I understand the liability issue, which just seems like an excuse to force people to get a licensed contractor to fix a simple issue, costing them far more than if they were to fix a simple issue themselves. It sure seems like a genuinely rigged system. When will suppliers like Johnstone get with the times and either offer a liability waiver to the public to purchase basic parts like a thermistor or capacitor? These parts are available to the public from online suppliers so why not compete? Its a win win for both parties. If nothing else, treat the public with some respect and give them a little information about the part and not just say we dont sell to the public try Sigler, which has the same exact arcane policy.
