My visit to this particular Guitar Center wasn’t anything to write home about. Most of the employees I interacted with seemed to lack the time & patience to help customers (such as myself) who are interested in getting involved with music and instruments, but who also don’t have a lot of knowledge. Perhaps I wasn’t asking the right questions or should’ve done more research on the internet before coming in. I would say the majority of employees working at this Guitar Center probably have a wealth of knowledge to share, but I’m not sure they want to. Will I come back? Probably. My experience wasn’t good or bad, it was just average hence the 3 star rating.
Man... These guys are great. They make it such a good experience. Went in today wanting to start playing a little electric guitar. Im a noob and told them I needed some guidance. Instead of blowing me off two representatives knocked it out of the park for me: Tyler and Mason. They both took a ton of time with me showing me options, recommending I try different setups, challenging me to hear what I like. I ended up finding a setup that I really like and am super stoked to have. So grateful that there can still be a good customer service experience in this automated world. Thanks Tyler and Thanks Mason!
Has a very large amount of musical instruments and misc. musical items, But a lot of the things arent available to test out or use, the test drum set has fingerprints and dust all over the symbols and there isnt a hi hat you can play on. The electric drum sets are either not turned on, missing a piece of the set, or too quiet. a few of the electric pads and DJ sets arent turned on or dont emit sound, but the selection is huge and i will return, just those few things kind of triggered me
Hit and miss. Great service some days, not so much on others. All depends on the sales associate. Some of them really know their stuff, and some of them dont
The shop is huge!! Theres lots of help available, and they have quite the selection! The sales person helping us was helpful until I said let me think about it, am not sure and he completely lost interest in helping us. The place was a bit messy and dirty, but Id go back.
Took a new Fender acoustic into this location for repair. When I picked up my guitar a few days later, I noticed that the guitar tech didn’t address the issue with the guitar whatsoever. I emailed the management at this location twice to request a refund for the poor repair job and they were totally unresponsive.*Update* The manager reached out to me and was very helpful. He personally repaired the guitar for me within minutes. Thanks!
Always a fun place to visit, as a musician I like to visit Guitar Centers were ever Im at this store I frequently go to while in town. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and store is well maintained, this store has a great selection and I spend money just about every time Im there. As any musician knows guitar center will usually have what you need.
If you are just getting into music and want somewhere to shop that will answer all of your questions, point you in the right direction, and offer you resources that will make learning things easier then I strongly suggest you avoid this shop at all costs.I came in here 100% ready to pay whatever I needed to get into playing guitar, and I would have too. If any of the ten employees pointlessly occupying the building were of any help at all. The only time they seemed to look up from their phones was when I was approaching the counter, When they immediately dispersed to the back.Anyway this is a great place to loiter around for 30 mins and mess with expensive guitars without anyone bothering you.But really. Just take your business somewhere local that actually cares.
They had price tags on gear they werent able to sell, couldnt find a comparable item at a reasonable price and the guy at the register took so long flirting with some DJ lady that I got bored and left without buying the few items I did find. Overall a very frustrating and cringe inducing experience. Buy from literally anywhere else even if it costs a few more dollars, these guys are jokers.
All around garbage. There are so many boxes stacked up on the floor you can barely walk around. Plus you can’t tell if those boxes are waiting to be stocked or if that’s how they display inventory. Also, not a single person greeted or offered to help in any way. Guitar Center is the GameStop of music stores. If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Good place to pickup some strings. or some picks. or a guitar.Got to be careful with that last one. its addicting.Just wish I could pickup some pickups. cuz ya know.... puns.
Great selection, awesome guitar tech and pro audio reps that know their gear. I’ve been going to the same location since I picked up the guitar 12 years ago.
Awesome large music retail store offering all types of instruments and lessons. Great place to hang out if you love music. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
All the employees love music and have a huge knowledge of guitars. I was looking for a guitar with a specific pick-up and within 5 seconds I had a beatiful example in my hands. They are super helpful and fast with checkout and gear swaps.
Have had mixed experiences here, recently they have been good and people have been respectful and nice to female musicians
I’ve been coming to this location for years, and they’ve always had the nicest, and most helpful staff. I just hope the employees are getting taken care of by upper management, because they work hard to make customers happy.
