I bought new tires for my BMW at Cycle Gear and had them install them also. I dropped off my rims and told the employee that I couldn’t come back until the next day.I went to lunch and 50 minutes later I received a phone call saying my tires are ready. What great service. They saved me a trip back the next day. They were prompt, courteous and very professional. Highly recommend. Thanks very much for the great service. Dennis

Great customer service and it has been consistent from the many visits I’ve made to the store in Redwood City. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. It’s easy to exchange or return items. I’m glad that there is a motorcycle gear store near by. I like to see things in person and try clothes on to make sure they fit if I can.

Great service at an affordable price. I was getting a front tire replaced for my 2019 BMW R1250GS, chatted with the local rep for a same day appointment. We were able to schedule that within a few minutes and the actual tire change only took about 15 min. As I had purchased the replacement tire elsewhere and needed discarding of my old tire, the service came in at less than $55. A good price for great service. Thank you, guys!

Staff Michael did not know that auto & cycle part descriptions ARE FROM THE RIDERS POSITION, so it took him 13 minuets on the phone to comprehend what I was telling him to confirm that the positive battery terminal was on the right front of the battery! He had the battery in his handand kept telling me the front of his bran front was where the lettering is maybe true but total wrong way! When I finally got him up to speed he did the passive aggressive trick of passing the buck to other clerk & tried to put me on hold instead of processing my credit card. Everyone else at the store was great. I cant believe Cycle Gear doesnt train this basic principal. This is so standard & basic!

Very easy transaction. Friendly staff at Redwood City location. I had a second transaction on 7-22-21 where associate 111849 and cashier 11859 assisted me. The young Asian woman was explaining the Cycle Gear membership program to a previous customer which I overheard. She was very positive and pleasant during her speech. She began to tell me the program at which time I told her I overheard her pitch and because I dont shop there often enough it would not present a good value to me. The Redwood City location is a consistently friendly and helpful staff.

It took a few iterations to find the right sized pants. What bothered me is that they only had size 4 in stock. I tried it, but it was too small and hurt my knees, so I ordered the correct size online. I returned and asked to do an exchange to get my MSF discount. The representative said he could not honor this. So I am being punished for the store not being adequately stocked.

Been shopping at Cycle Gear since the early 90s & have had mostly pleasant experiences. Yeah, every once in a while you get that young gearhead that knows it all & is bias as all hell. But you generally get good honest hard-working peeps with just the right amount of knowledge. If you want Cycle Gear to stick around & your just cheap, keep this in mind: Every once in a while you just might need to pry that crusty wallet open with your wifes Volvos car jack & actually pay retail! Thats how they pay the rent & staff that just spent an hour ensuring that helmet fit you properly! Anywho, Thanks for always being there & congratulations on getting those doors open! (kinda open)

This place is tiny compared to other locations. They did their best to show whats available but theres a high likelihood that they wont have your suze, color, and style in stick. They can always order it but that is another trip back to the store. What they lack in space is made up by the outstanding service and knowledge of the staff who work here. I wish I can give this place a higher rating but I have to consider the size and aesthetics. It is a retail location after all. Parking sucks and expect to circle around the block several times to find one.

Great place! Ive gone here for my bike gear and tune-up stuff and theyre always helpful. The return policy is generous as well: I bought a pair of very nice gloves that unfortunately didnt fit me well. Two months later I finally had time to go by for the return and they were totally fine with it. Only hard part has been that this particular location in Redwood City is fairly small so they sometimes dont have the size I need in-stock, but theyre always willing to check the SF and San Jose locations.

Wheels were roughly handled, mount and balance tires work sloppy. Old weight was removed and old adhesive was not cleaned before new weight applied. Shop asked me to inspect tires before paying and after touching one of the weights it simply fell off. When mentioning to tech he talked back to me and said I brought the rims in dirty. Tech gave me a new weight and did not even attach it for me??? Very confused.

