I love their selection of cheese and board placing. The outdoor seating is a great spot and the service is good. I like that they let you choose cuts of cheese to go, 4oz minimum. Maybe more expensive than going to a whole foods or nugget but its a nice experience. Theyll shape the taste around what you give them too if you dont know what you want.
Amazing food, wine and staff. Everyone was so knowledgeable and welcoming. I highly recommend checking this place out. I read some reviews beforehand that stated it was pricy, but for the quality, it really was not that bad. Great experience.
I’m very particular about my mac & cheese so I was a bit hesitant about trying out this lobster mac at The Rind. So glad that I did. It’s important to try new things and different variations of this comfort food. It was piping hot, served in this mini cast-iron, and jam-packed with flavor and spices. I paired it with a nice red blend that worked perfectly. Topped the meal off with dessert, the chocolate moose and whipped cream . Everything tasted great. There was a courtyard concert going on as I dined outside that only added to the experience and our host/server was very attentive, kind, and accommodating. I really did enjoy my time at The Rind. While I didn’t get to have it myself, I hear the quarantine salad is yum! Might have to check it out next time.
Came in an hour before closing, friendly wait staff let me choose where I wanted to sit and didnt rush me at all. Everyone was covid complaint and wore masks. I ordered the lobster Mac n Cheese and it was delicious! I had to take some home because it was very filling! This cozy restaurant has a lot of options for wine and cheese dishes. Ill be back again
Just meh, the gf roll they served was ice cold after being on the griddle supposedly. The salad was underwhelming, the burrata was really good and the veggie grilled cheese didnt seem to have cheese or be grilled.
Very nice. We had some good wine and an appetizers.
First time here and wow I know what the hype is all about now! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive, helping my girlfriend and I select the right drinks and cheeses based on our palletes. The staff here truly care about creating a delicious and enjoyable experience. We ended up loving each of the cheeses (cheddar, smoked gouda and goat) and all of the accompaniments. We already decided we’ll need to come back just to try the grilled cheeses too!
Such a great spot! A hidden gem in Midtown Sacramento. Try any of the cheeseboards... They know their cheeses. They actually make great grilled cheeses too. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. Great for a date spot or just to catch up with some friends. They have a nice bar and a great outdoor seating area. Def check this place.
Great service. great wines. Amazing cheese selection. Super helpful staff.
I am very fond of fine meats and wine. I like to think of myself of somewhat a connoisseur of both, so The Rind is one of those places that I love to kick and grab a nice charcuterie and a couple glasses of there wide selection of wines. Firm, blue, semi and all types of cheeses made from goats, cheese & cow milk sourced from all over the world. Another option I love is there burata which is accompanied by heirloom tomatoes & thick sweet peaches doused with a balsamic reduction. If your into sweet reds like me Id go for the Barbera dAmador
We stopped by here for some lunch and the food was really good. It was really pricey though, so I knocked a star. We got a Charcuterie Board, 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, a cup of sour and 2 beers. Cost us $100 bucks. The grilled cheese was good, but should have been bigger at those costs I think. The service was great though. Our server (Britney) was super awesome and deserved this shout out for her outstanding service.
Rock and Roll tunes. Spanish burrata with fried kale and romanesco sauce. Great starting point for girls night out.
A large selection of cheeses, wine and beer as it seems. Didnt try any of the beer, but the wine and cheeses was definitely on point. The atmosphere was great but the music was a little strange. If I remember correctly it was playing country music that night. I have nothing against country music, but it just didnt seem to fit with the decor and atmosphere. However, looking beyond that I can go there again and again on the wine and cheeses alone. Two thumbs up!!
Watermelon salad was light & refreshing, a great combo of simple flavors -- definitely one to try.The Brie-T grilled cheese is a delicious savory sandwich that you wont forget...The charcuterie & cheese boards together are the perfect way to have sweet salty savory & decadent flavors all on one plate -- the staff had very good suggestions/pairings about the wine & beer :))Customer service was very good & the staff knows the menu & their drinks...
