I purchased some roof racks several years ago. Recently, they started making a whistle like sound. I called them up and they said to bring it on by. They saw some of the stripping had weathered and they replaced for free! No more whistle sound! Thank you very much!

My wife and I were visiting the bay area from Palmdale and had the best experience at Rack N Road. We were pulling our Kendon motorcycle trailer with our new 2020 Lincoln Aviator when the trailer lights started acting up. We had no brake lights and no turn signals. We visited the local Lincoln dealer in Fairfield and a couple of trailer stores in Vacaville, but nobody was able or willing to help. I looked on the Kendon website and saw the Rack N Road is a Kendon dealer, so I gave them a call. John did a great job helping me diagnose the problem over the phone. When we got to the Rack N Road store Chad was waiting with test equipment and got right to work. John and Chad tested the factory wiring harness on the Lincoln and the wiring on the trailer and determined it was faulty LED trailer lights. They even found the wire that had become disconnected from the circuit board inside the taillight! John stripped the wires for us making the installation of the new lights a snap. John and Chad from Rack N Road in Sacramento went above and beyond in helping us get back on the road and get home safely. Thank you and BZ!

Showed up 30 mins before closing (sorry!) needing a rooftop cargo system on the fly. John B. was incredibly helpful and made the whole process quick and simple while also setting us up with a system we could afford. Highly recommend. Customer Service was out of this world.

I am very pleased with Rack N Road. They did an amazing job on the tow hitch installation, everyone was extremely nice and upbeat. Other customers came in and the employees were right on it making sure they got help in what they were looking for. I actually already had a local Uhaul appointment but I canceled because that probably wasnt the best choice and due to the rude sounding employee. Once again, I needed a 7 way electrical added to a vehical and they were my one and only call. They do it right the first time and it all happened while I waited. This is my 3rd van that I have added electrical to and I cant think of anywhere else I would ever go. Great customer service and competitive prices. Thank you again.

They were very accommodating, friendly, and helpful!We put in a deposit for a roof box and they agreed to hold it for us until we were able to come by a few days later. They showed us how the box worked and how to install it. They were professional, efficient, and super friendly!

Seemed nice / helpful enough. Prices were pretty steep, not sure what makes stamped steel and aluminum extruded brackets and bars so valuable but maybe thats just the industry? They didnt have what I was looking for ( brackets for cross bars, that attach to the drip rails. Seems pretty standard ) and they could order but they were back ordered at least 6 months, but maybe more. So, just brackets =$ 399.00 + 6+ months wait. No installation at that price btw.

It is nice to be able to go to a store order what you want and have it professionally installed when promised. Custom kayak rack installed on top, and bicycle hitch on back of my rackless Subaru in less than an hour. Looks great.

A while back they installed my 7 pin connector. Worked great! Went to hook up my trailer to go camping today and no tail lights at ALL! Ran over to rack n road and even though they were super busy, one of the guys came right out and tested the connector, found the problem (severed wire) and said he would have to take his appointments first, but promised to get it fixed by this afternoon! They got it fixed even quicker than expected and got me back on the road WITH tail lights so I wont miss my camping trip!! Thank you to the team at Rack N Road!!

Great place to get hitches and bike racks for cars! Only problem is that it is its in the Arden triangle, so its a bit difficult to get to. In spite of that, Im looking forward to coming here again to get a bike rack for my other vehicle!

Rack and Road is awesome! Julian helped me answer all my questions on the hitch and bike racks that would go on my 2011 Honda Accord. He helped me finalize purchase the best bike rack out of the three that I had selected and explained in detail why I should pick one over the other. The entire shopping experience was very fast, and over the phone (at comfort of my home). I made the payment over the phone and they were able to give me an appointment to get the bike rack installed. The place was nice and the customer service was excellent. They even sent me to the right direction of another place since they didnt have what I needed. But they should get front tow hooks for vehicles at their place and the things that hook up to it.

