I own a classic car restoration business and took a car I was working on in to them for a new transmission. They rebuilt it but it doesnt shift right and blew fluid all over the road first time on the highway. They refuse to fix it and say it is running normal. I will NEVER use these guys for anything again.

So the people are nice and Sparky is the one I dealt with the most, he was always nice. The shop worked with me a lot to keep the price down as a struggling mom. I went in a slipping transmission and they replaced my computer, had to program it, a solenoid assembly, 10 hours of repair time. They had my vehicle for about a month. Car was great after the second time I picked it up after a sensor they thought was the issue ended up not being it, but was about a week later and my car started slipping once again. It DID stop after a few days though so I didn’t take it back. It’s been about two weeks now and my transmission is back to slipping every time I press the gas. Also is taking a car a very long time to accelerate. Sparky told me my car was very tricky and in the 50+ years he’s been working on cars he was very stumped on mine. I’m hoping my car can keep going and not leave me stranded until I can afford it and take it somewhere to be fixed.

Could not fix the transmission had the truck for over 33 days cost me $2500. Transmission pan bolts were loose and the solenoid pack bolts were in the bottom of the pan. Very disappointing.

I took my jeep to this transmission shop, on March 1, 2021 to have my transmission evaluated because the check engine light came on, showing gear one, incorrect ratio. Sparky told me he would scan the transmission and there would be no charge, I informed him that I had car shield auto Warranty. He then said he would notify them. They came (the car shield adjuster) came on March 4, 2021 and he evaluated the transmission and said he would get back with us in 48 hours. On March 8, 2021, the adjuster notified me that the car shield policy had been cancelled due to modification to the jeep. When I heard that, I called sparky, and told him that I needed to come pick up my jeep which was on the 8th. Sparky told me that I could not pick up my jeep until that Friday which was March 12, due to the fact that he pulled my transmission out of the jeep and that he had a tech out and said that he was not sure when I could pick it up. On Tuesday on March 13th, I showed up at his shop, and I spoke with the tech, and the tech said that the transmission was never pulled out of my jeep. Then sparky told me that I had to pay $516 in order take my jeep which included conversations with car shield and he drained my transmission fluid without my permission OR car shields permission. When I pick up my jeep on Wednesday, on the receipt, he wrote; it was not electrical, that I needed a new transmission because it had a bad lubricated internal part I had to pay the money to get my jeep out. I took my jeep to another transmission shop, and found out that it was electrical and NOT an internal part. So Sparky lied to me, and was going to charge me $3,400 for a transmission that I did NOT need. All I had to replace was the cylonoids which was electrical. Now my jeep runs great. Beware of taking your jeep to this transmission shop. He misdiagnosed my jeep trying to get more money out of me for something that didnt need to be done!

Do yourself a favor and save your money and your time. There are much more valuable options out there based on what I experienced here.My transmission still doesnt function correctly. I spent almost two years trying to get my Volkswagen Jettas transmission fully replaced here. I paid upon pick up after about 6 months. Yes, 6 months. For the past almost year and a half, it has been dropped off and picked up probably 4 to 5 different times, after the initial 6 months. It sat up there for almost 4 months at one point. The only updates I get or ever got, is if I drove up there myself, or called directly. The shop may have reached out one time on their own over this entire process. I spoke to Sparky probably a month to 6 weeks ago, as I was still trying to get this rectified. I even took the option of selling the car itself to him or another business partner to just break even and get my money back, as it still does not operate correctly and cannot drive it. He promised to call me back, which I heard countless times throughout the span of this process.Not shockingly, I havent heard anything back in those 6 weeks. I paid way too much money, have a car that doesnt run, and a shop that cannot give me the common courtesy of a phone call. I am currently seeing what legal action I can take at this point.

Short version: Everyone hates taking vehicles in for repairs. You never know what youre going to get. But after trying Lonestar (and dealing with Mr. Sparky)... I have found my new trans shop for sure. Per above, I gave them 5-stars.Longer version: I took my F-150 to the Ford dealership, and told them the transmission pan was dripping. They looked and said yep, and you have a leaking electrical connector as well... thatll be $1,800.00. That price seemed completely crazy to me so I checked reviews and found Lonestar Transmission. I told them what was up and they said yep, happens all the time on the F-150s. Well fix it all for $480.00. I picked up the truck from Ford and drove it directly Lonestar. The next day they called me and and it was ready to be picked up. I was thrilled. Also, Im not much of a people person, so when someone says something like talk to Sparky, hes great, that doesnt appeal to me. That being said, Sparky really was a super nice dude, and did make me feel like we were old friends after about 30 seconds of talking. Oddly enough, I now join the group that says go talk to Sparky haha. Anyway, they saved me a ton of money, and I am a very happy customer. Definitely worth taking the time to write the review.

The owner of Lonestar Transmissions is truly one-of-a-kind! He has gone the extra mile for so many people. if you want a good honest company that does impeccable work in a timely matter then you cant find a better company!

They did a transmission repair in Jan 2018 in our Chevy truck. This had to be redone in Nov 2019 which they said was not covered by warranty. May 2020 the second transmission went out and they refuse to honor warranty on work done in Nov 2019 stating they go by the first service date in 2018 even though its the second trans they put in.On initial contact Sparky (the owner I believe) lied to me when I asked about him working with another company this trans job was contracted through. After that company got ahold of him he never returned my calls as promised.Horrible customer service. Non existent work ethic. Unbelievably rotten repair work if you can call it that. I would never recommend and would have given zero star rating if possible. This place should be investigated. Especially since they were unwilling to go over the paperwork with me or provide me a copy of this supposed paperwork.