I like this place. They have a great selection of cheeses, craft beers and all kinds of sodas you never heard of, which always gets me excited :)We had a french sandwich: T-Brie-D, and it is a bomb. Second, we had a pork sandwich: Banh Mi Oh My, and it is okay. Just okay. We also had a bowl of tomato soup.T-Brie-D (french) is a must try at least once kind of meal.Banh Mi Oh My (pork) is the kind of sandwich you can never have again in your life and you would be okay with it, but if you happen to have it again youd be okay with it too.Tomato soups falls in that same category as the pork sandwich.Despite all of my liking of this eatery, 2 negatives (not a deal breaker, but every place has some, and it wouldnt be fair not to mention them):1. Its a little pricey. We had 2 sandwiches, 1 bowl of soup and a soda for lunch and our bill came out to be $52 (including taxes and a 15% tip). I dont know, maybe I am wrong for saying its expensive. I just compare it to the opportunity value of these $52, and in our restaurant adventures, $52 usually will also entail lots of leftovers, which is good for the next day lunch/dinner. So, in truth, $52 converts to $13/meal (2 people, 4 meals total), and in this case it came up to be $26/meal (2 people, 2 meals total).2. Really cramped. Looks like they have a lot of interest (demand) and not a lot of space (supply), which is probably an explanation for higher prices. Tables are located very close together, which is obnoxious for waiters (not to mention the customers), because they have to ask customers to move every time they want to get to the table in the corner. From a pure business prospective, your overhead cost per customer will go down if you expend. And thats because it looks like you will have more customers (demand) than the increase of some overhead cost (like rent, wages, and amortization), which in turn will allow for retail prices reduction, which will bring even more customers. Not to mention that a bigger place will attract more customers because it wont be cramped anymore. Do your math :)
Great spot for a date night with your special someone! Wine Wednesdays are the best! Knowledgeable amd kind staff that know there stuff when it comes to wine and cheese. The food was excellent too!
Great place for a girls night or a date. The cheese selection is killer and the staff is super knowledgeable about their products.
Such a cute, intimate place. Went with a girlfriend and we sat under heat lamps outside due to COVID restrictions but the food was delicious. Had one of the grilled cheese sandwiches, a charcuterie board and the Pinot Grigio. Was expecting a bigger selection of wine but the one I got was exactly what I wanted. All great quality. I’ll definitely be going back to sample more of the food!
Ive been here 3 times. The food is great and the first 2 times the service was impeccable. However, the 3rd time was a very different experience. Im not sure if the staff had an off day, or if because on my 3rd time I didnt get the same server who had my table twice. Coming in during Covid, tables were limited inside, they had no outside seating on this day because it was raining. There were 5 tables, and 3 servers. So the service shouldnt have been too difficult. My boyfriend and I ordered a very easy order; soup, sandwiches, and 2 drinks. Upon arrival of the food I asked the server/food runner if we had one more soup coming out (since we ordered 2) and she rolled her eyes at us and said yes. Next, no one came to check on us when we were trying to leave and pay our check - we saw the restaurant manager (or server?) that day turn down 2 new guests because they were full (they could have taken them if they just cleared our table). We had to flag down someone for our check, then watch them hand it off to the next person, then they charged our table for the wrong tab! Then, we had to ask twice for boxes to go. They probably ignored us because shortly after we asked the 2nd time 2 servers out of the 3 were just standing at the bar drinking beers. We ended up leaving highly unsatisfied and I hope they see this review to reconsider the way they treat customers. Overall, food is good, but be prepared for off-days for service. There were 5 tables and I my self being a server am understanding when someone is rude or if theyre busy. But I definitely feel like the treatment was extremely uncalled for.
Sooo delicious! Best grilled cheese and soup Ive ever had
Worst service ever. Waitress only checked in because more people sat down, wed already eaten and finished our drinks. The dish was brought out incorrectly and all we got from waitress was story after story about how it wasnt her fault. No offer to fix it, no appologies, no discount. No graciousness, just attitude and mountains of mouthing off!!
The tables are squished way too close together. Just cuz the pandemie is “over” doesn’t mean I want to be sitting in some strangers lap.
I made the mistake or ordering the Truffles & Cream and I have 0 regrets. It was super delicious and not filling, but I left very satisfied. Paired it with a Pinot Noir they had and it was just delightful.
Great food but prices are a little high and service is a little slow.
Delicious cute lil restaurant. Loved the dads mac n cheese w a generous glass of beaujolais. Staff was friendly, vibe was nice. Pleasant place to be.
The T-Brie-D was impeccable, drinks were great but the atmosphere wasnt quite the same being tucked in the cold, dark back corner outside. Will try again though!
