Hi
Review №1

Have been here 2x now and the yard foreman is absolute trash. Both times hes yelled and screamed at me like a little child. Bad way to run a business. Aside from the promt service from the other workers, Ill never recommend this place due to one persons ignorance.

Great price but their Garden Soil is not typical garden soil. They claim its 50/50 topsoil/compost and 1/2 screened. What was delivered was more like 3/4-1 screened and after the soil dried it was VERY hard and cracking like clay. I recomend mixing in a yard of compost per yard of Garden Soil or maybe asking for a 25/75 mix. Safer bet to mix yourself w/ tiller.

I bought 44 yards of unscreened “compost garden soil” from Mother Earth (ME). I paid an outside transporter to deliver the load to my garden site less than 5 miles from ME. While waiting to fill our 24 each 4’ X 12” raised bed boxes, it rained for two days on the two piles. We noticed a hard crust form on top of both piles; but the “compost” pile remained bone dry. (Flag went up.) When the weather cleared, we began to fill the boxes with ME “composted garden soil”. Before we planted our vegetable seedlings, we watered the boxes to settle the soil. The “composted garden soil” did not soak up the water. It was hydrophobic! (Flag goes up again.) So while one person was watering, another was mixing the soil and water with a rake and it created a slurry. When enough water finally drained from the slurry, we planted over $300 worth of lettuce, kale, tomato and cruciferous seedlings in the raised bed boxes. The next day all the soil in the raised bed boxes was concrete hard! Three days later all the plants died. Our fall crop was gone.I drove to ME and explained the situation. Mike, the site superintendent, stated that was not possible with his compost. We jumped in his truck and he showed me a pile of base media that was used for the garden soil mix. Then we drove to the back of the property to look at the compost that was mixed with the base soil media. I commented the compost looked great. I told Mike our piles did not have any of the compost he just showed me, just the base of the media from the first pile. Mike stated that was not possible. After a lot of back and forth discussion, Mike asked if ME delivered the two loads. I said we had another transporter deliver the load. Mike said he was not responsible for the two loads delivered by outside transporter because the transporter could have switched the loads. I told Mike the transporter was a close family friend, who delivered the load at his cost. Mike insinuated that the transported may have dumped and switched the loads. I told Mike the loads that were delivered looked just like the base media pile he showed me without any compost. I told Mike the transporter called when he picked up the load so I could open the gate for delivery less than 10 minutes away. It would not be possible for the transporter to dump and switch the load in that 10 minute time frame. I asked Mike to drive down the road to my garden site to look at the piles delivered. He declined. I told Mike I would double check with my friend who transported the loads to make sure there was no misunderstanding of the transaction. Needless to say the transporter was furious of the insinuations by Mother Earth and me. I apologized to my friend and explained that I had to ask before proceeding with my remedial recommendations to ME.I contacted ME in person and by text to request that ME fix their mistake of not mixing compost with base media that hard paned because the base clay media had a high plasticity index with so much calcium carbonate that it turned to concrete! I have NOT received any response from ME to date. ME impressed on me they just wanted me to go away.As a result, I would not recommend area gardeners or members from the local farmer’s market community to deal with a company that does not stand behind their own local product and not make amends to fix their mistake. Bottom line, I am out $1100 without any recourse from Mother Earth.
