High Country Market and GastroPub was a great local place and my first time visiting, not my last thats for sure. There is a wide selection of beers and wines and saw people coming here just for the 6-packs of craft beers. I got the Philly cheesesteak and really enjoyed it and the fries. Go check this place out off Gattis in Round Rock.
I use to frequent this place quite often. I want to give them 5 stars as I like the owner and staff. I hadnt been there in 2+years but when I walked up the employee remembered me and that was pretty impressive. I use to come here because of the selection of craft beers and wines back when other stores didnt carry large varieties but since then the craft beer industry has exploded and I found the selection to be overpriced and the once lively atmosphere to be dark and looked more like a stockroom than a store. Dont get me wrong Ill still visit this place when Im in the area and Im sure they were hit hard due to covid but I think they could improve the first impressions by cleaning up the place a bit.
Good food and drinks. Dont let the proximity to the gas station fool you into thinking this is an ordinary gas-station market. We were pleasantly surprised and will return.
Went to have dinner with my wife. I had one of their all Angus hamburgers and my wife had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both were excellent and very favorable! It comes with homemade house chip which were great! If you are a wine connoisseur, they have an excellent selection of wine. I took home 4 bottles. I highly recommend it!
This place has amazing food with qood quality beer on tap that rotates. Wine classes and a massive wine selection, and everyone who works there is so friendly and wonderful. One of my favorite local places!
Cool little place. No substitutions at all. Only two salad dressings options neither are the usual ones. One salad option that you can add chicken to. Homemade chips. You can get breakfast until 4 pm.. So there are pros and cons. ***Because Zihar I was taken there by someone for lunch, thats why I stayed*** For a business owner you arent very professional. And you responded with violence towards one of the people who reviewed you on here.****. Mind blowing.
Not really a Gastro Pub. It’s a liquor store/ gas station with a mini bar, some tables on one side and a grill. The burgers and wings were fine. The person working the register/counter was pouring himself drinks and trying to hide that he was drinking behind the counter.
More than a filling station! Incredible beer and wine selection, good food, wine club options-- and a fantastic place for wine education in the evenings.
Wow what a find!! Had the wagu burger with beer battered fries with rosemary truffle ketchup. SO GOOD!! Not to mention they have an amazing wine section, as well as a great beer selection and sell growlers!! Such a fun environment, thought at first it was a convenience store
Great food, great service and good prices. Would recommend the Reuben sandwich.
It’s not really a market in any sense. I came wanting to skip HEB crowd for some staple items found in any 7/11. Their sign for Grocery refers to candy and chips so maybe it’s a Trucker market? Food in the diner is decent, really slow service and nobody visible to take orders so not a quick grab and go type. All in all if you’re not in a hurry, want some craft beer and chill munchin on diner food it’s a decent place but not really what I’m looking for in a neighborhood market
Neat place! Friendly staff! Great selection of beer!
This is a little gem great atmosphere and the food is wonderful.
Got the high country burger, the greek/gyro burger, and some onion rings. The onion rings and house chips were phenomenal, and were the only redeeming aspects of the meal. Both buns were horribly dry, and the Greek burger was totally lacking in flavor. Needed to have a sauce of some sort - as it was, it was just bland and dry. Would have been one star were it not for the sides. Ive heard from friends that the buns are not usually dry like this. Hopefully this was just a fluke, but at ~$9 a burger Id expect much better.
This place was actually awesome. I met up with my friend and I was skeptical at first because he asked me if I wanted to grab a beer at a local Gas station. At first I wasn’t sure but then we walked in and I looked at the menu and they have some really good food. The beer selection is also very good. My friend got some fancy sounding beer and I got Miller. The only negative thing about the whole experience is my beer was a bit warm. One of my biggest expectations at a place that serves beer is it to be Ice cold. The chips salsa and queso was fantastic and they warm the chips as well. The chips are also bottomless so it’s great to sit down and have that option. They do not come to you, it’s a walk up counter and you have to walk up to refill beer and get more food. I also asked for a Miller in a bottle and they told me that they had to pour it in a glass, but I am not too picky. This place is worth a spot. To my surprise there were actually a bunch of people sitting down for a beer.
