Went to get pine straw today without a truck. The men working we’re extremely helpful in maximizing space and ensuring I got as much pine straw as I needed. They were very sweet and helpful, loading up my SUV for me! Thank you all so much!

Just an observation about something that happened today….(this was last week maybe the 8th) I needed a couple of things from a hardware store also needed gas. I was over by Plantation Hardware and although I have lived here 6 years I think I’ve been in that store maybe two times. I remember why….I walked in the door. No greeting which I can live with . I walked up to the counter ask a question the older man acknowledged me and then completely turned his back to me to tell a worker something. Ok I get it I’m just a customer and your busy. So I proceeded to try to help myself and started to look for what I needed. Score! Found the first thing then I set out to find the next item. Saw a young man putting coolers away I asked him if he could help me. Very accommodating and polite but not sure of the answer so he led me to another older guy who was talking to a man he turned and acknowledged me but said no they didn’t have what I needed. He was equally as flat as the guy at the cash register. Mind you I’m really trying to be kind by calling the two older guys flat. There are other words that describe them so much better but i’m trying to keep this G rated. Anyhow my point is Plantation Hardware needs to up it’s customer service game because there are other hardware stores in town where your greeted with a smile and a “Can I help you” and a “thank you”as you exit. Not a bunch of grumpy old men who seem to be to busy to be bothered by your very presence.I want to add that this post was removed from Richmond Hill Community page because someone reported it as “hate speech “. There is no hate speech in this comment. The majority of folks who commented agreed with me and there was one man who was rude and called me names.

I have been buying from Plantation Lumber ever since I moved back home here 16 years ago. I love this hardware store, they have the best selection and Coolest products. The Team that works there are knowledgeable, great to work with and very nice good people.

Super helpful, when unable to help they provide suggestions even to thier competition which just goes to the quality they provide. Little more expensive that the big box chains but you save on travel.

They’re always so helpful, and I’ve never went in there where they didn’t have exactly what I needed. Plus they have popular brands such as Yeti, Big Green Egg and Costa which make perfect gift ideas for that “hard to buy for man” in your life. Love that they carry.Benjamin Moore Paint too!

Terrible customer service. It appears to be good ole boy friendly only. Last few times I went there, got no help. The line was long and there no one on the register. Just people taking big orders. Will only go to ACE in RH from now on.

If you want an Ace Hardware but want to support local. Here it is. My only issue is the lumber area. It feels like you shouldnt be there. Even asking about it gets you the cold shoulder. The employees who manage the back will be glad to help you, just no one up front seems to like it. Very off putting.

Absolutely the worst customer service. Paid to have 2x6 boards and they gave me 5 quarter decking boards instead. Horrible management as well.

Thank GOD for the neighborhood hardware/lumber store!!I have wasted more time than I care to recall at the behemoth warehouse stores just looking for a particular fastener or a straight piece of lumber only to leave frustrated or bewildered at the ineptitude and ambivalence of some people.Plantations staff is knowledgeable and friendly and you wont waste an hour just to find out the staff is blowing smoke either because they wont admit they dont know what or where or theyre just burning daylight. If the folks at Plantation dont know it or dont have it theyll let you know instead of wasting your time to earn a customer service badge...Anyway, thank goodness for the local retailer.

This is what a hardware store is suppose to be. They won us over when my wife who is a kids soccer coach came in looking for a bottle of their No Gnat, to stave off the sand gnats here. The owner related they didnt have any left. My wife was in despair as she wanted to have stuff for the kids at the practice. This is where the old fashion charm of Richmond Hill came in. He told her to come with him, took her to his personal truck and gave her his bottle of the spray, and refused payment. This set the standard and now we will shop here, pay even a little extra, to support this local business. A true gem for Richmond Hill.

Very helpful and friendly staff. They dont have a big selection of items but they have all the basic stuff at a good price. I check here first before going all the way to Home Depot or Lowes. They can also mix any paint from Benjamin Moore, and have a good selection of wood stains.

Horrible customer service. Both employees that I spoke with acted if as if I were inconveniencing them. The first lackluster teen I asked to point me in the direction of the aisle I needed, barely looked up from the item he was very slowly putting away just to say eh if we have it, it would be over there, and gestured with his head. He pointed me in the wrong direction and very clearly had no idea as to what I was asking for. The second gentleman I spoke with had a slight bit more energy and walked to the aisle but only after having to explain what a four prong appliance cord was to him multiple times. I very much prefer to support local businesses however I do not enjoy being treated as an annoyance. At the minimum, a hello maam would have been nice. I just purchased a new home and expect to be doing a lot of remodeling, however I will take my business elsewhere.

Well it started great, store employees nice, reserving the auger (not sure how to spell it) was giving a price of the rental 66.00 with tax and they do give military discounts. Well ok 15.00 higher but everyone was rented out so i went ahead and picked it up.The auger didnt work good it was dull. took us 4 hours to dig 13 holes at only a foot in a half. But we were ok with it for it was still easier then digging it with a post hole digger.Well taking back the auger signing it in, we cleaned it, filled it up with gas and etc.Took to the back as we were instructed to do, went inside to the desk and this Man at the check out different looking from the others and not even as nice.He took the info then stated that will be 78.98 I was like WHAT you all told me yestrerday 66. with tax and today you decided to want almost 13.00 more for a auger that didnt even drill the hole properly, (Needed sharpened)They didnt even give the military discount that they said they gave us.NOT happy, he did revised the charge to 66.00 but did not give us the military discount that we were told they gave, in fact the guy with the rugged beard and not so hot personality told us they dont give one. UMM well I stated then why did they state it yesterday that they do?No replies.This company started out nice but ended up trying to over charge and also not giving the discount as they offered.Beware of the practice.

Our first choice is all sorts of home repair hardware, lumber, etc.Great rental department,too. They give a military discount.
