I admit that I was skeptical when my wife wanted me to go to a tailor shop to look for a new set of pants. I have a bad habit of buying clothes on sale, discounted, and have often compromised fit for price. Well, I have to say that I am very glad to have put my fashion fate into Brian’s hands. He knows what he is doing, and fit me for the best pair of pants I’ve ever owned. I mean, dang, they look good! And I don’t know how, but they feel awesome, and just different (better) than anything I’ve ever bought myself. This was the first bespoke pair of pants I’ve ever bought, but it won’t be my last. I’ve been going to Brian for a while for simple alterations but this was my first foray into having bespoke clothing made. I wanted to have an outfit made for a wedding rehearsal dinner and told Brian that I wanted to be the best dressed person at the event. I got that and so much more. Working with Brian to construct the outfit wasn’t just placing an order, it was an experience. Brian was deeply interested in making a jacket that fit my personality and would be a staple of my future wardrobe. He went over the top to make sure that it was all made on a very short turnaround and even surprised me with some very nice personal touches that referenced our conversation about our shared passion for timepieces. I had just purchased a personal grail watch, a Rolex Explorer, and told Brian about how much the history behind the watch connected with me, and Brian had the name of the watch, Explorer, embroidered under the back collar of the jacket in my favorite color orange. That blew me away that he remembered all the small things. It shows how much effort he puts into the work he does and into the relationships he makes with his clients. Brain and his team went above and beyond for me! I came in for a Bespoke tuxedo for my wedding and during the initial meeting, Brian assisted me in selecting everything... from the material, buttons and cut to make this tux happen. I gave him full permission to design the tux and he nailed the final outcome. After a couple fittings, everything came out perfect for the big day. He also assisted in shoe selection to help complete the attire. Additionally, he went out of his way and drove an hour and half to personally deliver the cufflinks and braces. Growing up, my grandfather was a tailor. He was featured in GQ magazine in the 80’s. He tailored suits off of 32nd street in NY. I would give these guys 6 stars if google allowed it.I had a tux-by-mail service send me the wrong sizes MULTIPLE times! I had a suit with two different length pant legs and a jacket with sleeves near my elbows. I only had a few days left until my event, so I gave Glenwood South Tailors a shot.Not only was Brian and team able to figure out where the service went wrong, but they were able to correct the mistakes. The process was managed well--Brian met with my wife and me to understand what I was looking for, take measurements and select the fabric--and we are both very happy with the final product. I am a muscular person and buying a comfortable elegant suit that fits me and doesnt look boxy is a huge challenge, which is why I decided to seek out a bespoke suit. To that end, my wife and I met with Brian (the owner) to discuss my suit requirements and preferences, we were promised flexible tailoring in terms of size and excellent, top-notch customer service. Their service starting out great which is why we decided to purchase a three-piece suit that costs $2000+. We started with a couple of iterations for size measurements, all looked good in the shop but when I actually wore the suit, the pants werent as comfortable or accommodating as desired.I reach out to Brian to tell him about the suit and along with other issues that came up with other purchases from their business. It has been more than two weeks now, and all I got was a reply from his assistant saying hell contact me back and never got back to me.Their service is unacceptable and not professional given the high-premium prices that they charge. My $2000+ bespoke suit is unwearable because I cant comfortably fit in it.This edit is in response to the owners comment:Brian,I reached out on Instagram before writing this review. I have been ignored for more than two weeks and that is not how clients should be treated.I am not trying to damage your business I am simply laying out what transpired.We have been very patient. I wanted a shirt for my wedding that I was guaranteed that I would get before my wedding day but ended up not having. You offered a complimentary shirt as an apology which I accepted in good faith but it seems that the pattern of not addressing my needs is repeating.I told you that I was not comfortable with my suit after I got to actually try it out outside of your shop (which I did convey in the review). I told you I do not have any mobility where I brought up the discomfort I experience putting on my socks and tying my shoes, sitting in the car, and getting up steps as examples of common actions performed while in a suit.I was VERY clear in our initial meeting that I wanted something comfortable that looked elegant and that I am currently less muscular due to COVID (Fall time) and that I am expecting an increase in size once everything opens back up. You responded by saying thats why you need a bespoke suit and we can make that easily happen and that all of my fits would be accommodated. Now that I want to have the adjustments done you are saying its not possible without suggesting any other options or alternatives.We have put a significant amount of money into your business and you should know by now that we do not want to damage your business during the pandemic or hurt your company since all of our alterations and purchases have taken place during the pandemic, which amounts to more than $2750. What is damaging and hurting your business is not responding to clients, making promises that cant be met, and missing deadlines.I do want to talk it out since I do not want a $2250 suit sitting in my closet unused and please address all of your correspondence to me and not my wife.If you feel that my requests and fits are beyond the capabilities of you or your shop (which, again, when we first started said could be easily accommodated), I will return the suit and ask for a full refund.Looking forward to hearing from youKameel