Great selection, friendly staff
Really amazing food, great wines and great people! Plus I love the location. Ill definitely be back!
Great crew. Breakfast tacos and coffee are hard to beat.
Good burgers and beer 🍺 😋 👌
Heat, power, internet. Beer, wine, Water, Soft drinks, Gasoline. Coffee on the house....what more can you ask for
High Country Market is a one of a kind country store with that keep Austin weird vibe. The have all the beers you can think of, and the foods that they make here are fantastic. I love their burgers, theyre big, fresh and oh so good. This place isnt your average quick stop, you will walk in thinking that, but once your inside youll soon find yourself lost in the ambience...great place to eat, drink, and hang out . Think baby Buckeyes.....
Love this place. Tucked into a neighborhood gas station and a wine bar!! What, what!!
Pita pizza was hot and delicious
Ive enjoyed the food every time Ive been here but the service is very poor. My last two online orders for pick up is what has made me decide to write this review. I placed an online order about a week ago and clicked the button for text updates. I received a text telling me what time my order would be ready. I went to the fine establishment, and was told they did not get my order. I showed them the text then was told oh I just now got the order it will be ready in ten minutes. I thought okay no big deal but remembered back to a time when the same thing happened a couple years back and the nice lady gave me a free basket of chips while I waited for my pizza to get prepared and cooked. So, yesterday I placed another online order for two pizzas and clicked the button for text updates. After placing the order the website told me what time my order would be ready but I never received a text update this time. I called after about 35 minutes and explained I had placed an online order and wanted to know if it was ready because I had not received a text. I got the same answer as a week before. I did not get an online order, oh it just now popped up. Do you want me to call you when it is ready? I said yes. I did get a call when it was ready and the pizzas were delicious. Bottom line, I like the food but it is frustrating to deal with the customer service. Even just walking in to buy a six pack is frustrating because it takes so long for someone to come to the register and check you out.
Always fast service and drinks always taste amazing. Staff very friendly and always happy.
Good food. Decent prices.
What a GREAT quaint spot! Tasty food, we had the hummus & frito pie! Although if I was taking to go, the homemade pizzas would be a fantastic choice. Nice variety of craft & domestic beers. Friendly, attentive service with a comfortable atmosphere. Gotta make the stop before you drive by!
Great place to go for beer and food. The food is a little pricey for the portion, but its tasty. The real winner is the beer. Plenty of good stuff on tap and a fantastic selection of cans and bottles to take home. I hear theyve got a great wine selection too but Ive not checked. All in a convenient spot with gas pumps to fill up your car as well. Love coming here!
Hidden gem in Round Rock with the best sausage pizza! Plus, how can you beat an awesome beer selection.
Best selection of beer and wine to go but done sleep on their food. Its great
Whole lot of NO _____ signs and they ignored me at the register instead of saying something to acknowledge that someone is waiting. Just a Hi, be right with you would have made it feel better. Just not welcoming...and kinda unnecessarily disciplinarian. Dude, I just want a drink - no need to scold everyone who enters w all your signage. Im sure theyre very busy running a business, which is super challenging. I hope they can think of a different way to approach the public that feels friendlier.
We went for their advertised Ruebens on St. Patricks Day and took our four kids. None of our food came out together and when it did it came with chips instead if the up charged fries we purchased. My rueben came out with soggy bread and dry pastrami after everyone else was done eating. I was given a refund and an apology.
I stopped by this place to get some gas on my way to a job interview, and just happened to go inside for a bottle of water. If youre looking for a convenience store this is not your place. But if youre looking for an amazing beer and wine selection as well as beer on tap and a friendly cashier who is nice enough to offer me some beer samples (right before my job interview, but I got the job anywaya lol).I have not tried the food here but Im willing to bet its pretty tasty based on other reviews. I will be back in and probably update this to mention the food at some point
Kinda awkward place. But the staff os usually pretty helpful.
We got the wagyu beef cheeseburgers and WOW!! They’re juicy and packed with flavor. Finally, we found a great burger joint in the Austin /RR area. The fries are really good too! Service was great and friendly. The inside was very clean too. Can’t wait to go back!
The quality and preparation of pizza not the same!
