Poked around the Moss Rock area for maybe 5 minutes and one of the employees asked me if I needed help, and then promptly helped me load about 1000 lbs. of rock. He was very helpful and courteous.

Very professional. Tell me what you want they cut the install. All at a reasonable price.

Fence crew arrived to make a large purchase. Sales people had a poor attitude. Purchasing was a mess; my crew was informed they had to take what their business staff pulled for the job rather than allowing the crew to ensure straight usable boards were packed. The prices also seemed inflated. And no returns allowed. Damaged and warped pieces were pushed. Terrible.

Absolutely amazing! My girlfriend and I priced 6x6 redwood timbers to build a pergola I designed and found Valley to have the best price in town. We showed up and eyed a gorgeous pergola that ended up advancing our design. A man came out to help us took the time to help redesign the structure to ensure it would last the tests of time. Turns out this man was the owner! Really a great experience and we are BEYOND happy with the final product! The least I can do is make this review.

The manger and front desk guy are not the most nicest people. Make sure to count all of your materials you purchase with them, because if they mess up and give you less, they will flat out refuse to give you the missing supplies.

Bad attitude... called them to arrange a delivery of some building materials, told the person on the phone that I have photos to show what I needed. He sounded bored at best, and was very snotty when I asked him how to send the photos. He asked how much I needed, and I told him in feet. He said he needed cubic yards instead, and instead of trying to help me by busting out a calculator and figuring out what I needed, his tone was mocking and said I should call back when I figure it out. Instead I decided to take my business elsewhere. I gave two stars since I never had the chance to see if the product was any good. Im just basing this review on initial phone contact.

Im a handyman who ends up doing 3-6 fences a year for people. They were the yard that was close to the job I was working on. Ive never done business with him so I gave them a shot.Initial contact over the phone was pleasant. The gal who answered the phone answered all of my questions was VERY helpful in helping me figure out how much fencing I needed (80+ ft of board on board, 3 rail, pressure-treated post). Put my customer in contact with them to complete the purchase.I dont know if it was miscalculation on my part or theres so I ended up with 12 too many 2 ×8×10s and needed a few odd things to complete the job, so I loaded the extras in the truck and took them back.HOLY CHANGE IN ATTITUDE!Rude short attitude problem over this issue.APPARENTLY THEY ARENT USED TO DOING RETURNS?Considering I had just spent over $2,000 there and what I was purchasing cost more than the amount of the return so they still came out of head I didnt feel that their attitude was anywhere near Justified.My recommendation is to go down the road another couple blocks to BERRY LUMBER or BERCO REDWOOD where the folks are friendly helpful and appreciate your business is both head of time and afterwards.Ill never be buying from Valley Redwood again.

I ordered 800 1x6 con heart redwood fence pickets from valley redwood for my personal fence project in Elk Grove. they were helpful and knowledgeable throughout the process, delivered on time and the quality and price were great, I will use them more.My second order was not as good as the first, it was a delivery order and the 400 pickets were good but the 2x6 decking and sheets lattice were obviously somebody elses rejected materials- chunks missing, excessive knots in many boards- saw marks- the totally dried lumber is a sign its been around the block, 1 of 7 of the lattice was over sprayed with some kind of deck stain, 3 others had significant damage that I was able to work around with some expert tricks and a pneumatic stapler. One had so little heart redwood it looked like Doug fir.

You truly understand what kind of business you are dealing with once you have a problem. When loading some rock, one of their employees severely damaged my 2015 Silverado by dropping the tailgate onto the bumper (new trucks dont do this but it was greatly mishandled). The employee admitted to the damage, but Curt Lane (manager) did not take any responsibility whatsoever. He was rude, condescending and did not want to supply Valley Redwoods insurance policy to make a claim nor provide the employees full name. Not a reputable place do to business or expect service of any sort!

I bought a yard of planting mix last summer that smelled like garbage and looked bad too! The smell has mostly gone away by now, but it still looks bad and wont even grow weeds! This year Im raising the garden area up behind a retaining wall so Ill be burying this soil underneath some good planting mix from another supplier.

I have never written a review for this business because I just seemed to take their high level of service, great pricing, and wonderful staff for granted. Since somebody felt that this business should enthusiastically allow them to return a part of their purchased items when miscalculating their needs, I thought I should provide my thoughts.Some places like Home Depot and Lowes have a wonderful return policy on small purchased items. I dont think alot of folks try to return large beams, stacks of plywood sheets, 94 pound sacks of concrete, etc. to them. When you buy these large items you might be wise to carefully evaluate your needs and store any overage for future needs.I have bought building supplies from places of this order all over the region. I feel that this business sets the standard for quality and top-notch customer service. Their prices for redwood lumber have always been very competitive combined with high quality products. I have made the long trip to this facility due to the very good prices on redwood many times (a long drive).I have never thought of returning half a load of fence boards, etc. should I have failed to estimate my requirement properly. So berating this business in this area makes absolutely no sense to me.I have been to this business three times in the past several months for purchases of large quantities of extremely heavy items. I have experienced the highest level of helpfulness that could ever be desired. A similar supplier of these items way down in the Elk Grove area does not provide such helpfulness and the fellow loading the trailer at this alternative business in the past showed his distaste for providing me with similar assistance. On this one customer service issue alone I would definitely choose this business over that alternative for purchasing a trailer load of heavy wall blocks. And the prices at this location are very competitive.I hope this helps reassure others that this is a fine business that I am very thankful exists. The price and quality of redwood is very good compared to other sources. I have also had a favorable experience at Berco but but Valley Redwood is by far the best place to shop for large quantities of high quality redwood at great prices.Thank you Valley Redwood for all the great customer service you have provided to me over the past dozen years or more! I just wanted to write this to set the record straight. I generally only make write ups on exceptionally good or bad businesses. This one falls in the exceptionally good arena. You wont go wrong dealing with this business.
