Love the baked goods on certain days, The main thing that I dislike is the smell inside..Im not sure what could be done but it would certainly be a positive change. You end smelling like a sandwich after you get home.
A lovely and small cozy coffee shop. The baked food offerings are really great and tasty. I’ve tried all the vegan and gluten-free desserts and they are pretty yummy though a bit dry. Coffee drinks are good with a coffee shop steep price. I’m pretty bummed that they close so early especially on Fridays and weekends. I wish they could have a later service for early evening since Rahway lacks modern well designed places to hang out.
Great coffee shop with fantastic ownership. They have great roasts, eats, and organize fun events to showcase local musicians. Definitely adds a lot of value to Rahway. Highly recommended!
Charming coffee shop in downtown Rahway with great vegan options and amazing service. Right by the train station.
DO NOT like this place !! Ordered a Nutella sandwich and pumpkin spice lattes and they were NOTHING like what we were expecting Nutella was smothered on there dripping down with 5 bananas on one slice.
I was just in for 15 min in this town, but Id definitely go back again, just for the delicious cappuccino, like in Europe, tasteful buttery croissant and a kind attentive staff.
I love the decor on this place. Customer service is great... staff is friendly and fun. However, I wouldnt think the coffee and pastries are the best though. Also the place is very clean. Parking can be a little tough esp on the weekend.Respond to owners comment: i got the blueberry muffin and it was bland and dry for a homemade daily baked pastry. And the coffee, well... I am comparing yours with a list of several other coffee shops in the area.
Staff nit friendly on approach. Ordered to sit down waited for an extended period after coffee went to ask about the great delay only to find order placed to go and was sitting behind counter. Staff need to be more attentive. Disappointed
Awesome staff. Great coffee. Nice atmosphere and outdoor seating.
Just moved to the hood and this place was recommended by my realtor and several people I met. The drip coffee is amazing - I think its Intelligentsia and has notes of chocolate and spice - its very rich! Their chocolate coffee drinks are amazing as well. And lets talk about this avo toast for a moment - it is glorious! Get salmon and/or a poached egg on it, so worth it! They dont skimp on anything. The baked goods are wonderful. They have zucchini bread and its vegan. I recommended the salted chocolate chip cookie. Best coffee house in the area!
This place has a really cozy atmosphere inside as well as some outdoor seating. A very pleasant place with vegan & gluten free options, as well as delicious drinks and wonderful service. I always have an enjoyable experience when I come to The Coffee Box! They also used to have live music outside in the warmer months, not sure if they do it still- regardless, I definitely recommend this coffee shop.
Had to wait bit long on my order but overall Im happy with this place. You can feel that friendly atmosphere between owner and coworkers and their regulars. Nice menu, will be back.
Coffee box is a great neighborhood gem that creates a lovely atmosphere in a warm yet modern setting. You can get vegan, gluten-free, and omnivore treats of all kinds which is a great option for those who need food accessibility. The Chai donut and brownie both gluten free are tasty. The iced Chai latte is a little too sweet and milky but the iced coffee is nice on a hot summer afternoon. The coffee is good and espresso is just as good But I wouldn’t say that the caffeinated drinks are top-tier outstanding. The customer service here is what stands out as staff are kind, efficient and very generous to customers. The space also is LGBTQ friendly and seems to have a hardworking diverse staff. I do wish the hours could be extended after 4 PM maybe even till six or 7 PM for people who get out of work and I need some snacks or beverages on the go. I like that there’s outside seating and Wi-Fi. They dont sell many options for coffee beans, chemex filters, French presses, or coffee merchandise to take home unfortunately. Overall, One of my favorite places in Rahway and I wish there were more chill quality modern contemporary options in the area like Coffee Box.
Very pleasant coffee shop - they sell food too! I got their daily drip with an Avocado, Arugula and Tomato Croissant. The sandwich was really great and pretty filling. The workers were very kind not just to me as a customer but to one another! Overall, I would totally recommend if you are in the area.
Really good service and friendly staff with amazing food
The staff is very friendly. The first time I was there I had green tea and apple cider cinnamon donut. My second time there I had coffee with nice slice of banana bread it was delicious. My third time there I had a waffle with coffee and real maple syrup again it was delicious.
