A nice group or couples activity to do. The shop is small. The staff was very knowledgeable about making candles. It’s very hands on and a quick process to create your candle. The drying time for the candles was a concern for me because it takes 3 hrs to fully set. I went for 7 pm and they close at 8 pm. I wasn’t looking forward to driving about 45 minutes to pick up a candle the next day. Luckily a friend who was still in the area the next day picked up the candles. I also didn’t care for the scents they had but I settled for rosewood & vanilla.

Overall, the candle making experience was quick and fun, but the customer service could have been better. We arrived at 3:15pm with no reservation because we werent sure what time we would arrive and didnt want to miss the reservation. When we arrived, although there was only 1 other couple in the store/class, we were told they werent taking walk-ins at the moment and they had no supplies available due to supply chain issues. After seeing our disappointment and confusion, a manager was brought over and we were told they were reservation-based, but they found room for us during the 4pm class. When we returned at 3:50pm for the class, we were now the only individuals there and nobody else showed up for the 4pm class. The manager made a joke that we had a private class because none of the other 4pm class participants showed up. This seemed suspicious to me as you had to prepay for the class and Im not sure why someone would prepay for a class to not show up. It was further frustrating once we started the class and realized that everything was self-paced and therefore no staff was really needed during the process, hence we could have started at 3:15 and not waited 45 minutes for the 4pm class. It seemed like the managers reasonings didnt make a lot of sense and that she was on a bit of a power trip and trying to control the process. Again, we enjoyed the candle-making, but I probably wont be back to this location.

We did this as a corporate event, and it was a great experience! Ragan was incredibly helpful and fun as she patiently walked our rather large group through the process. Would highly recommend this to friends and family!

To start off I was going to give this place a 1 star. When we came into this location for a candle experience we were thrilled and excited. When we arrived and got sat and saw the container “vessel” options we were given a choice from we were beyond disappointed. We went about our business and kept it moving to create our candles. After all it was just a nice sisters outting. Once we got to the fragrance wall we were overwhelmed with all the options. Loren had come over and asked if maybe she could be of assistance with our selection. We had a nice conversation with the different scents and it really helped with her fun tid bites of information. Once we sat back down to move onto the next steps in the processes another young lady came over to give us some wicks. We asked her if they ever got new containers and she expressed this was her first shift back from college and grabbed the store manager. Loren came over and explained the lack of vessels. Shipping delays seems to be the way of the world and we understood that. However we could tell her frustration in this delay as if it was her own. She kept apologizing and explained that we do get a discount on their little shop and a lot of those vessels are able to be repoured at a hefty discount which in return gave us more options down the road. We will definitely be coming back!!!!

The experience was great! I reserved a session for a group of 6 for my cousins bachelorette party, and the staff were incredible! It was a self-paced class, had many containers and scents to choose from. Easy to follow instructions. Great lighting for pictures on the back wall:)

The store is super cute with a lot of different candle vessels to choose from. However it is 100% DIY and the scents are premade. For $30 you pick your vessel and pick a scent off the shelves and pour it. That’s it. You also have to come back in 3 hours to pick it up.Great staff who were very friendly and helpful, but personally not worth the spend.

I took my 13-year-old niece for a girl date night and had the best time. Shannon had so many helpful tips and interesting candle facts that made the night that much more enjoyable. The fragrances are divine and the vessel selection was impressive! Cant wait to pick up our candles!

Had an amazing time! The class was very easy and a fun experience. Our instructor was enthusiastic and you could tell her passion for her job! I cant wait to visit again during the fall/winter time when they have themed events that also include other crafts/activities!

Went as a group as 4. Once we realized the curing time took 3 hours we decided to ship all our candles to the same place. HOWEVER, they still charged each of us $12 shipping even though they are going to the same place!!! Basically 3 of us paid an extra $12 for NO PURPOSE!! The experience was nice but this made it very inconvenient for our group and felt they were basically robbing us $36 after paying $30 to make our own candle.

