La Mulita offers the highest grade, well sourced Columbian coffee that I have ever encountered. Take the opportunity to experience this diverse region of coffee via their single origin offerings, the regular staples, rotating lots, or even the house blend. Service is very friendly and the atmosphere is just as cozy and rustic as it should be. Even the actual coffee roaster machine, shiny and standing tall is a beautiful fixture to behold. Parking is a bit tight, but still well worth the visit.
A local hidden gem! Got a honey cinnamon latte and rye bagel with herb cream cheese - excellent! Seriously, the bagel was so good…a rare find in these parts. I’m no coffee connoisseur but seems like these guys know what they’re doing. 10/10 will be coming back (if only just to try the donuts and sit outside on their lovely patio).
Fantastic coffee that is worth the drive. Baristas really know what they are doing here. Not sure where they get their pastries but also really good. Some seating inside and outside. Limited parking. If you appreciate well made coffee, this is the place.
First decent cup of coffee Ive had during my three day visit, and Im staying at the wentworth by the sea down the street. My cappuccino was excellent, vibe is nice with plenty of parking and outdoor seats. La Mulita is a must if you are nearby.
The coffee is delicious, the atmosphere is upbeat and friendly, and the bagels or pastries are delish. Not a huge variety, but they don’t need one.
I admire their commitment to varieties within geographies of Colombia. It is not my personal preference of bean, but if this is your flavor profile it is going to be REALLY your flavor profile.
My friend made a special detour on our visit down from ME to try your coffee...so grateful she did! Stuart and Heather welcomed us warmly, gave us some background info about the store and mission to support the farms and farmers. Loved the decor, recycled wood pallets, simplicity of fresh baked goods on the counter, and of course the coffee! I would love to bring your product up to Central Maine very soon! Thanks and happy roasting!
Friendly service and delicious chai & cortado! Love the vibe of this place!
Im pretty sure the bagels were baked by god himself.Your tesla will bring you here on autopilot and the coffee will keep you on auto pilot the rest of the day. Seems like the logical choice for coffee on the seacoast. What an experience
Excellent coffee not your average cup!
Fantastic coffee shop - friendly and welcoming service, cool neighborhood vibe, with excellent cold brew and locally made donuts!
Delicious coffee and wonderful conversation! The owner Max has definitely hit a goldmine with his business! Local baked goods, delicious house roasted beans, cozy and relevant aesthetic, La Mulita is definitely worth coming back to over and over again. Highly recommend!
Best Coffee Ever! Shout out to Emilio for making the coffee! Coffee was bussin bussin🚌
On an east coast trip for a family wedding, best coffee we found anywhere. Cant reccomend highly enough.
It is refreshing to see good coffee back in the greater Portsmouth area. There is a lot of “coffee” in the Portsmouth area, but in my opinion, La Mulita is the only place serving up proper good coffee. Nothing else comes close. Always fresh. Always delicious. The variety of roasts available is fantastic. La Mulita is a daily routine and I recommend you try it out if you have not done so already.
Small unique coffee place nice stop before or after a day at the beach
Ive been going to La Mulita since they opened and Ive never had a bad cup of coffee. Their barista is a magician behind the bar and never fails to impress. Everyone is extremely nice and going in to the shop is always a pleasure!
Really liked the coffee and bagel! Scones looked good too :3
Only place I buy my beans - so thrilled for this gem of a place! people are super friendly and helpful too. great neighborhood spot.
Amazing latte and perfect bagel. Pleasantly surprised. :)
Cozy place with true coffee!
Employees are kind, fast, and super attentive. Coffee is absolutely killer, and the ONLY place I buy my beans at. They have wonderful lattes and some seriously bold cold brew. 11/10 would recommend to locals and visitors.
Friendly & helpful staff. Clean room. 😊
High quality beans and precision brewing plus great latte art!
Great location, people and food ... and superb Espresso!
I have tried scones everywhere and these are close to my favorite.Different from Phils at the Black Bean, but close in amazing-ness!
Friendly cosy spot, bigger than it looks from the street. The coffee is first-rate and includes some novel (to Portsmouth) options like the espresso tonic (you gotta try it).Gluten-free: on thursdays they have Lovebird donuts including GF.Covid-safe: all staff and customers are properly masked and following guidelines. Free disposable masks if you need one
Great coffee to take home. Great coffee to drink right there.
