I had an online appointment at 9am and dropped the car at the schedule time. 3 hours later, I called for an update since I haven’t heard back from them. A guy picked up and said my car was going into the bay for inspection and that he will call back in a few minutes. I waited over an hour and no call. Called the store again and the phone just rang. Tried a few more times and no one was picking up. Decided to drive there and see what was going on. When I got there, my car was parked in the same spot I left it in the morning. Talked to the cashier guy who seemed to not care. He had the mechanic check on the car and was told that it has not been looked at yet. What a waste of my time. I asked for my key and took my business elsewhere.The online appointment is a joke. I was told by the cashier that they scheduled several customers at the same time but do not have enough mechanics to work. DO NOT WASTE TOUR TIME HERE. They have no respect for your time and do not communicate.
Absolutely horrible customer service. I would not recommend this pep boys in Redondo Beach. I was promised an hour wait and purchased 4 new tires. I walked out after 2.5 hours. It turns out they broke a sensor when replacing one of the tires. I understand things happen but noone told me until I wanted to know why it was taking so long. There were technicians standing around doing nothing. In addition, the area service directors name and number were on a sign encouraging people to call. When I called the number to complain it was the main number and the person who answered the phone was obviously reading a script as he kept saying the same thing and wasnt listening to me. His name is Carlos. He would not transfer me to Phil who is the area service director. I finally gave up. I had hoped to talk to a manager and not post this, but your company gave me no choice. I never received an apology from anyone. The pep boys staff needs to learn customer service. I wont be returning.
Uber vehicle inspection. Super friendly, not too busy, didn’t have to wait long.
Went in for a simple tire patch which should take 20-30 minutes tops. I understand there may have been a few people ahead of me but the 1-1.5 hour long wait seemed excessive still. I saw 3 people arrive after me and have their services completed before my car was even off the lift which it was on for about an hour before they actually started working on it. Ultimately it took close to 3 hours for them to finish. I was told it too so long because the “new guy” was working on it but even so there’s absolutely no reason it should take that long. Not at all how I wanted to spend my Sunday afternoon. Going elsewhere from now on.
Never been to a Pepboys before being from Canada, we dont have them but was pleasantly surprised when I stopped in in hopes of finding 1-2 things and found a bunch of stuff that I needed. Definitely worth the stop by for any mechanic, automotive enthusiasts or anyone needing some work done on their car ... will be visiting this location in the future for sure!!! Friendly & helpful staff were great as well!

This place is not organized and customer service is lacking. I was given an estimate of 1 hour but it took 2 hours for the job to get done (after I followed up and stood outside the store to ensure that the work is done). Further, I was not informed about recommended fixes on my car and didnt get the chance to have these done.
I made an appointment but I dont know why they have you do that since I waited for 20 minutes and no one came to me. No mechanic whatsoever. I went to them finally and told them I was there I was the only guest in the mechanic area. Anyways the mgmr and some mechanic looked at me as if I was interrupting their morning talk... I was so annoyed I only go to the pep boys on Sepulveda but they couldnt do what I needed. I hope to never ever go here again. Horrible customer service. The customer is obviously a bother to them. I have told co workers and friends do not go here!!!! Unless you want to wait around and be ignored.

On my way home my low tire pressure light came on. I was told I had to wait for 1 hour at PB on Hawthorne Blvd. So I went to PB in Redondo Bch, and guy told me to pull up at garage and Christian just put air in all my tires, taking his time from other cars, unlike the other store.
We have been going to Pep Boys in Redondo for several years. The auto service has always been excellent and the employees are super helpful and professional, special thanks to Ian! We highly recommend Pep Boys, they have always treated us well!
They have people who dont know anything about cars working here. I asked for help and they just pointed me in a direction and couldnt even help me with any question I asked.

I just picked up a tire plug kit from Pep Boys went home followed the instructions and the tool proceeded to break off inside of my tire. Went back to Pep Boys on a spare and while they did reimburse me for the tool they refused to repair my tire. The assistant managers name is Jeanette and she has again refused to provide any customer service. This is compounded by the fact that the manager Jessy does not seem to care one way or the other. Service is going to repair the tire now for a charge of $20. I was not compensated for my time or inconvenience. Don’t go here. Don’t shop here. Run away from here. Good people who are there for you when you need them to be in both the Hertz and Lyft sectors. The Hertz team is solid after a rocky start in the first couple of days. Great improved. I hope they all continue to have a great 2020!
I like this place for parts.I wouldnt let them touch my car for service ever, Ive seen crazy things come.out of that shop. But should you need parts for a DIY job.. hit them up if the other local places dont have the parts
It took them 5 min to check my battery and sell me a new one....... it took over 2 hours to install it. This place is empty. I dont understand. Never coming back here again. This isnt the first time Ive been unhappy with this place. the service is terrible and the selection is poor.

