Great choice for a refresh of our old and outdated kitchen! Since we already had newer counter tops and appliances, this option created a brand new kitchen without replacing those items for no reason. The work took about a week and the crew was very courteous. Weve had a lot of renovations over the years and I believe these guys did the best of respecting our property and cleaning up once finished.
We met with Steve back in Jan 2018 to plan a complete kitchen revamp (incl. creating a wall opening, moving gas line, new cabinets etc.). Apart from a standard wait time for custom-made cabinets and only couple of minor setbacks, Kitchen Tune-Up did an exceptional job in transforming our house. Well deserved 5-star rating. Huge thanks to everyone involved: Steve, Tino and John - job well done guys :-)
Kitchen Tune-up came to my house to refresh my cabinets, and it looked amazing! The guys were very professional and courteous when they came for the appointment. They were avid about cleaning up after the work was done, and they were very informative about everything their product. I was very pleased with the results. The office admin, Jamie, was a pleasure to talk to on the phone. She was one of the most informative, very pleasant, and very caring about my needs for my kitchen. 5 stars across the board for every person I came into contact with from start to finish. Thank you guys very much!
I highly recommend Kitchen Tune Up in Austin. They were able to come and give a quote within 2 business days. Their pricing beat every other quote I got. Customer service was top notch and my cabinets look stellar! Very happy customer and would definitely use them again.
I had Kitchen Tune-up come out to update my kitchen. They were extremely professional. Steve and his team were great. Jamie in the office was very helpful in addressing all my concerns. Steve was there every step of the way during installation, which only took 4 days. Tino, the technician was absolutely fantastic!! He made sure that everything was picked up at the end of every day and that I could still use my kitchen throughout the process. I highly recommend this company!!
They take forever to schedule and never show up and if you call them they will reschedule you but won’t show up. it’s a pure waste of time.
Run away as far as possible from his company. The owner steve is not professional and does not keep appts nor understand the importance of integrity when it comes to potential customers or employees. In the 2 days I worked there I heard several appts being pushed to another day while the owner was lost in his own head sitting in his office. Glad he has time for the gym but not time to pick up cabinets and get them to the site to be installed also lets not even talk about the set up they have going on.
The concept is fabulous, the execution poor. We were told it would take at most one week to complete the redoor/reface project after materials arrived. It took 2 months to finally complete, and the whole process was painful. There was no ‘plan’ for how this would take place. After a half dozen times, we stopped asking for one. The quality of work in the first day was sub-par, and one of the finishers left at noon without telling any one he was leaving. The first day’s work had to be redone. We had the owner inspect the work and he agreed that it was not up to their standards. He went on to tell us he had borrowed some employees from another franchise and blamed them for doing shoddy work. This pattern of not taking responsibility would continue through the entire process. It was always someone else’s fault. We had no idea when the installers were scheduled to work on our project, and as it turns out, they were only told where they would work the morning of the job. That explained why they didn’t arrive until after 10am. Most days they were here only until 3pm, We ended up being the Quality Inspectors for this project, because the owner wouldn’t stand in that role. The Quartz counter top that was bought at AZ Tile through Kitchen Tune-up is dull, and looks like it is years old already. The owner was not interested in addressing that, he just wanted the rest of his money. On the plus side, the cabinet doors are of good quality, they were made by another company. The two gentlemen who ended up doing the rest of the work were good at what they did and we appreciate that.My advice is to run far and run fast. There are plenty of alternatives.
I recently remodeled my outdated 1970s kitchen and used Kitchen Tune-Up to put in new cabinet doors and drawers. The process was super easy from start to finish. I chose all of the options I wanted and was given an exact price quote and production time. The crew came in on the specified day and when I got home from work the job was completed and looked great. I have had many construction projects done at my house and this was one of the best experiences I have had. The kitchen was all cleaned up and the cabinets and drawers looked and worked perfectly. I will for sure refer Kitchen Tune-Up to my friends.
I am very impressed with the quality of work and the professionalism of the staff. I had an idea of what I wanted and was left with so much more. The design help was amazing.Everything was done in a very timely manner and the few delays we had were out of their control. I was made aware of the problem immediately.I highly recommend this company before you start ripping out and replacing your entire kitchen and bathroom.
Very impressed with the knowledge and professional suggestions. I now have the most beautiful kitchen.
