I have had a unit here for almost 2 years. The property managers play Houdini - many times not posting a return time. I am currently locked out of the auto open option for the gate. Manager speaks poor English. Spoke to corporate for reset. Passcode changed by manager - still no access. Managers response 🤷🏽‍♀️. Time to look for a new unit. So inconvenient!

I am very impressed with the facility. Bob has gone above and beyond to alleviate any concerns. The entire staff always makes me feel valued. I have two other units in California and the Royal Oak property has exceeded all my expectations. I will always recommend the Royal Oak Public Storage to anyone who asks.

I pulled up to the property and had an issue entering. Went to the main office and spoke with Kathy. We found out that our automatic payment did not go through and information needed to be updated. She was kind and offered a solution to the best of her abilities with a smile.

This is a very clean and well maintained storage facility. Bob was so helpful and shared great storage tips to get me started.

My belongings are on their way, but while I wait, I should share that the experience so far at this facility is first-rate. Bob was friendly, very helpful with suggestions that didnt occur to me, and professional. The unit he helped me select will suit my needs perfectly, and one of the things hes very good at is explaining clearly how the whole process works, and how to use the facility in a secure way. I look forward to getting my belongings moved in later this week, and Im very confident in my choice. Bob put me at ease, and hell help you too.

Glad I no longer a customer... Would not recommend. There are only 2-3 carts available for use and often they are being used when I arrive more often than not.Elevator door closing timing is set to Star Trek speed and often hits the cart or me before I have a chance to exit the elevator.There was a recent mass extinction event of flies on the third floor, was not notified of any chemical spray being used or if a fly farm operation failed... Not sure where they came from and why they died, just know they were seemingly everywhere.All units in the climate controlled 2nd & 3rd floor get dark dust at no extra charge.Aside from the lack of responsiveness from the facility to address complaints and lack of empathy for customer concerns at least they billed me on time and raised rates regularly.Im not sure if my experience was typical for the industry but would rather burn my stuff before storing it here.I feel the most sorry for the lady that lost her art collection when an elevator failed and leaked hydraulic fluid in her unit. She was told that PS was not responsible and thats why everyone is encourage to be insured. I cannot verify that statement but wouldnt be surprised.1 star because zero is not an option and the place looked clean & modern when we first arrived. Wish we knew better.

I’ve been with this storage facility over one year now. I have seen personnel change, but I must say that the addition of Bob and Pam have by far been SUCH A REFRESHING CHANGE!! I have encountered Bob more, but when I’ve had the pleasure to speak with Pam, she has been nothing less than pleasant, polite, and professional.Bob is very kind, friendly and responsive and takes pride in his job! Don’t misunderstand, he’s NOT a pushover by ANY stretch! He expects tenants to follow the rules of the facility, PAY ON TIME, NOT PLAY GAMES, TREAT THE BUILDING AND OTHER TENANTS WITH RESPECT while on site, and overall be a responsible tenant - as this is a “high-quality” PROFESSIONAL AND CLEAN facility in lovely Royal Oak. If you’re not on the up and up and don’t intend to or can’t relate to these REASONABLE expectations - this is SERIOUSLY “NOT” the facility for you! Thanks Bob and Pam for doing such an amazing job - we TRULY appreciate you‼️

I just recently renewed my storage unit for another year. Pam was extremely helpful walking me through the process. She went out of her way to make sure everything was done correctly and answered all my concerns. It was a wonderful experience to be helped by a courteous person.

One of the many good people i had the pleasure to meet in 2020! I can only speak for 1 The Manager there Karen is awesome the sweetest person ever shes going to go by the rules &/bt shes fair! Shes also accomodating, the place is neat & she has alot on her plate & to do bt she does it all with knowledge, a sparkling personality & a smile! Shes Awesome!

The employees are not helpful. They are mostly difficult to deal with except for one older gentlemen. He was the only person who was helpful. When I closed the locker the woman told me when I went out the gate I would get an email receipt. When that did not happen I had to go back to the office, which at your Troy Michigan is three blocks away from the storage unit. I had to wait. I explained that I needed a receipt as the trustee of a trust. She told me this time that it takes over an hour. I explained I needed something in writing from her. She walked over to the computer and pushed some buttons and low and behold the receipt printed. Not going to rent any storage unit ever again.

Karkea explained every detail of the process to me as Im new to renting storage. She really has the right attitude to work with the public. I highly recommend this branch.

Never used a storage facility before but this place is amazingly clean and makes me feel safe. Karkea checked me in and she was absolutely fantastic!! Answered all of my questions and was so thorough in explaining everything to me and was soooo nice!!

Maddie was extremely sweet and attentive. she answered any questions we had and made sure that we had the smoothest experience possible. the office and property were immaculate and easy to navigate, also. i would recommend storing you things here!

I could not love this location more. It’s clean, the employees are rockstars and it’s well maintained. The employee that helped us today, Miya, was so kind, attentive and made paperwork easy. When getting a new unit, she specifically looked out for us, ensuring we got a space close to our existing one. It saved us so much time and made our lives easy. Would definitely recommend this location to a friend.