Had low tire pressure light on dash. They had plugged a tire for me 3 weeks ago & I was worried it was leaking. They checked all tires & set them right and cleared code for free, even giving me a cap for a tire that was missing one, with very little wait.
Tony the service manager gave me new faith in Pep Boys air conditioning mechanics. He explained everything that needed to be fixed and then fixed what he said he would. Tony gives excellent service. I’ll now go back to Redondo Beach Pep Boys for more service.
Fantastic store. I was driving and a headlamp went out..I googled nearest automotive shop open, it was 8:00 pm. Google maps directed me to this location which was very close to where I was, I walked in and exclaimed my headlamp is not working. An associate walked out to my car. I turned on the lights, she stated its an easy fix..sold me a new light for under 10 dollars and then replaced the old one in less than a minute.. and refused a tip and said this is what we do at pep boys great store. Amazing salespeople.
Booked an appointment and took my car in for a simple part replacement. The guy who took my keys said it would take 2 hours but it took 7 HOURS for them to finish the job. And they didnt call me, I had to call them to see if it was ready. If you value your time at all, dont go here
They quotes me $80 for an oil change saying I needed synthetic oil. I looked on Hondas website and bought the recommended oil for $10 and did it myself.Edit: Hi, I was wrong. I ended up not buying enough oil and did not understand I needed to purchase an oil filter. After getting more advice from my dad about the issue, I ended up coming back and paying the price which I think is fair. They did a great job. Im sorry for the rude comment left above, it wasnt fair.
I needed a new car battery. They didnt have a big selection, but the employee helped make sure it fit. Staff was friendly.
I had an appointment to get my car serviced at 1:00pm I arrived about 12:50. I checked in, and gave the clerk my keys to get the car serviced. I walked around the corner to Rite Aid was gone about a good 45 minutes, I returned to Pep Boys to see that my car is parked in the same spot. No one has touched my car. I ask was my car serviced already and the clerk said No, the Mechanics are at lunch. It is Now 2:00pm and No One is Here and there are 2 other Patrons waiting also. The lady said theyve been gone since 12:30. I dont understand why I have an appointment at the time there is no one to service my car. The clerk doesnt seem to care either. This is Unacceptable and a Major Inconvenience. Something Needs to Be Done About this. There should Be Some Kind Of Accountability. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PEP BOYS AND I DONT RECCOMEND ANYONE TO EVER COME HERE.
Diagnosed mycar Im 1 hour, acwasmot working,due to an electrical issue, they could not fix it.
Ive come here a few times - every time has been sub par. I am definitely overcharged, and Im pretty sure they have not done the oil change that I have asked for each time Ive come. How do I now feel I confidently know this? Im sitting now in the pep boys, after being called that my car was done (they had it 8 hrs), got into my car and saw the maintenance light was still on. I come back in to tell them its still on, and the mechanic comes out and says he didnt do the oil change that I was charged for!! Now Im waiting while they quickly do it... Im sure that will produce great results. Ive learned my lesson... not coming again.

Couldnt accept my gift cards as I hoped, and even worse, over inflated my tired well beyond its limits (went back and they corrected). Employee Jason is the only reason Im not resting them a 1 or two, but likely wont come back to this location. I also wish they would have given me the full story initially when changing a tire; only presented me with the more expensive option until I showed hesitation with the price... Eventually decided it was the right call, but would have appreciated the information presented at the start

Overall, Pep Boys does a decent job for things like oil change, tires, etc. I dont know that I would do major car service there. On this occasion, I had purchased a battery with a warranty and the battery went bad. It was replaced no charge. Its best to make an appointment for getting services. The help is a bit slow but generally, they get the job done.

Straight forward pricing without the bs you get at so many neighborhood mechanics. They also offer a lifetime alignment for $170. For the rest of the time I own the car, if I hit a pot hole at high speeds I just take the car back and they realign it. A no brainer deal for anyone living in Central LA.

Worst service ever. Was told by manager that I could drop off vehicle on sunday morning to have a 3 minute computer test ran. Even told them exactly how to do it and yet three days later its still not done, they still have my car. take 30 plus minutes to answer the phone, and Ive been in the store, it is never busy. and every time I call to get an update when they do finally answer the person responsible is never available. Im told Ill get a call back in 15 20 minutes, no call 2 plus hours later and have to call back and do the whole process again to just be told it wasnt done. Yet they call themselves mechanics. Waste of time. Wouldnt rely on them fill my tank with gas.
I made an appointment three days ago for service. I completed the service questionnaire asking what service I needed. When I arrive today, Friday I was early for my appointment by almost an hour. The lot was full of cars. I waited in line behind someone who also has scheduled an appointment. After waiting 10 minutes someone came out from the shop and asked they guy in front of me what was the reason for his visit. He stating he made an appointment to have his air conditioner checked. The person representing Pep boys replied, youll have to come back tomorrow because our AC guy is off today and this is his only day off. Really? When I mentioned that I was there for an AC related issue, the Pep Boys representative just nodded his head. So here is my challenge. I will offer my time to do customer service training in exchange for the service your were supposed to provide me for my scheduled appointment.