Very helpful folks. However.... long wait (like leave it there for 4 to 7 days) to get a guitar re-strung so I went elsewhere..... daughter is sound engineer for concerts and other events and appreciated the selection of mics and etc.
Friendly employees and so helpful they really help my son and took the time woth him to find the right key bourd for him
Guitar center is the musical warehouse that has everything u need. I am not a bass player but I was accommodated as if I were and the salesman didnt try and push the most expensive items on me. I had freewill to make my own decisions and thats truly what a shopper is looking for, is it not shoppers? So enjoy the experience and tell them Hutch sent u.
Bought a 🎺 tompet for the daughter and they had it in stock and a cleaning kit. Always had great experiences with them.
Went in to the store to purchase something that the website said was in stock. I also did some browsing around to see if there was anything else I wanted. The store was a complete disaster. Product was all over the place, the shelves and racks were a mess and many items had no price tags. When I tried to find the item I came in for it was nowhere to be found. An employee looked it up in their system, which said they had 4 in stock that they had received 3 days prior. He started searching through boxes of product on the floor and in the back room that still needed to be stocked, but wasnt able to find it. He took my name and number and said hed call when he found it, but I never heard back. I was hoping to avoid waiting for it to ship by ordering online, but I guess thats my best option if the store is always in such disarray.
12 year old was dropped off for a guitar lesson. Guitar teacher never showed up. Employees never told us. So she wondered around the store. A little frustrating, dangerous, and unprofessional.👎👎👎👎👎
Friendly staff eager to help and give guidance for musical instruments. Not a great place for orchestra class if youre longing for violin or cello.
Good selection for drum gear and accessories. The staff was helpful but few and far between. I felt like pricing is on par with even online costs.
First time buying an electric set up. Mason helped set me up and walk me through the things I needed as I was pretty clueless. The whole time he was very patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Definitely will be returning because of the great customer service he provided. Thanks, Mason! ☺️
I am so tired of people constantly lying. Was told a Fender amp being sold not before 5/30/2021. You can guess what happens; I am in front of their door 10 minutes before it opens and ... no amp there anymore. I do not believe the “layaway” assumption of the guy working there without looking for it in the back. There was no interest to find out on his part. He probably knew already. Looks to me like an employee got it for himself or a friend of his before a guy from the street can buy it. Not sure if I ever go back to the store and leave money there again. Had a lot on my shopping list. If you can not trust them with a simple sale like that who knows what BS they tell you to sell you what ever.
No too clean, but cool staff and good selection.
Very cool place filled with awsome guitars were you can try them out
Clean environment and the staff is super helpful and friendly.
Went in with my husband and 2 sons. Got my husband something really close to what he wanted. What made this a 5 star was how helpful their team was. My 2 sons first time their and the impact the team made on them is just heart warming. Plan on going back real soon!
Excellent service !! I love them...
A lot of music related stuff and quite a large number of instruments! Truly impressive and good use of available floor space!
Picked up a cool concert Mitchell ukulele for a decent price. They used to have them on display in the guitar room, now they have a little rounder with only a couple out. I had to get out my phone and use their app to look up prices and specs. Picked up a few accessories as well. Seems they have really narrowed their selection, probably due to covid and possible financial difficulties. Still, a great place for gear!
Nice workers- they treated my 13 year old like a rockstar even though it was his first guitar. Id recommend asking them to play because I learned a lot about the amps too!
Staff doesnt know much and needs to be trained.I havent spoken with a single staff member who has given me relevant and helpful information. At this point, I can find better products and more accurate answers to my questions online and wont be returning to this location. Here are some examples:I asked if a certain microphone was mono or stereo (I read online that it was stereo and wanted to double check). On two occasions, different employees told me they knew for a fact it was mono and would not fit my needs. They sounded confident, and they are the experts, so I believed them, but they were wrong.I ordered a used product from their online store that didnt end up working right out of the box. I called in and asked them if I could exchange the cord to see if it would work. They said absolutely, they have plenty of that cord in stock. When I showed up, three employees told me they had never seen that kind of cord in their life and the best they could do is return the item.I ended up returning that item, as it didnt work. They refunded me for the product, but not for the shipping I paid. I ended up needing to call their corporate office to get a refund. The corporate worker was astounded that they didnt refund me for the shipping. This used to be a great store full of experts, but now I dont trust any of them.
