Retail customers need to be certain of their purchase: Gerry Smith Office Products does not allow returns or exchanges, even for chairs and stools intended to address back issues. Instead, Gerry Smith allows you to try out their desk chairs on the floor. The item we purchased, an adjustable desk stool, was not even on the floor and we needed to order and pay for it first, then wait for it to come in and be assembled before trying it out. This rigid no returns/exchanges policy can be a problem for customers seeking chairs that dont exacerbate their back problems. Conditions in the store cannot replicate those at home. Other retail office furniture companies that cater to customers with back problems provide for exchanges or returns within a set period of time after purchase. Unfortunately, Gerry Smith did not inform us of their no returns/exchanges policy until we had used the item we had purchased at home and found it unsatisfactory.