First time here and I would have given 5 stars, but honestly covid has impacted the dining experience wherever you go..I had Moms Mac and shared a cheese tray with my friend and it was by far the best Mac that Ive had here in Sacramento. Only my Mac and one I had at Penny Royal Farm in Booneville was better, in my opinion and again I know my overall experience was overshadowed by covid..Great experience and I expect it will only be better as the weather warms.. Go enjoy some cheese and wine, while supporting a small, local business.
Have been wanting to try this place ever since it opened. Splurged and ended up getting two cheese plates. Plus wonderful selection of beer and wine. Staff was very knowledgeable about their product. Easy just to sit and say what kind of cheese you like and theyll create a plate to your liking. Fun place to take friends, better with a group so you can try more cheese!
Visited this restaurant for the first time on 11/08/20. While the food was delicious, albeit, the extremely slow service. I don’t believe it should take almost 35 minutes to make grilled cheese, and Mac & Cheese. Moreover, I couldn’t help but notice one server (male, with tattoos on his arm) spent rather more time at one table rather than helping guests to sit. He continued chatting, and playing with the dog.I’m not sure if he washed his hands properly, but he kissed the dog on his mouth, touched him whilst the dog was drooling, and the dog jumped on him continuously. Quite unhygienic to be honest. I wouldn’t want someone like him to serve me. I think the management should look into this. There’s a time and place to chitchat with mates and play with dogs, not whilst working in a restaurant.Food rating: 4.5 star.
You read the menu and youre like okay grilled cheese and mac and cheese? Thats not very impressive but then you read the ingredients and taste how decadent it all is and honestly? No regrets on spending $15 on a sandwich. The best meals Ive EVER had have been here. Also, if you like wine, they have plenty of options and for someone who ISNT a connoisseur, such as me, they were super patient with finding a wine that paired with the food I chose AND that I genuinely enjoyed.
I went here very briefly with a couple of friends one day. They have good wine available as well as some other interesting options. I didnt try anything on the menu other than the wine, but we took a look, and the happy hour looks great. It is a super cute interior, small and cozy, with a little classy (has to be with the wine and cheese, right?)The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a sampling of the wine we got before we went all in for a glass.Great experience overall, and I hope to be back for a Happy Hour soon.
Awesome vegan sandwich
First time here. Phenomenal grilled cheese.
🤤 So good! When my green mac and cheese was placed in front of me it looked tasty, but I was immediately disappointed by the small size of the portion. It was so deliciously rich though that I couldn’t finish it. I look forward to returning.
This was one of the best meals Ive had this year.Really neat space, and they were able to accommodate our party of 5 rather easily. Food came out at a nice pace- enough to really enjoy each course. The charcuterie plate was nice. We asked for their pairings with the wine we ordered, and the cheese monger had some nice selections. Both the mac and cheeses and grilled cheeses are great- I can especially recommend the Not Your Moms Mac and the T-Brie-D.I cant wait to go back. If you havent been here yet, youre missing out on a FANTASTIC dining experience.
Small, quiet, and nicely lit with a great wine and cheese selection. The brie LT sandwich is amazing and they actually used some great heirloom tomatoes on it. I suggest pairing that with a smokey wine! Frankly, the price, ($15), for the sandwich threw me off, but it turned out to be so worth it.
Always delicious.
Never had dinner here, only stopped by for wine or beer and a light appetizer. One of my favorite places to catch up with a good friend or to bring a date to. Decent wine and beer selection, plus at reasonable prices. The decor is a little higher scale but still down to earth atmosphere, and while small in size there are still plenty of seats. Definitely recommend you checking it out for dinner too because I hear good things about their grilled cheese.
Oh yum....cheese and wine, need I say more. One of the few places my daughter and I agree upon. She always gets the Not your mothers Mac and cheese and I love the lobster Mac and cheese. Guys take your date here, girls love cheese 😍
My friends and I all ordered different dishes. They were all extremely tasty and flavorful, none tasting similar. This place is fantastic, and I wish I could take it home with me. You wont be disappointed! Side note: I forgot to take a photo and only realized after I devoured my food. I got the Chipotle Veggie! It was so good!
Waited 40 minutes for our food to be thoroughly disappointed. The gluten-free bread was soggy on the bottom with literally cold veggies and cheese that was thrown on and not even melted. I took this order to go and live five minutes away. It should have been warm and delicious, but left me wanting.Would not recommend and will not be back.