I was able to take time to stroke the ivorys, and play a guitar for my sweetheart. I love being able to go in and just lose myself in the music, even though others might not appreciate my attempt at music.
Usually love this place and the service, but today I got snobby attitude and he acted like every question was idiotic. All I can say it’s only Guitar Center Susie!
Awesome Customer Service!! Was asked by 4 different people within 5 minutes if I needed anything! Great store! Great people! Great Experience! Will definitely be back!
If you need something related to musical instruments in a pinch can be a good place to go.They also have good band related gifts and novelty items. If only the people that suck on guitar would stop blasting themselves throughout the store. You are not as good as you think you are so please turn your volume down and practice more at home.
Good service great selection. I prefer smaller stores but really cant go wrong here
The staff was very friendly and helpful! They helped me find the perfect vintage strat.
These guys are great! Walked in, asked for help with our acoustic guitar that needed some attention to be ready for my sons Jr high guitar class. Restring a missing string and tuned it and sent me on my way. No charge! Wow! Not what I expected. Made my day!
I love guitar center! They are so helpful and have always helped me find exactly what I need! Excellent customer service!
Great selection. Good staff.
Customer service in general is just bad at this store. The employees make me feel like nothing to them. Like just now I was standing in line for 10 minutes ( not too long ) the dude at the entrance of the store noticed that the line was picking up. Called other employees over the Intercom, nobody came. Finally the cashier came, purchased a guitar stand no problem, I had a question for him and it was if someone can restring my guitar, which I just purchased the other day. He says he doesn’t do it. That some other guys do. Told me there names like if I was supposed to know who they are. I don’t know how they look like, he could’ve checked if they were busy that would’ve been good and not upsetting. Over all just a bad store.
Had a great selection of musical instruments from pianos to vocal microphones and even djay equipment it was a 10/10 will visit again
Wonderful selection, they even let you test out their instruments.
This location has a pretty good selection of equipment
Inventory a little low but still fun to go look.
Guitar center chose to keep the mask policy after restrictions were lifted. Ive spent thousands of dollars at guitar center throughout the years, but I will never shop here again. Its time for the masks to go.
Helpful staff and great selection
Their counter and two clerks was right up front. I asked for the items I desired, and I was out again in short order. The staff knew exactly what I needed and where it was located.
Great selection and friendly service.
I used to rate guitar center five stars but with the pandemic they dont have any inventory and now lock all the good guitars and only unlock the junky ones to play. Also Ive ordered several things online over the past couple of months. Two amps arrived broken and two guitars that were supposed to be in excellent condition were beat to hell. The manager at the SLC store is always accommodating though...is good to work with. And the sales staff is decent. They need better inventory and they need to have better training for staff listing gear condition... and better QC for product packaging and shipping.
Nice people. Terrible return policy
Just a great environment, the best selection and knowledgeable help.
Been going here for decades! Bought Les Paul, Taylor 114ce, Martin D-15M, Marshall t602 and a mountain of other odds and ends from here over the years.Great store and place to check out gear.
These guys know what it means to be a guitarist. Always willing to help.
Its really rough going into a guitar center these days. Quarantine pretty much wiped out the Taylorsville location.I went into the shop for a pair of Alto 315s. It took 30 minutes just to find someone willing to give me their opinions on them but even then NO ONE could help me demo them. I was determined to buy but due to the lack of help and inability to demo, I ordered them through Ebay and ended up saving almost $100.Then again I had a similar experience recently finding drum heads. The young lady (nothing against her) who was new and not even assigned to the drum department tried to help but ultimately couldnt and no one else was available. Its rough. Only go in if you have too and verify their stock by phone first.
Better than Raising Canes
Nice guitar center at Salt Lake City . Good collection and knowledgeable staff .
Great place for your guitar and or musical needs.
Great selection of gear. Not a good as it used to be, but that seems to be the trend of guitar shops the past decade or so.
Great attention and awesome payment options
The guy was fast and friendly bringing me my curbside order. Im extremely happy with my purchase.
This place didnt have as much of a selection as other Guitar Centers Ive been to. The prices were pretty reasonable and the employees were helpful.
Great staff, good selection.
Is a store where my daughter love to go, she is planning to learn to play the guitar... they have to many there... hard to choose, but got a good idea which one to get for a beginner.
Had no begginer guitar packs in stock but found it online.
