pop bakery with a wide selection of treats and breads. Tiny parking lot makes getting in and out easy, which can be tough sometimes on Atwells Ave.
The best desserts on earth. I get my raviolis and walk a block to get apricot tarts or ricotta pie with lemoncello. Goodness gracious.

First, let me clarify that this bakery is in Providence not Cranston. The bakery is located in Providences Little Italy area of Federal Hill. Scialos is on Atwells Avenue which is the main road through this area of Providence. Having been to Italy many times, the last time was June 2018, I can honestly tell you that this place, the minute you walk through the front door, reminds you of being in Italy. The pastries are old world style, authentic recipe delights. They are somewhat pricey but I have to gladly admit that they are worth the price. You are getting supremely high quality baked good as no corners are ever cut here, period. The building has an early 1900s design which only adds to the charm. They also have their own gated parking lot which is great as Atwells Avenue can be very busy and often difficult to find a parking spot. Another grat feature of this bakery is its location which is in the heart of Providences Little Italy area so there are lots of fine shops, resturants, and various other attractions nearby, all within walking distance. If you ever in Providence please do yourself a favor and visit Scialos, you wont regret it.

Wonderful traditional bakery where you leave with a full box of pastries wrapped with double strands of string by helpful staff. Cookies, Date-nut squares, cupcakes and even Individual slices of cake, including my favorite orange liqueur Cassata sponge cake covered with marzipan. Everything here is delicious.

Chocolate cupcake was very moist and good. The almond cupcake was not sweet enough. The frosting was almost flavorless. Apparently I should have had the vanilla cupcake. I just may go back and try it.
This is one of the best bakeries in the state. I order all my special cakes from them. Cakes are always moist, the best butter cream frosting, cakes are beautiful. I recommend Scialos to all my friends, everyone is always pleased.
Everything except the cannoli were stellar. I am not too sure why they say this is the best place in Federal Hill to get a cannoli but it was terrible. Everything I got with Frangipane was excellent, the cheesecake my husband got was incredible. Everything there looked phenominal and we will definitely be back when in the area. However not for the cannoli.
So many choices it’s hard to choose. Went with coconut macaroon cookies and cannolis. NOT disappointed!

Just OK. Tiramisu was good but had too much cream on top layer. No pizelles or anisette cookies...why would an Italian bakery not have these? Disappointed.

Scialo Bros. BakeryThis is one of our favorite food sources on Federal Hill. Their pastries are fresh-made on the premises and delicious. The bowties and elephant ears are perfect to have with coffee or espresso as are either one of their cheese cakes. My wife loves the rich, velvety smooth classic style. My favorite is the ricotta cheese cake. It has a light, soft texture with hints of lemon and vanilla flavors to compliment the creamy ricotta cheese. Luckily they sell both by the slice and we are each able to enjoy the one we prefer. Along with great pastries, their “Sicilian” bread is a bread lover’s dream come true. It has a very thick, hearty crust encasing a soft and chewy center of scrumptious bread; perfect for absorbing any style of pasta sauce or just savoring a slice drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with a helping of pungent parmesan cheese. We recently brought a large loaf to a friend’s house for dinner and they are still raving about “how great this bread is” and they were right, it is terrific! For us, Scialo Bros. Bakery is the place for wonderful bread and delectable pastries.

This is a great bakery with fresh Italian bread and rolls, pizza strips, spinach pies, and some of the best pastry on Federal Hill. You can choose from whole cakes and pies or individual pieces of pastry such as eclairs, carrot cake, Tiramisu, cannolis, cheesecake slices, or other favorite Italian desserts. The people who work there are wonderful and very helpful. Be adventurous and have them recommend something to try, you won’t be disappointed. While the prices are not that of your supermarket bakery, you will taste the difference when fresh, high quality ingredients are used.

Best old world bakery on federal hill
Ordered the lemon squares - very disappointed. Very dry and the filing was hint of lemon rather than actual lemon flavor. The cookies and pastries seem more popular.
You will only get good customer service if you go in with your expensive designer bag and expensive clothes. Dont even care how the cakes taste after that experience. Treat everyone equal!! Not everyone who makes good money needs to flaunt it.