I’ve been here twice so far for alterations so a total of four visits, and each time has been fantastic. The owner, Brian, is so nice and helpful! He’s so welcoming and is ready to hype you up in anything you bring in. They’re efficient and well-priced. My two formal dresses were done so quickly that I was surprised to hear they were already ready! I’d 100% refer this tailor to anyone!

I just had my first tailoring experience ever and I must say it was incredible. Not only do my clothes fit like a glove (which has always been a challenge with my build) but the entire experience was filled with laughter and great conversation. Brian was engaging, asking us about our lives while he tailored my clothes like an artist working his magic on a canvas. I haven’t even seen the finished product yet, but I left with confidence and satisfaction.

I had five weeks to get a tux for wedding. I considered all options: rent, off the rack, made to measure, and bespoke. As a middle-aged man with 4 kids and many nieces and nephews, I decided to invest in owning one. I wanted fit, comfort, quality, and a reasonable price - all in a highly compressed timeline. High-end off-the-rack options like Tom Ford and Brioni cost $6K+, but fit would be an issue. I could save money with mid-tier brands like Hugo Boss and Zegna, but quality wouldn’t be as good and fit would still not be perfect. As for made to measure, there are a dizzying number of options, but 8 weeks is the minimum lead time, it’s a hard to know which are good, the fit is still standardized to a degree, and the cost is significant ($2K+ for Alton Lane, for example).After reading online reviews of Glenwood South Tailors, I decided to leave a message via the website to get bespoke pricing and turn-around time. Brian Burnett, the owner, called me that same day (a Sunday). For roughly $4,500, he said I could get a bespoke tux and shirt comparable in quality to a Brioni and delivered within my short timeline. Done.Brian fitted me the next day. He has an impeccable sense of style, so I just deferred to him on the myriad of details for a bespoke tux. From the jacket collar to the slant of the button holes, Brian selected what was appropriate for me.The suit fabric (super 130 wool) is made in Italy, but the cut and sew is done in Hong Kong by European-trained tailors. Brian’s in-house tailors do the final fit and finishing in his Raleigh studio.About a week before the wedding, Brian told me the tux had been held up at US customs in Cincinnati airport for over a week and may not arrive in time. Bummer. But, Brian drove to DC (during the recent gas crisis no less) to procure an alternate for me to wear for the wedding. Few suiting suppliers would do this.Brian fitted me for the alternate tux (a decent off the rack one) and told me I could keep it for the trouble. When I returned for the final fitting, two days before the wedding, Brian surprised me with the bespoke tux. Somehow he got it from US customs.Even without the final alternations, the tux and shirt felt incredibly comfortable, like soft pajamas. No suit I’ve ever owned felt this way. The tux also features many personal details that Brian selected based on our conversations. To name a few: my first initial embroidered on the collar, year I met my wife embroidered on the shirt cuff, Duke blue trouser buttons and button-hole lining to signify my alma mater.Brian and his team worked into the early morning hours to finish the tux. Then, Brian himself drove the tux 6 hours to the wedding venue and personally delivered it to me as my wife and I were checking into the hotel.I couldn’t be more pleased with the fit, quality, and style of the tux that Brian designed. But equally important is the level of service I experienced. It surpassed my expectations.

I reached out to Glenwood South Tailors a month ago regarding a suit that needed some alterations. Brian and his team were terrific. I received an email confirmation of my appointment and a text 24 hours before my appointment as soon as I stepped out of the dressing room, Brian and his team sharing information regarding the fit. Before leaving the shop, Bryan gave me a date that the suit would be ready, and I received a text a day two before the date. The jacket and pants fit perfectly after being altered. The customer service was top-notch. I highly recommended GST for bespoke suiting and alterations.

