I have an 80s model I just got and mounted on my 1993 f250It sat for a number of years out side in Nevada and is still water tight exsept a little leakage around window frames shows some light suface rust on channel framework but none on the sheet metalHowever it is solid I carry a 220 pound 4 in. gold dredge on the roof I have also walked all over the roof stepping only where internal ribs are I weigh190 lbs along with dredgeThe doors and latches .still work but need to be replaced due to wear over 30 some yearsHowever I plan on using it for exstened camping trips in bear countryI plan on buying another one, but a new one they are spendy but one should last a lifetime if a little tlc is usedYou can also custom install shelfs over windows using material of the shelf from local hardware store and or some welding skills
