Consistently bad service every time we’ve come here. We ordered a new gas cap for our car that never showed up. We were told it would arrive in a certain amount of days and that they would call us, but never contacted us after the fact. Last week we were told our evap hose had a small leak and that it would take 3 days to come in. It turns out that they never ordered the part and we were forced to wait another 3 days for them to actually finally get the part in. Today we arrived and were informed that they had ordered the wrong part and that they were unable to order the correct one since it was discontinued. They effectively wasted our time when we could’ve found other options to repair the car. I recommend not bringing your vehicle here if you want competent, organized service.

Omg Christopher and Alicia were super amazing I had a terrible tire blow out and I was dreading the whole idea of needing to replace a tire and how expensive it could be. Good business here I needed batteries for my car called around town & Yes Pep Boys was the cheapest, so they do have great deals, with service center also. Was the cheapest but good quality as well. Great & friendly staff, helpful, & Got it in, put it in, & toke care of me. A little wait but was worth it I was very satisfied. Good Looking Check em out! On Arden Way across from Dimples Record.

Its a bit late now, but I had the starter replaced on my car, and had a new Check Engine on when I picked it up. They absolutely denied responsibility.Fast forward to recent repairs and it was obvious the damage was caused by the starter housing.Theyre closing now.

Theres no oil in my car. My car shut off twice today while driving. I went and got a full synthetic oil change with a new oil filter at Pepboys. They drained my oil and did not put any oil in my car. Not sure if the oil filter was switched out, as Im not a mechanic. Ive checked my oil several times in the past and the dip stick has never been this dry. I have been driving my car all day, since I picked it back up at 1:30 pm WITH NO OIL IN MY CAR. my car was there from 10:45 am until 1:30 pm, and no oil was ever put in my car. I still have to drive it back there with NO OIL, AND I CANT WORK WITH NO OIL IN MY CAR. I AM LIVID

I heard a loud noise and was afraid it was my transmission. After starting the diagnostic, the tech came running out before I left to tell me that he had already found the problem and recommended I go to a muffler shop. They didnt charge me and the muffler shop, Marcos, didnt gouge me... so I got my car running great again for about 80 bucks.

I drive an hour to help my daughter with 2 tires that got slashed. I arrived at THIS store 25 minutes prior to closing and needed this in an emergency. Now I have to miss work because of them not willing to work a touch past closing time. Not even willing to try to help because they were closing. I even offered extra money or tip. Bad customer service and lost a great customer!! 🤬

Manny, Moe and Jack do all the maintenance service on my car. Had my oil and filter changed on Sunday. I replaced two of my tires and walked away with a bill for $312 very good value. I call make an appointment and the work gets done. Only wait for the service. Took an hour and a half for everything. In at 9 out by 10:30 happy man. Pep Boys gets the job done.

My battery died, but we werent sure if the problem was just the battery or also the alternator. Pep Boys told me that I wouldnt want to wait, but I couldnt get a ride home right away. They suggested Estelles for coffee across the street. By the time I returned, they were advising me on types of batteries, and were preparing to install the battery and test the alternator, with the testing fee waived. Great service!

I called Pep Boys to see if they can put a new Alternator in my mothers Honda Accord 2005, I spoke to David three manager there I stated I would like to set up an appointment he started no appointment needed, so I had AAA to tow the car there & this is the Pep Boys on Arden so when David called me told me the vehicle is there in formed me will check to see if its the Alternator or the battery, so Davids assistant called me told me it was the battery, now Im no mechanic but i told him how is that when the light and windows go up and down & radio come on but not the car so he said will test it again, call back from David the manager said it was the Alternator, so I got the call from David that the car was done get there paid & got the old Alternator so I go to the car turn it on and I see a yellow light comes on I went back in to the building told the them what I saw David nowhere to be found i said what is this light and the radio nor the air conditioner confess on these people going to tell me the car needs a maintenance i said what this car just had a Smog check & i said if thats the case why didnt the oil signal light did not come on then the supervisor went to get the machine to do a diagnostic check hes speaking spanish to the other guy that took my money said he will do a test run and state were not trying to scam you I said you must be guilt i just said fix it and did tell me where and when the car came back, so here comes Manager David stated I need to take the car to a Honda dealership & have them reboot the signal to have the air conditioning and radio and other things that are run digital because they dont do that there & sometimes it happen but 99% of the time it doesnt happen, I ask Manager David why did he not inform me of this when I called you for thought services and when you called me to inform me the car was done all he said was Im sorry i was told by this l the cashier that I have to call Honda dealership to get the code for the car manager David told me Im sorry he told you information is wrong and the cashier was talking and the manager David told him be quiet with an hand gesture, David said no thats the dealership that has to do this for you, I requested the person over him he gave me an email stating no phone#, please dont spend your hard earn money to this company or any Pep Boy company. So now i had to make an appointment with the Honda dealership and they seem quite familiar with this incident of the companies like Pep Boys and other like this company

