Unfortunately, I was not able to write about my experience with RA in my last review so I decided to put some time into it because they did that for me.I used their service to book kayaking class for my wife. She was hesitant but I wanted her to get feel kayaking. I called RA and threw all my questions and the questions that couldn’t be answered Dave called me back later in the day clarified everything. He did more than I expected out him.On the day of kayaking classes, I was surprised my wife did not want to leave the group. She kept chatting and planing for her next kayaking trip. What I gathered from her later was she is was in total awe with instructors knowledge and the whole process of training.I am so glad she wants to continue kayaking. A huge thank you to folks at RA who made this happen.

These guys are the best, I purchased two kayaks from them and they helped with everything. Travis, the sales dude, especially helped and was really knowledgeable and taught me a bunch of stuff before I left. Couldnt have asked for a better experience, they even had a dog there, he was awesome as well.

I was in the hunt for a touring kayak and Rocktown had the one in stock I was looking for. Drove down from the Madison area and the team at Rocktown was fantastic. Nice shop and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.

Great local Kayak Store.Travis was very helpful in giving us the information to choose the best kayaks for our needs. They had the kayaks in stock when others didnt have them in stock. We went with the PDL kayaks and Travis was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process! They will take good care of you!

Jake and Sam were very accommodating for our kayak trip down the Fox River. We were given adequate info on what to expect, and places to check out along the river. They have a showroom of new kayaks, canoes, etc., for you to get an idea what boat youd like to use, then they provide you with that same kayak except its used, of course. Jake was very helpful with what kayak would suit us best. My son and I planned on fishing so we chose fishing kayaks. This was the first time Ive fishing out of a kayak and it was great! If youre looking for a fun, relaxing day on the Fox river or need to demo a kayak before buying, then Rocktown has everything you need.

Great shopping experience again. Bought new cross country skis last year and snowshoes this year. Friendly, helpful but not pushy. Always ready to give info or answer questions. Easy location to get to and a nice shop inside

Im so happy! Six of us went down a stretch of the Kish tonight with the guides, Jamie and Beka from the Rockford location, who were very knowledge and encouraging when I expressed my nervousness. They were friendly and I felt very safe. We had life jackets, crash course tutorial, and assistance getting in/out of water. I will be dropping by their workplace to give them a tip, Im that impressed. Will be using their services again.

First experience kayaking today. It was very scary from falling off my kayak multiple times to losing my phone in the river to getting caught in a tree branch which led me to be delayed in my time of the kayak rental. I called them to notify them that I would be late. When we reached them end Kevin was really rude and dismissive stating we were late to get off the kayakAnd that he has to go. He grabbed the kayak and threw my stuff off the kayak. I felt disrespected and so distraught. I will never book a kayak with them again.

This place is very cool! I would call it great competition for REI. They have a great selection of kayaks and quality outdoor wear. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I bought cross country skis from this store and had great customer service. Very helpful in determining which ski would be best for my purposes plus had an impromptu lesson from an employee on skiing technique . Will definitely visit this store again!

Been there once now and will definitely be back. The sales guy was SUPER helpful in getting us more in touch with how to use our kayaks. They have a great sounding reasonably priced transport service so we can go downstream and not have cars at both ends. Definitely will return.

If you’re going to buy a kayak, buy it from here. Sometimes you can get a great deal off a demo. Jacob is super knowledgeable on kayaks. Don’t miss out on this place!!!

Great place with great staff. Kevin is a good guy and very friendly. A big variety of products for a small shop but amazing product lines too. Good quality a stuff that Kevin uses himself. Like the fact he can speak for his products and their capabilities.

Everything you need for paddling sports, even car racks! Also a pretty decent selection of apparel and other outdoor gear, just kind of small since they mostly have boating stuff. Informative and friendly staff.

This was my first time visiting. I just had lunch and a couple of beers. I was impressed with the quality and selection of the beers. My food was hot and tasty. The building itself was interesting as well. I will be back!!

It has a decent selection for a small business. The prices are in line with what you would pay at REI. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are a little more focused on kayaking and lifestyle and a little light on hiking and camping.

The place doesnt have that many kayaks in show room, but the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to work with customer ( even when they are extremely sarcastic like my self ) my only regret was not charging my camera and have one of their guys explain the difference between two or three kayaks . Customer satisfaction is real important to me and this guys are add to my list of repeat business which only includes, two companies Abu and now rocktown kayaks

As a first-time kayaker and learner I was very impressed by the friendliness of everyone at the shop. Especially grateful to Colin for his knowledge, encouragement and patience as he taught me kayaking basics. Planning another lesson soon to prepare me for a kayaking trip with experienced friends.This place is a gem on the Fox!

This place is awesome. Right now, they dont have much going on with it being wintery and no snow. However, they have lots planned, great service, and lots of cool stuff. I look forward to returning often.

Rented a kayak and paddleboard. They gave us a quick lesson, dropped the gear off right next to the river. Very friendly, very reasonable price as well. Definitely recommend to all.

A little too high end / pricey for me. $45 for a multicam boonie hat when I can get a us military issue (new) for half the price just across town... Ill save myself $20 bucks and use it for something else. They have mainly high end/ boutique outdoor shop kind of stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but I unfortunately dont fit into their target demographic. Kayak stuff selection is good. But, I dont plan on spending $1500-$3000 any time soon. My $800 kayak floats just fine.

Havent bought my yak yet, but this is 110% w/o a doubt the place I will buy it from. You would think that with all of the water around the Chicagoland area, there would be more paddle shops, but that just isnt the case. If you are looking at kayak angling, dont hit up the big box stores as they usually dont have what you need let alone what you might be interested in. I was told from Chad Hoover that when purchasing an angling kayak, try and make your first yak the 2nd you would end up purchasing. They carry only the best (Wilderness Systems, NuCanoe, Jackson, Native...). Oh, and even though they are this awesome merchandise wise, their employees are just as awesome. Insanely helpful and instructional. Learned a lot from Jake in the hour or so I spent there. YouTube videos & reviews are great, but you wont totally get it until you are up close & personal, and no better place to do it at.

It was my first time kayaking and Jake the instructor was very helpful and patient. I would definetly go back.