Ellen is AMAZING! She worked on my wedding dress. I highly recommend her! My dress fits like a glove and is so beautiful. The customer service has room for improvement, as the assistants never returned my calls, but usually the owner would return my e-mails. It is very pricey, I was told to expect around 20% of the cost of my wedding dress to be the cost of basic alterations (hemming, bustle, and get taken in). The total cost of alterations totaled 75% of the cost of my dress. The owner did attend 2/3 of my appointments to ensure I was pleased with the alterations, I appreciated that very much. It showed me that he cared about his business and clients. I would highly recommend other brides to visit Ellen for bridal alterations (as Ive already recommended someone), but I do recommend to ask about pricing at the consultation, so they dont get shocked at each appointment like I did.

I had an amazing experience with Glenwood South Tailors. I worked closely with Ellen. She was professional, kind and delicate with my dress which meant a lot to me! It was a very very detailed dress and she helped make the alterations experience so easy and relaxing. With everything going on, there was a shorter timeframe to get everything completed for our October wedding and they made it very stress-free by completing it so quickly and in just 3 total visits! Could not recommend them enough!!!

There is no other tailor shop like this in the triangle, and all of North Carolina, as far as I’m concerned. Brian and his team give you the full service. You don’t need to know a thing about style or fit - just let them do the work. I’ve had three full suits and three jackets tailored by them. This place is amazing. I had a non-traditional wedding gown that they were able to convert and make PERFECT. I had 2 other seamstresses cancel on me, so I ended up here due to a Google search and a prayer that it would work out. Being this place is upstairs in an unassuming building I was very pleasantly surprised by how great it looked inside. The staff was extremely nice and professional. I had two suits tailored and they turned out great. I plan to go back for my wedding party when it gets closer to time. I received my dress about 9 weeks before the wedding and it was huge and a whole lot of dress. After being turned down by multiple places I was referred to them! They guaranteed to have my dress the way I wanted it by the big day! Let me tell you, they did some extensive work to this dress including 11 bustles for my dress and it was absolutely beautiful! Brian is the best. I brought my bridesmaid dress there for my sister’s wedding. Not only did he do a perfect job on the tailoring, but he was personable and fun. From the minute I met him I felt that I was being taken care of and he truly cared about me and my needs. I would recommend anyone and everyone to work with Brian. I think once you do, you’ll never go anywhere else. PS- he went above and beyond and had my dress dropped off at the cleaners to be steamed bc I couldn’t get out of work!!

I just moved to Raleigh in July and needed to find a new tailor. After asking around, 2 people strongly recommended Brian. I got my custom-made bridesmaid dress altered here about 2.5 weeks before the wedding. I was super nervous about it... I was cutting it close, and it was a custom dress. But I just picked it up yesterday and it was absolutely PERFECT. Ready on time, on the day that we agreed on, and nothing needed to be fixed. Brian & the other employees working there are super friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be returning with other items to be altered!! Cannot recommend enough.

Glenwood tailors were highly recommended by a friend. I had a suit that needed tailoring took it there. I picked it up today and I was blown away on how perfect it fit. So much attention to detail. Professional staff, very personable, and absolute perfect results.

Brian and everyone else in the office is so personable! Ellen has a great eye for detail and did fantastic work on my dress (that really needed a lot!). They also utilize great communication between appointments and answered any questions that I had, even down to providing my mom with a tutorial for hooking/unhooking the bustle! I will no doubt go here for any and all tailoring needs in the future.

I am BEYOND happy with the work Glenwood South tailors has done for me. I bought my dream wedding dress in the last size available which was too small. They worked some actual magic and made it fit amazingly. Not only that, but I was trying on my dress a week before my wedding and I stupidly ripped the lace on my sleeve and they fixed it for me last minute. I brought my wedding dress here for alterations and they did a really amazing job and went above-and-beyond. Throughout the process Brian and Ellen were great at explaining what needed to be done and explaining different options (such as bustle options). Alteration appointments were enjoyable--they have a great rapport with customers.My wedding was unfortunately cancelled/posponed due to COVID. As NC entered phase 2, some last-minute elopement plans materialized. Although Glenwood South Tailors had just reopened a the Friday before my Sunday elopement, they worked extra hours and rushed some alterations so that I could wear my actual dress on the day. I knew this was a bit of a long shot, but everyone there was so accommodating and understanding for a pretty out-there request.On day-of dress looked perfect. I couldnt believe how much they worked with me to accommodate my actual wedding dress for a mostly last-minute elopement.I had a weird experience due to COVID, but I would totally recommend Glenwood South to anyone getting wedding dress alterations!

