I shouldnt tell the public about this secret gem of a store. Im gonna but know theres consequences. I drive out from Seaside/Monterey, where there are 7 grocery stores and 2 fruit stands, just to shop at Star Market, the best place for fruit, vegetables and meats. I dont know whos the clairvoyant on the staff but I never have large pits in my creamy avacados. Tomatoes taste and smell like real tomatoes, not water. And when I cook my lean meat, no severe liquid overflow. The consequence:. The cost is a very big pretty shiny penny but so well worth it.

Fantastic local store. If they dont have it or dont carry it, theyll order it for you. Sometimes their prices are a bit higher, but specials are always great. Love Victor & staff. Customer service is out of this world great. They are in S part of town & I live in N part of the county but I dont hesitate to shop there. Also they always go out of their way to support local organizations..Would give more stars if they were available!!!

Victor is amazing at wines. The rest of the employees are amazingly nice and helpful. Love the store, the produce and meat are my faves (hello Tomahawk steaks!).

Unique things available especially during the holidays request British imports too. Hard to find items at times as well. One of my favorite private markets. Reasonable prices not too pricy

By far my favorite supermarket in Monterey County, Star Market has hundreds of products that just cant be found anywhere else. Their fruits & vegetables, candy and cheese choices are unmatched. Its always spotless and theres rarely any wait at the cashier.

Family owned. My great grandmother never wanted to go anywhere but here. They have a decent selection of organic food. Nice staff. Very clean. Never too busy. Easy access. Plenty of parking.

I like Star market it has more natural and organic choices than the other local grocery stores in the area... plus I dont mind paying a little more if it means supporting our local business ownes rather than the big chain businesses! Thats huge for me... and theyre a lucky lottery retailer! Win win

My favorite grocery store ever. Sometimes I buy prepackaged foods at places like target but only because its cheaper. If I could afford to buy all my food here all the time I would!! Best produce and meats in the county and friendly atmosphere! Live love laugh.

I love Star Market. They carry a unique collection of home - use items as well as fresh fruits, meats and vegetables. They are very supportive of local producers of food products, in addition to carrying unique world flavors. And the cheese bar not only has a rich variety of options, but it is also staffed so you can discuss AND taste options before you purchase! Make sure you sign up for their sale sheet that gets delivered to you at home. Its a great local option with responsive owners and service oriented staff. A true community jewel!

This grocery store has been around awhile and when you visit it you will see why: very nice looking place. The people there are very helpful and the shelves are stocked and the whole place is clean.

Love this place it has hardly changed since 1979 from when I went shopping with my mom. I have not walked through the door in 20 years and knew where everything was. The staff was friendly and singing songs too.

I have lived in Salinas for nearly 30 years and have always shopped to one degree or another at Star Market. Meat Counter is top notch- super honest, straight shooters. Good fresh prepped in house meats. I always get special cuts there. London broil sliced for jerky, Boneless pork butts for pulled pork. Christmas Ribeye roasts ect. The cheese counter is the best in Monterey bar none. Mike is a cheese master. The wine selection is also the best in town, Better than dedicated liquor stores, better than bev-mo. Lots of local wine and beer. Now I live in Seaside and still drive to Salinas to shop at Star, Never change a thing guys..... its not broke, dont fix it.

They may not have the same large inventory than the grocery store across the street, but the managers really know their products and if they don’t have something they will order it for you. Star Market is the best! You can park right in front of the store! They have an amazing cheese selection. They sell things that other stores dont even stock on holidays. They can be a little pricey, but they are super friendly and helpful and will learn your name if your frequent them!

Star Market carries good quality of food and stuff. They have a lot of organic and healthy food. Vegetables, meat and fish are fresh. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Also Star Market carries unique stuff that other supper Market often dont have on their shelves.

I rarely get nice customer service here. I only come here because the veggies and fruits are really fresh. The people behind the cash registers look very sad after 5:00. I dont blame them, I too worked a register many years ago.

Fantastic selection of all things craft and local. They carry a beer that is almost impossible for me to find, delicious, fresh steaks, and the most beautiful, nutritious local produce. It is on the pricer side, but this beats other competitors for quality and selection. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Love this place.

My go-to place for everything fresh and local. Inexpensive for produce and meat but double the price for anything in a box. You will not find meat covered in slimy residue here like on other grocery markets. I love this store!!

I love Star Market. I do my monthly shopping there. Everything imaginable under one grocery roof. Organics, ethnic foods, imported food, wine, alcohol, dairy, bulk, GF SF, etc. Best meat market ever.

Star Market is a higher end grocery store. They carry fresh seafood, organic produce, an extensive collection of wine and spirits and many hard-to-find items. Its a bit pricy but everything is top quality.

Pharmacist sucks they be playing and taking there time ...dont go I dont reccomend it....

Ive stopped by a couple of times on my way home to grab a couple of items and have been impressed with the beer and wine selections, but havent experienced any friendliness at the checkout counter. I am a black man and I cant even get a hello, very sad when you feel unwelcomed.