Good draft beer selection for the size, the food is good, but dont allow dogs. Not much in the way of market. Great bottlsd/canned selection of beer in the market.
The owner if this store is a disrespectful dirt bag that constantly parks his vehicle in handicapped spaces. If you ever see a Mercedes suv or large white delivery type van in the handicapped spaces with absolutely no placards, please feel free to head inside and say hello to the owner because that means that they are on property.
The best Breakfast Tacos Ive had in all of Central Texas. Fresh ingredients, great food. Go get the Bacon, Egg, & Potato taco on whole wheat tortillas! Or try any other taco combination... Dont forget the salsa verde.Outside of breakfast, their pizzas are very good, as are the grilled chicken sandwiches.Their Beer and Wine offerings are fantastic. Kudos all around.
Been here several times always pleased with the service and awesome food
I think I got the High Country Burger I honestly cant remember but basically the cheapest one. I believe it was around $8.99 it was good in parts and okay in others. For instance the bread - the buns, was really good it had this amazing crunch that just made my mouth happy. On the opposite end, the cheese was tasteless in the oddest way. Overall it was a good burger and helped my mom and I fill up after a stressful day.
Worth a trip. We live in Cedar Park, but this place has great food and the desserts are awesome.
Great beer and food. Great staff.
This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. I wouldnt have realized it was there because I assumed it was just a store for the gas pumps. Boy was I surprised about what I found inside. Great selection of wine, usual snacks for a gas store and an awesome eatery. The burgers are really good. What was the most remarkable was the care the staff took in being considerate during COVID. They greeted us with hand sanitizer upon entering the store. Tables were far apart. They offer gloves and masks when you come in the store if you dont already have some. They even offer meal kits so I dont have to wait inside and can cook at home.
Burgers and pizza are a STEPAbove, for sure. The staff is top-notch, always so welcoming.I can NEVER get enough of their amazing rosemary- fused ketchup!!!!!
Always have good times here. Best place in the area if you wanna have good conversations with friends paired with good beer and wine. Also, the food is surprisingly good!
Had breakfast with one of my sons here this morning. I ordered the brisket tacos for breakfast. My kiddo went with the classic bacon egg and cheese breakfast taco. I was blown away by my tacos. Just damn good. My kid usually takes a few bites then is done. He only left me one bite of his! I highly recommend.
I cannot speak to the menu or bar. However, gas is cheaper across the street and so is the beer. That being said, if you are looking for a beer selection that is beyond run of mill stuff, they probably are worth a look. You will pay more for the beer there, but it is a larger selection of better beer all conveniently located in one spot.
Always an awesome experience at High Country Market! You may not get by the appearance, but this fun little place has one of the top selections of beer and wine in the area. The owners are wonderful and knowledgable hosts. They are constantly giving back to their community and creating a neighborhood place for all to hang. Kids welcome! The food is made with care and as much locally sourced as possible. Ask Zahir for a wine recommendation or take one of his wine tasting classes. You will not be disappointed!
Nice neighborhood pub, great place to stop by and grab a beer. Food is ok, service is good.
Ate here today for the first time and I was kind of iffy eating at a place that is half a convenient store. Gotta say I had such a good experience for a first timer. Customer service was excellent and the food was so good. Havent had a burger that good outside of Austin in awhile. The man who took my order was so helpful as well. Definitely will be a returning customer!
My personal experience was just mediocre enough to not warrant more stars than 3. But our food took entirely too long, which disappointed me enough to bring down the rating to 2.It is VERY apparent, from the responses to other reviewers, that management has a problem with criticism, and have a very unapologetic, self righteous attitude. Business 101 - of you ever say take your business somewhere else to a customer, YOURE in the wrong, and need to reassess your priorities in your establishment and the way you handle it.That aside, the food was good enough for me to like it for what it was. However, it took a whopping 49 minutes to get to our table, from time of ordering to time of eating. That is unacceptable by any standard, and any other time, it would have prompted me to speak to the manager about a refund, and would have left. But I decided to stay and give it a chance. After the first 30 minutes, I could tell the team in the kitchen was not very cohesive, and didnt have the best communication. The interior of the place is messy and unattractive. It looks like a warehouse in which they inserted a mini restaurant. This establishment suffers from what is called an identity crisis, where it doesnt know or cant decide on what to be : a bar, a restaurant, or a gas station, and in the process, it fails at all 3.Im sure the locals see this establishment as a town gem, and I can tell that they have regulars. The problem with these 2 factors is that a business like this has to almost entirely rely on those factors exclusively to turn in a profit. But then again, if this business is doing well, then more power to you! Congrats on making the best out of a very unappealing, unwelcoming, confusing, mediocre experience. For outsiders, dont take this establishment as an example and takeaway of what Round Rock has to offer. I promise you there are other, better, much more accurate representations of the Round Rock experience when it comes to Restaurants /Bar/pubs.Adjust your expectations, expect the worst, hope for the best.
