You cant help but feel Ace stores and also the strip mall it shares with CVS could do with a bit of sprucing up - especially given its proximity on the edge of downtown with new developments all around it. Having said that - the staff here is always very friendly and helpful and pricing is always competitive enough to where it makes enough sense to go here vs the big boys when you need something quick.Edit: bonus points for the response to my original review by the owners. Shows how much they care about being appreciated by the community!

Great help finding what I needed

Clean and organized. The guy at the back helped me find the fasteners I needed. The BEST thing about this place is that it is open until 6pm on Sunday, when every other local hardware store closes at 4 or 5. Believe it or not, this makes a difference when youre scrambling to finish a weekend project.

Staff is attentive and helpful, every visit no matter the day. Keys made in 1 min, crazy fast.

They always seem to have what Im looking for.

Had good selection and reasonable prices. They are open later than most hardware stores, which makes them a great alternative to the big box stores.

Stopped by to pick up some deck screws and grass seed.

Trying to shop local. But after asking for help three times (and being told vague directions each time) for what I needed, I told them I’d just get it on Amazon. And they were like “okay if that’s what you’d like to do”.When’s customer walks into your store and asks you for help finding something, go find it with them! Make the sale! Home Depot would have given me better service. This place is always like this, understaffed and unhelpful.

This store is great. Every time I go in, they always have what I need. Ive lived in Royal Oak 10 years now, so Ive been in quite a few times. Theres a lady who works there, Darlene, who is outstanding. Shes been there forever and is always so helpful, and today she assisted me with paint. Good Lord why didnt I meet her 30 years ago? Shes to be commended for her customer service.

These guys and gals are fantastic, I do alot of PVC projects and get some small bike repair parts from here. The staff is super friendly and helpful and for me I have had no issues with things not being in stock. Ive also used their pickup method to get some of my stuff and they always have it ready in the morning. Fantastic store!

Great local Michigan based hardware store. It has tht homey kind of feel. Like when I was a kid in the 60 & 70s and I went with my dad to the local store. Its way better than the big box retailers. Plus the old memories of the trips with dad. The sales staff are knowledgeable & expd.

I love my local Ace Hardware, its less than 250 steps from my home. I used to work there when it was an ACO Hardware. Its always nice and clean. Wonderful, helpful people work there. I do several different crafts, so its nice to be able to walk over there and get the supplies I need.

Helpful staff. Good pricing. Convenient location with lots of parking available. Ive always had a good experience in the store and found the staff people to be very the eligible and if the person Im talking to doesnt have the information they quickly get someone who does.

I used to go to Tonys however employees couldnt be bothered, laying all over the counter, just rude- however a just a little west if there is Great Lakes! For the most part customer service is Above the Rest! Always a greeting! Never I have someone I need to return something or if something is priced incorrectly its never a problem! Always asking if I need something? Need some help with anything? After purchasing a house I needed to buy paint for this home, weed wacker, edger, lawn mower, drill, saw, you know household basics?! Never once has there been a problem in the four years that Ive been coming here I just wish that I would have found it sooner!

Aces Hard Were stores are good they do have food, not frozen or things go in the fridge and they got more tools, and stuff for dryers and many many more. I only go to use their copy machine. The people are very nice.

Shift leader Darlene refused to honor The Ace Promise that applies to Ace branded merchandise. I bought their top of the line oscillating sprinkler, and it broke the first time I changed hoses. I barely used this product, and it was not misused at all. It was past 90 days so she stood her ground citing the return policy. This is not a return or exchange, it is a defective product with ACE stamped on it. That means it falls under The Ace Promise which states,If this product, when used for its intended purposes, fails to give you complete satisfaction, return the item to the Ace Hardware store where purchased for free replacement of the same or similar item. I would not have bought an Ace sprinkler if it wasnt for that promise. I even bought the higher quality metal sprinkler so it would last. Ill give the store manager the opportunity to remedy this tomorrow. I will change this review if the manager makes it right.

I go here alot for gardening supplies. I just wish they had compost bins.

This is a friendly place with a good inventory. And, as is true with most Ace hardwares, they always have some knowledgeable folks hanging around.

Sold us a yeti cup that was missing the slider then refused to let us exchange it because it was purchased when they had a promotion. Extremely disappointed with the poor customer service. I would think if a company sells a defective product they would want to correct it without issue. Train your employees

They recently changed the lay out of this store. the staff is always helpful. Theyve a really good selection and prices for a small neighborhood hardware. I find myself going out of my way to come here.

They would not give me a refund. Merchandise had not been opened/taken out of the package, it was actually still in the bag, with the receipt. If you go past 90 days, dont be looking to get a refund, even if your item(s) are still perfectly packaged.