La Mulita is my favorite coffee roaster in NH! I highly recommend them!
Spectacular coffee and service!
A must stop on the seacoast. Truly amazing coffee and staff!
One of my favorite coffee roasters producing some of the finest Colombian coffee in New England straight from the source. The owner Max is wonderful and always smiling. Cant go wrong with these guys, genuine coffee and genuine people.
Amazing espresso and beans! The owner Max and Stephen were both super nice guys. The cortado was really good!! This place is a gem
Best coffee on the Seacoast served and run by the kindest and most genuine people!!!!
I tried the Humble mule decaf, mule fuel espresso and Valparaiso. All freshly roasted. Great flavors, Citrus, honey, toffee and orange zest flavors could be tasted.I use an Ascaso espresso machine at home. If you want real, freshly roasted coffee, then this is the place.Enjoy
Preface: We drive for coffee. We even fly for coffee. Some of our most memorable coffee crawls were in Cuba, Copenhagen and of course, all over New England. We are die hard fans of Snowy Owl in Brewster, perhaps the best roaster, around. Manuel and Derek from SO recommended La Mulita. We are often in Portland, for coffee, of course and tried to get to LM but their hours never coincided with our journey We decided to dedicate a trip just for LM. Boy, it was worth the 4 hour trip (round trip). The spot is in pretty Rye. There is plenty of parking and inside, its warm and welcoming. Baristas, Heather and Stewart made us feel very welcomed. They explained the coffees currently being served and crafted our second best Cortado of 2021. I loved my maple latte, as well. Whenever I see maple, I jump. They sell bags, of course and LM swag. I bought a gift box with a bag of beans, locally made pancake mix and maple syrup and a mug for 35.00. What a deal. We hiked nearby Ordione State Park which is NOT to miss and went back for more coffee. Owner, Max, has broken the coffee Siberia in this area and brought the community a righteous roaster. There is some seating but take your coffee and hit the great outdoors. And after, come back for one for the road.
Coming from Seattle, we struggled to find good beans roasted well on the seacoast. We ended up shipping them in -- until La Mulita. Max brings in excellent beans and his new espresso roast is as good as anyones. Plus, hes extremely friendly and generous with his time. Highly recommend a stop!
Great coffee and their bakery items are fresh. I love the blueberry scones.
Great, great coffee and very friendly owner and staff. I only discovered this last week but its my new favorite coffee place on the Seacoast.
La Mulita is a most welcome new hip coffee shop on the seacoast to pop in and snag a delicious pick me up. Staff is very nice, knowledgeable, and accommodating. If you’re looking for a fresh new coffee experience where you can get a quality brew and some positive vibes, but skip the hustled atmosphere of the big chains this is your jam! Go check em’ out!
Don’t miss out on this spot if you’re in Rye! Max is great and so is his coffee. Grab and go with some seriously legit fresh brew or grab a bag and enjoy at home. Highly recommended!
Received a bag of whole beans as a gift. Max hand delivered it. Beans were roasted to perfection, not over roasted and oily as many people do. Really appreciate your approach to roasting and the care you take to preserve the beans, their flavor, and integrity,
If you enjoy good coffee this is the spot for you. Go in for a cup (when the quarantine is over) and enjoy the experience. You will leave with a bag of your own.
I only write reviews for products that I absolutely love. Let me say that the coffee is excellent. I cannot wait for the company to offer more variations- especially a lighter roast. I live in Houston Tx and grew up in Rye NH. You will always see my coffee cup filled with La Mulita Coffee! Keep up the great work.
Beautifully roasted, delicious coffee. The owner, Max, is incredibly friendly and helpful. Wonderful to have a craft coffee roaster like this in our community.
High quality coffee. You can grab a quick cup, get a bag to brew at home, sit and watch the roasting process, or learn about the different varieties from Columbia. This guy knows his stuff.
Great people and service
Always great to stop in. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and awesome beverages!
What a great addition to Portsmouth and RyeThe owner Max ....the best.the most knowledge....and awesome coffee.....try it....youll be back once you taste the difference
The Mule Kick Dark Roast was excellent. Best cup of coffee in Portsmouth.

The real deal for micro roasting, if thats a term for artisanal super taste by a seriously knowlegable guy named Max. Lucky seacoast NH.
