The car shook and after having the car for TWO weeks the check engine light came on. The car has been in the shop three times and I have to take it back this week. I’ve read some of the responses to the negative reviews and the companies claim that the vehicle is inspected prior to being placed on the lot is a lie. I put down $6,000.00 cash on this headache of a car and I regret it. This company knows what it’s doing when giving the short 30 day 1,500 mile warranty. It’s terrible they would take advantage of struggling people who are forced to use their overpriced service to get around. The consumer is being taken advantage of and it is not ok. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, they are more interested in making a sale than the well-being of their customers. I’m praying this fourth trip to the shop will resolve all my issues. The only benefit I have received from this company is the motivation to fix my credit so I can work with a more reputable company in the future.
Was quoted $179 down and $200 monthly over the phone, then was offered $1000 down and $450 a month in person. i dont know who they think they are but im not playing. 99% of residents in the area re not rich and every penny counts so accept that before you offer a deal on a car - which i need to go to work so i can survive, cause my current car is now dead. thanks for making me spend $70 in lyft fees to get to richmond on a quote that was a lie.

I brought my car in February and its already having issues... In a week my headlight went out and then my heat/ac went out I didnt do the extended warranty because the fact I was already close to 100000 miles which in return would have added 3 more years to my contract. While there buying my vehicle I had to ask them to wash my car.... Come on...
This dealer sells death traps! DONT BUY!!! Having had my car since 10/19, nothing buy major problems. I am afraid to drive. The store is aware of my tire issues, they suggested that I wreck my car to claim gap insurance... COME ON! Im convince they are trying to kill me!!!! SHUT THEM DOWN!!!!!
The customer service was great when I was in store but a few days later I noticed that a scraping sound in my front tires. I was told to contact the warranty company to find a place in order to get the car looked at. When I got an appointment I was told that there was a problem with both the front & back axles in which they we going to be covering but when I asked about just swapping out my vehicle for one that is reliable I was denied since it was over 5 days. But they state that they inspect the vehicle through a 113pt check and state inspection checking axles and etc. so how could it had passed either with problems with both axles.

My experience with the Mechanicsville store was absolutely horrifying. If I could give them zero stars I would. I made a 7:15pm appointment and arrived at 7:15 pm. I was not waited on until 8:15 and the manager Nelson rudely stated that my partner and I decided to walk in right when they’re closing. A store manager? I have no clue how he made it to that position. Him and another sales rep walk passed us for the entire time we were waiting with not as much as a “we’ll be with you as soon as possible”. He then tried to find every excuse not to service me. Came over to “give me bad news” with a smile on his face. I have never been treated so poorly! The only good experience I had at that location was from the sales Rep Colt who had an absolutely amazing personality. I wish I could have given him the sale. The next day I went to the Arch Road location and had an amazing experience and bought a 2016 VW Passat!

My mother and I just left from drive time. She was approved for 0 down payment. But told her she had to put 12,000 fine on a 22,000 car. I feel she was discriminated against because she is older. Who would put 12,000 on a car when you can buy a car for 12,000. The customer service rep was rude Micah ask why did she want a Benz. Feel like they just told us that cause they didn’t want us to get the car.

I bought a 2010 Chevy Silverado from this drivetime back in January. First, they sold me the truck with a flat tire which costed around $350 to fix. Second, when I bought the truck, Tracey forgot to give me my registration with it. Third, they put the wrong plates on my truck. I was pulled over the other night and the police officer said that my plates were registered to another vehicle. They refuse to help in any way.
I had a great experience with Dexter at Drive Time yesterday. Dexter is a great sales person very friendly and well mannered very presentable . I will all my friends and family to Drive Time when they are in need of an automobile.

