Great location, 3 minutes off I-90. Staff was AWESOME! We had LOTS of questions, needed quite a few things before leaving for a photography program. Honest and helpful. David made sure we had exactly what we needed, and made sure everything we bought was compatible with our camera. It was very refreshing to be able to have someone so knowledgeable help guide us. Definitely recommend this camera shop.

This talented artist has certainly opened new doors for me by giving excellent photography examples and actual instructions on how to appropriately approach your subjects, to ask for permission to photograph them.Small, informal groups. I highly recommend you check out Camera Crafts classes offered......even if youre a cellphone camera user.

Recently rented a lens from Camera Craft, and accidentally left my tripod quick release plate attached to it when I returned it. The store called me to let me know I had left it on the lens, and mailed it back to me.Great customer service!

Was terribly disappointed with the service received when we visited Camera Craft earlier this week. Not only was the representative assisting us annoyed and less than willing to help with some comparison questions we had regarding a few lenses, she actually spoke in a very demeaning manner. Unfortunately due to her poor behavior, even though I would have loved to purchase the lens directly from a storefront, I decided there was no reason to reward poor behavior with a sale and took my business elsewhere. Definitely not the experience I would have hoped for generally as a human being, but also in a market where the locally owned businesses want and feel as though they deserve to get a sale simply because they are “local”. Luckily for consumers we can by that same equipment anywhere and get a similar if not better experience. Sadly we will not go back anytime in the near future.

If I could I would rate it higher.My father in law had an old picture that had been folded and had a whit line down the center and across over the faces of the people in the photo. I found out once I took it in the original I had had also melted to the glass in the frame.I live in Chicago but my grandma had used camera craft for restoration projects previously so I trusted them.What I got back exceeded all expectations. It was worth every penny AND the drive from the city.

TL;DR - First impression was great. I spoke to Tom who was kind, patient, and informative.--------------------I decided to stop in to see if there was an issue with my camera (it appeared to not function properly). Within 15 seconds of entering the store, Tom came by and asked what he could help me with. After describing the problem, he examined the camera and explained all I needed to do was make a simple adjustment. He showed me what the adjustment was, explained when to use it, and made sure I was happy with the solution.Afterwards, he informed me of the workshops that are available through the store (some free, some not), and answered any additional questions I had. Tom was kind, patient, and informative (the opposite of a pushy salesman). Im just starting to get into photography, and because of the customer service Tom provided, Camera Craft will be my first stop for my camera needs moving forward.Thanks again!

You cant get better than Camera Craft!! They set the bar in terms of products and customer service! I recently sent an email asking advice and the president Tom replied right away from home! He then forwarded my message onto David to assist me and check on inventory. David replied immediately and on Labor Day!! I was there yesterday and was assisted by Rebecca who was so friendly and helpful. I wasnt surprised at all but they continue to impress me. Even Tom (who was very busy) came over just to meet me. Camera Craft offers the BEST service hands down!! They offer a wide range of equipment, including very well priced used equipment, and go above and beyond in customer service! They make you feel so welcome and their knowledge cant be beat! I will remain a loyal and very thankful customer!!

A great camera store

I bought myself a Sony A6500 from Camera Craft about a month ago, and this review on how excellent Camera Crafts service was is long overdue. I was using multiple cards and cash to pay for the camera and even though one of my cards didnt go through and another one didnt go through immediately, Tom, the owner, helped me for over an hour in trying to resolve these issues. He eventually helped me get my stuff sorted out and the transaction went smoothly from there. Im very grateful Tom was willing to take such a big chunk out of his day in order to help me. Along with their excellent service, the staff is also very knowledgeable. I was looking for an adapter to adapt old film lenses to my A6500 and the staff member I talked to was able to find the adapter within 15 seconds. Said staff member also informed me about all of the possible quirks that come with using an adapter like the one I bought and it became clear the Camera Craft staff all have a lifetimes worth of knowledge about their products and cameras in general, more knowledge than I could ever hope to have. The store has a great selection of products and the staff is knowledgeable and courteous. Forget big-box stores that try to upsell you on junk, where the floor associates arent interested in helping you make an informed purchase appropriate to your personal needs. If youre ever looking for photography or videography equipment this is the only stop you need to make.I wasnt even disappointed that the owner is not, in fact, New England Patriots starting QB Tom Brady. Please note that this is not a fault of the store.

Camera Craft produced a DVD for us using old 8mm tapes, slides (some damaged), titles etc. Done in house so no fear of these important keepsakes getting lost. It came out perfectly and Camera Craft was very accommodating of our special requests.Given this, will do more to chronicle old family vacations, holiday get-togethers etc. for the future.

Probably the worst experience I’ve had ever visiting a camera store. I walked in (the store was empty) and was greeted by the staff which I appreciated. I stopped to look at their tripods and within a few seconds one of the employees step very closed to me and asked rather rudely “what are you looking for?” I said I was just there to browse (never been there before) and get an estimate on a lens. After I walked to the counter the clerk proceeded to looks at the lens but without my permission took the lens off the body and pressed the open body against his dirty shirt. The camera I have has a very short flange distance so it would not be surprising if his shirt made contact with the sensor. I was appalled that he would do that. After I got my camera back obviously I was low-balled on a brand new lens. I won’t be going back, probably ever.

Camera Craft folks are experts in many things. I had a very postive experience when tapping their knowledge about submitting image files from scanned negatives. Tom told me what resolution to scan my negatives, reviewed the scans for imperfections and expertly handled the production of the prints. Camera Craft was crucial to Rock Valley College receiving high quality, enlarged prints in a timely manner for a commemorative event.

Although I didn’t make a purchase today. I was extremely happy with the customer service. Very friendly clean and knowledgeable on their products.

Visited here yesterday afternoon, coming up from Crystal Lake (about a 50 minute drive) to purchase a Canon EOS 80D, after weighing my options from a phone call I had with Tom in regards to upgrading from my old Canon 60D. I am a novice to DSLR cameras and I was having a problem with my Canon Rebel producing blurry photos. I went online looking for places in my area who probably could fix my problem. I contacted Camera Craft and a man named Tom Brady, emailed me right back. He asked me to send him a photo taken before the problem and after the problem started. I did that and he got back to me with an easy solution that I could do without having to drive a distance and bring in my camera. I will put Camera Craft in Rockford on the top of my list for my camera needs and I also will recommend this business to others.
