Well, I used to come in here to buy guitars and accessories a lot. It used to be a whole lot better than what it is now. The last three times I came in I got no service. When I asked numerous employees why the strings I usually get there they no longer sell, all I got was I dont know. Nobody knows nothing. Service in here has gone down considerably in the last few years. Especially since they have gone down to a smaller store. Used to be they had way more product to sell and way more customer service. I still go in once in a blue moon, but no where near how I used to. Too bad. They used to be tops. Rockford, in my mind, really has no great guitar shop.

I called Guitar Center to see if they had what i needed for my yard haunt and at first he said they didnt have it then luis checked the inventory and shure enough they had two very awesome its going to work just fine!

I had been in a few days ago to purchase a Soprano ukulele. As soon as I entered the store I was greeted by many associates and asked if I needed assistance. I unfortunately forget the name of the person who helped me. Since Ive had experience in retail, I understand how stressful it can be to upsell but he did so gracefully and had me out of the store with the things I needed to get started with my new instrument. Plus involvement with the loyalty program! Very caring customer service. :) The employees here deserve the best!

If I could leave no stars I would, I ordered a E-Drum kit yesterday online THAT WAS IN STOCK, Guitar Center processed my payment with zero updates at all. My order was supposed to be ready by 3 OCLOCK yesterday. I called the store when I hadnt heard any updates to inform them I would not be able to pick up until the following day. The gentleman on the phone said that was fine. Today I borrowed a truck to go pick up my kit. When I arrived I called the store to inform them I was parked in curbside(just like I ordered seeing as the kit was IN STOCK). They amazing could not find my order with my name so I gave them the order number. To my surprise, once they found the order I was informed it would be three to five days for my order(please remember I got ZERO UPDATES via email about it and I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM GUITAR CENTER AGAIN!!! The Lack of communication on Guitar Centers part was extremely unprofessional. Now I understand why so many people absolutely despise this company! I am contacting customer service to cancel my order.

Great chill place. Ive always found the staff to be supportive. Helpful when asked. But theyll also just let you wonder about the store looking at things. Decided to learn guitar about a year ago. Been taking lessons here as well. You can follow the script in the lesson books, or explore on your own pace and interests.

I have a great experience any time I come to Guitar Centers Rockford location! There is an elderly gentleman named Douglas who was fantastic while at the check out! Great place filled with great staff!

This will be my second review on guitar center. But theres a very good reason why :-) I started taking lessons there about a month ago and I was very unsure of how it was going to turn out ..I worked with Griffin..first time simply to pick up a new hobby :-) my time with Griffin was short but then I was introduced to Mark who is my current teacher.. he is very supportive and very encouraging and I need that considering I am 44 years old just taking guitar lessons for the first time just to pick up a hobby. Where I thought at first it might be a mistake ..after working with Mark I think its probably going to be one of the funnest things Ive ever done. Whereas some people I have talked to say that their lessons are expensive.. that may very well be true.. but the support and knowledge that comes from this building is amazing :-) .. you truly do get what you pay for :-)I am all for keeping my business and money in my own neighborhood :-) but I believe even if I didnt live 2 minutes away I would drive across town and pay their prices just simply for the service support and knowledge that I am receiving here. I would recommend these guys to anyone for any type of instrument you may play. Very welcoming environment just a really nice cool set of guys :-) stop over and visit them you definitely wont regret it :-)

The sales people will greet you at the door and someone will ask if you need help. I went shopping for an acoustic guitar. The inventory was low. No mid range price guitars were available. The high end priced guitars were locked. So for me didnt have what I was looking for. I did buy a pack of strings and picks.

Bought a Keyboard there. Saw the same one online but want to know more info on the product before buying. Employees were easy to talk to and were knowledgeable with any concerns I had.

I went to go get some reeds for my tenor saxophone, and they helped me very well, and even were willing to give me some tips on the tenor because Im a beginner. They knew what they were talking about, and and the equipment was a reasonable price. I totally recommend this Guitar Center!

My tics were kinda outrageous the day I went and the employees treated me like a normal person and didnt stare. The guy who helped us( i cant remember his name sadly) was super helpful and gave us some great drumstick recommendations.

Aweful experience the past few trips. This last time was worse of all. No one welcomed me, or responded when i said hello. Looked around a bit and no one offered assistance. Tried to buy guitar strings, 2 assosiates were behind counter and not one person offered to help me on checkout. Was about to out stuff back and leave when guy came out of back and finally helped me. Guess ill shop online on other websites as nowhere else is close...that i can find... But i guarantee you, this will be the last time i go to this guitar center.

Also very kind in correcting me on what I was looking for (was looking for audio compressor thought a pedal would be good but informed me on a better option for next time). Not to mention a 3 year warranty was pretty cheap

When I arrived and gave the doorman my name, I was met with, theres nothing under your name and no additional effort was volunteered to find my pickup. My (prepaid) item was found after insisting it should be ready and producing additional paperwork from the other store.

Weve been to this location several times, as my 13 year old loves to just wander and play with the instruments. However, we just went there yesterday so he could buy his first ever brand new guitar. The service that we received was amazing. The employee that helped us, Doug, tuned the guitar and polished it and made sure that it was in perfect shape to bring home. Better service than you normally get at stores anymore.