Latte was good but thankfully I asked for an additional shot or else it would not have been nearly strong enough. Even though Ive read that they were going to have a decent amount of vegan offerings, they only had the typical avocado toast, banana bread and random cookie available. They are also pretty expensive: my avocado toast and latte came to almost $16. They also offer a small serving of overnight oats for $5.50. I was disappointed and plan to wait a while to try again.
Rahway needs more places like this. The atmosphere is very nice, the breakfast sandwiches are tasty, and most importantly the service was top of the line. Will be coming back
We come everyday for coffee and scones. Its our fav coffee spot easily. Were moving in a few weeks to scotch plains and literally checked the distance to the Plainfield location! Haha (5 minute drive, whew!).
Friendly service. Nice selection of coffee and tea beverages. So much nicer than your typical $tarbucks! Very clean. I didnt order food on my visit, but I did check out the limited menu. It looked like some nice choices. While I waited for my capaccino to be crafted, I waited outside. There was lots of great outdoor seating area, some of it was even covered. The salads and sandwiches that I saw other patrons enjoying looked very fresh and inviting. Ill be returning with a friend for breakfast tomorrow. My capaccino was served exactly as I ordered it, and tasted great! The Coffee Box is a welcome addition to Rahways downtown.
Too expensive for my budget!$9 for 1 toast with hazelnut spread & a few slices of banana is too rich for a family of 4.Now, the ambiance is very cool!
I visited the shop twice, just to give them another chance & It’s unfortunate to write this review, but after all the hype and 4-5 stars it has..it wasn’t worth it.The location itself, is in a corner and the interior decor, is modern. Shop is SUPER clean! They also have some tables just in case you want to eat outside. It’s definitely pricey, so it’s not your typical coffee shop. Some of the menu items doesn’t have the price referenced either which is bothersome.Service- horrible, it took 27 mins to get my food and 15 mins to get my coffee. They had enough staff but it seems like they don’t know what they’re doing in the kitchen. A group of 6 people came in after me and got served first, not sure why but they did. Then i asked the cashier when I would be getting my coffee and she said she was working on it now. I told her I was going to sit outside, and just gave a scared look. I asked her what would make her life easier, should I stay? Or should I sit down and have her run the food when it’s done. She said if I could wait in the restaurant it would be best. I told her no problem. So I waited. The entire staff looked miserable and overwhelmed, granted it was at 10am so maybe it’s there peak time. The second time I went, which was today, an elderly man arrived shortly after and asked for a coffee.. and literally what seemed to be 30mins in passing the older gentleman was still not served. He then approached one of the servers following up on his coffee. We got our lattes pretty quickly after ordering. But I was extremely concerned when the server went over my infant baby with hot coffee…. I used to serve for 10years and etiquete teaches you to go around the person and provide the food/drink. You should NEVER go over/on top of a customer. What would’ve happened if she mistakenly tripped & spilled the hot coffee over my baby? There was also another man who placed an order and 24 mins passed and the didn’t have his coffee nor food yet. The gentleman got up and said something after some wait time. He seemed pretty calm about it. One of girls came out from the kitchen and said we’re so sorry it looks like your order was cleared and never prepared, we’re going to refund you. Then the same server comes to me and says we’re sorry we forgot about your order, it’s coming now. Like seriously? Like okay maybe if it happens once a day it’s normal.. but three times within the hour? Somethings wrong.Coffee- excellent, both times I visited it wasn’t burnt and it wasn’t left over coffee in a heated pot. It was FRESH.Food- disappointing… the ham, egg and cheese was made in a microwave(I physically saw them do it)…… the croissant was tiny, wasn’t worth the $$$ I paid for it. If you’re going to have expensive food, I would except to at least have the food made in counter too oven … not microwaved to melt the cheese. The turkey panini was good, it was the sourdough bread what made it taste best.I believe the servers and kitchen staff should be re-trained and practice to smile more and be more welcoming. There’s a blind spot in the corner so I’m not sure if they have an oven there.. but if not maybe it would be a good idea to get a small conventional oven.. this way they don’t have to microwave food when preparing it for customers. Before I close this out, I must say there was a gentleman, who seemed to be from Asian decent who was ..omg the most pleasant and welcoming soul I have ever encountered !
Always a pleasure to have any drinks in here...Great bake goodies and just overall good vibes....
