While it took some time to get an appointment (winter, of course, is their busiest season!), the service was great. Dan (the repair technician) was friendly and knowledgeable. Since its January-2021 and COVID is still ongoing, he wore a mask upon his arrival and throughout the service. He troubleshot / serviced / cleaned the fireplace and provided some good tips on routine maintenance. Overall, great service.
About 6 months ago I went into Alpine in the Sugar House area. We were building a new house and wanted to see what they had to offer. When I went in the store was dead and it took about 8 minutes for the salesman to come out of the back office. He acted like I was not a serious buyer and seemed put out to even have to talk to me. After this visit, my builder sent me to Hearth and Home, also in Sugar House and had me talk with the owner Gary. He quickly explained to me what happens during new construction and took care of everything. He took my ideas of what I was looking for and made suggestions that gave us a great fireplace. His prices were much more competitive than Alpine too.
Bad experience. Looking for other options. After seeing a friends gas log she bought from Alpine I called her salesman Dan. Left several messages on his office and mobile phones. One week later I had not gotten any response so I called the store. She referred me to Peyton (sp?) At Peytons request I sent a photo of the defined area. No response. Called a day later. He promised to follow with an email estimate. Third phone call two days later. No response. I have spent nearly three weeks begging to spend $1000 at a local business and I cant get their attention. Now searching for other options.
I called 12/17 and said I needed someone to come out and fix my gas fireplace, there was no spark, it wont start. The man asked me what kind it was so I went downstairs to look. No label I told him. He told me to open the bottom panel and see if there is a sticker or a metal plate. I told him there is neither. He asked me again, you dont see a sticker or metal plate? Didnt I just tell him there was none?? Oh, I get it! Im a woman, I must be a liar and less intelligent than a man. I politely told him again there was none. I could hear him shift in his seat like he was getting irritated and he sharply told me they were only servicing certain brands right now and I need to find out what kind of unit I have. At this point I could see he didnt want to deal with a dumb woman so I said OK Ill find someone else. Rude, rude, rude.
