Before Midas took over, Brian owned this shop and was great. When he sold to Midas, I was skeptical because of the big brand name shop coming in. But it turns out that all Midas shops are locally owned and independent franchises. Kyle (the owner of this shop) is a great guy and is very honest with you about the repairs. I’ve only used him a few times since they opened, but Kyle and his crew have already earned my full trust.

Amazing customer service. They ordered necessary parts before I brought my car in, and were able to complete servicing by the next day on very short notice. Topped up my washer fluid, too. Clean lobby and easy overnight/early bird key drop. Also, the tech really took diagnosing my vehicle seriously, which was greatly appreciated and very helpful. Definitely will be back!

Overall service was great!I made an appointment online but make sure to call and pay for the tires in advance so they can let you know when they have arrived and you can schedule a time to take your car in. My payment was split into 2. I paid for tires up front, and then paid for the service of them being replaced.Service was very quick, only about 2 hours Max. I dropped the car off so I wasn’t waiting and it was done earlier than expected. No problems so far!

Recently changed mechanics - loved previous mechanic but decided to try Midas since it was so close by. Its great to have a mechanic downtown Raleigh where I can drop off my car and walk home (or they will get Uber for you!). Kyle has been great to work with - very thorough in communication and work and also very transparent which I appreciate. My dog Maverick loves it too because he can come along for the ride and gets a treat in the office.

We are so pleased with our recent experience at Midas on Boylan. Kyle and his crew just repaired/replaced an axle and did a major tune up on our Subaru Outback. We were having several problems with the car so I stopped by to make an appointment. Kyle listened and took thorough notes. His crew diagnosedand repaired quickly. It’s driving like new again! They have good communication skills and fair prices. They’ve also repaired an issue with our sunroof. We’re happy to have a great car repair group in the neighborhood!

This is only our second time, but the first experience made it is easy to come back and after this trip, we may never go anywhere else. They do quality work in quick time but their service behind the counter really tops it off. It can be hard to find a reliable car shop but you walk in at Midas and you feel like a regular. The crew takes care of you providing honest and high-quality work. If you want to save time, receive reliable service, and get your car in great shape, you “midas” (might as) well go to Midas! Everyone at this location was very nice, however the mechanic I had working on my car must not have known what they were doing that day. They told me I needed to replace my valve gasket cover and then completely installed it wrong which caused an oil leak that snowballed into a few more problems only a few weeks later. For the amount of money and time I spent at this location I wouldve expected them to actually fix my car correctly. It has been extremely inconvenient and time consuming process that would have never happened if it just got fixed right the first time. Would not recommend bringing your car here if you actually want a thorough job done.

Charged me $130 for requested Uber inspection, only tried them out because uber recommended through the app. The inspection still isnt accepted. They even said I didnt ask for a state inspection, I dont even see what that had to do with it so I think its workers not taking the job seriously for personal reasons.

Lost our long time mechanic and needed a new one. Convenient to the house so I figured Id try them out. So far so good. Friendly and good turn around time. Will be returning.

Kyle was awesome! They have an excellent work culture there and really try to help you out and save money for you as best they can. Brought my 06 Silverado in and it needed a ton of work. The truck drives like new now and they were able to get it back to me in just one day. Will only bring my vehicles here from now on.

Kyle and his team were outstanding. I had a flat tire and they were able to look at the tire, order two new tires and install them very quickly. He even sent a picture of the tire and nail without asking, which I appreciated. Kyle was very honest with pricing and communicated very well throughout the entire process. I got fed up with taking my car to the dealership and started using this location a year or so ago when it was still Village Motor Works. It was great then and it is great now. Its now a Midas location and under new ownership and the transition has been seamless and Matt and Kyle have been great to work with. This location is especially convenient if you live downtown and/or in the Boylan Heights area. They do good work and are priced fairly, highly recommend.

