Tv Really loud and was also focused on the show. I got burned several times as a result. I asked her to please put a few spiral curls in after she flat ironed my hair and she told me that she usually charge an extra$25. I was shocked when I didnt answer quick enough she rudely said you hear me it took her less than 5 minutes. honestly the end result was fine but customer service sucks cant recommend her.

I do not like posting negative reviews of small business, especially black owned businesses. And to help prove that I value the service industry I drove 2.5 hours for the service and still tipped on top of payment even though I was unhappy.I am relatively new to the area and needed a new stylist, so this was my first time meeting Vee. The experience was not good, and I will not be returning.I arrived 10 minutes early, and waited outside in the cold because she was late. All in the total time that I waited about 20 minutes for her to arrive.At the very end of the final confirmation email it states that hair must be detangled. There is no mention of this requirement on the website because if it was there, I wouldn’t have booked her. I believe detangling is part of the job of a stylist. But I did not see it which is my fault. Once inside she became visibly agitated that my hair wasn’t detangled.My issue is that while detangling my hair, she was extremely rough and raked the comb through my hair. There was no attempt to gently detangle it at all. Her frustration was clear in her body language, lack of conversation, and how she tossed the combs in the salon. I feel like an appropriate response from her should have been along the lines of “well next time you have to come detangled” or “now you know for your next appointment”. Not disrespect and attitude toward a customer that’s patronizing your business during a pandemic.During the service she made no attempts to have a conversation or to ask me about my normal hair care. She didn’t even speak to me until that last 20 minutes of the service.She clearly didn’t want me there and was careless with her work. So careless that she burned the top of my ear. I have pictures of you don’t believe me.Her work is good, but it’s not worth paying for the service or the effort to drive that far just to be treated like that.I did not read through the entire email, which once again is my fault, but as a service provider that doesn’t give you the ok to be rude and careless. I will not be returning to Vee and I do not recommend her services to anyone.**EDIT in response to owner:1. Example of service description that does not mention detangling. Also in the salon I showed you the confirmation email that did not have a statement about detangling.Also, if it was clearly made known that it wasn’t a requirement, then why did you tell me that I was supposed to come to the salon with it detangled? Why did you not charge me extra if that is your normal policy? It wasn’t made well known; that was just your expectation. There isn’t consistency with your polices in your descriptions or media contact with clients.2. I hired you for a service. It’s is your responsibility to set the tone and to create a welcoming environment, not the client.3. I’ve attached a picture of my “alleged” burn. By that point you’d made it clear with body language how you felt; there was nothing left for me to say to you.My review was an honest overall depiction of my experience. I gave you credit and kudos where warranted like the quality of your work, but the rest was lacking. The review was strictly for other prospective customers who might want a straightforward opinion, and not a dig at you. If that was what I wanted, I wouldn’t have even tipped you.

This was my first time bringing my daughter to a salon and it was a great experience! Her hair came out great and she was so excited to show everyone. Vee was very professional and made my daughter feel comfortable, we will absolutely be coming back again!

I have never written a review before, but after the amazing experiences I have had with Vee, I had to. I have been looking for a stylist that not only can do hair, but care for mine for years and I finally found her. She is amazing. She answers your questions about your hair and actually cares for your hair. She uses only natural products which my hair loves. I walked out my last appointment smiling from ear to ear because of how amazing my braids turned out. If your looking for a stylist, Vee is the best!! You will not be disappointed.

I’ve been going to Vee for almost 2 years. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. I got the crochet braids this time and loved them. She takes her time with her clients and gets to know them. Especially their likes and dislikes pertaining to their hair. The fact that I can book online is also a huge plus! She’s a talented hair stylist and I have never been disappointed with my hair or my daughter’s hair.

I met Vanessa a year ago after searching Rochester area for a hairdresser who could do relaxers. I relocated here to Rochester last year. I love that she is very knowledgeable and always keep up to date on the changing and increasing demands of hair condition and treatments. Since going to Hair Etc. by Vee I have seen such growth and just much more health in my hair. I like the ease of booking your hair care needs. Her website is very user friendly. She also does not over book, so she really gives you the attention you deserve. Vanessa is very professional and her shop makes you feel comfortable. On Friday I got extensions for my first time due to a bald spot, Vee covered it up and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my hair. She covered the bald spot I unfortuently ended up with and I can wear my hair down again. She takes time to discuss what’s best for her client. I trust her opinion and I’m looking forward to continuing to have her do my hair.

Vanessa is super cool and very skilled at her craft. I appreciate all the hard work she put in (10 hours) to making my locs crispy as hell. Ill be back in a month.

I am so happy with my hair! Vanessa is amazing, very knowledgeable and profesional. By far one of the most professional hair salon experiences Ive had to date. I love the way everything is explained clearly about both the procedures being performed and the pricing for each service. I love the versatility of booking an appointment by phone or mobile app.