I went with a friend they were attempting to give her a 29.percent interest rate a 9,000 vehicle, in the end she would have paid 27,000 for this vehicle, I told her to run! Total ripoffs,she went to a Dealership! Thats right in fredricksburg va and was giving a substantial better deal from a n actual dealership! And it wasnt no where near 29percent inteterest, stay away from this place! And any other one period!
My experience at drive time was swift and easy. They got me down to a reasonable down payment and a great monthly payment. The service was very good there was always someone who was there to assist in getting a car.
I would highly recommend choosing another dealership to purchase a vehicle. It’s not the sales experience at DriveTime, but when you drive the car off the lot. If you’re unlucky to get a bad vehicle DriveTime will not stand behind it and will look for any reason to deny fixing the vehicle. My grandmother and I purchased a 2015 VW Jetta with 40,000 miles. 2 weeks after driving it off the lot it broke down. Contacted Silver Rock(warranty company) who told me to bring it to their in network mechanic. The mechanic said it was the spark plugs at first, when that didn’t fix the problem he said it was the ignition coil, when that didn’t fix it he said the vehicle needs to be taken to the dealership because an engine from 2015 shouldn’t be giving these kinds of problems. I tell silver rock who insists to bring it to another of their in network shops who kept it for 4 days before saying it needed to go to the dealership since they were unable to find the issue. I paid $300 to the first shop, the 2nd shop felt bad and didn’t charge me. Finally got the car to a VW dealership who said the magnet in the engine was failing. $600 to fix, again silver rock denied the claim saying it was considered maintenance. After arguing with them and DriveTime. DriveTime decided to cover a portion of the cost. Fast forward 4 months and the engine stops working out of the blue. No check engine light, no loud noises. Just stops working. We contact silver rock and they say to bring it to Pep Boys. First they say the car isn’t working cause it doesn’t have gas even though it was towed there with half a tank, then they say it needs a new battery, then they say they don’t know what’s wrong with it. When I go to pay them I notice they left the windows down on the car. It rained for 2 days straight prior, the whole inside was soaked, puddles of water on the seats and floor. So not only did I have to pay $296 but now I have to get the inside taken care of. The car is towed again to the VW dealership. They check it over and determine the timing belt broke and the whole engine needs to be replaced. This is initially covered by silver rock, but they have to send out an inspector to verify the claim. He states that the engine does have to be replaced and it’s covered. When I contact the dealership to see when they’ll begin work I was told I needed to provide oil change receipts. I asked if oil had anything to do with the timing belt breaking and I was told it didn’t. That they weren’t sure why they were asking for oil change receipts. I contact silver rock who tells me they need oil change receipts otherwise they’ll deny the claim. I send them what I have and they say I’m off by one oil change and because of that they won’t honor the claim. They refused to look at the history of issues with the engine. I call the dealership today to find out how much I owe them for a diagnostic. They didn’t charge for a diagnostic but did say the inspector requested a tear down and that cost $426. I contact silver rock who says they won’t pay for it since I had to give them permission to do the tear down. I asked to speak to a supervisor who was able to look at this “inspector” who made no note of getting permission to do this tear down. I haven’t even had the car for 7 months and out of those 7 months the car spent 2 months in the shop getting repaired. The icing on the cake is the mysterious damage that happened to the vehicle. DriveTime claims all of their vehicles are inspected for at least 14 days before going on the lot, during this 14 day inspection they look for damage or anything wrong with the vehicle. This vehicle obviously wasn’t inspected because a couple days later after driving it off their lot I noticed what looked like repaired damage from an accident on the passenger side. The car looks like it was t-boned. Someone did a poor job painting it. I dunno how a professional who’s job it is to find these things not find this. DriveTime had no right selling this car and now we have to let the car get picked up because I don’t have $8,000 for a brand new engine.

Im updating my previous review. Please see that below. Once receiving the paperwork and payments we realize that we have been seriously done wrong. We were told it was a 29% interest rate and that it would be a $218 payment a month until 2026 I did the math and it seems okay and we signed paperwork digitally without reviewing it which now I know was a huge mistake. But lets be honest how many people actually look at the paperwork and read through it. Please do it for now on!!!!! After taking out $218 for a second time last month we looked at the paperwork to find out why and realized it was a bi-weekly payment and we noticed a finance charge on an $8,500 car is $17,654. How can anyone do this? I cried yesterday when I saw this. I did my young son a disservice by not following through when looking at every single detail. They have his total pay off as $33,000 for a car that cost 8500. Im going to try to attach pictures but dont want to compromise his personal information but if I can I definitely will. I checked with the business business bureau and saw we were not the only ones who have made such a complaint. So after thinking I was setting my son up with his first car through a great company I realize now that I have set my son up for failure and there is no way he can pay this or would pay 33000 for a car thats not even worth 9000. I strongly suggest you stay away from DriveTime and I also strongly suggest you get a printout of anything before you sign it and take the time to read through all the fine print that no one wants to do. We were provided a digital sign pad and was told what we were signing and we did not look at it out of excitement and trying to get out of there . When addressing the issue with the company we have been told that we had a 5-day return option and that we willingly signed the paperwork. I understand however I never thought that a company that appeared so nice and professional would be so dirty and deceitful. taking the time to post this review in the hopes that it saves someone else from this situation that we cannot get out of without filing bankruptcy. So upset with ourselved and equally upset with DriveTime.I took my 18 year old son to DriveTime in Mechanicsville to purchase his very first car. This experience can be a little intimidating and overwhelming for anyone much less a young adult. This location did a great job explaining everything to us, making us feel comfortable as well as had a great selection of cars. We interacted with one of salesperson our entire time there. His name is Charly. I cannot comment on anyone else since I did not interact with them. I highly recommend Charly. If going to DriveTime in Mechanicsville, please ask for him. You will not be disappointed! He cares about you and wants to find the best option for you. In our time with him, we got to know a little bit about him as a person. He is a great guy and I wish him much success. Now, whens the last time you could say that about a car salesman? I mean he did such a great job, that Im taking the time to post this review.