This has been my first real interaction with a mechanic’s shop, and I have to say Kyle and his team are fantastic. They communicated fully with me, kept me updated, and made me feel that my car was in good hands. They were fully honest with me about what was wrong and what needed to be done and didn’t do any work without my consent and understanding. Their tech Matt texted me a few days after having my car back and made sure I was satisfied which was a good touch. In fact, I ended up asking him to do a little extra work based on a few conversations we had about my front wheel bearings.He was also extremely communicative on why my car needed new wheel bearings, how they worked, what would happen if we didnt replace them.Would highly recommend. Initially, disappointed with a $46 diagnostic fee. I appreciate the response from owner/management.My recommendation would be to charge the diagnostic fee; however, if the customer returns to have work performed, the diagnostic fee is credited back. This would sit better with the customer and encourage them to come back.Thank you for your response and your contribution to the community.

Ridiculously courteous and honest on top of excellent quality of work. Literally the only mechanic I’ve ever gone to where the price paid at the end was LESS than what was originally quoted. I always figured there was some statute in the Geneva Conventions which prohibited this from ever happening, but these guys proved that wrong.

I brought my Corolla here after hearing a leak in the vacuum lines that we couldnt find. I was a little hesitant trying out a new shop since I had a few recent bad experiences, but Kyle and his team have my trust! They found and fixed the issue very quickly and they really do stand behind their work. They told me if the same issue came up in the next month theyd repair again free of charge. My car has been running great since they fixed it ~1week ago and they even checked in by text to make sure all was good. Very qualified & professional team!

Kyle was extremely nice and informative from the get go. I went in for an annual inspection but admittedly had put off some work that was needing to be done. Kyle and his team did the inspection and then checked the rest of my vehicle for any maintenance issues. I figured it was almost time for a brake change but he explained everything in full detail and fixed a few other small items free of charge. Unable to accept an oil change coupon due to a misprint, but great service for that & another issue I was having with a headlight. Matt was clear & helpful with his service-writing, and followed up with a solution that was completed same-day.

I stopped in on whim to see if they had my last work estimate from the previous owner. They reviewed it and did their own diagnostics. A list of items I needed to have done was nocked out in less than a day. Control arm, knock sensor, cv shaft, tire rotation and oil change. I was also excited that they were able to perform a front end alignment. One stop service. Kyle was great to work with. So nice to have a local auto service in the neighborhood.

In the past, Ive encountered repair shops that will tell you that your car requires all kinds of work, but this shop has gained my trust by talking through problems with me and identifying underlying issues, even if it means not getting expensive work done at the moment. This, along with their quality service, has built my appreciation. Village Motor Works always does a good job.

This is by far the best place Ive taken my car to for repairs. Bryan is so friendly and helpful, and has a good memory when it comes to his customers. The shop is clean and has a down home feel. My first experience with Village Auto Works came when my Ford Focus broke down. I had the car towed to Bryans shop, and he stayed late that night to diagnose the issue. It was a transmission problem that could only be fixed at the Ford dealer shop. He didnt charge me at all, even though he spent a good deal of time checking over my car. I have since traded the car for a Subaru Forester, which Ive taken to Bryan for an oil change. He remembered me instantly, was friendly, and had my oil changed and my car ready to go in less than an hour. Better still, he didnt try to quote me for a bunch of unnecessary repairs like my previous mechanic always did! Just checked over the car, tested the tire pressure, topped off my washer fluid, and changed the oil and filter. This seems like a shop that operates very honestly. Such a hard thing to find! I highly recommend Bryan and his auto services.

Village motor works is great! Great enough that I selfishly dont want too many people to know. They are honest about the work that needs to be done, and their prices are extremely competitive in my opinion.