I went to cycle gear in an attempt to replace a bike lock for a broken key. I called this place up a few days in advance to know what my options are, maybe getting a new key or something of that matter. After an exchange if some information of describing the lock I found out the lock has been discounted and unable to even special order. The girl on the phone said just bring it in and we can trade it in. Not sure how that would work as my lock is pretty old. But I even asked do I need to pay the difference, she said nah, well take care if you, my manager will clear it so my guess they are going to give me some crappy model. I go in to the store and explain to the gentlemen the story of the conversation we had on the phone with the female employee, he takes the lock to the to consult with his Manger, the clerk comes out asks more details such if I have a receipt(which I dont), he goes back in updates the manager, the clerk says we can give you 5 dollars in store credit, because you dont have a receipt and we dont know how much you paid. And its such an old model thats the last price we can find. I asked can just buy a new lock he said no its discounted, the manager cane out said maybe we can find the receipt by the name, and he checked for 5 years back and still couldnt find it. Then I noticed on the cycle gear website the same lock was a praised at 7.99 and the manager agrees to give at 7.99, so then I grab a lock on the wall thats on sale for 50% normally 24.99 now its 12.49. It rings up as 16.99. I told him out the incorrect price he checks the promo sign indeed its supposed to be 12.49. So after the 12.49 and 7.99 store credit I paid 4.91 after taxes for a lock. I was pretty happy I felt like it was a pretty good deal. But the girl on the phone did misinformed me about not having to pay the difference, and they way these things are priced the key really shouldnt break in the first place. 25 dollar lock was the cheapest and went all the way up to 89.99 seriously. So the customer service was the reason I gave 4/5 stars but I didnt give the other star because of the fact the girl misinformed and key broke(like the metal part that goes into the lock sheared off the plastic part you hold on)

The staff here has always been great. No complaint on that front, but Ive always had trouble finding what I need in this store. Its small for a cycle gear, and their selection is very hit or miss. They can order stuff for you, but you can do that from the web site. Parking can be frustrating, since they only have the street outside and the lots on either side are for those businesses. Yes, you could park there, but . . . Street parking on the side streets can be impossible. Other cy let gear locations are better stocked, though, again, the people who work here have always been great.

I just got a new bike and needed a jacket and maybe pants. Was excited to go there on my break from work.I walk in and no hi from any of the three people standing at the counter. I proceeded to walk around and inspect jackets, I tried 3 of them on and no one came to help me out. Another gentleman came into the store, got a hi and chatted with one of the guys there and I thought that was really interesting. After which, I decided they do not need my business and I started taking pictures of tags so I could order this stuff online. I left without a goodbye and I will never set foot in that store again. I do not care to support attitudes such as those on display in that store.I really hate bringing up the rACE card[Im an African-American male], but it was rather apparent that was what was going on. I came in from work dressed quite well with non-baggy jeans and a well fitted untucked button down and I got no service, none whatsoever. Not even a hello or a good bye. This was the first place that Ive gone to in the bay that was so backward, even Texas was better.I would not recommend this place to anyone, Id rather not see this place and the kind of attitude spread anywhere else.I rarely rarely ever write reviews, but I could not let this go unsaid.[I posted the same review on Yelp]

I had a bad experience trying to replace a tire while on a road trip. I stopped in to order a replacement and let them know I was tripping and needed the tire changed so I could carry on. They promised to call when the tire was in a change it in a jiffy. They failed to call me when the tire I ordered arrived (leaving me a day longer than I needed to be here). When I got to the store to get the tire replaced, I was surprised to find out they did not, in fact, have the equipment to change the tire: I had to get the rim off the bike first, and it was going to be a two day turnaround.I guess they thought I would be happy bringing my rim from my tent to their store by foot in my backpack, and then waiting around for days for them to do a one hour job.By contrast, Santa Clara Cycles had a tire on the shelf and booked me in to replace it the next day, no hassles, no waiting. I was amazed at how I had been sold a solution that was unworkable and expected to simply abide it.