The storage unit itself is nice. The staff not so great. You have to buy their lock for the locker. The lock is not an everyday storage lock. It does not work with every kind of locker. We went in to close out our account after the locker was empty. The staff did not get up from their desk, nor did they even look up and at my husband as he was speaking to them. In fact, they both had their cell phones out and were doing something on their phones that was apparently more important than focusing on and assisting the customer. To top it all off, my husband asked about returning the lock because it does not work anywhere else. One of the girls told him to keep it as he may want another storage unit with them. My husband very politely let them know that would not happen and walked out with a lock that is ofno use anywhere else. Truly disappointed!

Quality and friendly service. Everything went quick and smooth. Every question I had was answered. Reasonable prices! Madison was extremely helpful and kind to my husband and I.

When they did construction to add a new building they left a thick layer of dust on all my things. When I complained their answer was make an insurance claim. During the construction, the gate was left open unattended. They changed my lock without warning. They said there was an email but I couldnt find it. I paid for that lock and wasnt offered a refund. There are cheaper facilities in the area that couldnt be worse.

I am extremely impressed with this location! The storage rooms are clean and Maddie was super helpful, helping me with everything I needed to get started. Will definitely be using this place in the future!

I am so glad that I checked out a few different storage places in the area to get a better idea of what was offered and what the difference was between the companies. Melanie was so knowledgeable and advised me of all the different units they have available and will have available with the upcoming addition. I also was glad that they had me review my own homeowners insurance policy because some policies arent as broad spectrum as you think. She guided me to the right unit for my needs and helped me with some extra items to make sure that my goods are protected from dust and dirt. Thanks again for taking the time to answer all my questions you girls are the best!

Fast and Easy to set up the reservation & rental online and In-Person. With Maddies help, I had a storage space and keys in hand in about 15 mins. Indoor building is new and clean and very well secured. Excellent prices on their website. I give 4-stars instead of 5 for the potholes in the on property roadways, but I think their working on it.Overall an excellent Storage Facility. Keep up the great work!

Jan, the friendly, professional, pleasant employee gets a 5!!! Our experience on our first visit (obtaining the storage space) was not a good one at all (the clerk was not Jan for that visit), very unpleasant and we planned on never coming back. However, upon clearing out our storage space and closing our account, Jan made it a really pleasant experience. Even her payment reminder phone calls were delightful. If we had a business, we would steal her as an employee! Just a wonderful lady!

I selected this location because it was closest and offered drive up units. From first visit to getting the key, Jan has been so helpful!She is the reason I returned and rented. Jan is precise in her instructions, tough about following the rules and you can trust what she says. Rude staff. Very, very slow process. Large facility with only one staff member doing everything. Covid-19 makes it worse. Online prices are deceiving, there are many hidden charges.

Jan is an amazing customer service and property manager, very efficient and resourceful. I have rented from this storage property twice in the last 3 yrs. I would say she is by far the best, her courtesy calls are always pleasant and friendly. The facility is always clean, up to date and business friendly. You wouldnt make a bad choice choosing to store your items here.

Wonderful storage experience! I unexpectedly needed storage and called there one day prior to move in. Manager Jan took care of me and I felt like I was her only customer. Construction debris and dust created by Public Storage ruined items that I had stored. Negative experience!

I was at the public storage on coolidge. The woman running it (Jan) was so very helpful to me. She showed me a couple different sized units that she thought would be good for what I told her I had. I will definitely be renting from her shortly. She also showed me all the different boxes that she carried. Thank you miss Jan I will be back.

Jan, the manager there, was very professional and helpful in finding the right size unit for me. She showed me numerous sizes until I finally found the correct one.The paperwork did not take long and she made sure she answered all of my questions.

The lot and roads where the storage units are were very icy. Looks like they were plowed, but no salt was applied. Was unloading from one of my units the other day and almost fell multiple times... then at my other unit there was big blocks of ice in front of my unit making it difficult to unload. Especially since most of the stuff I was unoading was quite heavy. Again very slippery as well. I have no other complaints, but I highly recommend someone gets out there with a shovel and some salt! I would do it myself, but it seems this should be something Public Storage offers for their customers as we all pay a premium for your units. Safety should be a priority!

Jan is awful, so is her boss Dan Doyle. I have been renting a unit for almost a year. I choose this place because it is indoor, and has air conditioning.I have electronics, wood, a bed, shoes, and clothes in this unit. The reason for this nasty review is because they had a leaky roof and never disclosed this information to any of the tenants. My unit just so happened to be in an area where the roof gave out. So my stuff is wet and ruined. They never called me to tell me that my stuff couldve been damaged.I pulled up to the unit one day and saw all the roofing equipment. Didnt think anything of it. But when I checked my unit I found all of my boxes with water damage. Ants crawling around my unit. And my mattress with water stains.They claim they never new about a roof leak yet they are in the process of replacing the entire roof all of the sudden.... sounds fishy to me.Section 4.1 of the contract basically states they are not liable for anything including negligence.My stuff is ruined. They dont care. DO NOT RENT A UNIT HERE.

We rented an indoor, climate-controlled unit from Public Storage in Royal Oak, MI for less than 2 months while we were in the process of moving. It was very clean and well kept! The level of security was also nice - I often went during the day while my husband was working and felt fine being there alone. The staff was extremely friendly - Mary helped us. She even called us after we moved our things into the unit to see if we were happy with it! She also helped us cancel our unit and get a refund since we paid for a full two months (we settled into a home earlier than anticipated). Id recommend this storage facility and would use it again.