Its ok. I like to go there every once in a while for all the cool car toys (accessories, tools, and misc) they got all over the store. One thing thats annoying is often theres 1-4 people in line waiting at the register and theres no one there for several minutes. Im like HELLOOOO, anyone here. Sometimes I have to go to the parts counter and tell them theres people waiting up front. Also, their pricing is a bit high and is often beatable elsewhere.

Greg at the Arden and Fulton location was quite pleasant on the phone. After I inquired about the cost of removing a nail from a tire, and then patching said tire. This conversation took place at 8:34PM, and they closed at 9PM! I then stated that I will attempt to safely drive to them to get the FANTASTICALLY priced repair. Upon arrival I parked in front of a bay, went inside, and waited about 3 minutes before I was acknowledge. I was told someone would be right me. About 3 more minutes passed, which made me nervous because the time was now 8:42PM! Greg came in and asked how can he help, I restated what I needed. I asked if I may please have my tire patched. Greg said sure, I spoke to you on the phone. You sounded like you were in trouble. My child and I experienced great customer service. We will definitely return for future business. Thank you Greg!

My fiancee and I had a very bad experience at the Arden Way location. We went there knowing what was wrong, and the man at the counter ignored everything we said and gave us an outrageously inflated price of 400 for a repair, not including labor, as well as a forced diagnostic for $89. He was very rude and high-handed, and basically refused to listen to everything my fiancee had to say. Needless to say, we left and went elsewhere. Very disappointed.

I am not coming back here. I had an appointment on a Monday morning for an oil change. I waited over 2.5 hours for them to complete an oil change. This is unacceptable. I spoke to the front desk, he said they were short staffed about ten times. I was trying to be reasonable as well as understanding. The eleventh time he told me, it just started to sound like a great excuse. He gave me half off the total price of the oil change, I said I would be back at the time, thinking I should be kind about this situation, let it blow off my shoulder, but NO WAY. I was supposed to work that day and I could have been making money, running important errands, or doing something worth my time. I was stuck with an appointment for over 2.5 hours. This is absurd. To top it off, they did not reset my Maintenance Required light nor make sure my fluids were topped off. In addition, they tampered with my battery which I almost had to bring it into to a mechanic to check on which would have cost me over $100. I saw all the negative comments and I wanted to give them a try, (being down the street) but no, never again!

Understaffed, Sure there were a few employees around doing things in the background (dumping the trash, on the phone, etc.) but no one to answer any questions or take my money. Its a good size store it took me much longer than it should have to find the items I wanted. and longer to find a cashier. I was not the only one wandering the aisles. The store had been open for over an hour, finally a person with her cash drawer came out from the back and opened a register. She mumbled something about someone not showing up.

My truck started making a funny noise so I visited the service center at Pep Boys to have them check it out.There was a couple being helped when I walked in but no other customers in sight, so I was the only person waiting and waited 20 minutes without even being acknowledged before someone finally helped me. I understand that places get busy, but a little courtesy would go a long ways. Two different staff members helped one couple while I waited. Meanwhile at least two other staff members stepped in for one reason or another and simply ignored me.When it was my turn the guy was nice enough but distracted. He told me it would be $19.95 for a diagnostic fee which I thought was reasonable, but that it would be at least 2 hours before the could look at my truck. That was just to get the diagnosis started. The time for the diagnosis and any repairs would start then.He seemed as though he didnt really want my business so I thanked him and told him maybe another time would be better.

Walked in 10 minutes before closing and I still received some of the best customer service Ive ever received. I was given assistance with finding all of the parts I needed and, even when closing time came around, was never made to feel rushed. I cant recall the employees name, but his positive attitude and excellent service helped to reduce the stress caused by some sudden car troubles.