This place is great if you want to lay 22% interest. Check out the math at the bottom of this post. They will say that you HAVE TO put down a down payment. Yet, they will somehow find a way around that when you refuse. Dont give them ANY money until you sign the very last paper. If you do they will pull it from your account instantly. If you change your mind they will offer to void the charge. That sounds like youll get the money right back or maybe not charged, nope. They keep it for a week. As their manager says, thats he cost of doing business. It doesnt matter if your not doing business with them. They will want to add a $4700 plus fee for a drive train warranty. First you dont need it unless your car is more than ten years old, or more than 250k miles, second do you want to pay 22% interest on a warranty you wont use? If you absolutely feel you must have one, their $99 bucks on the Internet. The sales jerk Michael Williams that tried to take my daughter for all she is worth told her one number that suddenly changed when the cashier came over to sign paper work. By double. Dont try to find Michael to figure that out though, hes long gone by the time you see the cashier. Hes not man enough. Because what he will hide former you is the payments may be for X number of months, but youll make two payments a month. What does this mean? A 12k car will cost you $250 twice a month for 97 payments. The math on that is more than $21000 dollars for a $12000 dollar car. Without the added warranty. Add the warranty and your now paying nearly $30000 for a $12000 car. If your credit isnt great, there are dealers that will work with you. These guys will just rape you and laugh as you walk away. Thankfully, I didnt let my daughter get caught in their trap.

I purchased a car from this location in July of this year. Before coming all the way to this location (as I am much closer to the location in Prince George’s County, Maryland) I had a terrible experience at the PG Maryland location. The staff there were young males at the time (“Ant” being one of their nick names) who were more interested in flirting with the females who came in than selling a car. Once my mother showed up to help me, their attitudes changed completely. Very rude and impatient because my mom had knowledge on car sells and had questions. I was approved for everything, the only issue was the car that I wanted was at a different location (Mechanicsville, Va). I wanted that car specifically at that time and normally cars are able to be transferred between locations. However they wanted me to buy a car off of their lot and I was not interested. After seeing that I wasn’t interested in a different car, I was treated very poorly. I was also told they’d have to speak with the manager about transferring the car and that they would give me a call once they were able to. I then decided to drive to the Mechanicsville location myself to get the car, since it was such a big issue for the PG, Maryland location. Once I arrived to the Mechanicsville location I was able to speak with someone who was very helpful. I was showed the car that I wanted while I was at the other location. Unfortunately, when I saw this car in person I no longer wanted it. It looked nothing like the pictures. It had scratches, interior issues and dents that weren’t visible in the picture. I was then showed a few other cars and ended up liking one! I made a purchase that day for the car that I was shown and liked. During the paperwork process a lot of things were NOT mentioned. I live in the state of Maryland, which this staff was aware of. I was told part of my downpayment was to go towards my tags,title and registration. I was given paper tags for a month. When it was time to pick up my actual tags, I called the mva (like I was told to by dealer) and was told that I needed to contact the dealer because the necessary paperwork was never sent over. I contacted the dealership and explained to them the paper tags were expiring and it’s time for me to pick up my actual tags. The dealership tells me that my tags should be at the mva. The dealership then extended my paper tags for another month; but now I’m back in the SAME situation!?! It is now September, I bought my car in July! I’m being given the run around. No one knows where my tags are!? Ridiculous. I was told over 10 different stories by the staff at this Mechanicsville location as to what my down payment was actual for and where my tags are. Very unprofessional. Very rude for them to be the ones I JUST purchased a car from?! Disgusting. Get a car from eastern motors or anywhere, but here! They are only worried about getting rid of a car and the commission. Once you’re off their lot they treat you like you never even made a purchase to begin with. -20 stars if possible!
These people are a joke! I came in and was waited on by darnel and while I was there some girls came in and his attention was not on me whatsoever he was flirting with the females and another group of people showed up the he left me at the desk and went outside to talk to the other group about their trade in! Very unprofessional and on top of all that he lost my registration to my current vehicle now I have to go to the dmv and get another one these folks are trash don’t buy nothing from them unless you want a 500$ payment plan on a 10000$ car
I absolutely love doing business with Dexter Johnson from the mechanicsville location. He took his time, even stayed over just to make sure my purchase went by smoothly . I’ll definitely be back to purchase again!!!
