I absolutely love this deli. Its very authentic like ones up north. The bacon in the Notorious BLT is flavorful and its my go to lunch order from them........however as you can see in the photos, it depends on whos making your order. Im not sure which is order is supposed to be their standard but I believe its somewhere in between the 2 pictures. The one with the lesser amount is what I received today (2/17/2020), whereas the one with the tremendous amount was received 1/31/2020.Im hesitant to recommend them now because Im not sure what amount Ill be getting. Please work on your consistency because the folks at work are always looking for a great place to get lunch.
UPDATE: THEY ARE CLOSED :(There are things in life you dont forget, and The Joey Reuben served at Reubens is one of those things.Unfortunately their physical location is no more... they were pretty much forced to close their doors indefinitely because of the laws put in place by Roy Cooper due to COVID-19.They do however have a food truck, so do a quick online search and track down this sandwich - you wont regret it.
Nice staff in a cozy setting reminiscing a New York deli. Had the classical Reuben sandwich..... better than the Katzs Deli in NYC. (You can read my review for Katzs Deli)The Reuben here, the meat was tender and properly season. Moist and flavorful. The sandwich was a generous portion of corned beef, sauerkraut and dressing. I chose the french fries (hot, crunchy, properly executed) I recommend this place for the Reuben.
We got take out 3 reubens, and corned beef sandwiches! Wow! Best corned beef in this area. Comparable in taste quality to what Ive had from Slymans in Cleveland OH or Katzs in NYC. Were hooked! 3 sandwiches fed 5 people and we have 1/2 sandwich left (which is hidden for lunch tomorrow.)Looking forward to going again, for a NY bagel breakfast.
I lived downtown for a while, love the food here very much. The cold sandwiches are always refreshing, the warm ones are super good. They are creative and delicious. Larrys coffee is good, and their sweet tea taste good too. They are always kind when I go in there, and the food comes out relatively fast. They do get busy, but 5 stars!
This place is fantastic!!! We had to choose between this and Jasons Deli in Cary (same distance for us). We chose Reubens NewYork Deli. Was NOT disappointed one bit. I got the Jonny. Great flavor and the meat wasnt all cheap and fatty like some places. My wife got the DD and the flavor of corned beef, pastrami and turkey is great. Again, not cheap cuts of meat like other places. We also got the chicken noodle soup and the matzo ball soup great as well!! Highly recommend this place for a great Deli sandwich!!!!Cant wait to come back!!!! Maybe do a work team lunch as well. Hmmmmm
I was excited to try this place claiming to be a NY style deli. I am from Los Angeles and dearly miss a solid deli sandwich. I was planning on getting freshly sliced turkey, a staple at a true deli, but arrived to only find oven roasted smoked turkey (strike 1). So, I switched gears to order tuna on sourdough with a side of broccoli cheese soup. Two big problems here: my tuna arrived on bread that was white bread wanting to be sourdough (a NY deli would only carry REAL sourdough), and my soup was not broccoli cheese. After flagging a staff member I was informed that they ran out and substituted a veggie sweet potato soup. While it was tasty, it was a substitution I didn’t approve (which could be dicey if serving someone with food allergies). I asked to try the matzo ball soup, which was underwhelming and disappointing. If you intend to label your restaurant as a true NY deli, you can’t miss basics like this. I still hope for a true deli to arrive in the Triangle.Note: I gave this 3 stars because my boyfriend ordered pastrami that was quite good. I noticed many people had ordered this, maybe they knew something we didn’t. Otherwise I would rate this place as a 2.5.
My husband and I LOVE this place. They have a lot of vegetarian options for me and are very accommodating to their customers. We couldn’t recommend it more. Thank you for making delicious food!
The place was empty when I showed up only one other patron on a busy day at lunch time. I order a sandwich and the matzo ball soup. It was fine. The saving Grace was the guy behind the counter who was very friendly, we had a great conversation and he seemed passionate about the place and what they were doing (maybe the owner?). If you love a good New York Deli you should definitely check this place out... It just wasnt for me.
I really love Reubens for breakfast or lunch. I work close by and its quick and easy to dine in or grab and go. The value and quality of food and service are top for downtown. I really recommend them.
Awesome food, when our crew worked in our downtown facility we always bought food from them. Burgers to coffee everything I ever ordered from there was very tasty.
Great food! I picked up a to go order of matzo ball soup and a classic reuben. Everything was great! The staff was friendly and efficient. Cant wait to try other things on their menu!
Can’t wait to go back! Today I tried the hot gobbler. Turkey and cheddar on sourdough with the homemade chips. The sandwich was piled high with roasted turkey, I struggled to eat half. My hubby had a Reuben, with the best corned beef. He also struggled to eat half of his sandwich. I’m ready to head back and try one of their four soups and another one of their specialty sandwiches. Worth the trip!
Lox bagel.. oh yes. So delicious.Pastrami Reuben w/ side of soup, chips, and a pickle for $13? So awesome. Huge sandwich.
Had the rock-away rueben brunch sandwich. Was very good! Felt a little pricey to get only a bagel-sized sandwich and no side for $12. The sandwich was unique and would recommend, just wish I got more for what I spent.
I have a dear friend who wanted matzo ball soup. I was so pleased that I could find a fresh option here. They also serve the very same black and white cookies that you can find in Grand Central station in New York. And the potato latkes with sour cream are so yummy!