Come here for the coffee, they’re some of the best kn the region if you’re looking for a lighter and more tasty coffee experience.
Very cute nice spot to chill and have a cup of coffee. Service is very nice and food is good!
Delicious coffee done right, cute seating area outside, friendly staff/owner.
Extremely friendly and polite. There is happy dedication to service. The food was very delicious and reasonably priced.
Great coffee shop, prices are a bit high. Their bakery items are so good and always changing. Such a cute shop too!
This place is a Rahway staple. The staffs super friendly, people are always working, chilling, and studying. Its got a classic cafe vibe to it, theres often live music and their food is thoughtfully made.
Coffe disappointed no sugar addedIn Instagram pics coffe looks great but on the local regular paper shame
The Coffee Box is one of Rahways, not so secret, secrets! This is a beautiful coffee shop with genuinely great tasting coffees and homemade pastries. Their coffee is ethically sourced and comes from small family farms around the world. If the Coffee Box isnt your first and last stop of the day, your missing out on a real gem!
Best coffee, and great food
Great experience, clean beautiful cozy Coffee shop
Great staff, and there sea salt chocolate chip cookies are AMAZINGG
They are one of two nice coffee places in Rahway. They, like Mealo, have an excellent mocha. Makes it easy to support local coffee businesses!
Love the caramel latte. They were very accommodating when it came to my order. The best part is their gluten free options.
Really cool spot with good coffee n breakfast menu.
Food was great and servers were very polite
Excellent service, just wondered around and found this awesome place.Owner very friendly and knowledgeable, this is a must.
First time trying smoked salmon toast. I’m so glad I tried it here. It was delicious! Great coffee as well. But I am really in love with the flavor of the smoked salmon toast. Yummy! The apple cinnamon scones are DELICIOUS!
Very good place, nice people!
The coffee and baked goods were surprisingly pretty good, despite being a bit pricier than what Im used to. The staff were very kind and helpful, Blaze(I believe his name was) was knowledgeable enough to suggest different items on the menu, and made my date with my wife quite memorable. I would definitely make the trip to come here in the future.Edit: posted review under the wrong location.
The black drip coffee was terrible, it was like strong tea, or brewed cardboard. The breakfast selection is interesting.
Second location just as nice as the first, only bigger. Jeff and his team make the best espresso drinks in the area and the food selection is always high quality. Excellent!
Love this place. I’ve moved out of the town but still so glad to see Rahway add a local coffee shop. I go out of my way to stop by when I’m visiting my parents. Espresso drinks and iced coffee are both good. Best so far was the iced latte with oat milk. Staff is friendly too. Hope this place sticks around!
My coffee was excellent, the atmosphere was cozy, the chairs are terrible if youre going to be there awhile. I was at there to study. After an hr, my back and my bum said go home. Now, if you dont want people camped out for hours taking up valuable real estate, then its fine. This spot will do great, like I said my coffee was excellent.
Excellent coffee and food. Love chatting with the staff and owner. All are super friendly and neighborhood oriented.
Great place with awesome atmosphere. The entire staff is super nice as well. Nice place to just kick back and study or read a book.
Great Light roast and pastries
Just a wow factor, the Salmon Panini on Sourdough bread is out of this world! It is hands down my favorite dish to date, it is impossible for me to be in Rahway and not have one. There coffee is always perfect, I love how the keep the measuring precise, guaranteeing a great cup every time. Keep up the good work guys!
Amazing food and service!!!
Great little shop by the train station. Received friendly service. The latte was made perfect with the right amount of foam and correct temperature. I went on a whim and was disappointed.
Great coffee and atmosphere!
Very Nice place, place. Great staff, nice atmosphere ! Good music!)
Decent pastries, good lattes, mediocre matcha.Parking was pretty easy. The shop itself is next to a one way street with some parking, and theres parking on the other roads of the intersection as well. It didnt seem too busy in that area as far as traffic goes. The interior is very modern and warm. It had an industrial aesthetic as well. It feels pretty cosy. Service was fine. They have the usual drinks youll find at a coffee shop, but they also have a big food menu. It reminded me more of a cafe based on the size of the food menu. They have a bunch of paninis, salads, soups, toasts, and breakfast sandwiches. Theres also quiche, which isnt something Id expect from a coffee shop.I had a matcha latte. It was good, but I was disappointed because literally half of it was foam. Their lattes are fine. The dine-in drinks come in mason jar mugs, which was cool. The condiment bar did not have simple syrup from what I remember, so thats a negative.I also had a blueberry muffin, which was very good. I recommend that. I dont know if theyre made in house or not, but it tasted fresh.