I had a flat tire and I called quickly after work. Unfortunately I get out at 7:30PM. They offered to help and Joe quickly signed me up for the rewards card. He said the tire still looked good so they were going to try to repair it... For FREE because of the rewards card. They still offered to help even though I barely made it before they closed. I had an amazing experience here and trust me, it was a relief.

They said just bring it down and well charge it for free, I asked him are you sure because other places I called that were farther away wanted like $5 to $10 so I was shocked when they said free. I will never go here again. The first time I went I made an appointment for an oil change and waited over an hour and a half. What is the point of an appointment if you have to wait this long? Additionally, I was told I needed new tires when I had just got them checked elsewhere and told they were fine. The second time I went for an oil change as well. Service at the time seemed better; however, I later noticed that there was dirt on my door and seat. Upon further inspection, there was grease ALL over my dashboard as well as the upholstery of my car. I am furious that I now have to buy a cleaner to remove it. Pep Boys has lost my service.

Because I question the repair of my vehicle. He screamed Your just trying to get something for nothing!!!! Your just trying to get something for free !!!! I have always come to this location for the past year to service both my vehicles never experienced a problem and management was always there at our service and friendly. We would get discounts and deals they always provided excellent service for regulars. But now the old manger is gone and the place is different my finance and I had set an appointment for our regular oil change and we come back 3 hours later and the car was not even worked on yet it was still in the same spot we left it. I am very disappointed. Never will return to this location again. The previous manger no longer works there and he has always made sure our cars are serviced and ready when we arrive. 3 hours should have been plenty of time to do an oil change even with an appointment. There is no excuse for that. Sad to say the manger is gone. Things ran smoothly with him here. We will not be returning anymore it looks like things are falling apart over here. I guess all good things come to an end. Smh. 😔

What a flipping joke. I cannot stand places without integrity, and this place can be added to the list.When i arrived for my appointment, there was already an irate customer demanding he get his part replaced asap- the night before, he waited 2 hours to have the work done on his car, the part was improperly installed, and it came off. The guy at the counter told him there was nothing he could do without an appointment. Strike 1.I signed up online for a free AC inspection on my vehicle. It allows for you to make an appointment online and go from there. At the end of it all, I was charged 51$ because at the very very very bottom of the webpage in tiny font, this service is free in every state, except for California. Shady, shady, unbelievably shady stuff. The guy at the counter berated me when I had asked, as if he is used to getting that question all the time. STOP FALSELY ADVERTISING THEN. Strike 2.Lastly, they showed me all of the things wrong with my AC unit, but instead of having the qualified AC technician walk me through everything for 2 minutes tops, they had a prepubescent boy try and explain things he didnt understand. For a 600$ work order, YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOURE SELLING. Strike 3.There are plenty of other places to go with plenty of kindness and integrity. Skip this shady joke of a business altogether.

One of the busiest Pep Boys Ive ever been to but they get the job done. Their customer service is good and never had a problem with going here so far.There is this one lady that seems to yell at everyone everytime I go there. She is usually bossing everyone around. More of a manager than a leader. Makes you feel slightly uncomfortable when you go to this location. There is no need to yell at your co-workers. Work together not against each other.

Had a flat tire and came in 20 minutes before they were going to close. Besides some register trouble they were having, the experience was excellent as the service manager and the techs were super helpful and friendly. They were able to help fix my tire and mount it on my car just before they closed AND it only cost $20!

Seems like great customer service is relative to the phrase you get what you pay for when it comes to automotive repairs. If you are like me then you read these reviews and rely on an honest opinion that is non biased. I have read the reviews on here but do not want to leave a bad review so I will just write about my personal experience and let you decide if you want to risk a positive experience with PepBoys at Arden Way in Sacramento. Other stores may be a better option but for this review just Arden Way.I have a 2005 Toyota Highlander with a power steering problem. Its been 6 days and I now have the final quote for the unfinished repair. I was told several times different information and was expecting timely service but today I am not going to follow thru and will just go elsewhere. Im not upset Im disappointed. My time is valuable and I know good service and I know bad service so I will leave and pay for better service. I can only control myself and not others so I have the power to decide and I have decided to spend my money and my time wisely. The risk is yours to make and think about this: did PepBoys go from a 1 star up to a 3.6 stars or down from 5 stars to a 3.6?Reply to business: I have sent an email to that address and will explain further but I am not really sure anything will change and Im not interested in continuing the issue. I will move on.