The whole mess, that shouldve taken an hour only, caused me to have to cancel another job I had booked (thanks for the loss of income as well)... I should not have been stuck at pep boys until 6/6:30pm, when my appt was a 2pm. Your manager is BS.... please make Kris your shop manager b/c hes the only one that does things right, and is always left as the last man standing to take care of business and/or make things as right or best as he can! **Update to your reply... Picked up a replacement battery for a family member...paid the $18 core charge (taxable) because I didnt have the old battery with me to swap. Returned old battery and got back the core charge only, no tax. Was given some lame excuse about that being a California thing. Change the core charge to non taxable in your system, its a fee not a taxable item!! The next day we install new battery and the car still doesnt start, have car towed thinking its a different problem only to find out the new battery is dead, no life in it whatsoever!! Return new battery but not before the manager takes it to the back and tries to tell me theres nothing wrong with it. Get my refund minus $1, not sure why...must be another CA thing. Shady shady store!! Do NOT give them your business.
My mom and I have been going to Pepboys for decades, this is by far our favorite one. In all our experience here the mechanics have very upfront, transparent and have never tried to upsell us/misdiagnose our car. Lines are usually long/slow but its worth it when you know the workers are being thorough with every car and customer.
The slowest service Ive ever experienced!! My bf and I went in and approached a desk where someone was stationed. He sent us to a desk where no one was. We waited at least 15 minutes until someone told us that someone would be right with us. We waited another 10 minutes until we were able to leave. Horrible service!
The customer service people didnt approach me and when I asked for help at the cash register it was if I was bothering them.I went straight to AutoZone and paid more for the product I wanted and will be taking the part back to Pep Boys for a refund.And its strictly do to the customer service I received at the Redondo Beach store on Artesia Blvd.

Truly terrible service. I went there to replace my battery. It took over four hours. The worst part came later. The battery turned out to be bad. It took over 20 hours and 4 visits to get battery replaced. The service was plain awful. People were rude. It took over 20 minutes to get anyones attention. Will never go back.

Made an appointment for 5pm, and my car sat till 5:55 with 5 employees on lunch break sitting in the garage. I could see them eating as my car sat just beyond them for almost an hour. Whose bright idea was it to schedule me during a lunch break. Why did I even make an appointment if I waited an hour for it to even get touched. I was given a 1 hr eta ended up being 2 1/2. As I waited I heard another gal complaining that her car was sitting there for an hour with out anyone pulling it in. Sounds like it’s a their standard pace.
Incompetent mechanics! Or trainees that will damage your car and not tell you what they have done wrong! Then they will deny any responsibility for what they have done!
These guys are super slow and relaxed. I visited here three times walk-in, everytime they tell me 2-3 hours wait time even though I dont see them being busy. Only one person was on waiting room. Maybe because only one guy works on front. They want appointment only. How long does a lyft inspection takes? 10 min or less and they want me wait 2 hr for that. I went different location and in-n-out did not take me more than 20 min. Uber/lyft need to find different partner who are prompt and modern, not old school style like pep boys. Im done with this company.
The new layout of the store favors backstock versus retail merchandising which is great because I dont buy most of the junk in the middle of the store and now they have more space to stock the parts we need.Its usually busy here and I have to wait a little bit but the staff are friendly and on it
Went in 2 times to get my tire repaired.. They told me they could not fix it.. That was it. I drive a late modle Range Rover and knowone asked me if I wanted 2 new tires. Let alone one. They just waked away. Guess business is that good. If you are in a bind and have to deal with Pep Boys then you will get service, but only because you have no choice. I highly recommend a different shop if you have options! Horrible service.
My store has the best staff and best prices for products and servicing. I luv the way you fill in the blanks on the website about your vehicle. It tells you when and if you need anything. I am just a patron and am not a spokesperson or employee, past or present.