Great food in a great environment. I love gas station restaurants. I almost gave them 4 stars based solely on the atmosphere. The place looks unfinished. You have to walk to the other side of the building for the soda fountain and your walking past unfinished shelves and pallets to do it.I would love to see them finish out their space and serve a burger - but this is all in all a great spot!
Fun, clean great time
Great beer selection, just be careful about some of the older bottles. Friendly staff.
Excellent selection. No need to drive into Austin for a great craft beer packed convenience store. 8 draught taps and growlers avaliable, or stay for a pint and a great dessert. Very nice people.
A great burger! All food selections are great but the burger is my favorite. Nice laid back atmosphere. Friendly staff.
When this place first opened, it was awesome! There were tons of great products that you couldnt find at any other corner store. Their food was well above average ... but something changed. They stopped selling the awesome products in exchange for the things you can find at any corner store. Their food quality has also suffered. I feel like they are trying to cut costs and at the expense of the quality of food. There was a time where I would start every day with breakfast tacos from this place ... but NOW, the food there is barely palatable. The last time I ordered sausage, egg and potato breakfast tacos from this place they use ITALIAN sausage! Italian!!!If you do go, stick to pizza. Its hard to mess that up.I gave 2 stars (one more star than the food deserves) because the staff there is nice.
I absolutely love High County Market and go there often. It is such an inviting place with great staff and the best food ranging from tacos, pizza, and burgers! They also have more wine and beer options then I thought possible for a local shop. I highly recommend this place whether youre hanging with friends or having a night out with the family.
Stopped here for lunch based on all the good reviews. The burger was way too greasy for me which made the bun soggy in parts. The flavor was just ok. Tea tasted off like it had been steeping all day. This was my experience, maybe an off day? Knowing what I know now, Id probably keep looking if youre hungry for a burger.
This is the first place I always go to and enjoy the atmosphere, the friendly staff and the great beer on tap and the delicious food!!
Friendly staff. Great beers b
Great place to grab a breakfast taco before work or an informal bite after work. You really come for the wine and beer selection which are curated by a sommelier with excellent taste. Theres a great selection of wine as well.
Amazing food. Best hamburger in the greater Austin area and without the Hipsters. Just a Texas friendly family behind the counter and in the kitchen. Indoor and outdoor space. A massive beer and wine selection. They have cool sodas on tap also.
Amazing food, wine and beer choices! Great atmosphere to hang out after this virus is gone. Support local!! Z and Salima always gives back!!
The best wine shop in Round Rock by far. Great food too, try the truffle ketchup! Wonderful beer selection as well. Theyre really doing something right.
A hidden gem with great food and a huge beer and wine selection.
I liked the beer. The pizza we had was a good price but I should have ordered the pepperoni and not the meat lovers. I wasnt particularly fond of the bacon.
The beer and wine selection is the best in the entire neighborhood. Their food? Typical American fare, but... All handmade and organic, with reasonable prices too. Not to mention their social media channels, better follow them to get a good laugh every day! Def worth the visit!
Excellent tacos! Wonderful service, a great selection of beer or wine. Most if not all of the food is locally sourced, organic and fresh. My recommendation would be to try the pizza, it is made the same way true italian pizzas are made.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner cooked to order. Unexpected in a convenience store but surprisingly good. They do NOT skimp on the bacon in their tacos and its cooked to crispy perfection. A large selection of liquid groceries which they offer various tastings for. Oh yeah, and they sell gas. Definitely worth a stop.
