I live right next door and the team is always happy to see my dog- when it was time for my 30,000 mile service, it was a clear choice. Dealerships tend to talk down to me because I’m a woman. Not at Ellis! They were so nice, and even let my dog say hi to them. My car is done perfectly, and for $60 cheaper than the dealership. I’ve found my forever mechanic.

I had a great experience at John Ellis & Son. I was in a fix, and they helped me get home (over 200 miles) without my car battery giving out on me. If Id had the time to leave it overnight they would have identified the source of the drain too. They offer AAA membership rewards too, which helped lower the cost. You cant go wrong leaving your vehicle with them.

I brought my Saturn Vue in to be looked at, because I was having problems with my starter and alternator. My car, at very random times, just refused to start and gave off a scary metal grinding noise when I turned the ignition.I didnt know what the problem was at first, but I described the situation to the staff and they seemed to know exactly what to do. They provided pics while they worked on my car and let me leave it parked overnight, so I could pick it up the next day.It was a little expensive, but they gave a discount which helped. Im glad I never have to worry about my starter again! Thanks guys!! 👍🏽

This garage does a great job. I picked them cause they are walking distance to my house, and seeing the positive reviews figured it was worth a try. Everyone I’ve spoken with has been nothing but kind, and they provide you with their recommendations without pressuring you. As a 20-something woman with an older car, I’ve been talked down to at more than one mechanic in the past. Completely different experience here. I had an oil change and cabin air filter checked, and afterward I noticed that my heater was making a weird sound. I brought my car back in, and the guys who helped me were super fast and pulled some debris out of the cabin air filter. They didn’t charge me for the follow-up visit. Thanks for all you do! Will definitely come to them first and highly recommend.

I took my car in to John Ellis to get a smog check and they got me in right away, no questions asked. They found that my car was in dire need of an oil change so they did that as well as replace my wiper blades and broken tail light. It was done in a few hours. They were so accommodating, friendly, personable, and went above and beyond. Absolutely going back!

I brought my 2018 Toyota Tacoma to John Ellis for a diagnostic check because the truck is new to me. They had diagnosed my previous truck with a blown head gasket, something that another shop in the area had ignored and sold me a bunch of service it didnt need instead. I knew John Ellis would be real with me, and they were. Thankfully, they didnt find any significant problems with my truck. I will continue to use this shop as they are very straightforward and honest. Thank you Hector and Jerris!!

I definitely do not recommend this shop for any sort of engine repairs. The staff were friendly enough, however the quality of workmanship is poor. Had my Ford Crown Victoria towed there back in November for a spark plug thread repair. After finishing the repair, the mechanic started the engine and immediately revved the engine up high on a cold start (the engine had not even ran for 3 days) to blow the debris from the thread repair out. 5 days later, the engine suffered catastrophic failure. At first I thought it was simply coincidence, and I parked the car in storage until I could afford a new engine. I was only just able to purchase and install a new engine, and upon disassembling the old engine I found the point of failure was the cylinder that had the spark plug thread repair. The engine suffered damage to the piston, valvetrain, cylinder head, block, and catalytic converter and is not salvageable as a result. Being that it has been so long since the original repair, I am not expecting anything to come of this, however customer beware. I went to this shop upon recommendation from AAA and I believe AAA is incorrect to recommend this shop based on the cost and quality of the repairs.

I was impressed by their ability to book an appointment quickly. I needed my front brake pads replaced and my oil changed. They did a whole car diagnostic and proposed repairs totaling about $2500 which is what I would expect to pay for a major repair, not tune up type stuff. I called them and went over the invoice line by line and had them remove the things I did not feel needed to be done, as I had only wanted an oil change and the front brakes worked on. I did have them rotate the tires and resurface the rotors up front, as well as replace the brake pads/change the fluid.For an oil change and the front brakes/resurfaced rotors/fluid exchange, I paid over $500, which is a fair price. What absolutely sucks thought is that my front brakes still squeak in cold weather, which was why I wanted them done to begin with.

I had a great experience at John Ellis. My coolant thermostat housing was leaking, and they were kind enough to work with my old auto repair shop, which was out of state, to get it paid for through a warranty I had. They were very professional and updated me regularly about the status of my car.I am always nervous about going to mechanics because Ive been scammed in the past, but John Ellis is top quality and I came away feeling like I had been treated with respect! Would definitely recommend them to a friend.

Took my Chevy Tahoe in for transmission work. They actually send you a text or email with a link showing you the diagnosis and suggested action for the service you requested, including pictures. I have to admit that I also was pleasantly surprised by the pricing. I expected this shop to be more expensive. The are courteous and professional and most importantly they are knowledgeable and dependable.I would return to this shop and would definitely recommend them.

I stopped in John Ellis & Son auto shop this afternoon to see if they could top off any low fluids under the hood and to make sure there was enough air in the tires for my trip back to Chicago tonight. Excellent and professional mechanics and service. In and out within 15 minutes. A beautiful fish tank to enjoy while your vehicle is worked on, and a very kind and knowlegable man sat next to me and we spoke to one another which made the time go by even quicker and the man happened to be the owner of the shop. Everything looked good and I only needed wiper fluid to be topped off. The service was free of charge. You guys rock!!