I reached out to Steve from Kitchen Tune Up concerning a cabinet reface. He came by during SXSW and braved the traffic to get me a quote after hours as I work late. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little nervous about having people on my house while I wasnt there so I setup a cam. His workers were amazing! They took every step possible to ensure my home wasnt damaged and they never broke off the job except for the occasional water break. The Tech was super friendly on the 2nd day as I was able to be there and observe their work. They were in my home only the 2 days but in those 2 days they earned my trust and their money. The project was amazing and on time. KTU is the best
Kitchen Tune-Up re-faced cabinets in half of my kitchen and installed new ones in the other half. They also did the counters and the backsplash. I have a small kitchen and it still took about three months to complete. Yes months, not weeks. There were near constant delays, excuses, and redoing work. Even when finished, the quality in many areas is poor.
KTU advertised Trustpoints were good intentions and very poor execution. Developed plan but failed to organize, ordering and delivered materials wrong multiple times. Rarely arrived on time including no shows without even calling and never having the materials needed to finish the job. Did not respect home leaving trash, boxes with large staples on new wood floors, didnt protect floors or countertops when working including long overdue original contract work and warranty work including having to vacuum cabinets and drawers multiple times. Contracted in June 2018 and was to take less than two weeks once materials delivered. KTU did not finish until February 2019. Would not recommend and certainly would not pay 50% deposit at contract ever again. Final product looks nice but the journey was a terrible experience.
Superior advice, planning, and execution. Used them for several projects over the years and always seems to be better than expected....Highest recommendation!!
Work was performed in a timely manner and in accordance with our order. Clean up was meticulous and we are very happy with our experience.
TL;DR Months of delays and mismanagement are worse than paying more for better service. We hired this company in the middle of November to reface our existing cabinets and to build some custom cabinetry around our refrigerator. The plan was to order the necessary materials at that time so that theyd be ready to start after the holidays. They notified us that theyd like to start on January 1st, and we suggested the 2nd, since New Years. In the end, they scheduled to start on January 10th. They came that Wednesday, and worked until that Friday, and came back the next week and worked for a day, at which time they informed us that one of the orders of materials had been wrong, and the job would be delayed. (We found out later that they knew this all along, they just didnt inform us before they started).10 days later they came back to start again on Friday, the 26th of January, and again on Monday the 29th. That was when there was another problem, and they didnt start again until February 23rd. If youre keeping count, thats almost a whole month later. The reason for this delay was that some doors werent measured correctly and they had to re-order them.Well, when they came to install those new doors, they were also not the right size! I guess they subscribe to that common saying, measure once, cut 3 times?Anyway, there were some other issues in the mean-time, like they couldnt seem to install handles on the cabinet doors that werent vertically leveled. I had to take my level and take a picture to show the V-shape that was formed by the installation. It was a little ridiculous.By this time, we kinda knew to expect another month delay, and sure enough, on March 20th, they scheduled the final installation. So what should have been a 2 week job (at most, we have a small kitchen) turned into a 3+ month ordeal. Now, to be fair, the final product is way better than what we had before, and the cost was lower than what we were quoted by a few other companies that we contacted for the job. But there were so many delays and headaches dealing with this company that if we could go back in time and spend the extra money to get the job done right the first time, wed do it in a heartbeat.
Contract signed: August 2017. Work begun: October 2, 2017. Work completed: February 21, 2018. Scope of work was not changed during the five months of construction. “KTU Austin” were contracted to reface our kitchen cabinets, replace 30 drawer fronts and 33 cabinet doors, modify some existing cabinetry, and install new appliances (a different contractor took care of countertops/backsplash without any issues). Why so long? “KTU Austin” ordered insufficient/incorrect materials from the factory, the crew had the flu TWICE, Mr. Smith had shoulder surgery, we were out of town for three weeks, and work had to be redone and redone...Communication between KTU and the customer was atrocious (emails would take days for a response, the office staff was focused on their other businesses). KTU Austin is a franchisee; unfortunately KTU corporate customer support had no interest in resolving the situations we encountered.Too many times the crew arrived unprepared for the day’s work (i.e. they had to install a new external vent for our exhaust hood and came to our home WITHOUT any ladder). I had no desire to micro-manage the crew, but there was no alternative. We never left the crew alone in the house. Daily, we had no alternative but to inspect all work with a “fine tooth comb.”Be very careful: Several of the drawer fronts/cabinet doors that were installed were made in their shop. They attempted to pass off this inferior product as factory manufactured/new. When they were called on this there were excuses galore… Eventually, factory manufactured drawers/doors were installed everywhere.I would not recommend this contractor for any work whatsoever.