No one really wants to go to a car repair facility but when you have to it’s great to know somewhere that honesty still matters.I just moved to Texas about 1 month ago and didn’t know anywhere to have my car repaired. I googled repair shops in Rockwall and LoneStar came up. Not only did John get me right in he suggested away from expensive repair explaining I’d be fine with just an adjustment. He had every opportunity to swing for the fence but elected to just fix the problem and send me on my way. Although I’m not really looking forward to going back for obvious reasons it’s great to have someone like Lonestar that you can trust. I highly recommend LoneStar.

Lonestar transmission really took care of me!I was referenced by a friend to give them a call for some pricing. I was in a very bad situation with my 2015 Silverado it wouldnt even drive! Gave sparky a call, gave him a little background on my problem. I towed it there ALL THE WAY FROM WAXAHACHIE thats how high my reference spoke about sparky! calls me the next day and was very honest with me but with horrible news that Im going to need a new transmission! Sparky assured me that the transmission they were going to install was going to be great and would run like new! The price for me was a huge investment but one that needed to be done. Sparky was understanding when I told him was going to need another week to acquire the funds. needless to say 500 miles LATER I FEEL AS IF I HAD MORE POWER THEN BEFORE!! Sparky was very honest and took great care of me and got my truck back to me in a great timely manner! it was a well worth investment for me! will do business here again!

Merely maintenance for me today. Complete transmission service and full flush. I do a lot of commuting every week, and I knew it was about time to get my transmission serviced. I looked around at a few different places before my dad recommended Lonestar. He said they were the best, most honest guys hed ever dealt with. Truth! Ill never go anywhere else. With so many mechanics out there ready to scam you out of a quick buck (or a few thousand), this whole crew is here to actually help you. As a commuting college student, the unfortunate truth is that my wallet and my car can make or break me. Today, Lonestar kept both in great condition. I cant thank you guys enough! Honest guys! Toyota wanted over $4000 to fix my transmission after running a full diagnostic. I appreciate their honesty. So refreshing. Lonestar was a third of that and it works great!.

We have used Lonestar Transmissions for repairs for many years and have always been happy with the results. They always fix what needs to be fixed and dont try to get us to do more than needs to be done. The repairs were done right and stayed fixed. But for any adjustments that needed to be made they were more than happy to make them.

They diagnosed the problem quickly. Replaced both front wheel hub bearings and serviced the transmission with new filter and fluid. They did a great jobs and had vehicle ready late the same day. The owner was very friendly and explained every thing clearly.FANTASTIC JOB

Had a dad-gum piece of highway trash collide with the under carriage of my truck...kept running for another 200 miles until I could get to Lonestar and have them take a look at it...it a Chevy truck and the Chevrolet dealership is who put me on to Lonestar to custom fix the catalytic converter and shaft. Lonestar did it cheaper and faster than any other place....been close to 6 months and no problems...I sure didnt know Lonestar Transmissions could do more than transmissions!

I had one day off work to get flyers out around Rockwall for our fundraiser to help pay for my nieces heart transplant. My car started having emission issues so it also ended up being the only day I could get a repair before my inspection ran out. The staff was super helpful and rushed getting my car done. This is the 2nd time Ive come to Sparky and his great crew. First time was my 1994 k1500 for a clutch job and some other things, and I never had a single issue with the truck after that. 2nd time around for my now 1984 k10 pick up, which I plan on restoring. We dealt directly with the owner, Sparky. He patiently answered all of our questions about why we needed to replace our transmission on our toyota minivan. The price was fair and the warranty was exceptional. After the work was performed he personally took the time to test drive our van and didnt return it until he felt that it was done properly. Even when we brought it back with a concern, he looked at it and stood behind his work by correcting the minor issue. We would use Sparky again (though we of course hope to never need to again) and we would recommend his place to others.

I got the dreaded transmission failure indicator on my 2007 Ford F-150 4x4. I was able to drive into Lonestar Transmissions and left it there to be looked at. I went home and went online to see what worst case scenario would be to have my transmission replaced. After some research, I was expecting to hear $2,000. The next day I received a call and after running the error codes it was determined I had a bad solenoid or solenoids and for $368, Sparky and Jeff replaced the solenoids, flushed the transmission, and did a complete transmission service. Ive driven the truck another 1000 miles since with no problems. I could have been taken if they wanted to and I could be the proud owner of a new transmission ... but Lonestar was extremely ethical and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Sparky and Jeff.

Well I cant say I loved having my transmission fail on my GMC acadia (junk) but the service here was excellent. Honest and fair. Cheaper than the dealer with a better fix and an explanation as to what, why, and how much. Hope to never go back.......but if I do need a transmission Ill go here.

Paid over 3k for a tranny rebuild and i broke down 2 weeks later. Had to pay over $700.00 to tow back to Rockwall. When I picked it up one of the techs told me the pump had not been replaced during the rebuild (which should have been) so they had to replace it on the second go around. The engine was running real rough leading be to think it needed a tune up. When I checked it out, an injector plug was loose. Those dont come loose on their own and it was not like that when I dropped it off.
