This is what it means to shop local - a beautiful curated shop filled with interesting, useful and beautiful gifts right here in Providence. And if you are buying a gift - the gift wrapping is absolutely gorgeous. What I love most is that I can go and find things in all price ranges for whatever occasion I need. I also think the world of Mary and her daughter Alice who own the shop and are there everyday to make whatever youre looking for a success. During the spring and summer months their garden is a wonderful place to take a moment and breathe in some fresh air. Parking is easy too. I can not more highly recommend!!

I was really excited to check out this little store from the outside. The solo white woman working the counter was oddly, incredibly, and blatantly rude when we said hello and then hello again when she didn’t respond. Perhaps she was having a bad day - but it assured me I should never buy anything from this store. The indelible impression of a few words let us know clearly “we don’t need the business of your kind here.”

I was excited to visit the shop, but upon arrival, the owner was extremely rude. She was in a hurry and did not appear to want the busy. I try very hard to shop local and support small businesses owned and operated by women, but I will never shop there again. Not only was the owner in a hurry and rude, but she was so unbelievably unfriendly. Her responses to our questions were clipped, one word responses.

Mary and Alice share the keenest eyes for the BEST treats in every category! Simple Pleasures is a MUST for holiday shopping, and for simply enjoying the beautifully curated shop at the most festive time of year! Simple Pleasures should really be called Extraordinary Pleasures. It is without a doubt my favorite shop in America. I do have a couple of others in Paris and Amsterdam, but its a bit more difficult to get to them. Every morning when I get dressed, I ask myself what wonderful piece I should put on that came from Simple Pleasures: pants, tops, dresses, jewelry, scarves, tote bags--not to mention fountain pens, greeting cards, journals, baby goodies, and more. Just as cool as the merchandise is the tiny little antique building that houses the store. Its like something out of Alice in Wonderland. So if youre ever in Providence, make it a point to go to Simple Pleasures. Youll think youve fallen down the Rabbit Hole!

I love this little store. Its not inexpensive but I always purchase something - because everything in it is irresistible. A GREAT place to find gifts. So many unusual things! I plan on going back very soon.

Super place for gifts or something for yourself. Cozy quaint shop.

The older woman who owns(?) this place has never once acknowledged me when Ive visited multiple times. She is always preoccupied, chatting with some other middle aged woman who has too much time and money on her hands. She uses an archaic system to ring up your purchases and acts like you must have as much time to dawdle as she does.

Love this shop, beautifully curated and always something new and nice.
