The food was great. It was late in tge evening but the food was still hot and fresh. Only thing was the girl didnt understand a word I was saying to her. 😅 she still hooked it up though 😊

Merengue is a cafeteria style restaurant where you order going down a line of food. The predominant language is Spanish but you should not have much trouble ordering in English. The portions are very good. Plates of meat rice and a side salad start at $8 going up depending on what meat, and will definitely keep you full for a long time. It can be a bit hot inside. All the food Ive had has been delicious, service friendly and portions leave you ready for a nap. They take credit but the minimum is $12 which can actually be hard to hit alone even with a drink. Dont go expecting a fancy spot, but go expecting authentic delicious food.

The food is great I just wish they had someone on the staff that spoke and understood English so their isnt much of a language barrier so those who arent fluent or cant speak Spanish can order easier

I like going there for lunch. Everything is always fresh, they have a nice variety of food choice, and their price is good. The only reason I dont give them 5 stars is because they dont have parking and parking on Cranston street is not easy.

This is a good place to get a quick bite. They have all the typical Dominican dishes. You can choose from many different meats, usually beef, chicken, pork and sometimes fried fish but my favorite of all is their roasted chicken.

If you want to spend little money and have amazing food then heres your place but keep in mind the portions are very little before they were great now super little but the food here is still delicious.

Plenty of selections to chose from, food is very fresh and flavorful. I definitely will return. The restaurant resembles a Dominican restaurant from the Bronx, with great food at its finest.

There food is not as good as Fogon Latino. There prices are lower than Fogon Latino. The food however is tasty and they give a lot of food for the price $5 a plate that is amazing. 4 stars because the price is great. Minimum credict card purchase however is $10.

Always have a Great selection of food at a very good deal! The plates of food are priced well, you wont be disappointed. The area/neighborhood is not the best but the flavorful food is worth the adventure.

I brought 3 friends here because I heard how good the food is. 1 was dominican 1 was portuguese, and 1 was puerto rican. The food was dried out and not good at all. Very disappointed.

The people are rude. Very impatient. They dont wait for you to make your choice at all. For them it seems to be employees first not the costumer. Their faces look extremely rude when serving you and made me feel unwanted there the many times I have been there.

I went to the Dairy King next door for a Sunday with a friend. At one point loud music started coming from the merengue restaurant and we cracked up laughing because it sounded like the Wailing of a cat in heat, it was awful and it went on and on