Because of Covid, our plans changed and the entire team worked incredibly hard to get us his suit two months earlier than originally planned. They checked on shipping and kept us updated on any changes made throughout the entire process. GST does not just sell you a suit and let you go. They involve you in the whole process and are just as excited to see you in your suit as you are! They pour their hearts into the fabric and it shows in all the subtle details and perfect fit. Any questions you have about suits and clothes are answered professionally and with added tips and suggestions to really bring your wardrobe to life! They worked with us to make a Pinterest board and provided recommendations for shoes and cuff links that my fiancé could pair for our wedding, a job interview, a business meeting, etc.The whole staff is supportive and encouraging and make you feel like VIP, whether you’re getting jeans hemmed or a custom suit or your dream wedding dress altered. I hired Glenwood South Tailors to make me a custom tailored tuxedo for my wedding that was last week. I live in Charlotte and it was definitely worth the trip. The customer service as well as the personalized touch on every single piece of my tuxedo was definitely the best I’ve experience in a long time. My first few visits was in Raleigh, NC to begin the process but the best thing was my final tuxedo was hand delivered directly to my house in Charlotte. The staff during the entire processs was very nice and was available to talk and answer all of my questions. They even gave me recommendations on what would mesh well with the type of tuxedo I wanted. The final product was amazing to say the least and I was extremely satisfied and everyone wanted to know where I got my tuxedo at my wedding. I would definitely hire again in the future for any custom tailoring.Best experience ever!

Not only did they do a great job with my suit and my groomsmen’s suits for my wedding but when my brother flew in from the Arctic Circle they worked with us to get his suit adjusted and ready for my big day with a rush order. Can’t say enough good things about the quality of their work, the friendliness of their staff and their professionalism. Candace gets a 10/10!! Love my wedding gown!! Ellen did an amazing job bustling the dress so it looked so elegant. She had to do about 50 pins and ties for the three under layers to make beautiful under bustles! I know she sewed all those by hand and I cannot express how appreciative I am! Natalie and Ellen both helped explain how to do the bustles as I am getting married out of town and needed a video for my mom and sister. Love love love everything about my dress and cannot wait until 7.29.17 to get married! Will post photos after the wedding!

I’ve bought custom suits/shirts many times before, but Brian takes “custom” to a whole new level. It’s like I was used to riding in a Mercedes and then I experienced a Rolls-Royce. I look, feel, and act different when I’m wearing my suit, my posture is even better! I’m genuinely happy with not only the product that I received, but the EXPERIENCE that I had along the way. Best tailor I have been to. Very chill environment and Brian was great to work with. He was very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to fit me in no problem and the measurements/fitting was really quick. The end result was great. I got two blazers altered and they fit perfect afterwards. Prices were very reasonable and well worth it given the quality of the work and experience. I will not be going anywhere else.

Ive entrusted them with about $2500 worth of garments since meeting them in July, and theyve done outstanding work. The atmosphere is fun-loving, good energy, and the people treat you like family. This is a long overdue review because Brian and his team are really just top-notch. I am 7 ft tall and lets just say, it can be hard to find cloths that fit but are also trendy. Brian worked with me to help make my clothes fit the way they should and look great! I am so thankful for his consultative approach, because lets face it, I dont always know what I am doing. Brian and his team came in and saved the day at the last minute when I needed rushed alterations for my wedding dress (the dress came in late from the designer and our wedding was literally 2 weeks away!). Excellent service! I went to Glenwood South Tailors desperate after having a pair of pants butchered by another tailor with my wedding less than 2 weeks away. Needed a quick turnaround on some alterations for a business suit and after visiting two other tailors who were unable to accommodate, I found Glenwood South Tailors. They were very thorough and were able to make additional recommendations that set me up with the perfect fit. I needed an expensive dress to be hemmed within 4 days to meet a wedding celebration deadline.