Its been a full month since I visited here and I still cant stop thinking about the sandwich. If I didnt live over an hour away, I would take my lunch break here every day! Staff was super nice and helpful and everything was clean, including the bathrooms. Can you bring a sandwich to me in Greensboro, please?
First off, no one acknowledges you as you enter, all of the employees will avoid you if they can.Secondly I was the only person in the restaurant and it took 20 minutes for a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. Its not like the had to cook fresh bacon, because it was already cooked prior. .Lastly, it wasnt that great. What a waste of time and money.
My husband had the BLT for lunch (and loved it) and wanted to bring food home for dinner! I was pleasantly surprised as to how it traveled. The bottom bread was a little soggy, but the flavors were great! I got the Joey and it was delicious! One of the best reubens Ive had! My husband had the turkey sandwich and thought the meat was a tad dry. He wishes there was a bit more mayo on it. We also got a Non Govt Cheese for our toddler. He didnt eat it, but hubby and I split it and man, let me tell you, that is a crazy good sandwich. The best of the ones we tried! The chips are thick cut and crunchy! They reheated well in the oven the next day. Well definitely be back!
No long line. They were quick and friendly. That sandwich was so good.
This shop occupies an important piece of the downtown scene: the deli shop. The meats are well spiced and full with lots classical sandwiches and a few of their own specials. Highly recommend for that tall NY sandwich cravings!
Seriously the best deli food I have ever had! I am here almost every day since they opened!!! Exceptional service, delicious food and a really great place to sit down and eat! Please try a sandwich here!
Service was friendly and quick. The sandwich was thick and came with thick cut chips. I will definitely be back for another big sandwich.
Fantastic new deli spot! More expensive than the average sandwich but these sandwiches are literally overflowing with meat. It reminds me of what Mitch Hedberg said about NY delis putting so much meat on their sandwiches. He walks into a deli and orders a Reuben. The cashier asks if hed like anything else with his sandwich. Mitch says, Yeah. A loaf of bread and a group of friends to share this with. We miss you Mitch
This is a taste of home.Thank You Reubens NY Deli.RIP Pastrami king. 😏And those chips. Thank you, Absolutely fantastic.
Better then any NYC deli that I have been too. That’s all you need to know.Review update: I feel like service / quality has gone downhill a bit at this place. Ordered tuna, got chicken salad; ordered pickles, got no pickles; ordered cheese, got no cheese. Disappointing....dropping to 3 stars until further notice.
First time trying them today. Ordered their Breakfast Sandwich on Everything Bagel.....so good!!!
Joey pastrami Sandwich was delicious and huge!! Takeout materials used were all biodegradable. No plastic pollution. I have a studio in ArtSpace and this will be my first choice for lunch
The Reuben was amazing reminded me of Carnegie deli, the corned beef was absolutely amazing and piled high. By far the BEST Reuben Ive had since I left NY . The matzo ball soup was delicious and authentic as well.
It’s like an explosion in your mouth! So much flavor and such a neat family feel deli. Get the D.D. Sandwich and matzo ball soup. Omg!! 🧡💪
On short notice (3 days) we placed a catering order through Glyn. We ordered 12 sandwiches, sides, and bagels for the kids. Because this order was for a funeral party, we did not know the exact time we would be able to pickup the order, so we guestimated. Everything was prepared fresh and even last minute changes to our order were accomodated. Above all, food was delicious and a hit with all guests!
Wonderdul food. Great and fast service. Notorious BLT is amazing!
Literally my favorite place right now! Got 1lb of roast beef and turkey, 2 cheeses and loaf of bread! Otherwise I would order everyday!!!!!
Tremendous! Authentic, freshly made food coma sammiches and so much more! Bring your friends! No one will go hungry and all will leave happy!
Excellent food, Friendly Staff, great atmosphere. Makes me feel like Im in NY having lunch.
After seeing a recent story about this new restaurant on ABC, we stopped at Reubens today on our way home from the beach. Amazing sandwiches - WOW! I had a deli sandwich called the Paul Revere with roast turkey on sourdough. My wife had the Venkman (pastrami and swiss cheese). Both of us thought the meats were the tastiest weve had in a long time...and these are big sandwiches. We hit the tail end of a mass rush caused by the bluegrass festival being in town this weekend, plus I think the news story made it even busier - a perfect storm probably took the new owners by surprise. We had to wait longer than one normally should, but the sandwiches were worth it and Im looking forward to giving it another try soon.
Wish I could have reviewed this place. Unfortunately it is permanently closed according to a sign on the door.
My sandwich was amazing! This is a great and welcome addition to the lunch options downtown.
Excellent Reuben. Others in the party enjoyed their food as well
Very good NY style deli.
Great food, fast and friendly service. What more can you ask for....
Portion size is great, the lunch 50/50 special is excellent!
Staff is professional and friendly and the food is ALWAYS so good!!👍👍
Went to deli today from north raleigh. Only to be told at 2 p.m. we are out of pastrami and corn beef. A place called Ruebens and no meat to make a Rueben. This is like a pizza place with no pizza. I would assume poor management
Great food manger was nice all workers great
Great place to get a good sandwich New York style and a soup or salad
One of the worst reubens Ive had ... potato salad was pretty good. Probably wouldnt return.
Great NY deli in downtown Raleigh, go check them out!
By far the best sandwich in Raleigh hands down
Amazing sandwiches. Worth a visit!
Absolutely awesome HUGE sandwiches...totally worth it