April 21, 2021Was looking for some alternatives for a Yakima J hooks for my Yakima/ tent. Asked the front guy and on the get go this guy just doesn’t want to sell me anything. Saying we are out of stock of those and don’t know when we are going to get some in stock. Oh it’s probably the COVID-19 thing, but at least try to sell me something Yakima alternative or aftermarket stuff. This guy just wants to go home and close up and weep about the news of Gorge Floyd? I’ve been meaning to post how awesome Rack N Road is! Everyone who has ever helped me has been so helpful and never mansplained when talking to me. They helped me pick out my roof racks, helped me with finding a used Hullavator, adjusted my kayak rack so it would latch, and when I broke a part gave me a replacement part and helped me put it on! And I was nervous about going in and they have made it easy on me every time!

Rack N Road on Arden Way in Sacramento always take great care of me and provides gold star service. Sold/installed a SUP rack and crossbar system on my SUV 3 years ago. Great experience. Most recently, on two separate occasions, Mike provided top notch service at no charge. I came in for expertise/opinion on a Yakima boat rack system. Then I came back for an issue with a loose crossbar. Mike removed the bar, made a couple of minor adjustments, and charged me nothing. Just said thanks for coming in. I will continue to give them business and recommend them to everyone I know. Great customer service. Im a customer for life.

I recently had a hitch installed and purchased a bike rack through Rack N Road. I had a great experience with them! We talked on the phone a few times and all of the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. They were able to get me in the next day for installation too. When we got there they installed the hitch quickly and gave us tips on how to put together the bike rack we had purchased. They showed us how to work everything and our new set up was very stable. It was well worth the 2 hour drive to get there! I would absolutely go with them again.

I got a trailer hitch installed on my 2018 Subaru Forester and Im super happy with it! They made sure the ball for my hitch didnt sit too low, which was something I never thought about until they mentioned it. Its nice to be able to tow something without borrowing my husbands truck.

My favorite place to get the gear I need for overland and outdoor adventures. Plenty of RoofTop Tent options and wilderness accessories. If they dont have what I need, they can usually get int in just a couple weeks.

The core of the company is changing.. i called them for some information, was asked to come in as they had several RV rated bike racks in stock and yakima Easy rider trailer in stock. Drove an hour to find out, its their sales pitch to get you in their door. The sales guy kept on offering to place an order for me... felt like i was dealing with a used car salesman. poor customer service.

After a little online research and a few surprise twists, I headed down and got hooked up with a new cargo carrier installed within about 20 minutes of arriving. Steve was kind enough to walk me through the installation and adjustments for the model, and did a great job of explaining what to look out for.Would definitely recommend this place.

They did such a wonderful job installing cross bars, two cargo containers and one cargo basket on our adventure van. The installer (didnt catch his name)did an amazing job making everything look proportion to the van. We are very happy with the work. I emailed Rack N Road for info about my hitch needs and they responded right away. I placed an order and once it arrived the installation took only a half hour. I’m impressed with how the Curt brand hitch is hidden nicely underneath my vehicle. The shop carries a variety of racks for bikes, kayaks and more.

I had researched where I was going to get my hitch installed on my new vehicle. I knew it was going to be a little tricky and I wanted it professionally done so I picked Rack and Road and I am glad I did. There were some issues with the install but I was promised all would be taken care of. They kept their word, were respectful of my concerns and corrected all. Problems arise sometimes - these guys take pride in their work and have very good customer service and even though the install on my car wasn’t their norm, they made it right. That speaks volumes. John and his crew are the best! They only sell the best products and they really know there stuff! Weve bought both Yakima and Thule cargo carriers. Their prices are very competitive! This week our Thule kayak rack ceased to work properly - I brought them into the store expecting to have them repaired. With the approval of the Thule rep I was given a whole new set at no charge. Thats service! As long as we live in Sac they will be the only place we shop for racks and cargo carriers. Thanks Rack and Road!

Came in for crossbars for my Nissan Rogue. Didnt have a lot to spend but John was able to get me custom fitted, installed and out the door with a used set for a reasonable amount. The staff at Rack N Road are very knowledgable and helpful. I purchased a roof mounted bike rack several years ago, and they helped me pick a rack that has worked great. I recently purchased a roof cargo carrier, and the staff graciously helped me test load carriers in the store so I could get the the right size. They taught me how to load onto my car most efficiently. I now have a roof carrier that works great! I will continue to shop at Rack N Road Sacramento because of its large selection of products and, above all, because the staff are great to work with.

