Who knew Northern Tool has bike racks for hitch!?! I traveled to Rochester with my kids bikes in my suv but ran out of space and sought out a hitch bike rack. Website said it was in stock in the store, and it was! Because I was traveling I had no tools so I wanted to know how difficult it was to assemble and Doc grabbed what I needed and told me exactly how many bolts it had, carried it to the front and I went to the hotel to install it!He was right, it was easy and I had the right tool and got my bikes loaded up in about 20 minutes.Thank you so much, my first Northern Tool purchase was a hit, my new favorite store!

The manager there lied to me and said I needed to have my packaging to return an item.I looked on the websites and his information was misleading.I asked him a simple question and he went into detail about what I needed then I said were using a different system I would just like to return this and pay the difference for the similar item - & he said “sorry we need the packaging so I can sell it to someone else.”Yeah okay, if you look at return policy for items, all you need is a receipt. Consumer rights, don’t forget about that, next time you go shopping somewhere.Just remember you have all the rights as a customer.I’ll just go to the greater & more abundant stores located around Rochester - such as Home Depot, Mernards, Lowe’s & Thomas Tool.

I usually go to northern tool when I get a new saw or need a spayer. Mick, I believe, is his name whom helps me usually and I have not had a bad experience in the store. That being said, I ordered a product that was online and not in the store, which turned out to be a mistake. We are closing in on 3 weeks since it was said to be delivered, so I called the store and it was just shipped TODAY... they said it may not get in til next week, which means I’ll have waited roughly a month and a half for a product I ordered online. This has nothing to do with the Rochester Northern Tool’s service, because like I said, I have never had a bad experience in the store. But this whole online experience has made me reconsider when purchasing something from northern tool that is not in the store. ***UPDATE, 8 days later they said the product was just shipped and it will be between 1-2 weeks before it arrives. This is officially the last product I will purchase from northern tool.

Ordered a heater online and soon after the order I got an email offering it for a better price and a gift card of over $50.00. I contacted the 800 number and was told that it could be there any day so he could not cancel it. He said to call the store which I did. They informed me that they could not adjust it to the new price offered. Once the first heater arrived to the store I had to call back to the 800 number, get a return authorization code, and have the store ship it back. Then order a new one online to get the sale price and start the process all over again.. What a waste of time and work on everyones part! Ordering a new one was not a big deal but what a pain for everyone involved. Corporate really needs to get it together and figure a better system as it certainly cant be cost effective doing it this way.

Do you price match? “Depends, where is it at?” Amazon. “Amazon?! Absolutely not!” Okay!! Thank you very much! I can wait two days to save $15 on the exact same tool. This is why this giant is killing local and even huge retail stores. I do support locally, but i also work hard for my money as well. Its a give and take effort.

Although the customer service is mediocre at best. They have some decent quality off brand tools. Also a wide selection of tools that I didnt even know existed for a good price. I summarize them as this. Theyre better quality than harbor freight but far cheaper than name brand. They do sell name brand tools also but very rarely do I see them as a good deal.

This place is a joke, even the store manager is rude and disrespectful. Been there for 26 years and doesn’t know that they’re supposed to service all makes and models. Service technician told me that fuel pressure on the burner does not need to be adjusted when replacing fuel pump and hung up on me. In the past they’ve refused to sell me universal parts because I wasn’t putting them on a North Star ( thermostat, igniter electrodes and even bulk insulation). Better off driving 30 minutes to O’Connor repair.

Horrible customer service!!!!!! Dont buy any warranty I purchased a generator 8 months ago purchased a $40 warranty. It breaks I go to exchange it and they no longer sell that model warranty says free exchange to same or most similar but they refuse to honor now I have to wait for corporate to mail me a check plus Im out the $50 warranty fee!!!!!

Friendly and helpful staff, decent prices on stuff you need for your shop or garage.The quality of items can be hit and miss at times, but generally its a good value for the $$$.The closeout, and bargain bins are usually a great place to browse for the best deals.

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with at a tool store... they dont warranty lifetime hand tools.I have been a mechanic for 14 years now and I have never had an issue getting tools warranted anywhere except northern tool. I got 2 hand ratchets warranted by fleet farm 10 years after purchase with no receipt, and no questions asked. I will never do business with northern tool ever again.

This Northern store is one of the better Ive been to, with helpful staff and most products in-stock.As far as Northern brand tools go (Klutch, etc), theyre decent quality and seem to hold up well, with most being backed up by a lifetime warranty. Youll pay a bit more than Harbor Freight, but the quality is much better. These arent up to the standard of the big-name manufacturers (Snap On, Matco, Mac, Cornwell), but with them youre only getting slightly better quality for WAY more money.

Has decent tools and equipment, but if buying online its the slowest shipping ever, I live 4 hours from the closest one and its been over 7 days since my purchase and still waiting for item to arrive, Ive ordered things from China and had them in 2 to 3 days, 7 days is rediculous, if you want or need something quick order from McMaster Carr or Amazon.