Nobody wants to wear them and I understand, neither do I. But the threat of this virus is still very present. Many persons are asymptomatic, and can be spreading without knowing. COVID is most commonly spread from person to person from droplets in the air which can remain in the air up to a few minutes, making it so easy for it to spread. Please consider encouraging employees to wear masks. I understand this cannot be enforced. I also think as a business this kind of action should be modeled to customers. I didnt see any customers wearing masks either. This is for your protection too! Our state is continuing to see spikes in cases and it all starts with us -using precautions to mitigate risk.Thank you for your consideration.

Being a struggling traveling musician with my band The Normalcy Bias, I was traveling from Seattle across country after 800 miles of driving broke down in Sacramento with a serious oil leak. Hector and all the shop guys went out of their way seeing me in duress, immediately put my car on the riser, checked it for free and replaced a broken washer on my oil pan screw. They guys could have taken advantage of me being I was out of state and desperate but not only did they fix my problem in 20 minutes for free, but these guys reek of INTEGRITY & HONESTY which I cant thank or recommend them enough. I took my car in asked if they could replace .y broken thermostat housing and they quoted me 366 the next day they called me back and said they had to charge me 429 despite me mentioning that I lived in my car 🚗 and was barely able to find 366 to pay the repair costs let me add the part only cost 30 bucks at autozone so know what there paying way less so they Charge me 370 for labor I do not recommend if you ARNT rich and dont have alot of money then I would not go to this place also I left a review on there site and they have an app that they are able to erase any review that is bad .it kinda fishy they have not one bad review not even the one I posted about this incident .

I have been coming here for about a decade. They are the best. They always tell me what is wrong with my car without pressure. When they say I HAVE to do something I know it is important. The prices are no different than other local shops but with better service. They cost more than Jiffy Lube but you know John Ellis is ensuring your car is drivable.

I was quoted great prices on parts and labor for Tire sensor work and they did a complete check on other tire sensors to see if they needed replacement. I was kept up to date with emails on progress and expected completion. I will be returning again because of the great prices and friendly welcome I received.

This place is great I pulled up at 7:30 am and they had my car ready by lunchtime. Also honest diagnosis, there was a suspected suspension problem however upon inspection they decided that it wasn’t necessary, very honest and didn’t try to sell me parts or work I didn’t need.

Came in for a simple smog and oil change. Before no time at all they had it all finished and even where able to show me some problem areas of my vehicle. They have me a explanation of what needed to be fixed immediately and what was not of immediate concern. They then helped show multiple options to fit my budget. After that was all said and done they made sure I got home and called when my car was ready for pickup. Overall the service was both professional and friendly, something that I personally look for when getting my vehicles serviced.

My elderly Camry began overheating one morning as I was heading in to work. Thankfully, I work not far from John Ellis & Son. They got me in and had everything fixed and ready to go by the time I left work that day. It was a major repair, but the price was reasonable for the work they did. Good communication throughout, and I will go there from now on for all my older cars mechanical needs.

I was referred by another customer Nicole told me to take my car there to have a water pump put on my 2002 Acura TL and Hector took care of me he first quoted the price did the analysis and no other problems other than cooling systems replaced water pump paid left. Overall a good experience with good people.

Absolutely love this auto repair! I have taken my car in multiple times for weird car problems (steering wheel stopped working and air pressure notification was on, even though my tire was fine) and they didnt charge me for their time inspecting either problem. Im fairly new to the area so when a rat decided to take up residence in my engine bay and make my car completely undriveable, a coworker recommended John Ellis & Son. I looked them up and saw all these great reviews and immediately was skeptical that they had friends and family leave most of them. I couldnt have been more wrong and they deserve every 5-star rating they have. Every single person I spoke to in person or on the phone had the best attitude and was so friendly and helpful. I never felt like just a number to them. Their mechanics were able to get all the electrical issues fixed from that stupid rat and they gave recommendations about what I could do so it doesnt happen again. And just like any shop, they gave the standard recommendations for other work that you might need for your car, but they never once made me feel pressured to get it done and before I could even respond, they went so far as to tell me how much longer I could go without getting the work done. I always worry that auto shops up-sale work that you dont actually need, but I never had that worry with this shop. I felt like everything they suggested was truly in my best interest. It just so happened that I knew I was in need of a 50k/60k mile maintenance so Im really glad they made the recommendations. They sent emails and text messages keeping me updated throughout the process. They were upfront about the pricing and were true to their word (the quotes they provided upfront were exactly what I saw in the final invoice). They also gave me a discount for being a first-time customer, which my wallet definitely appreciated. When I went to pick up my car, I noticed my nav/stereo wasnt working. They offered to keep it one more night and look into it and were even awesome enough to give me a ride home so I wouldnt have to walk a mile in the extreme heat. The problem ended up being a blown fuse, which they fixed at no additional cost. Kind of a lengthy post, I know, but all in all this place is incredible and you should take your car here!!!

My beloved 85 Suburban backfired recently and scared the begeezus out of me. John Elliss Crew took very good care of my vehicle and me. I thought it needed the carb rebuilt, but it was just a hose and a dirty carb. And, then it passed smog. They went above & beyond by picking me up from my home.