Very, very slow. They operate painfully slow even when the store is completely empty. Employees standing and staring into space while you twiddle your thumbs, confused in front of an empty desk. How do they stay in business at this level of apathy? They will forget you are there if you don’t speak up and make yourself heard. Will never come here again if I do not have to. The actual service done on the car wasn’t that bad so I’d say two stars. Customer service left a lot to be desired though. Everyone is very aloof here for some inexplicable reason.
I made an appointment for 10am, they open at 9am, for a brake check and to get a smog check. I dropped my car off at 9:50am and was told itd be an hour to an hour and a half. I come back at 11am, my car hadnt moved from where I parked it. About 11:10, they finally move it into the garage. I then get a call around 11:55 saying my brakes are still good but 3 belts should be changed out. I tell them to go ahead and change them out. After waiting another hour and 15minutes, I ask how much longer itll be till my car is done and Im told itll be 2 hours. So I have now told them i dont want the belts changed and I just need my car. CONCLUSION: had an appointment for 10am & left PepBoys at 1:40pm (3hrs40mins later) with only a brake check done. And I didnt get the smog check because they lost their STAR license a year ago. I will never go back to this location again.
Unfortunately I had a very poor customer experience. Everyone seemed like they were tired and working in slow motion. Not the same Pep Boys as I remember.

Zero parkingWhen I finally found a place to park, I went inside and there was one customer at the cashier. I understand that theres some construction taking up parking spots but judging by the rest of the parking lot, there shouldve been a booming business going on in there. Purchased a battery 2yrs ago with 3yrs warranty, it died today, went to this store and they replaced it with a new one free of charge. They tested the old battery and realized it was bad in 10min. Great experience.

Took the service department 5 tries to figure out that the reason my check engine light would keep coming on was because the o2 sensor they put in on the first trip in was faulty and they didnt even figure it out! They just gave us our money back and told us that this was beyond their scope to diagnose and sent us to the dealer...

Always had problems at this Pep Boys location with the Services. The mechanics will take advantage of you $$$$, if you dont know anything about your vehicle. If you have 4 hours to kill for a proper oil change, go there. They will keep you waiting around while they look for any little problems in your vehicle, when you just want a simple oil change. Last two time I went there, they overfill the oil in my vehicle (overfilling the oil can damage or destroy the engine). And both times I had to argue with the mechanics how to read the oil stick (the oil stick never lies!!!), the oil should never be above the line or above the F. Plus I wanted a tire rotation, but no they took all the brakes apart and didnt do a tire rotation at all. One more thing, the outside of the store should be cleaned, and the trash cans should be emptied out. I heard the Pep Boys in Torrance is better...
Make an appointment. This pepboys is way busier than the other local ones.

I went in to get my oil changed and see about an over heating problem ... i was told before i agreeded to have them fix the cost would be around $250 when i picked it up it cost $450 they forgot to charge me labor... wish i would have know before hand. drove the car home and seen oil all over the frount of the car check engine light came on and it started smoking ... brought it back now they said i have an oil leak and a hole and it leaked all over my turbo as they said. The man was extremely rude and acted as if i was incompetent when i was asking questions. I will never go back 800$ later with the rental car and my car is still broken.
The store itself is small so the availability of products might be limited, but the cashier and the service department was extremely helpful and nice.
Had to return a battery for the core charge. That experience wasnt near as pleasant as purchasing the battery.
I went here last night for an oil change and tire rotation. A tire bolt broke during the tire rotation. Sal alerted me of the problem right away and told me what they were doing to fix it. I had to wait longer, but Sal handled the situation well. He was professional and courteous.Ive gone here multiple times for oil changes, ignition coils, and new tires. I will continue going here.

12/21/13I can not give them a star. Well...Im being made to give them a starLast Saturday, I brought my car in for an oil change, a change of windshield wipers, and a new headlight.Apparently they rotated my tires too. I didnt know they did this.With all of the hustling at the end, adding air to my tires and what not...I was feeling impressed.Not by the time I made it to the traffic light on Artesia and Aviation. I was too hungry to turn around and said to myself I will come back...i just have to have something to eat.While depressing my clutch and applying my brakes...something was squeaking and creaking very loudly in my back end. it sounds like it is either rotating or torquing. A week later, I still have the problem.I took it to a mechanic friend, he took the back wheels off, checked for wear and tear, looked in the trunk area...did the same. He was baffled!I returned the following morning...explained what I was hearing and that I needed to be helped first thing. I didnt get the service persons name...a tall latino, a big guy, asked me what the problem was. after hearing my description he mentioned my rotors. I said I had had my brakes done fairly recently. He asked if my mechanic machined them. Yes, he always does them correctly. I later come to find out that the rotors are only on the front wheels. And so that would have been impossible anyway.He asked me if I wanted my tires rotated back. I said yes.Of course that wouldnt have fixed anything...that was not the problem.There wasnt any offer of getting to the bottom of the problem and taking ownership of it.I can not believe that my car was in very good running condition upon coming in (no noises, no problems, drives very well) and I drive away with a problem.What happened here???Needless to say, I will never return. I posted this on FB and I can see Im not alone. Not a very good history Pep Boys on Artesia.