The Rind never disappoints!

FlameMango - best grilled cheese of my life. They additionally have an excellent selection of wine and beer and do build-your-own cheese boards. Great vegetarian options as well. Mac n cheese is decadent.
So so so delicious! We stopped by for lunch and for a cheese board, lobster Mac, and mushroom Mac. The Macs were outrageously delicious. The cheeses selected for us were also wonderful, we let our server just pick a few but said we preferred a firmer cheese. One star off because while very friendly, she seemed slightly disingenuous, though that didn’t hinder our experience.
I live this place. The food is phenomenal, the wine is delicious and the staff is a pleasure.
The food and the place is wonderful.
Such a spectacular Sunday night dinner and wine at their bar! All day Happy hour, delicious food, friendly and attentive service despite it being very busy. Something for everyone, from the cheese monger carb crave to the vegan and gluten free!
Yummy food, a little on the pricey side. But they offered to replace my salad with one with a better dressing when they saw I hadnt eaten it. :D
This place is incredible and is easily overlook. Cheeses and meats rotate through the week. The servers are well educated on types of cheese and what to combo with them, so don’t be scared to ask. Also, the butternut Mac n cheese is out of this world. Must try restaurant!
Heaven for a cheese lover! More obscure European selections, and they will help you build a custom board that suits your tastes. Definitely coming back!
Very good food to pair with well done drinks.
So good! Kale Salad with berries and feta was outstanding 👌
Cheese heaven. Love the cute environment. Very responsive and welcoming staff. We ordered the not your moms Mac and cheese and the classic grilled cheese with a twist. The Mac was mind blowingly delicious. Bites that shut down all of your other senses through the whole experience. The grilled cheese was just as amazing and came with a nice side salad adding a healthy balance. Highly recommend eating here.
Yum. All I can say is yum. From the cheese board to the beverage selection The Rind never disappoints. When you are in the mood for a classy take on the ultimate comfort food there is no other place Id recommend. Adult mac and cheese + grilled cheese for the win!
Great food in this rather surprisingly small venue. (Although it does have an outside area, too.) Generous portions of creatively arranged food
Wonderful outdoor dining experience! And theres never anything better than a grilled cheese;) Have a twisted classic, yum!
Extremely rude staff member
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, amazing staff and very well put together. My fiance and I are utilizing The Rind for their services for our wedding cheese Rind cake and to say that we were impressed with our meeting with Sara is an absolute understatement. She was very professional, personable and intelligently aware of all of her product. She assisted above and beyond in ensuring our choices and setups were exactly what we dreamed and wanted. It is a little pricey, but will not disappoint and is well worth what you pay. I would give this place, the atmosphere and Sara, amd her staff, five stars over and over.
The food and wine were yummy and the was staff kind and attentive
Came here with some friends for a birthday. Great bubbles and really fantastic cheese board pairings (we ended up getting two)! The staff were super knowledgeable and accommodating! Will absolutely be back!
The money was pretty good the selection was pretty decent the service was locked there of there was a lot of people just standing around not doing a whole lot
Cheese cheese and more cheese. Wednesday wine day is super nice and inexpensive. The Red Dragon is my favorite, but its been out of stock for a long time. However, the customer service still keeps me coming back and I have enjoyed many other cheeses since then. A must go to!
Stopped by with my GF just to share some mac and cheese. Did not expect it to be so good. We got Not Your Moms Mac. It was so filling that we couldnt finish all of it, but jeez it was good. The rose lemonade is also amazing. Good location. Good food. Good service. Couldnt ask for more.
Delicious. A little pricey for a sandwich but the quality of the sandwiches made it worthwhile. We would come back. I had the T-Brie-D which was delicious and my wife had the twisted classic. We both agreed that the twisted classic better suited our tastes since we enjoy that style of cheddar cheese which is very rich.
These grilled cheese sandwiches changed my life. I didnt know grilled cheese could taste so good.