Really nice place inside and out. great looking pastries and of course excellent coffee. really awesome to see places like this popping up in Rahway.
Great place for coffee. Very friendly stuff. Ive been here once but the latte and chocolate croissant was perfect.
Great Coffee! Great Prices! Great Staff! Good Vibes & the avocado toast was slammin!!! Thank you!
Great coffee! Just wished they had a better food selection for kids
This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. The pastry is made on promises and very moist. Try the almond croissant
Very nice and clean. Coffee, treat and service great! Good place to meet up with a friend.
Caffe latte is perfect.**updated** The morning service should be much quicker. It normally takes only 2-3 minutes to get the coffee in the afternoon but it took 5-10 minutes to get the coffee in the morning. People (including myself) rush to grab the coffee to catch the train. Last time I did order my latte but I could not take it since my train came. In the following day, we (with my wife) almost missed the train too although we tried to come earlier (lesson learnt from 1st day).PS: Its not very crowded in the morning (around 8:54 am).
Always on point! Dont know just ask...staff is very knowledgeable. A True Coffee Haven!
Great hibiscus tea... friendly staff. A nice break from the train station...
Love this spot, excellent coffee & delicious baked goods. Perfect atmosphere & very friendly staff.
Great coffee and food in a beautiful atmosphere. Will definitely be back again!
Great coffee. Comfortable and welcoming staff.
Drip coffee was nice and strong. 4 stars only because of the cup. For some reason it kept spilling on the side while it was a little full.
Great corner coffee shop with an upscale vibe, good pastries, great service, free wifi, and a nice cafe feel.
Had their house coffee and vegan chocolate mousse - Excellent
Decent coffee, beautifully decorated, polite service- unfortunately extremely cold if you are sitting at tables by the window.
Great place, awesome coffee, everyone is really friendly and youll feel relax when you walk in.
Good food but a little pricey.
Great coffee, good service, decorated sandwiche- unfortunately the sandwich doesn’t worth paying and the coffe, it’s better to get in a to go cup because the fancy cup is very small if you you want to have a proper cappuccino.
Good coffee but their pastries are the best in town and friendly staff too.
Good place to have coffee brake...
Good coffee! So happy to have a wonderful cafe in Rahway downtown.
Pretty good coffee with some good vegan baked goods
Best beet hummus ever! A+
Best coffee ☕️ in town .Beautiful place, great service.
Great beverages, amaaaazing salmon toast, delicious pastries!
A perfect place for good coffe.
Im not a coffee drinker - I stick to Chai Lattes, so consider that with my review. This new place, just down the street from me enticed me with their inviting look and the promise of a great cup of tea. I ordered a small chai latte and a banana bread. Super excited that the banana bread has no nuts in it! Im not allergic I just dont think theres any place in a baked good for a hard nugget. The banana bread is delicious - Im savoring it right now. It was priced at about $3.50 (I didnt get my receipt, so am doing some math in my head, which is rarely a good idea) and Im all good with that for as yummy as it is. So, if Im super excited, why only three stars? Well, the chai is a mix, which is fine, very few places actually brew and sweeten the chai. The mix they have doesnt have the best flavor to me, but its all right. It is $4.50, which, fine, Im happy to support a small business and pay $.60 more for a cup than at a large mega-chain. They steam the syrup in with the milk, which definitely changes the flavor and isnt my preference. It makes the chai taste almost burnt, which I realize is probably in my head. All of these things I can handle, and would deserve and its decent and Id go again four stars from me, especially considering the banana bread amazing-ness. Its only an 8 ounce cup, though. My own fault, I didnt scope the cup size before ordering. I wasnt expecting a $4.50 (plus tax and tip) cup that is smaller than my hand. I just cant bring myself to spend artisan prices for a tiny and just okay cup of chai syrup. Overall the tea and bread cost me about $9.50, including tax and tip. Maybe Im just too cheap.Seriously, that bread though...
Love the vegan (Doh!)nuts!
Excellent food. Helpful staff, especially Robert.
