I have been going there for decades. I used to go there back in the 80s with my dad to get bait and fishing license. Im going there on Monday to get a new license and some night crawlers with my wife for some fishing action at rock cu.

Bob is great. This shops been a fishing landmark in Rockford for decades. Reasonable prices, for a small shop. Plus, he often knows where the fish have been biting. Im glad hes still in business.

Bob is a really good guy. He knows a lot about fishing and fishing spots throughout Rockford and the surrounding areas. He’s got good prices, live bait, and good information. If you’ve got the time to drive out there to check his store out it’s a very cool place. He’s got everything you need to catch big fish or small fish. Since there are no local places like this anymore in Rockford he deserves a lot more recognition.

Got everything you need

I love visiting small bait shops, in small towns as I travel. Its an adventure when you can find baits that youve not seen before or locally produced baits that you dont have access to in large stores.I read the reviews about this place and almost didnt go because I simply didnt want to bump into the character described in the post/reviews. Especially being a man of color. Well let me tell you something folks. This place is like a museum for fishing lures and I could have spent the whole day searching through the tightly stocked, dusty, old and new lures. The old guy was crabby initially but once we started talking about fishing....it was all good. Im looking forward to putting the relics I found in the water! I am also excited to get back to Rockford to shop again. Have fun and enjoy life people. I also think it is good that I can only use cash....if I could shop with a credit card, I would have spent way too much :)

Always nice to me and helps me with any thing I asked.People saying hes rude is because he deals with a bunch of dumb ass people all the time and it gets old.And of course he thinks youre stealing he gets stolen from all the time.Over all hrs a great guy just making a living supplying your bait and tackle needs.If you dont like it go somewhere else its that simple.

The owner was VERY friendly and helpful! It might be a bit difficult to shop around because the store is jam packed, but if you want something specific and ask for it, Im SURE Bob will know where to find it 😁

Owner was grumpy and told me not to come to his store unless I was ready to buy something. He told me this the very first time I came before I even got a yard through the door. I didn’t even have a chance to see if there was something I wanted to purchase.A few months later my dad was looking for a specialty reel with a double drag. We stopped by and he just told us it was a gimmick and showed us a normal pole.I hate giving bad reviews, but what I wrote is what happened to me. These were the only two times I was there.