Super awesome and unique place. Food is delicious, wine is pretty good, but its very expensive. I suppose you could say the artisan cheese drives the price up. I did have an issue with buying a bottle of wine, they dont have the license to sell unopened bottles of wine... like say if i liked a wine and wanted to buy it for another time. so that was the only downside. But the food was delicious. I got a grilled cheese, that came with a fresh salad and then a got a cup of tomato soup.. It was delicious. The staff is very friendly and nice and helpful if you have any questions. This is a fun spot if your looking to try some interested cheese, wine and beer
Do you love cheese? Do even feel ambivalent about cheese? Go here. The brie grilled cheese does not lie when it says its the best in the nation. Great beer selection, delicious food, and honestly, great use of cheese. We were very impressed.
My first visit for happy hour. Our group sat in the patio in the shade. Great service, wine recommendations, and amazing cheese trays/grilled cheese selections. Was hopping on a Thursday until 9pm.
Knowledgeable servers help navigate what has to be the most diverse cheese menu in the greater Sacramento region. My preferred approach is to choose a few cheeses, making sure with my server that they complement each other, and then based on the cheeses leave it to the server to pair a wine that ties it all together. The great staff is very much a reflection of the hands-on, involved, and gracious owners who can frequently be found tending to their dream.
My wife and I recently tried out The Rind for the first time on a random date-night outing. As we approached the front we both realized that since moving here we had walked past several times, even commented that we should go in, but never circled back. Its a small little wine bar, and reportedly it can get crazy busy, but tonight it was about half full and we were lucky enough to get a seat by the window. As the name suggests, The Rind has a huge selection of cheese, and the staff is knowledgeable enough to make great recommendations! The decor is kind of a mix between rustic and modern, very comfortable, but also feels up to date. Toward the end I ordered the lobster mac n cheese. Kudos to the chef, because this was a perfectly balanced dish. Lately I go places and try the mac n cheese and its like a contest to see how much cheese you can cram into a bowl, this was perfectly balanced with a flavorful cheese and a nice lobster tail. Perfect!
Nothing like cheese, beer and wine. Last time i was here we got the bottle of wine with a free cheese board deal and it was great. We also got sandwichs which are all great works of culinary genius. Some may sound strange but, boy are they good.
I havent been here in a while and finally decided to go treat myself. I love this place so much when Im eager to have a dinner date with myself for a change. The wine was fantastic and the Not your dads Mac was amazing! Of course I had to have their tomato soup with it, as that is equally as amazing. I almost ordered a bowl to go. They finally have cheesecake on the menu, which means I will be back very soon, hopefully without filling myself too soon this time.
Wednesdays have a Buy a bottle of wine, get a cheese plate. Its an okay deal if you and a partner plan on having a glass of wine each (~$7) and a plate of cheese (~$14). A bottle is about 34 bucks. Small area, has bar seating and good beers on tap. I highly recommend the blue cheese cheesecake.
Gorgeous little chic restaurant. They have an excellent cheese selection and the staff knows exactly what beer or wine to pair with any cheese you choose. Its a small place so I recommend making a reservation. Ill definitely go back next time Im in Sacramento.
Wonderful hole in the wall. Delicious cheese, great wine selection and very tasty beer. Everything was fresh, service was great and I cant wait to go back.
Absolutely love it. Great wine and cheese and food. Super friendly staff.
Standard wine and cheese. Great service.
Excellent food. Wonderful staff. If you like cheese,The Rind is a must try.
A cozy downtown eatery. They specialize in cheese paired with artisan beers and wines. Everything was very tasty, the service was good. Very popular, come early.
Everything is delicious. The servers are friendly and are so knowledgeable about the vast and varied selection of cheese they offer. I brought my sister-in-law from Pennsylvania in 2015 for brunch and she still talks about it!
I just started working here and its a great atmosphere and definitely great food. Super chill spot in midtown away from the bars.
Love this place! They do a great job of pairing the charcuterie plates with your choice of beverage. I only wish the breads were a little more bread-y and a little less crouton-y. Somewhere in the middle would be perfect!
Great beer and wine. And excellent food. We love our visits to The Rind!! ❤️🧡💛
Like cheese? Like grilled cheese? Love Mac and Cheese? Go here! Soon. Great food, and dozens of cheeses plates that can wow the biggest cheese lover out there. The staff is great, good beers and wine. Nothing to complain about.
I went here for lunch the other day. I ended up getting the Summer Truffle Mac. Oh my it was delicious! It perhaps could have been a little more subtle with the truffle oil, but having cooked with that stuff, I know how potent it can be. The crimini mushrooms were divine and combination of cheeses was fantastic! If you like fine cheeses, this is the place to go!