The selection of items is amazing. As a Houston transplant, this place feels like home. Unfortunately the counter service isnt great. Staff takes a while to notice a waiting customer and they dont always seem glad to help. Which, Ill be honest, keeps to their Houston theme. The service doesnt prevent me from going back again and again to restock and have some drinks.
We love the gourmet gas station! Not only is the food great but the selection of wine and beers is wonderful! 8 taps of local and other favorites! Owners are spectacular! Come on our. Oh they have gas too.
Its different, and delicious. You would think your entering a convince store, but youre not. Wide selection of beer, wide selection of wine. Food is delicious. I havent tried the pizza yet, which my friends highly recommended, but I cant wait after trying the breakfast.Ill be back!
I love this place. The atmosphere is so every-day-laid-back. Its a gas station and a pub, so I constantly see people I know come in and out getting gas. The regulars are great. The owners constantly remain accessible and the take criticism seriously. Very family friendly with great food and beer.
Really put the gas in gastropub...
Not what I expected when we drove up. You walk in the door and the place is very clean, staff are friendly and the food was great. We will definitely be going back.
UPDATE Mar. 20Dear High Country Market GastroPub and Diner,Your response to my review did a better job of articulating how I felt during my visit than I ever could have, and since it is in your own words, it carries a level of honesty and candidness that I could never hope to duplicate. I found your view on all potential suspects (err, I mean customers) especially meaningful and something everyone who considers coming to your store should read.PLEASE DONT TAKE IT DOWN.My only feedback would be around your last paragraph. I didnt have any arguments with your staff. I found them to be quite friendly and apologetic while explaining the various rules for patronizing your store. Maybe that was a different customer who didnt like the way they were treated? But, other than that one correction, well done!!!---------------------------------------Original ReviewSuch a strange experience. The first thing I noticed were several Smile, youre on camera signs as I walked in. This is a nice neighborhood, so that was surprising, but not a deal breaker. However, when I went to browse their selection of bottled beer, a lady approached me and said that I couldnt go into that part of the store with my backpack. I was taken aback at the implication that I might steal something, but my wife and I had traveled across town just to try the place so I went along and had my wife hold my backpack while I looked in the coolers for a beer we could share.Once I made a selection, it got even stranger. The clerk said they would have to charge me 2 dollars if I wanted them to open the bottle. However, they said that if I selected a beer from a cooler behind the bar instead, I wouldnt have to pay an additional charge. Seeing as this was all one store that didnt make any sense, so I decided to cut my losses and quit trying to give this place my business. At the end of the day, I didnt appreciate being treated like a criminal when I first walked in and then, trying to charge me 2 dollars to open a bottle of beer from one cooler, but not another was arbitrary and poor customer service. No, I wont be back.
Every time I come here it is an issue. Slow pumps card reader errors. They open later than scheduled at times and cant even pay at the pump when this happens. I see they get a lot of business with a bar and grill built in then why cant they fix their equipment thanks for the headaches
Love this place. Good burgers and beer!
A beer selection like no other.
Great beer and wine selection with a relaxed neighborhood feel! I love their pizza! Who doesnt like cold beer and great pizza!😂🤣
Great and unusual wine selections for purchase. House wine glass purchase is well chosen and delicious. There are unique craft beers available for beer lovers. The pizza we selected was fantastic with a thin, crispy crust. We had the Hawaiian pizza. They have wings and sandwiches on the menu, as well.
I would give it five stars bit they kinda close early. The burger I had was good and the beer selection is amazing. But I saw someone eating a pizza and it looked awesome so now I gotta try that. I would definitely suggest this place to a friend
Amazing Truffle ketchup! Best french fries I have ever eaten.... Everyone praises the burgers, I think they are decent but maybe a little too much seasoning for me. The bar was nice, great beer selection. Very interesting concept for a place to eat/ get gas and alcohol. Would reccommend trying it out. I feel its a great date night thing but maybe not the best place for young kids.
This place is amazing. I stopped in to get a quick snack and saw that they make sandwiches. I got the southwest turkey sandwich and all I can say is wow...so much WOW that I went back the next day to get another sandwich. THats how good it was. I would definitely recommend. Cool atmosphere, great food, looks like tons of beers on tap and it has great health food selection.
