I am a very pleased first-time customer of Master Transmission. They identified and fixed a critical drivetrain issue in a very timely manner - when the car dealer told me they could not even get me an appointment for at least one week. Ive had 3 transmissions rebuilt by Master transmission. My Mothers 2004 Chrysler Voyager, my bosses 91 Buick Road Master, and most recently my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. The pricing is very fair, their warranties are better than their competitors, and the quality of their work is exceptional. Repairs are done right the first time. If I cant diagnose an issue or fix it myself, I bring it to Master Transmission exclusively. The best automotive service center in the Twin Cities.

Called to get a quote for a new clutch to be installed in my little 2008 chevy Colorado. After one week I called again explained to the whomever answered again what I was looking to have done to my truck. They never returned my phone call ... Its not liked there swamped with work maybe this is the reason they have a empty lift half the time when I drive by.

Master Transmission rebuilt my transmission in 2018. After the rebuild, there was a hesitation when put into drive. I brought my truck back for the recheck and told them about the hesitation. They told me that was normal. Two weeks after my warranty was up, the transmission needed to be rebuilt again. After the second rebuilt transmission, there is no hesitation. Not happy with customer service, or the fact that I had to pay for another transmission. Not going back.

My car needed a transmission fluid exchange last August, and the #1 local recommendation I received was for Master Transmission in Rosemount. Took it in: pleasant waiting area, reasonable wait time, great staff, competitive price, and they even left a “thank you” treat inside my car. They included a 31-Point Courtesy Inspection, finding four concerns — one of which was a safety issue that needed fairly prompt attention, that I otherwise would’ve discovered “the hard way.” When I told PJ, the owner/manager, that my son could fix it and also take care of the other three items, he didn’t get terse or sarcastic like at so many other shops. He stayed friendly and simply urged me to get that one part fixed without delay. Fast forward to today, when I received a follow-up text reminding me about those four items, with a link to digital photos of the problems. Again, no high-pressure sales pitch, just an easy online form to either decline or schedule the work. They do all sorts of car maintenance/repair work on domestic and import vehicles, too!Update 06/30/21: I’ve been back multiple times for oil changes since my original review. PJ and the crew at Master Transmission consistently provide trustworthy, reliable, and efficient service. “Two thumbs-up!”

I have always had superb service at Master Transmission in all the years I have gone there. Everything was completed on time and correctly. All of the employees are always willing to help if there is a question to answer or just to make things right. Theyre very honest, professional and friendly.

Called and talked to PJ about having my air conditioning fixed along with diagnosing the check engine light being on. Dropped off my truck on a Tuesday and it was ready to be picked up Thursday even though I wasnt expecting it to be done till Friday. This is the third time I have used their shop for vehicle repairs. Had a transmission on one vehicle and the transfer case done on this truck earlier and was satisfied enough to bring it back for this repair. Even though after having the issues properly diagnosed I could have done the work myself, I just would not have had the time. But now the ac is cold enough to make me shiver and I prefer the cold. Will not hesitate to use them for any repairs I dont feel like takling in the future.

The work they did was great and at reasonable price and right on time, they even did more than I asked them to do and they didnt charge me for it. I do think there could be less chatter in the office PJ, some times it feels too much. I would recommend them.

I spoke with both PJ and Tom regarding my vehicle needs. I just had them put my new wheels and tires on my truck along with an accessory (bumper) installed that I couldnt handle at home. Extremely friendly and helpful. After getting vehicle home, the engine light was on. Because they removed the radiator, I was concerned. Turns out it was just a sensor or something else that was not related. They checked it out, no charge. I highly recommend this business. Amazing shop with amazing staff! Had my truck at one shop and they told me the transmission was completely fried and needed to replace the entire thing for 4k, took it to master transmission for a second opinion $450 and 3 days later the truck is back and running amazing. Had Master Transmission do a front and rear gear swap in my truck to help with towing capability. Master Transmission came recommended by Kramer Spring for all their transmission and axle work. Initial rear gear set installed failed after less than 1000 miles, Master Transmission replaced the failed set free of charge. Second set failed after 600 miles. Upon inspection it couldnt be determined the root cause of the failure. The gears were aftermarket gear sets. We discussed factory gear set being installed. I ended up quoting the rear set replacement by dealership. In an effort to support the dealership increase cost to replace the gear set, Master transmission refunded me the cost paid for them to install the gear sets as well split the increased price for dealership to replace the gears 50/50. Very generous of them to assist in the additional cost. Thank you.

It was an amazing service that I have ever experienced. I am so glad that I found this location. I had a timely transmission flush done and a great conversation with the main boss. I asked many question and received all the answer with an extra education in how things are done and what to look for to prevent any car problems. Those who have a hard time trusting other auto care place, I would advise you to come to this location first.

They did a great job doing my car inspection back in February but when I went back a week or so ago to figure out whats wrong with the AC in my car and then quoted me 600 dollars to fix it. I left and went to my mechanic this week and it was a completely different issue compared to what they diagnosed. Just a little disappointed I bought the part they said was the problem to it not being close.

At just 75k miles or so, I had the unfortunate situation that the 6L80E blew up in my 09 Silverado. Called Master Transmission on a Monday right before they closed to set up an appointment. They did everything they could to try and save the transmission from needing a full rebuild and save me money, but in the end, the transmission was SHOT. The awesome part? They take pictures of progress as they move along with the repairs - I got to see the metal chunks at the bottom of my transmission pan. Updates are provided periodically, and they rebuild the transmissions in house. This is nice, because most transmission shops just order remans off of some shady reseller/reman company and swap the transmission out. Not here, they rebuild it fully in their own shop and have a lot of confidence in their repairs with a great warranty. Trans shifts great now.

I needed to have the transmission fluid changed out and clean the screen(filter). I called for a quote and scheduled an appointment. The work began and finished a little ahead of schedule, and the quoted price ended up being higher than the actual, so I saved a little there as well.

Simple spark plug and wire job turned into my truck being unable to accelerate. Had no issues before tune up job. Took it back in and it actually got a little worse. I wont be going back.

I called a few other Transmission shops in the area and they weren’t even familiar with the issue I was having, where Tom narrowed it down to two things just by talking with me over the phone. One of the best experiences I have had at an automotive service center. Just moved into the area - was introduced to one of the owners Tom and also met their front desk employee PJ.They ran a diagnostic scan on my Equinox and will be working with them in the future. Long story short, The transmission on my 2007 F150 decided to take a dump in the parking lot of a fine garage in St. Paul Park. I have an extended warranty that expired 6 weeks after the breakdown. The shop where the truck puked its tranny tried to work with my warranty company but the warranty company needed the tranny tore down and diagnosed. This particular shop doesnt do that. I figured I was screwed. My friend recommended Master Transmission so we arranged to have my truck towed there. Tom and PJ were amazing. great communication, and they managed to get my warranty company to cough up about 60% of the bill. There prices were fair, the communication was fantastic, the truck (Just got it back) drives like new. My on ly complaint is they are located about 30 miles from my house.