Our experience here was fun, but definitely not worth the price. The candles are only customizable up to a point. There is a decent selection of vessels, but no option to decorate them which would be really fun. There is not a great selection of scents and no option to mix and match scents. They didn’t even have all the scents that were listed. I would love if they had more scents and the ability to create your own scent. The process of pouring the candle itself was very fast. Another improvement could be to add the option to have different colors of wax besides white. At the end we were informed that instead of doing the $40 workshop we could have come in at any time and made candles for $30. I didn’t see that on their site and feel like I wasted $10. Even at $30 though, I don’t think this is worth the cost. If the candles were more customizable I would consider doing this again, but otherwise I don’t think it’s worth it.

This place is amazing! I called to get some details and the sweetest girl answered the phone- Lauren. She was so helpful and able to walk me through the entire process of how our time there would be spent. She answered every single question I asked. I am so pleased with my experience I will be sending everyone I can to enjoy this fun place- specifically at the Reston location so they can work with Lauren!

Not impressed. You’re paying a lot for the high end location and bourgeois accessories. I bought a pair of earrings and they broke on the way home. It was a fun experience but I wouldn’t go back.

We booked two spots for a Saturday evening class and had so much fun! There was a large selection of both candle vessels and fragrance blends to choose from, and the instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The $8 corking fee to bring your own alcohol is very reasonable and they were kind enough to provide cups since we forgot to bring our own. Once you take your candle home and use it, you can refill the candle vessels at a discounted price if you come back for another class. If youre looking for something fun and a little different, this is a great place to go.

A wonderful place for a date night or a Christmas gift. Though their times are usually every other hour, it’s a great place to work on candles with your friends and family. They have some other wares to sell, but the main draw is the candles. Very cool!

Alaa is literally amazing!!! She’s the sweetest ever and she’s so professional. She helps out so much. I absolutely love the environment and the candles are adorable! I will definitely visit and bring my sister.

Great Sunday afternoon date with my boyfriend to celebrate my birthday! Be aware that if they close less than 3hr before ur session ends, ur candle may not be ready!! Super energetic teacher who explained each step and answered questions. Recommend this if ur looking for something different, and fun!!

For the experience itself, I would give 4 stars. It was super fun, the space was really lovely, and the selection of vessels and scents were just gorgeous! Thats where the good part ends...Unfortunately, we picked up our candles (my daughter and I) and brought them home - so excited to burn them. We followed the instructions VERY carefully. The instructor had put the fear of tunneling in us! Mine (the terra cotta with the wood wick) burned for 3 hours the first time, yet is still tunnelling. My daughters (a 3-wick with lid) was worse. We trimmed the wicks to 1/4 inch as instructed, then burned it for 3 1/2 hours - or, we tried to! The tunneling was so bad that the wicks kept drowning and we would have to relight. It is not working at all, even after soaking up excess wax to try and keep the wicks from getting covered. My daughter is very sad and disappointed. Considering we spent $40 on each candle, so am I! I have left a message on their voicemail (they are only open Thursday - Saturday) and will update depending on their response to this situation.UPDATE: Even though they are not open, my email was answered today. After sending photos of the candles, the very kind person offered to send new ones out to us. I really appreciate the customer service! Given that we had so much fun at the event itself, I can definitely imagine doing this again.

This was such a cute storefront and candle-making experience. Everyone loved the interactive portion of pouring your own candle, but also the ability to pick your own scent and vessel from tons of options and colors! The candle class is 1 hour, and then on top of that they take 3 hours to fully dry so plan accordingly to pick up the candle 4 hours after the class start time, or pick up another day that month!

My friends and I had a great time at Candle Bar. Our instructor Fiona was amazing! She was energetic, and the class was both informative and fun!

Really good place, really nice staff

Great experience making the candle.However, we were told that we would receive new lids for the candles when we pick them up.Instead, we received scratched up and chipped lids that were in even worse shape.Basically, a waste of the jars because they are beat up and can not be reused.Approx $85 for two one use candles due to lid damage.