After he left to start his own shop I called him to ask if he could take more business since I needed a repair and he was willing to see me as soon as I could drop off my car.Brian communicated really well and is someone you can certainly trust not only with the maintenance and repair of your car (I take my 2008 Volvo S40 to him) but you can also trust him to give you a fair and honest estimate.Brian found the issue with my car within a few hours of having my car when another auto repair shop (P & A Smith) had my car for two days and charged me $500+ and still didnt fix the problem. Brian not only repaired the issue but also only charged me for a half hour of labor. Only reason I brought my car the first time to the other mechanic is because it was close to my house but that turned out to be a costly mistake (it so happens his new shop is right next to my work but I didnt know that at the time).While I was there, I made sure to get quotes for other services and he gave me the fairest prices Ive found and I know that he will give the quality work that you need from a trustworthy mechanic.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I expect to be a life long customer.

I couldnt ask for a more honest or hard-working mechanic. Bryan has always explained any issues that have come up with my car and can be trusted to recommend local tire and body shops, etc. He always considers what needs to be done to keep the vehicle safe and doesnt recommend work unless its needed.I feel like Im going to visit a family member when I take my car to VMW, because Bryan so diligently takes care of the problems and often finds affordable solutions when needed. I also never feel talked down to as someone who isnt particularly knowledgeable about vehicle maintenance.

I had an alignment done and two broken lug studs replaced. Village Motor Works was very professional and communicative during the whole process, and did the job right (lubricated the lug studs and used a torque wrench instead of an impact wrench). The shop itself is also conveniently located and very nice, with a keurig machine and bottled water in the waiting room.

These guys dont give up until its fixed, used to be in Cameron Village, now on Boylan Bridge. Lisa Smith swore by these guys. If you knew Lisa you know theyre good.

Fantastic service. Got me a fuel pump for cheaper than I would have paid at a dealership and only charged me half an hours worth of labor. Greg even offered to pick me up from campus after the repair. Highly recommend.

Yesterday I took my car in because it had been parked for a few months this winter and it needed at the very least a few touch ups like air on the tires, resetting the computer, etc. I took it in for an overall check up and tune up. I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up mid afternoon. When I went to get my money out to pay, here is what I was told: “you don’t owe us anything! You are our costumer and we were happy to check up on your car; everything looks ok and even the oil color is fine, we reset the computer and put air in the tires. Perhaps this summer you’ll need an oil change.” It was moving to find honesty and consideration beyond the norm. This was the type of interaction that makes me hold on to the hope that humanity will make it and that the world is worth saving! Yes! all that from taking my car in for a check up. I brought my 1977 Mercedes 240D here just to get it checked out for potential issues because it was a relatively new purchase. I mentioned that I thought the transmission felt a little sluggish, which was a big mistake. When I got the bill, I had been charged for two transmission fluid changes, and when I got the car back it wouldnt go at all. Greg told me that flushing the system stripped the friction plates and that Id need new ones, but that he had a friend who could do it for about $1500. Fortunately, I decided to take it somewhere else and found that there simply wasnt any transmission fluid in the system. I will never take my car back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. Im sure Im not the only person who Village Motor Werks has tried to gyp.

So when I returned in July 17, I was surprised to find the place had changed hands and undergone one heck of a facelift.Since July Ive had the pleasure of dealing with Bryan and Elizabeth several times because Ive recently purchased two new-to-me vehicles that have needed some work.Bryan is the best kind of mechanic. He not only knows his stuff, hell show you whats wrong, and explains how he plans to fix the problem before diving in. Ive received nothing but exceptional customer service from him and Elizabeth each and every time Ive passed through their door.Its always nice to find a great mechanic, and if youre looking for someone who exemplifies honesty while offering great service for a reasonable cost, youve found your shop.I wont be taking my vehicles anywhere else so long as theyre in business.

These folks gave me advice over the phone - before I was ever their customer! When I did take my car in they advised me not to waste my money on major repairs based on make/model and life expectancy - so honest and KIND!!! They said they just replaced my brake pads, but evidently they have corrected a strange braking hiccup the car has had ever since I got it - 10 years and 3 other mechanics could not identify a problem so I assumed it was just a VW thing.I wish Id met them sooner and I wish they were a lot younger because I might have to stop driving when they retire!
