Absolutely loved working with Daniel! I had a rush order for some very large patches for promotional jackets I needed done within a week, and he got them to me with time to spare. Im a local Costume Designer based here in Richmond, Virginia. I originally reach out to Daniel (the owner) for a Christmas gift. But after visiting the store and looking at his amazing work. I realized, Daniel was the right person for this current project that I was working on. At the time, I was designing Fences by August Wilson at Virginia Repertory Theatre. I wanted to create the apron for the leading lady, Rose. After having a small meeting with Daniel, I learned that I can design the embroidery of the apron via Photoshop and Daniel would be able to create it. I believe that I dropped of the pockets of the apron on a Tuesday, and was able to receive the finished product by that following Monday. Either way, it was a quick turn around. He does amazing work! And Im definitely planning on working with him again!

I am not one to normally put reviews out there, but Daniel and Crewel & Unusual is uniquely outstanding in product and service. I went to Daniel at Crewel & Unusual with a rather complex idea. I had photographs taken of bird species from Madagascar and Borneo. I had these digitized and posterized by a graphic artist so they could be embroidered on a custom made bass guitar strap, built by an artist in New Mexico. So many variables to consider: material texture and thickness, hues, retaining diagnostic characters and details in the bird species via embroidery floss and stitch pattern choices, placement based on how the strap would be worn. In the end, Daniel, provided input on all these variables, thinking about and advising on each step in detail, and making tweaks to graphics and arrangement as needed. He embroidered multiple birds directly(!) onto one, one-of-a-kind hemp and canvas strap PERFECTLY, and not to mention on a tight timeline to have this ready for a retirement gathering. More than two months later and I am still hearing from folks as to how fantastic that strap is.