So, my kid decided to sign up for guitar classes at school so off we went to find the cheapest guitar I could find because I have no idea if this is something hes gonna stick with. I went in, let them know what was going on and I couldnt be happier with the service we received. While he did show us the cheapest option they had, he also explained why it might not be the best choice. He showed us the next one up and explained why it was a better choice. Not once did I feel pressured into buying something more expensive than we felt comfortable with spending. Even though I obviously had no idea what I was looking at buying, when I asked about some cheaper ones, he made sure to point out that they were damaged and how, instead of taking advantage of someone who wouldnt have known any better.He understood our reasoning, was very VERY patient with me, and took time to help us find what we needed within the amount we were willing to spend. If this guitar thing sticks with my kid, I will not hesitate to come back here and invest more money in even better equipment.

I love this store but when I went for guitar strings yesterday, I asked if the guy knew about guitars and idk why but the dude seemed like he had an attitude after that.. Im a really lighthearted and funny guy so I was confused. Maybe he was having a bad day.

Guitars are kind of like engagement rings. They cost way more than theyre worth when you buy them brand new. Guitar Center has a massive selection of things you can overpay for. Also, their guitar tech, Nick, is very skilled at his craft. I highly recommend him for setups and repairs.

We went here to look at guitars for my daughter. We were immediately greeted and shown to the area we needed. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The employees here seemed to be legitimate musicians, which is not always the case in Guitar Centers. Real know how is easy to spot if you know what youre about, and having a few people in store who were actively helpful was refreshing and welcome. Ive been to this location twice now, and have been pleased each time.

I bought a used guitar online through this guitar center it arrived with heavy damage and i had to return it to my local guitar center and get a refund. A shame really because it is rare and now it is going to become fancy fire wood as it is in unsellable condition. Please take great care when packing and shipping used guitars in the future !

Amazing place to be!!!!I highly recommend this music store above all else. The workers are very friendly and are always very helpful. I am only twelve and hey are always willing to pull any guitar off the wall and they always have the best recommendation about guitars, basses, amps, peddles, and even recording equipment. Weather you want to stay in a more affordable range or spend everything in your wallet this store is like a second Disney to me. There is no shortage of gear and unlike most music stores you are 100% free to try any guitar, bass, amp, peddle, drum set or mixer you want. If you need anything to do with music this is the place to go!!!

Very informative and helpful especially to beginners. Had no idea where to begin when I walked in there and left feeling better knowing I could ask people for help.

The selection of instruments is extensive. The service was a little sketchy. I was in the store to get a guitar strap and picks. After about five minutes of looking at the guitars someone yelled from across the counter you need any help?. It startled me and since I was not there to purchase a guitar, I declined. I got my things and as I was waiting in line to pay someone was trying to purchase a guitar. The employee spoke with them and told them he didnt have the time to help them. He stood up and leaned against the counter looking around. After about a minute another employee walked up and he was directed to help them with the purchase. It was my turn and the first employee rang me up and was polite and friendly and quick. He thanked me for my purchase. I was on my way. Confusing service but an overall good experience on my end.

The store manager Luis is very nice and knowledge about all the instruments. Very helpful. So is the rest of the staff. Its a very welcoming environment here.

As soon as I went in, a sales guy was very quick to ask me if I needed help finding something. I told him what guitar I was looking at, and he brought me right to it. He demonstrated for me how similar ones sounded, and was super helpful in everything. After coming from the back room with a new in box guitar, he inspected it for cracks, breaks, dents, and then he made sure it was all tuned up for me! Super awesome place to buy a guitar, friendly workers, that are very informative about the instruments, and willing to answer questions! I will be back!

I had called into the store inquiring about a used acoustic guitar I had my eye on. I spoke with Doug at this store and he went well above and beyond in addressing everything. He had the fret board oiled, a new set of strings put on, and put a new battery in the pre-amp. When I came into the store it was completely set up, brand new strings, tuned and ready to be tested out. A+ in customer service for Doug, even if I didnt buy that guitar (although I did) I would have felt obligated to at least buy something just for the trouble. While Doug wasnt there when I finally arrived at the store, he had set it all up so that it was minimally invasive for me to bug someone else when I came in.

I brought in a guitar a few months ago because of some fret buzz in 2 different spots, I paid 50 bucks to let their so called expert to take care of it. After a week I finally got it back with fret buzz all down the neck everywhere. I got mad and unscrewed the neck off myself and found a piece of sand paper stuck in there, after that it played great. Their expert isnt very experienced Id presume, a waste of 50 dollars, never supporting them again. Doug is the best guy there, just saying

My complaint is my guitar had string buzzing, so I took it to the guitar tech for a full setup. I specifically told him about the buzzing and he seemed to barely take notice and seemed kinda busy and flustered with other stuff. Two days later I come pick it up and he forgets who I am and which guitar was mine. I wasnt offended but he should remember who his customers are and their instruments.I pick up the guitar and immediately notice the buzzing was still there, he didnt fix anything. I just reluctantly paid the $50. I didnt say anything because I needed the guitar that night and didnt want to wait another two days for him to literally do nothing, although I probably shouldve spoken up anyways, thats on me. The buzzing wasnt a huge deal but it was noticeable and annoying if you played the guitar, it seemed like he forgot what I told him, just picked up the guitar and changed the strings, then moved on to the next guitar.Overall a poor job. He was very friendly though as the whole staff usually is. Id rate this store higher for that, but that experience is what warrants the two stars for me. Maybe some of you had a better experience with getting a setup, but for me the tech was forgetful and did a poor job.

Purchased several guitars there. Doug is very knowledgeable. The guitar tech is a genius. Low pressure atmosphere. Wish they had more Gibsons and Fenders and fewer ephiphones and squires.

This place should change their name to musical instrument center! They have drums, keyboards, lighting, DJ equipment, lessons, etc!