PepBoys treats their employees as badly as their customers, which is why I no longer work there. Management puts pressure on employees to up-sell. On the other hand, its a decent place to get a cheap oil change or tire repair. Nye and Mike are great mechanics, I enjoyed working with them. WATCH OUT FOR THE UP-SELL!

I got an oil change, I said when I came in I knew one tire has a screw in it but wasnt an issue and another one goes low once and while, when I left I asked did they rotate the tires? Its supposed to be apart of it, they said yes.. week later my tire goes low, same place, and I can see the nail in the other tire, same place. They didnt rotate my tires like they said. Makes me wonder if they even changed my oil either, not going to mention the wait.

Made an appointment for a Lyft inspection at 1pm. At 230pm, an hour and a half later I left. At no point was there any communication of extended wait times, or delay for whatever reason they might have had a delay, but at least I could have made a choice earlier on if I was able to wait. Instead, an hour and a half of my time was wasted for absolutely no reason. If only they simply communicated, even a ball park guess would have made the difference.

I can only give 1 star as I am having the hardest time with this Pep Boys location. I had my car towed through one of the towing companies that they work with, It was delivered to the location fine but the problem is that although I had an appointment they did not get to my car at all, I called every hour and was given the run around each time. It is now day 2 and still no progress has been made on my car. I should be given a discount on any service due to my wait.

On top of being super slow. The guy at service center did not tell me that it will take them over 5 hours to do an oil change for my car. I would be ok with delay if he did communicate and advise me for such a long wait. I could just simply uber back home and showed up when my car was ready. I ended up waiting around 5 hours in their waiting room that dose offer nothing like a TV, complimentary coffee or even a restsroom. Horrible comunication and customer service. 😥

I would give this place no stars if I could, I went in to get my tires balance at an appointment I made 5 days prior for 12 pm.I waited 45 minutes after checking in and giving the tech my keys, who initially quoted me about 30 minutes. After 45 minutes I noticed my car sitting in a lift and went to check in on the status. They couldnt find the wheel lock key and hadnt gotten around to asking me for itAfter another 45 minutes I went back to check on it again and they then told me there was a problem with my alignmentI chose to get my alignment fixed and my front two tires replaced which took about 2 hours, the mechanics talk to each other too much and work gets done very slowly every time I looked out the window to check the status there seemed to be some marvelous conversation happeningI would not return to this locationIt took over 4 hours when I was initially told half an hour

Where do I start? Ive had several experiences with pep boys over the years and all but one was bad. Im okay with giving a single star in commemoration of the one, kind of good experience I had. I generally try to stay away from pep boys but now that I live closer to one I thought I would try again for convenience purposes. Always follow your first mind is what I hear my mom saying to me because thats exactly what I should have done.Selling me the wrong parts which wouldnt have been so bad if my mechanic and I didnt have conflicting schedules. They knew the make model and vin - go figure. Telling me they need a special tool to replace my battery causing me to have to get my car all the way across town to get a new battery and waiting for three more hours and finding out that there is no special tool. Screwing up my tire to where there was a loud screeching coming from it and then refusing to fix it... had to get a different mechanic to fix it. In store customer service not very helpful to where I had to google a bunch of stuff I to find the right products for my car. Having me wait days for an appointment only to be notified later in day that they didnt have the proper tools to test my car. Really? I waited two days, got my car to the location when my car could have been somewhere else being repaired. Its not meant for me to deal with pep boys. The list goes on but If they are good to you then stick with them Im happy for you but Im done dealing with it. Good luck with all of your car repairs. Thanks for reading.

Just got a Full and complete oil change which evidently doesnt include filling washer fluid OR coolant. What the heck? Then they said I needed new tires and shocks... newsflash dude... these tires, struts, brakes, calipers, EVERYTHING is 3 months old from Les Schwab. Youre welcome to go inside and buy some coolant and washer fluid and fill it yourself.... thanks, thats why I just paid for an oil change... a full and complete oil change ALWAYS includes topping off other fluids EXCEPT at pep boys. Never coming back.

This 5 star goes to Greg, the service department manager. I had an issue with a battery I purchased and he took care of it, although there was a mixed up with the retail and I was very upset and frustrated, Greg handled the situation very professionally.Thanks Greg!

Went in to pick up a headlight. Found what I needed and waited for someone to show up and check me out. And waited.....And waited. Waited about 10 minutes and finally walked out the door. It looks like this location is only interested in the Lyft program. They were the only people I saw up front.Went down the street to ORiellys and was in and out in less than 2 minutes.