Rack and Road installed a trailer hitch on my F150 and did an outstanding job! I have had two previous bad experiences, one with U Haul; which made me extra cautious this time. Theyre in such a niche market - theyre only competition is not really even in their league because Ill be damned if Im gonna trust somebody making $12/hr to put a hitch on our vehicles let alone outfit trailer brakes. They have really good quality gear of outfitting your vehicles. Looking forward to the new RC trailer brake system. Saved us more than $200 compared to the dealers cost. No pressure sales and super clean shop.

Wow great speedy service. I called in on a Sunday and Alex helped provide me with locks that werent originally included on my Yakima rack that I ordered online. They had them in stock and even installed them for free!

Staff was very helpful in finding a rack that fit our car (a small 2-door with a curved roof) and our budget. They did a great job on the installation, it was tailored to our car and main use, quick, and professionally done. They also have a warranty on their installation work for the lifetime of the car. We had been looking at different sets online, but we are really happy we got our rack at Rack N Road.

I bought a set of chains there about a year or so ago, and of course since I bought them never needed to use them till a year later. Turns out that they were not the right size even though they are documented to fit my car. The manager did a solid and was able to return the ill-fitting chains for some proper ones. He didnt have to, but they went the extra mile to make it right.

Manager (who is probably the owner) was very knowledgeable, gave great service, and easy to talk to. I get the impression from my experience that the younger men who work here lack the ability to relate well to people (perhaps women?) not their own age. Hopefully theyll eventually overcome this 🙃

The sales rep had no idea about the products he was trying to sell. Even basic questions about the different racks where hard for him to comprehend.Yes I see your one display model... I had to repeatedly explain I didn’t want that model and why. Yet every question went right back to showing me the display.I hope this was just an installation tech and not your regular store front presentation. You lost out on a $1500-$3000 purchase today because of it.

Around June of 2017 I brought my friends Miata into to this store. Super hard to get a hitch on a Miata, but these guys did it. Now he can tow his Hobie 14. They worked on it for hours and even drill into the frame to make it fit. I will always recommend them now! Go here if you need it to get done without a hitch!

They wanted $450 to install a Yakima roof basket, that I can install myself since it only takes a few minutes and dont mind doing it. I bought the same roof rack elsewhere for $350 without tax.They do have a big selection of choices for roof or trailer racks so if you dont want to install anything yourself, this place would be great!

I stopped in here not knowing ANYTHING about what bike rack I needed, or wanted, and with a terrible looking new hitch just installed at a Land Rover dealership.....I pulled up and right away these guys had me pull in the shop, they repaired my hitch (out of the kindness of their hearts), lead me in the store, asked me about 3 questions on what I would use the rack for, and then before I knew it the new rack was assembled from the box and installed on my SUV and I LOVE it!!! They didnt try and rip me off, or up sell me anything I didnt need, I truly appreciated it after the terrible day i had at the car dealership!!! I will be a customer for life here at Rack N Road- the BEST customer service, every employee here was amazing! I was in and out of here with a new rack installed & a repaired hitch in under 20 minutes :) Thank you!!

Today I had an EcoHitch installed. I had called around to find the best price to have a hitch installed on my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. I spoke to John who was very helpful and said they had one in stock. I made an appointment and was told it could take 2 hours to install. I was prepared with things to keep me occupied while waiting. When I arrived at Rack N Road today, I asked if there were any eating places within walking distance. The employee told me there were several and he explained how to get to all of them. I walked to one of the nearby fast food restaurants and was prepared to be there for awhile, when I received a phone call that the hitch was installed and my car was ready. It only took 30 minutes to install. When I returned, John was ringing up my purchase and I asked about a Thule cargo carrier. I had looked at some online the night before so I knew how much they went for. John quoted me prices and he must have noticed I wasnt willing to spend too much more since I was already purchasing a hitch. He told me they will beat any competitors price then mentioned they have some rentals for sale. I did not know that they rented equipment. When he told me the price of the rentals I couldnt pass it up. I was thankful because I didnt need to have a brand new one and he said the warranty is still good. All the staff were VERY helpful. While John was cleaning off the cargo carrier, another staff was showing me how to access my hidden Ecohitch. I am very happy with the work done, the prices, and the employees knowledge of their product.
