The owners have very impressive knowledge of quality diamonds and I sold my diamonds for $1500.00 more than what the highest quality jeweler in Raleigh offered me! I was very happily surprised! When selling precious metals and diamonds most sellers including myself can have a limited knowledge of what their jewelry is really worth which makes it easy for buyers to pull the wool over your eyes but these guys are both honest and fair! Like most coin shops, GI has a box of junk coins for 15-20c each. I use them to make jewelry and so do not want exp coins, making these perfect for me. Recently I found a 1872 Indian head penny and put it in the pile I intended to buy. I didnt know if it was worth much, but figured it was too cool to pass up. One of the owners, Skip, came over a few minutes later and asked, is this the stuff youre getting? Yes, I said. He started shuffling through them, saw this one, and slipped it out. I saw him do this and said, again, those are the ones Im buying. He said that one shouldnt have been in the box. It was a $3 coin. God knows Id spent far more that that in the months Id be shopping there. It seemed to me that its being worth $3 should not be cause for refusing to sell it under the posted terms. He then checked a coin guide and said, no, turns out it was a $15 coin. I reminded him that Id been digging through the box for a half hour. I didnt know that I was doing his work for him -- if he wanted to sort out the coins in the junk box before putting them out, fine, but it hardly seemed fair for him to just put them all out and then refuse to sell me anything good that I might find. He said it didnt matter much what I thought because its not exactly like youre a big customer. After I left I googled and discovered it was actually a $90 coin.If he had just been honest and said, this is a $90 coin I put in here by mistake.... Id have said fine. I understand human error. Instead he was dishonest and manipulative, rude and unprofessional. I wont shop there again, but if you choose to, just remember, buyer beware.

I went to Golden Isles and worked with Anthony - he was absolutely wonderful. He made my dream come true of having my own bomb of a diamond - in exchange for my gold coins and jewelry. It was close but Anthony made it happen for me! I saw the diamond that he returned with and it was a powerful stone! Wow!! After seeing the reviews I decided to try them, after all the reviews and not one bad one. I had 2 Tiffany sterling money clips. They paid me more for one than what National pawn offered me for two!!!! I had other items to sell although they didnt want them all they were professional, dressed nice and very helpful. I love this gold buying shop. Seriously.This week, I went in to sell some gold for the second time.From this point on,I wont go anywhere else in the triangle. Very polite staff and I was literally floored by what they gave me. I took the same jewelry to a pawn shop and got offered $500. Golden Isles gave me $1230. YEAH YOU READ THAT RIGHT!!!!! You don’t happen to have any more knowledge than the next guy just as they don’t have any more knowledge than you do. It’s silver; there’s a price for it; take it or leave it.You are in the customer service business. So, when a guy like me comes in, you should never say, “I’m not going to waste my time going through this” especially when you:-know I’m going to go elsewhere to check prices.-don’t have anyone else waiting behind me.You said, “I’ve done this 1,000 times,” and what I’m telling you, sir, from a businessman who is successful to a businessman who is hoping to make it: that is what you do. 1,000 times or a million...doesn’t matter. You treat every customer that comes in as if it is an opportunity to create a lifelong fan.Not only am I not a lifelong fan, but anyone I meet for the rest of my life, when the subject of coins comes up, I will make sure the person I’m speaking with avoids Golden Isles.I’m choosing to sell my silver to Austin Mattox, because he took the time to sit with me to go through it. And even when I said to him, “Don’t you love doing this?” he said, “Not as much with the silver...it’s pretty mundane” and still proceeded to walk me through what I had. I recently decided to sell a diamond ring and after checking out numerous websites and online reviews I decided to visit Golden Isles. I had only been to one other pawn shop locally to sell jewelry and I really didnt know what to expect...I had been told there wasnt much of a market for what I had to sell. As soon as I walked in the store, I was greeted by both Skip and Anthony. Instantly, I felt at home and knew I would have a positive experience. Anthony appraised my ring and talked with me honestly about its value. I walked out with cash and a sense of peace that I had been treated fairly. I would trust Golden Isles if I had other jewelry to sell and plan on returning when I decide to purchase gold to add to my portfolio.

One of my favorite spots in the 919 area to buy bullion or coins and I’ve seen them give peope more than fair prices for many random items. All of the merchants I have dealt with were very friendly and they always offer unbeatable prices right above the spot.. i haven’t sold them anything yet but I’ve asked ab prices and they also seem unbeatable, so there is no wonder there isn’t competition very close by.. recommend calling in and talking to them before bringing in a large amount of anything Bc on any random day they might be buying certain items more than others

Anthony is the best gold and diamond buyer in North Carolina. He always offers us more for our gold, silver and coins than anyone else.He is the kind of guy to go to when you have a jewelry or gold question, when you want to test an item or if you need something. He is always our first phone call and has become our friend and trusted advisor.Recently, I bought my wife a wedding ring and a week before our wedding, she freaked out when she noticed one of the small diamond stones fell out. A couple of jewelers did not want to do the repair so I called Anthony for help. He took it and had his personal jeweler, the best in NC, work on it immediately and got it back to me within 7 days for our wedding. He charged us nominally for the major repair and just said to let people know your experience working with me, hence this review.

I called the shop and asked about 20$ Canadian currency coins, the person on the phone offered 17$. When I arrived at the shop I presented the exact coins discussed on the telephone, at which point they offered me $5 per coin. I demanded to speak with the person who had answered the phone so that I could ask them why they had wasted my time - they told me the person who answered the phone was not there. I left work early and drove 30 miles each way, 60 miles of driving, I dont appreciate people wasting my time (and money since I left work to go there.)