Great selection of new and used guitars. Staff is knowledgeable and fun to work with and chat with too.
Friendly staff and decent prices, great selection!
Found the perfect keyboard!
Really niceLots of selection and helpful, knowledgeable staff.
Great service, I was patiently helped with all my questions
Honestly this place used to be really nice, when we went in there wasnt nearly enough staff... everything was cluttered and unorganized... I will not go here for musical supplies again. It used to be my go to but the last time I was there it sucked. Also the floors where REALLY dirty. I have a toddler and I let her walk around and she stumbled and when I went to help her up she was convered in hair and debris. Cmon guys get it together.
Guitar Center SLC for me is like a kid in a candy store. I can never leave without spending $250 or more. Theres a big selection of products. Next time in SLC Ill be there.
Great variety of instruments.
Awesome! Sales associate was very friendly and knowledgeable about there product. Merchandise was very on point. Wish I could have purchased it all! Thank you guitar center for being so helpful and not like REI who were stuck up and very ride. So here for sure.
Ryan listened to what we were looking for went to the back and got us an amazing guitar for just the right price. He did an amazing job with customer service and satisfaction. Great job Ryan! Thank you!!
Terrible service. Will never darken their door again and they lost out on two good sales. Upon entering explained that I need guitar strings switched. Was told to go wait in line. Waited there over 20 mins, with a chord book in hand to buy (19.99). Was finally my turn, guy said take your guitar somewhere else, our guy quit... Then ignored the purchase in my hand and took the people behind me. So I have happily taken my business elsewhere. I have spent a lot of money here over the years, amps, gear.... The list goes on. I hope they get the customer service back, cuz they used to be great.
I love this location staff are amazing. Pricing is fair. I e been coming here for years and I dont have a single complaint about them. Was in earlier today and a dude named Mason C. Was very helpful and knowledgeable. He hooked up some prices and helped me find exactly what I was looking for! Absolutely the go to place for any type of music equipment. Amazing selection. And much more!!
Store was cool !!! Service was terrible!!! Not one person was willing to help me. 15 minutes to check out ounce I hopefully found what I was looking for!!!
The gentleman helped us find the first string and picks that we needed for our sons acoustic guitar was very friendly and helpful. Much appreciated.
My first time and second time here was in the last few months. This place is one of the few music stores you can spend hours getting lost in what they have. Really fun and so much to look at and dream about.
Sub par guitar selection. The employees were constantly swamped. Very spread thin. They felt understaffed. But helpful.
Always courteous and friendly staff. Lots of selection with fair prices!
Decent selection, decent prices.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Theyve been there helping us through every musical milestone on our journey for years. Highly recommend.
I asked to compare 2 instruments. They said that they didnt have the manpower to do it and told me to go to a competitor of theirs. They were happy to have me buy an instrument so long as I didnt get to test it first. Funny thing was that another 2 employees were just sitting at the front, but they claimed not to be knowledgeable and therefore couldnt allow me to test an item myself or tell me if they even had it in stock. Hallmark of a dying store is when they tell you to go somewhere else... Also, it looks like they havent vacuumed in months, let alone disinfected for covid...
I love going to the guitar center. The staff is very knowledgeable to Sometimes its hard for me to get out of there I want to rethink their sell.
The Lessons Manager was more than helpful and quick in signing my son up for violin lessons. Its nice to know that a business is still offering in person lessons during the pandemic and has taken reasonable precautions. Everyone has been super nice and helpful for us newbies.
The guys here are awesome. Everyone I talked to was incredibly helpful, and I was able to get everything I needed, and then some. When I need a 12 string, I will be back to get one. The same for when I need to replace my secondary electric guitar (Fender Strat Squire). They continue to provide good customer service, even after about a 10 year gap from when I was last there.
Sold me a used midi controller as brand new. told me all the components were checked, and the system was perfect, which is why it was being sold full price.Got it home. It literally had no components. It was just the keyboard. No power cable, no software, it was supposed to come with 4 pieces of software, and 3 cables - it had nothing. Brought it back and was told they couldnt issue a refund that day because it required a managers approval and the manager wasnt there.Brought it back the next day and they plugged a power cable into it. It didnt power on at all, they sold me a completely broken device and took out all of the components. Then during the refund they had to give a portion of the return as a store credit. It was like they went out of their way to do everything wrong and screw over a customer and waste their time.
