This is one stop I thoroughly recommend if you are Richmond. Be warned though the place is huge, thought provoking and at the same time relaxing. There are many static and a few revolving exhibitions set in a beautiful building with equally beautiful gardens.

One the best art museums in the country. Free access. Enjoyable grounds. Good eats and drinks at cafe and Amuse restaurant. American and Faberge exhibits are highlights. Nice museum shop.

I was here more than 25 years ago. I enjoyed the update, even tho I only got thru half the museum in 1.5 hours. Check out the Faberge eggs, the Art Nouveau, the Dirty South, and much more.

Best museum that Ive ever been to (beats out DC, NYC, Chicago IMO)! Always bringing in major-market exhibits and only rarely displays replicas/reproductions.

We spent an hour wandering, so much great art. Wish we had more time but they had to close

It has amazing things in there. I got an eye bracelet and it is so beautiful.

Got a guided tour from an art teacher. Super nice place to hold weddings.

I underestimated the amount of stuff to see. Were going to have to come back and see the rest another day.The Egyptian exhibit was impressive and so much information to take in. The Fabergé display is excellent and an unexpected surprise.

Much interesting merchandise, and VMFA members receive at least a 10% discount on purchases they make here.

Staff just the best

Beautiful gift shop with some truly wonderful pieces of art. The staff are wonderful and helpful, and are there to help. There is an extensive selection of jewelry, books, home goods, and items for children. There are also pieces of art that are commissioned only for the museum gift shop. Many of the items are works of art themselves, and priced accordingly. The overall selection is both large and impressive!

We have a fabulous collection that spans everything from Modern Art to ancient Egyptian artifacts such as mummies. This is a state-of-the-art facility. Many of the exhibits have .multiple state-of-the-art videos and information systems to show you the most minute or hidden details of the artifacts.

Faberge eggs are the star!

Good selection of items for gifting. They have an interesting and full selection of books on faberge and Russian art in general which is rare.

This museum was a surprise. I didnt realize we had some of the masters paintings here in Richmond. The exhibit of the Terra Cotta Soldiers was incredible!