My hair looks and feels great! Parking was a little challenging-no parking lot;only on street parking with time limits in some areas. The owner was late for the appointment-she did text me to inform me of that. The shop was not clean and in disarray (including the bathroom).The owner couldn’t tell me the cost for specific services and had to look it up on her own website to verify-which seemed strange and lacked professionalism. I was told I was getting a very specific coloring application and ultimately received a different one and was not aware of it until the end of the service. The final cost for services was more than what I was expecting to pay and it was not communicated to me accurately during my visit- I feel I was taken advantage of in that way. Ultimately each individual will have to decide what they care more about in the end.

Good quality service. Ms. Vee takes the time to listen to your hair issues and gives advice as well. She as well is willing to accommodate to your needs. I personally think Ms. Vee is very skilled at what she does. She knows what she is doing.

New in the area. Researched and found Vee based on all the great reviews. Had a service which was fabulous. Very talented stylist which I highly recommend.

Finally a professional black hair salon in Rochester. Reasonable rates, clean environment, parking professional and best of all this young lady can do some hair! Everyday I get compliments on my hair. I will never go anywhere else.

I used to go to VEE soooo many years ago and I actually began to go to her after that first experience everytime I needed my hair done. I am VERY picky with who touches my hair because I’ve had horrible experiences where the hair came out bumpy and or you could see the tracks etc and it’s hard to say... ummmm I don’t like how it came out and actually get it fixed... I had to leave two salons feeling un-Beyoncé’d I felt worse than a Michelle but with vee! Honey! I came out EVERY-TIME feeling like Beyoncé with my hair blowing in the wind! Ladies you know that feeling. I even brought my friend who was VERY tender headache and never got a weave so she complained a lot and VEE kept it professional and still did her thing and my friend actually LOVED how it came out ❤️❤️❤️ I’d recommend her as a stylist because she does it all and actually cares about the Hair under the weave!

I found my self a hairdresser in Rochester. I wont be going no where else. Everyone loved my crochet vee did no my hair. Now i getting mom a custom wig, i cant wait to see the finished product. Then back to her in August for my sew-in.

I relocated to Rochester area two years ago . I searched for a hairstylist . Once I found Hair Etc By Vee, I’ve been with her ever since. Since I’ve been with her my natural hair has improved . My hair was splitting and breaking and now it’s the healthliest it’s ever been . I have used the other services as well. I highly recommend Vee’s services.

Very reasonable with prices. And gentle with children . Her time management skills are respect by myself .I love how u can book online for any appointments.

I normally do not write reviews on institution; however, I simply cannot go without writing a review based on my own personal experience. I went to have my hair done at Hair ETC. by Vee because of all the wonderful reviews I saw on here. I also read Vees profile on her website and it seemed very good. I looked at her gallery and was very impressed by what I saw, so I decided to give this salon a shot. I live 2 hours from the salon, so I called to make an appointment. Another stylist answered and I Scheduled the appointment with her to have a sew in with a lace closure done. She gave me instructions on what make up to bring so the lace could match my skin color. She assured me that the entire process would only take 2 hours, and that my install would last me for 2months.... I got to the salon at 8am. I was getting my hair done because I was going out of town and was planning on being home by 12pm to pack and get ready. Child!! It took her 6 hours to do my hair! By 2pm I stated that I had to go even though my hair looked a hot mess!! The closure was behind my hairline and looked so bad. I expressed that I did not like it and that you could see the closure. The stylist responded with, Yeah, If you look real close. OMG I almost cried It looked so bad. She also stated that I should go home and use got to be glue and wrap my hair down. I said that I had plans and that I was supposed to be leaving town that I did not plan on doing anything to my hair when I left. I then proceeded to ask if something could be taken off my bill seeing as I now have to go home and try to fix my closure. She took off 60 for customization, but I still was not happy. I went to another local salon. The hairdresser there took pictures of my install and only then did I see the real damage that was done with the sew in underneath! She advised me to go back to the salon and get my money back so that she could then fix my sew in. After I called the salon, I got a hold of Vee, the owner. She assesses the situation and after a long conversation that included myself, her and the other stylist. She redid my hair. I did not leave until 7:30 at night! Entire day wasted. Entire trip ruined. I had to drive out of the way to meet the person in Albany because it would have been too much time to drive back home and then leave. I Did really like my hair, AFTER VEE did it; however, the entire ordeal was just too much. I am a full time college student and do not have time and money to just be wasting. I wasnt going to write a review, but after only two weeks, I am finding that I have to take this install out. The braids are so loose and almost unraveling and the closure is done! I personally think too much got to be glue was used on my closure when the first girl tried to get it to stay down and now it will not longer lay down right. I was told it would last me 2 months lmao barely lasted two weeks. So disappointing with this whole ordeal because now I have no money to get it re-done. I liked how vee did my hair, but there was not enough time for her to take the entire thing out and re-do it. If you go request vee. I have nothing against anyone else working there personally, but this experience was just too much for me to want to go back.
